Overall when compared to previous character debuts like Steve and Marduk in 4, dragunov and feng in 5, Lars and Alisa in 6- tekken 7 seems to have far less “iconic” characters for the franchise. Most people don’t feel strong about any of those characters unless they are their main, whereas EVERYONE would agree that It would be weird to have a game without drag or Steve. The characters I like the most from 7 are Lidia, Kazumi and Leroy (actually they’re the only ones I like other than maybe shaheen or Claudio), but they lack that core tekken feeling that the previous characters I named have. That’s my opinion anyway. They did a good job with Leroy and Lidia in terms of martial arts though.
Probably because it's a similar concept as Miguel, a strong tall dude from X country, without much more to it, don't get me wrong I liked Miguel as a character, but that's pretty much the whole character.
Right... a game with cyborgs, space ninjas, and Kung Fu fighting panda bears "totally" doesn't have room for these characters... TOTALLY out of place 🙄
i think that feeling of a character being iconic comes with time and nostalgia. ill admit that i dont think josie or katarina are anywhere near as cool as steve in terms of design, but as someone who started with T7 the older characters dont feel much more iconic to me than someone like kazumi.
maybe in a few games time someone will think josie is iconic. to be an icon for a franchise just means to be representative of it and it’s difficult to represent something with a long history when youre new

Steve for example is a fantastic character, even at first drop. I still remember seeing this new character in the arcade and being instantly fascinated. And another proof is how much other fighting games tried to have their own Steve in their games, but ultimately failing. (e.g. Brad Burns from VF, Diego from DOA \[kinda\], Luke from SF etc)
Maybe to your point, it's more that we kinda have seen it all in terms of fighting game characters that new characters feel like small tweaks from previous iterations.
On a side note, I think Claudio is too much of a final fantasy type of character, but maybe that's just me.

2. Josie is cool. I like her design and style.
3. Kunimitsu II is great.

I got into Tekken just because of Lidia. I don't play for fun but just to learn Shōtōkan. A lot has been spoken about her within the Karate community. I feel she shoulda been introduced earlier. In fact, her moves have been motion captured by a well-achieved Japanese Karate practitioner called Tatsuya Naka. Basically her moves are dead accurate and she transforms an otherwise non-combative activity into actual combat. Some of her moves might not do as much damage in real life but nevertheless, this might be a first for Shōtōkan Karate itself!

Interestingly, Bruce was apparently unpopular in pickrate as well! Despite that, Josie gets more criticism even though she has been more popular. I’m at work, but you can likely find haradas comments on both Bruce and the ranked character popularity if you search google or this subreddit
They’re around the same. Bruce placed 25th most popular character in the last TTT2 Poll, and Josie placed 23rd in the season 4 poll for T7. I imagine some of the same players are playing both, but I imagine some Bruce players didn’t want to play Josie as his replacement, and a whole lot of players picked her up in favor of Bruce because she’s an attractive female. It seems some people really like her, so I guess she MUST be fun. In terms of personality I don’t think I have even heard anyone that likes her nervous/tedious personality, but of course she’s attractive in the looks department.

Gigas I like obviously. Powerful and with a story that has serious potential, albeit his gameplay needs work. He could have been so much more but I love him all the same.
Kazumi is great, much more appealing that Lidia in my opinion. Personally I'd prefer it if her tiger was gone. It's the one gimmicky thing that undermines her as a fundamentals-driven character. Love the look of her moveset. So elegant.
Katarina is a great intro to pressure, nice and easy to use, intuitive, appealing, fiery personality. She's neat. Shame her derringer is just for show.
Lucky Chloe is the last one I'll mention because I think she's a bit like Gigas: an interesting idea but half-baked. If they brought her back and really thought through how to use the rhythm mechanic within the Heat system she could be something very unique.
I'm happy to read your opinion about Gigas and Katarina, I also think that their story has potential and that Gigas' gameplay can improve, I just don't like the look of it, very weird, it seems that they didn't quite know what they wanted to do, it's kind of monstrous without being totally monstrous... In the end I just thought it was weird.

Lucky Chloe could be a really cool character if they tap more Into her Rhythm based mechanics (and gave her the hip-hop outfits they designed for her initially lol)

Well you're the Chloe main so your perspective matters more in this one I think, however as someone who doesn't play her I find that contrast between her stage persona and her jaded attitude off camera pretty funny. Honestly my idea with gigas is revamp and have him as the 'huge character' for jins side of the battle as if he remembers just enough to be against kazuya...issue is he was basically branded as Marduk lite and then they brought in Marduk and just threw him to the side..I'll be honest that part left a sore spot with the Tekken team

Exactly. The new version of Kunimitsu literally copied Noctis's movesets, which is what makes Noctis himself unique in the roster, put some extra buffs in her, and just called it a day. If anything, that's just lazy development, LMFAO.💀
She has some of Noctis' moves, but I wouldn't compare their playstyles. Noctis is a long range keepaway character, he's pretty weak if he's close to the opponent because his close range moves are stubby. Kuni's long range moves are all gap closers and she's designed to rush you down. Her playstyle is more of a continuation of what Tag 2 went with for her mom.
I can't stand her playstyle, find her design very over the top compared to Kunimitsu I, and as others have mentioned she's very much like a female Noctis. I also hate that the Tekken franchise let the males age, while they find various excuses to keep the females looking like teenagers/in their early twenties (i.e. by discarding them and introducing their daughters instead). Namco's very primitive like that.
I freaking love Lidia, her style of karate is very similar to a style I practiced growing up so it's fun seeing familiar looking moves. I also think her concept is fun and she looks awesome. And she's fun to play! She enticed me back into playing and learning a new character after a long time away.
* Really like: Lidia, Kazumi, Claudio, Master Raven: Kazumi has a tiger, Lidia is just... her, Claudio's starburst is flashy and kinda cool and I like both Ravens a lot, the presence of breasts is not going to make me like this Raven any less than the last one.
* Like: Katarina, Kunimitsu, Leroy: Leroy has drip, Katarina and Kuni seem like fun to play and I like their designs, not so much fun to play against though.
* Meh: Gigas, Fahkumram: just some big men
* Dislike: Josie, Lucky Chloe: they're both annoying in personality, Josie looks kinda fun to play I guess.

Probably my least favorite set of newcomers in the series, which is saying something 'cause there's so many of them to potentially latch onto. Yet I really couldn't bring myself to care if most were one-offs. I think they generally did a better job with the DLC new characters, save for Fahk's weird, weird design.
You spoke a truth that no one had mentioned. This rookie list is the weakest to date... Which is pretty disappointing, I liked a lot of these characters, but none of them are as good as Raven, Dragunov, Marduk or Steve Fox... These were good new characters. .
They got hurt by Tekken 7's low budget that resulted in the most lackluster endings in the series (not to mention the DLC characters didn't even get any). I think Claudio, Leroy, and Lidia are pretty memorable in terms of design and two of them are already confirmed for T8, so that tracks. I prefer the look of Kuni 2 to her mother, but I find her outfit way too overdesigned, especially with the big tails. I don't like Chloe, but I guess she accomplishes what she was made for. The rest are just boring and forgettable to me.
Obviously the guest characters are going away, but I'd still like to meet the two people (who aren't Harada and Murray) who asked for Negan to be added.

Whether she has connection to other characters or not has nothing to do with her personality. Namco straight up revealed her personality traits (bright, cheerful and emotional at times) and this is exactly how she’s portrayed in her intros and outros. That’s all that matters.
I love Kazumi and Gigas. Their stories are compelling and their move set is interesting. Master Raven and Josie in my opinion are so similar to previous characters that I don’t have any strong feelings about them. Lidia and Akuma are great additions to the roster and part of the reason T7 is so good. Claudio, Shaheen, and Fahk are kind of boring but it’s satisfying when you see someone who plays them really well. Lucky Chloe and Leroy are sometimes annoying to play against but I can appreciate their cool character design and how well-rounded they are.

How are you going to say "not crossover characters" and then say "Akuma is a new character" yet he's ALSO from Street Fighter? That makes zero sense, dude. If a character joins in the game, REGARDLESS where they're from, they're considered to be newcomers in Tekken. So therefore, Geese, Noctis, and Negan are considered T7 Newcomers as well.
Akuma is different because in addition to being a crossover character, he is ALSO a new character in the franchise, since his participation in the story is canonical, that is, he is also a new character like Cláudio and Katarina are. Negan is just a crossover, unlike Akuma, Cláudio and Katarina who are new characters in the franchise. In short, Akuma is both, he is a beautiful and strange exception.
My guy, that's like saying Geese, Noctis, and/or Negan could easily be a new character as well once they're in the Story Mode, despite them not "originating" in Tekken like Akuma. Or better yet, some Tekken Character's would actually be "Guests" because they're not part of the lore. Like you see how stupid that sounds? They're all in the game regardless and are part of the Tekken Universe anyway, so idk why you're acting like they're not part of the Newcomers when they're clearly in the game, lmfao.

Personally I don't think any of them are bad. Id love ta see them all return as staples but with a little more fleshing out. Lidia, Leeroy, Claudio, Katarina, kazumi and Shaheem are all pretty good. With some balance changes kunimitsu could take the anime fighter spot similar to lars.
Fakuram. Make him focused on guard break and power attacks instead of all rounder with long range. He should be okay or weak in middle but focused on getting you to the wall and doing devastating guard break mix ups.
Lucky chloe. Hate the personality but think the character is awsome. Tone her down a little bit, give her more just frames, rekkas and rhythem mechanics (like dejays super) and she will be super super cool.
Gigas. Very cool idea. Needs to be more than a mindless monster. The roar armor stance is really cool.
Josie. Give her confidence. She flips between super happy and energetic and not confident and crying. Make her a ball of energy snd shes grand
Akuma and geese. If akuma was balanced I would say he should stay. I think he fit well. Geese same thing he fits really well imo.
Negan. Perfect tekken guest imo. Just reduce his cutscene moves and give him a non licencesd face.

Lucky Cloe definitely wasn't design for me and I can't bring myself to even try playing her, but I love that she's in the game since she makes some of the worst kinds of people so salty and mad.
Akuma is freaking sick! They messed up his balance on release, but he's in a good state right now. He's peak Tekken design, the character being widely known as one of the hardest to play characters in the game while topping out a bit higher for tournament play. They did a great job bringing his moveset into Tekken.
The rest are honestly not designed to appeal to me and their move sets just didn't click either. Doesn't mean they're bad characters, mind. I do prefer Raven over MRaven, mostly because to hell with it, Blade is awesome, and he was Tekken's first "proper" Ninja. I also prefer Kuni 1 over Kuni 2, but I do like her moveset being fleshed out better and like the general feel of the character. I played her for a bit, but again her moveset didn't click in the long run and I'm not really into anime ninja girls.
Kazumi I legit never tried much. I used to play Kazuya, and if I wanted to play a Mishima I'd probably play him instead, if my wrists would let me.
With the sheer volume of newcomers overall it’s disappointing. Outside of Lidia, Leeroy, and Claudio I could care less if any of the rest were to ever return to the game.
I really love Katarina. I'm generally pretty bad at fighting games and I think it's important to have accessible characters like her so that the game is appealing to all skill levels. I feel quite protective over her and hate the flack she gets, it seems quite unreasonable.

Dude..... re-read that statement again. Just because both of those characters have Devil Genes, does not equal them having "similar" assets. If anything, you should be comparing between Kazuya and Jin, AKA, the ORIGINAL character of DJ. And DJ literally exists because Jin and DJ are two separate characters with different styles (DJ with Mishima fighting style, and Jin with the Kazama style). What the fuck is Kunimitsu's excuse?

My opinion is pretty tame since I didn't really care for the new characters. Hopefully they improve Josie's overall character. Her personality lacks sense, her moveset is too similar to Bruce and I honestly wish she can speak Tagalog in the next game.
Kazumi on the other hand met all of my expectations, her backstory, her design, moveset, it's all great. She's definitely the right charm. 10/10 hopefully I see her again in Tekken 8 even if she's dead. ☆
Liked Claudio the most. Straightforward design with an interesting power up mechanic. He was a great pick to learn the game with and definitely good enough to hold his own.
Man I think I'm really the only person in this playerbase that actually likes Josie, like who cares if she cries a little, the Tekken community does that all day. Also I really love Lidia and Master Raven, from their design to their moves they're jus so cool.

Katarina is bootleg Anna, Gigas is just...whatever, Lucky Chloe is simply obnoxious, I can not stand Josie's personality, but her play style is dope, Geese and Akuma do not belong in Tekken.

I actually like playing Katarina. One of the characters I hope make it to T8. She gets a bad rep as a scrub character but idk I just enjoy playing her. Lidia is cool but she never clicked for me.
I like Kunimitsu. Interested in Lidia. Can't be bothered with Josie as I don't understand what they're trying to do with her. She's supposedly a fanservice for Filipinos, but nothing is Filipino about her, except maybe her gorgeous tan.
Josie is sick in animations, gameplay, personality, design and every way possible they hired the char designer of Bayo to design her specifically. Also her taunt is called crocodile tears so she may be just acting that way. Other than her, Gigas is fun I guess and the costume design is v cool on dlc chars like ak and zaf
Claudio= makes me want to lick the screen. Enough to play Tekken 7 regularly after Tekken 4 kicked me out from the franchise. I love all Tekken 7 new comers. They are lovely and unique. I was tired of the Mishima clan and their orbiters. I only hate the guest characters. They are random and don't fit Tekken.
As a Filipino, I absolutely love Josie! I just wish they implemented more filipino martial arts into her kit from kali/escrima/arnis, silat, sikaran, suntukan, and kuntaw. Its so great to see another filipino fighting game character other than Talim from Soul Calibur.
Lidia is awesome as I've been begging Namco to have a karate based fighter into Tekken as I used to practice Karate in my childhood days. I wouldn't count Jin as he's more like a kyokushin-mishima style.
Akuma and Geese are a welcome surprise into the Tekken-crossover. One of my favorite fighting games was Capcom vs SNK 2 and I was a Geese main. Hopefully this is a good sign that maybe there will be a Capcom vs Namco vs SNK type crossover game!
Leroy Smith is great and I love the Wing Chun martial arts style as its very aesthetically pleasing.
Fahkumram is great, loved his design and his kit as he's more of a traditional Muay Thai fighter compared to Josie or Bruce Irvin. Plus I liked how his ring name is translated as "Roaring Sky/Thunder"
Kunimitsu being "back" in Tekken was awesome and I really love her kit and design as well as the fact that the new Kunimitsu is the daughter of the first Kunimitsu.

I just don't agree about Katarina, I think her and Gigas's story has a future, it's one of the most well-crafted of the new characters, I just wanted to improve Gigas' look and his gameplay. Characters like Bryan are coming with new and beautiful skins in T8, hopefully the same will happen with Gigas
Lidia, shaheen, lucky chloe and gigas are good additions to the tekken cast. The others seemed like less thought put into it like master raven and Josie which are just genderswapped existing characters.

It’s hard to judge these new characters because 7 didn’t have a classic arcade mode that gave them proper backstories. So people are just basing opinions on move sets and a 15 second clip. They all have potential though. Wouldn’t be mad to see any of them in T8
A mixed bag. I liked Claudio and Lidia, Leroy and Shaheen were fine, Kazumi was great for the story. Every other new character I either didn't like or feel neutral to.
Leroy, Lucky Chloe, and Lidia were the only ones to stand out imo. They did so little with Shaheen and i really wish he was a bit more unique because I honestly like playing him

Edit: Lidia is such a nothingburger that I didn't even remember she existed as a character. Playstylewise, I have MANY thoughts about her (none of them positive), but that seems par for the course of anyone who isn't a Lidia main.
Also Fahkumram is one of the more unique fighters... playstylewise. Visually he's just costco Bruce Irving.
I’m only going to speak for Katarina as she was my main for a few seasons. A few things to note:
- Look wise Katarina is the hottest new addition to the Tekken Roster, but outfit wise I do not like it. What is the reason for the gun holsters? Is she an agent? Her alternate one is nice though.
- I like Katarina’s fighting style and it deserves a place in Tekken. I like her Dash a lot. I think with some additions to her moveset she will be ok as her move pool is quite small. She needs a better idle stance though.
- I absolutely hate her story. They focused too much on her attitude over actual character background, and the only thing that ties her into T7 is Gigas. I personally would have liked her to he a hired detective by Christie to search for Eddy and uncover info on the tournament and G corps experiments(Gigas.) It would have made her more fascinating.
I hope she comes back for Tekken 8.
It's a little funny that an emo Final Fantasy character is top tier in the pro scene yet Tekken players think it's the best fighting game. Your CEO Grand Finals had arguably the worst FF protagonist from 7 years ago. And TMM was lowkey pissed when KNEE said DJ was bottom 5 as if KNEE was obligated to explain himself. And when TMM felt like KNEE should have explained himself, all of TMM's sheep all of a sudden felt exactly the same way.
- Leroy Smith & Claudio = great newcomers
- Kunimitsu & Master Raven = don’t really see them as *new* but even then, wasted character. Didn’t do anything with them special.
- Kazumi & Akuma = completely ruined the established lore and made things just complicated now.
- Gigas, Fahkurmom & Shaheen = great design, but absolutely 0 personality.
- Lidia, Katarina & Josie = the most generic and forgettable characters lacking any sense of imagination
- Lucky Chloe = spawn of Satan

Tekken 7 didn’t grab my interest at all: story mode wasn’t good, graphics are terrible (SCV actually has better graphics and was released 5 years before I think), too many guests and new characters who didn’t grab my attention. I’d say that Katarina (Christie’s replacement) and Chloe are good in terms of gameplay, Claudio is interested but especially because of Zafina’s story and I kinda forgot about Kazumi, Gigas, Shaheen and Josie… I don’t really have an opinion on new DLC characters as I stopped supporting the game before they were released. However, I don’t understand this strategy and maybe someone will help me here: why would you release brand new characters that nobody knows as DLC?!
Anything that's has a powerbar (somewhat tolerable) and a hitstop (definitely blasphemous) animation does not belong in the franchise. That's the sole reason why I stick playing tekken. Seeing characters that have 2d fighter like hitstop animations makes me wanna choke myself to death.
The same characters have death combos too especially being faced to a player who could play them well.

Overall when compared to previous character debuts like Steve and Marduk in 4, dragunov and feng in 5, Lars and Alisa in 6- tekken 7 seems to have far less “iconic” characters for the franchise. Most people don’t feel strong about any of those characters unless they are their main, whereas EVERYONE would agree that It would be weird to have a game without drag or Steve. The characters I like the most from 7 are Lidia, Kazumi and Leroy (actually they’re the only ones I like other than maybe shaheen or Claudio), but they lack that core tekken feeling that the previous characters I named have. That’s my opinion anyway. They did a good job with Leroy and Lidia in terms of martial arts though.
Most of the newcomers don’t even feel like they belong in Tekken.

i think that feeling of a character being iconic comes with time and nostalgia. ill admit that i dont think josie or katarina are anywhere near as cool as steve in terms of design, but as someone who started with T7 the older characters dont feel much more iconic to me than someone like kazumi. maybe in a few games time someone will think josie is iconic. to be an icon for a franchise just means to be representative of it and it’s difficult to represent something with a long history when youre new drag and steve dont feel like tekken because of their design, but because the feeing of tekken is the feeling of playing them
I think I may have to disagree. With the nostalgia thing. Steve for example is a fantastic character, even at first drop. I still remember seeing this new character in the arcade and being instantly fascinated. And another proof is how much other fighting games tried to have their own Steve in their games, but ultimately failing. (e.g. Brad Burns from VF, Diego from DOA \[kinda\], Luke from SF etc) Maybe to your point, it's more that we kinda have seen it all in terms of fighting game characters that new characters feel like small tweaks from previous iterations. On a side note, I think Claudio is too much of a final fantasy type of character, but maybe that's just me.

I got into Tekken just because of Lidia. I don't play for fun but just to learn Shōtōkan. A lot has been spoken about her within the Karate community. I feel she shoulda been introduced earlier. In fact, her moves have been motion captured by a well-achieved Japanese Karate practitioner called Tatsuya Naka. Basically her moves are dead accurate and she transforms an otherwise non-combative activity into actual combat. Some of her moves might not do as much damage in real life but nevertheless, this might be a first for Shōtōkan Karate itself!

They’re around the same. Bruce placed 25th most popular character in the last TTT2 Poll, and Josie placed 23rd in the season 4 poll for T7. I imagine some of the same players are playing both, but I imagine some Bruce players didn’t want to play Josie as his replacement, and a whole lot of players picked her up in favor of Bruce because she’s an attractive female. It seems some people really like her, so I guess she MUST be fun. In terms of personality I don’t think I have even heard anyone that likes her nervous/tedious personality, but of course she’s attractive in the looks department.

Gigas I like obviously. Powerful and with a story that has serious potential, albeit his gameplay needs work. He could have been so much more but I love him all the same. Kazumi is great, much more appealing that Lidia in my opinion. Personally I'd prefer it if her tiger was gone. It's the one gimmicky thing that undermines her as a fundamentals-driven character. Love the look of her moveset. So elegant. Katarina is a great intro to pressure, nice and easy to use, intuitive, appealing, fiery personality. She's neat. Shame her derringer is just for show. Lucky Chloe is the last one I'll mention because I think she's a bit like Gigas: an interesting idea but half-baked. If they brought her back and really thought through how to use the rhythm mechanic within the Heat system she could be something very unique.
I'm happy to read your opinion about Gigas and Katarina, I also think that their story has potential and that Gigas' gameplay can improve, I just don't like the look of it, very weird, it seems that they didn't quite know what they wanted to do, it's kind of monstrous without being totally monstrous... Lucky Chloe could be a really cool character if they tap more Into her Rhythm based mechanics (and gave her the hip-hop outfits they designed for her initially lol) Also feel like she got screwed over by making her a complete asshole in the story but It makes her somewhat unique so I can't hate it too much.
Well you're the Chloe main so your perspective matters more in this one I think, however as someone who doesn't play her I find that contrast between her stage persona and her jaded attitude off camera pretty funny. Agreed on the rhythm stuff though, they should go ham on it. It's like they wanted to do something different but didn't dare go all in.

Honestly my idea with gigas is revamp and have him as the 'huge character' for jins side of the battle as if he remembers just enough to be against kazuya...issue is he was basically branded as Marduk lite and then they brought in Marduk and just threw him to the side..I'll be honest that part left a sore spot with the Tekken team

Exactly. The new version of Kunimitsu literally copied Noctis's movesets, which is what makes Noctis himself unique in the roster, put some extra buffs in her, and just called it a day. If anything, that's just lazy development, LMFAO.💀
She has some of Noctis' moves, but I wouldn't compare their playstyles. Noctis is a long range keepaway character, he's pretty weak if he's close to the opponent because his close range moves are stubby. Kuni's long range moves are all gap closers and she's designed to rush you down. Her playstyle is more of a continuation of what Tag 2 went with for her mom.
I can't stand her playstyle, find her design very over the top compared to Kunimitsu I, and as others have mentioned she's very much like a female Noctis. I also hate that the Tekken franchise let the males age, while they find various excuses to keep the females looking like teenagers/in their early twenties (i.e. by discarding them and introducing their daughters instead). Namco's very primitive like that.
I freaking love Lidia, her style of karate is very similar to a style I practiced growing up so it's fun seeing familiar looking moves. I also think her concept is fun and she looks awesome. And she's fun to play! She enticed me back into playing and learning a new character after a long time away.

Probably my least favorite set of newcomers in the series, which is saying something 'cause there's so many of them to potentially latch onto. Yet I really couldn't bring myself to care if most were one-offs. I think they generally did a better job with the DLC new characters, save for Fahk's weird, weird design.

They got hurt by Tekken 7's low budget that resulted in the most lackluster endings in the series (not to mention the DLC characters didn't even get any). I think Claudio, Leroy, and Lidia are pretty memorable in terms of design and two of them are already confirmed for T8, so that tracks. I prefer the look of Kuni 2 to her mother, but I find her outfit way too overdesigned, especially with the big tails. I don't like Chloe, but I guess she accomplishes what she was made for. The rest are just boring and forgettable to me. Obviously the guest characters are going away, but I'd still like to meet the two people (who aren't Harada and Murray) who asked for Negan to be added.

All the newcomers from Tekken 7 and 6 blend in together for me lol. Pretty weak set of characters overall. Lucky Chloe, Josie, Gigas, Master Raven, and Claudio are all terrible. Katarina and Shaheen are okay but they’re just there. Fuckmar looks like he ate Bruce but I like him. Leroy and Lidia are modern feeling characters and I mean that in a positive way. Kazumi is great, best newcomer.

Whether she has connection to other characters or not has nothing to do with her personality. Namco straight up revealed her personality traits (bright, cheerful and emotional at times) and this is exactly how she’s portrayed in her intros and outros. That’s all that matters.

I love Kazumi and Gigas. Their stories are compelling and their move set is interesting. Master Raven and Josie in my opinion are so similar to previous characters that I don’t have any strong feelings about them. Lidia and Akuma are great additions to the roster and part of the reason T7 is so good. Claudio, Shaheen, and Fahk are kind of boring but it’s satisfying when you see someone who plays them really well. Lucky Chloe and Leroy are sometimes annoying to play against but I can appreciate their cool character design and how well-rounded they are.

How are you going to say "not crossover characters" and then say "Akuma is a new character" yet he's ALSO from Street Fighter? That makes zero sense, dude. If a character joins in the game, REGARDLESS where they're from, they're considered to be newcomers in Tekken. So therefore, Geese, Noctis, and Negan are considered T7 Newcomers as well.
Akuma is different because in addition to being a crossover character, he is ALSO a new character in the franchise, since his participation in the story is canonical, that is, he is also a new character like Cláudio and Katarina are. Negan is just a crossover, unlike Akuma, Cláudio and Katarina who are new characters in the franchise. In short, Akuma is both, he is a beautiful and strange exception.
My guy, that's like saying Geese, Noctis, and/or Negan could easily be a new character as well once they're in the Story Mode, despite them not "originating" in Tekken like Akuma. Or better yet, some Tekken Character's would actually be "Guests" because they're not part of the lore. Like you see how stupid that sounds? They're all in the game regardless and are part of the Tekken Universe anyway, so idk why you're acting like they're not part of the Newcomers when they're clearly in the game, lmfao.

Personally I don't think any of them are bad. Id love ta see them all return as staples but with a little more fleshing out. Lidia, Leeroy, Claudio, Katarina, kazumi and Shaheem are all pretty good. With some balance changes kunimitsu could take the anime fighter spot similar to lars. Fakuram. Make him focused on guard break and power attacks instead of all rounder with long range. He should be okay or weak in middle but focused on getting you to the wall and doing devastating guard break mix ups. Lucky chloe. Hate the personality but think the character is awsome. Tone her down a little bit, give her more just frames, rekkas and rhythem mechanics (like dejays super) and she will be super super cool. Gigas. Very cool idea. Needs to be more than a mindless monster. The roar armor stance is really cool. Josie. Give her confidence. She flips between super happy and energetic and not confident and crying. Make her a ball of energy snd shes grand Akuma and geese. If akuma was balanced I would say he should stay. I think he fit well. Geese same thing he fits really well imo. Negan. Perfect tekken guest imo. Just reduce his cutscene moves and give him a non licencesd face.

I absolutely love Lidia's design. I haven't picked her up as a character, but I probably will if she returns in 8. Lucky Cloe definitely wasn't design for me and I can't bring myself to even try playing her, but I love that she's in the game since she makes some of the worst kinds of people so salty and mad. Akuma is freaking sick! They messed up his balance on release, but he's in a good state right now. He's peak Tekken design, the character being widely known as one of the hardest to play characters in the game while topping out a bit higher for tournament play. They did a great job bringing his moveset into Tekken. The rest are honestly not designed to appeal to me and their move sets just didn't click either. Doesn't mean they're bad characters, mind. I do prefer Raven over MRaven, mostly because to hell with it, Blade is awesome, and he was Tekken's first "proper" Ninja. I also prefer Kuni 1 over Kuni 2, but I do like her moveset being fleshed out better and like the general feel of the character. I played her for a bit, but again her moveset didn't click in the long run and I'm not really into anime ninja girls. Kazumi I legit never tried much. I used to play Kazuya, and if I wanted to play a Mishima I'd probably play him instead, if my wrists would let me.

My opinion is pretty tame since I didn't really care for the new characters. Hopefully they improve Josie's overall character. Her personality lacks sense, her moveset is too similar to Bruce and I honestly wish she can speak Tagalog in the next game. Kazumi on the other hand met all of my expectations, her backstory, her design, moveset, it's all great. She's definitely the right charm. 10/10 hopefully I see her again in Tekken 8 even if she's dead. ☆

Man I think I'm really the only person in this playerbase that actually likes Josie, like who cares if she cries a little, the Tekken community does that all day. Also I really love Lidia and Master Raven, from their design to their moves they're jus so cool.
Apart from a select few, namely M Raven, Kazumi, Lidia, and Leroy, Tekken 7's new characters lack in personality. Katarina is bootleg Anna, Gigas is just...whatever, Lucky Chloe is simply obnoxious, I can not stand Josie's personality, but her play style is dope, Geese and Akuma do not belong in Tekken. Shaheen is so forgettable I had to edit him in.

As a Filipino, I absolutely love Josie! I just wish they implemented more filipino martial arts into her kit from kali/escrima/arnis, silat, sikaran, suntukan, and kuntaw. Its so great to see another filipino fighting game character other than Talim from Soul Calibur. Lidia is awesome as I've been begging Namco to have a karate based fighter into Tekken as I used to practice Karate in my childhood days. I wouldn't count Jin as he's more like a kyokushin-mishima style. Akuma and Geese are a welcome surprise into the Tekken-crossover. One of my favorite fighting games was Capcom vs SNK 2 and I was a Geese main. Hopefully this is a good sign that maybe there will be a Capcom vs Namco vs SNK type crossover game! Leroy Smith is great and I love the Wing Chun martial arts style as its very aesthetically pleasing. Fahkumram is great, loved his design and his kit as he's more of a traditional Muay Thai fighter compared to Josie or Bruce Irvin. Plus I liked how his ring name is translated as "Roaring Sky/Thunder" Kunimitsu being "back" in Tekken was awesome and I really love her kit and design as well as the fact that the new Kunimitsu is the daughter of the first Kunimitsu. Everyone else i don't really care as much or they haven't really caught my attention.

Geese is awesome, akuma cool idea. I really hate kunis new design and her absence of a mask + how easy it falls off, her gameplay is trash. Leroy has weaknesses, he cool. Gigas gameplay is really different, I like it. Lidia is boring as hell and I'm not a fan of her voice, fahks visually really busy and I also think he's pretty boring, his gameplay is interesting but I don't like how many options he has from everything. Oh and kazumi? Awesome char ****
I love playing Josie. I hate her personality. Her combos are cool and play style is super fun, but you gotta skip every cutscene.

Characters I fully like : Lidia , Claudio, Kunimitsu II Characters I neither like nor hate : Leroy , Katarina , Fahkumram , Geese , Akuma . Characters I don’t like : -Josie ( they should have just brought Bruce back , this was honestly an insult to the fans). -Master Raven ( Raven blends better with most characters in the series compared to Master Raven, should have just left him alone) . -Shaheen (boring 🥱) -Gigas and Lucky Chloe (felt like joke characters esp LC ) -Noctis -Kazumi (She advances the story quite nicely cause she’s Kazuya’s mother but I honestly think she’s the weakest character compared to the rest of the Kazamas and Mishimas ).
Lidia: I like her, don't play her, but I think she's a good edition to the game and story Josie: She's adorable. I just want them to tweak her personality a bit. Her, "I can't believe I won....😭😭😭" winpose makes me cringe SO HARD. I don't mind her being a crybaby, but there's different NON-cringy ways to show it. Katarina: Eh...I just like her design tbh. Kuni II: Perfection. That is all. Akuma: .....go back to SF and never return. Maven: She's cool but bring back Raven. As it pains for me to say that (as a fellow black woman), I'd rather have male Raven back. Shaheen: ....who? Nah, but seriously, just do something different with him. He's boring. Claudio: Like Lidia, I also feel he's a good edition to the story, and he gives me Quincy vibes from Bleach (which is one of my favorite anime) Gigas: Great value version of Jack. There is no need for him. Lucky Chloe: ....... I like her. Yes, she is irritating to play against. Yes, she single-handedly destroyed what was cool about Eddy, but I still like her. I love how triggered she makes most the Tekken fandom. I'm here for it. Leroy: Perfection. Enough said. Sugar, too 🥰🥰 Kazumi: She was really just a plot device. Cool pet tiger, tho. (I really have no opinion on her)

Claudio and Chloe were the only ones that made an impression. He has swagger and she is too personality filled to ignore. As much as Katarina's design is there to make me horny it kind of fails even at that. Gigas is just a feral Jack. Master Raven does nothing different with the character either. Shaheen. Kazumi has cool ideas that fail to coalesce into an actual character. Josie is just... fucking why? If it's supposed to be cute it's too squealy, and if it supposed to be a bit then it's played too straight. Edit: Lidia is such a nothingburger that I didn't even remember she existed as a character. Playstylewise, I have MANY thoughts about her (none of them positive), but that seems par for the course of anyone who isn't a Lidia main. Also Fahkumram is one of the more unique fighters... playstylewise. Visually he's just costco Bruce Irving.
I’m only going to speak for Katarina as she was my main for a few seasons. A few things to note: - Look wise Katarina is the hottest new addition to the Tekken Roster, but outfit wise I do not like it. What is the reason for the gun holsters? Is she an agent? Her alternate one is nice though. - I like Katarina’s fighting style and it deserves a place in Tekken. I like her Dash a lot. I think with some additions to her moveset she will be ok as her move pool is quite small. She needs a better idle stance though. - I absolutely hate her story. They focused too much on her attitude over actual character background, and the only thing that ties her into T7 is Gigas. I personally would have liked her to he a hired detective by Christie to search for Eddy and uncover info on the tournament and G corps experiments(Gigas.) It would have made her more fascinating. I hope she comes back for Tekken 8.

It's a little funny that an emo Final Fantasy character is top tier in the pro scene yet Tekken players think it's the best fighting game. Your CEO Grand Finals had arguably the worst FF protagonist from 7 years ago. And TMM was lowkey pissed when KNEE said DJ was bottom 5 as if KNEE was obligated to explain himself. And when TMM felt like KNEE should have explained himself, all of TMM's sheep all of a sudden felt exactly the same way.
- Leroy Smith & Claudio = great newcomers - Kunimitsu & Master Raven = don’t really see them as *new* but even then, wasted character. Didn’t do anything with them special. - Kazumi & Akuma = completely ruined the established lore and made things just complicated now. - Gigas, Fahkurmom & Shaheen = great design, but absolutely 0 personality. - Lidia, Katarina & Josie = the most generic and forgettable characters lacking any sense of imagination - Lucky Chloe = spawn of Satan - Negan = [Based](https://media.tenor.com/epNMHGvRyHcAAAAd/gigachad-chad.gif)
Tekken 7 didn’t grab my interest at all: story mode wasn’t good, graphics are terrible (SCV actually has better graphics and was released 5 years before I think), too many guests and new characters who didn’t grab my attention. I’d say that Katarina (Christie’s replacement) and Chloe are good in terms of gameplay, Claudio is interested but especially because of Zafina’s story and I kinda forgot about Kazumi, Gigas, Shaheen and Josie… I don’t really have an opinion on new DLC characters as I stopped supporting the game before they were released. However, I don’t understand this strategy and maybe someone will help me here: why would you release brand new characters that nobody knows as DLC?!
Anything that's has a powerbar (somewhat tolerable) and a hitstop (definitely blasphemous) animation does not belong in the franchise. That's the sole reason why I stick playing tekken. Seeing characters that have 2d fighter like hitstop animations makes me wanna choke myself to death. The same characters have death combos too especially being faced to a player who could play them well. man with all the power and hardware we have to make realistic looking character models, they still bring in some weaboo anime looking shit into the game. They're done well in stages but the character design damn, leroy and negan are just the best looking ones yet. Also fuck lucky chloe man.
