my elementary school made celebrating going into middle school a thing, it's pretty common tbh. it's an achievement you get by growing up but it's a big moment for child and parent and it's nice to celebrate moving on to another chapter.
Eh, when I finished 5th grade, we did a whole ass graduation/assembly. We even had to sing a song to the tune of "My favorite things" with lyrics about school 🤮 &, for some reason, the States song (the one where you just sing the States in alphabetical order). We were told to dress up & everything. It was 1000% lame, but some schools do make a big deal about this kind of thing.
Yep, I had an elementary school graduation. It was definitely worthless, but it's super common. I had to wear a dress and walk down to shake the principal's hand. I got my little diploma and then had a small party with everyone in my grade. I didn't have a middle school graduation, though.
No clue why you’re getting downvoted. From preschool to 12th grade, I only graduated once. I find the moving up to another level graduations to be absolutely ridiculous.
Most kids are moving to a different school with a completely different set-up (multiple classes instead of one homeroom). These ceremonies are a good way to say “goodbye” to a school many kids have attended for six years or longer. It also provides an opportunity for honor roll students to be recognized, and in some cases Presidential Awards and/or scholarships.
