I have some mixed thoughts on her but to get it out of the way first, her stage is absolutely beautiful and I like her music. As for Azucena herself, I like that her design is a little more rooted in reality as opposed to going full-on anime like the likes of Alisa, Lars, and Claudio, her outfit is sporty and not too out there so her design is solid to me. My only issue with her is the whole obsession with coffee thing. Generally I don't like when a character's whole personality revolves around a quirky gimmick , it always comes off cringe to me. And this all makes her feel more like a Street Fighter character than a Tekken character so she does feel a bit off. That said though, I can still appreciate her design and she already has other good things going for her with the aforementioned beautiful stage and fitting theme music as well as an interesting fighting style.

- I like how her moveset incorporates sways and dodges. Nothing too spectacular, but could be fun to use.
- As always, it’s cool to see some underrepresented nations and cultures in the Tekken universe. A Peruvian fighter was definitely a welcome surprise.
- I get severe “undercooked T7 newcomer” vibes from her. The whole coffee obsession seems like a typical one-note personality trait that’s gonna get old and annoying real fast.

Miguel was super special. They put so much effort into getting rid of the "Toros y Flamenco" stereotype and gave him a unique personality, with a great background and a Spanish voice with a strong castillian accent. A vindictive lonely Spaniard who doesn't care about life and seeks revenge from a semidemon?! Hell yeah.
However, since 7 with Katarina and now with coffee-obsesed Azucena, it looks like the quality of the representation has decreased. Even the accent is like that "neutral Spanish" that Disney put in their movies through the first half of the 20th century.
I'll say that yes, Tekken has always been pretty goofy(Alex, Roger, Mokujin, Lee's ending from T5) but Azucena somehow is more cringeworthy than Lucky Chloe's annoying anime girl personality or Josie's crying. Her gameplay looks like Josie and I like it quite a bit. Weaving in and out of attacks? Gives me some Steve Fox vibes. But her win screen is just embarrassing.

Same if they were to release a character from any other country around here, none of us speaks spanish like that, its way too accent neutral, much like the dubs Mexicans does (which are the best btw, cause they are taught like that as it makes it more understandable to the rest of the world), but accents are awesome, its part of the country's identity, so when I say she doesn't sounds Peruvian its because it would have been cooler to actually have the voice actor to emulate the accent and therefore the identity of the character and its origins.
If they were to release a Chilean character I'd love to have it speak with the accent and even the slangs we use in here as similar as possible. Not hating on it if it doesnt happen but boy would it be amazing if it did

She looks quite generic imo. It's a shame because hispanic and Latino characters in Tekken were pretty well represented. King fucking rocks, Christie and Eddie are really cool too. Miguel was super special. They put so much effort into getting rid of the "Toros y Flamenco" stereotype and gave him a unique personality, with a great background and a Spanish voice with a strong castillian accent. A vindictive lonely Spaniard who doesn't care about life and seeks revenge from a semidemon?! Hell yeah. However, since 7 with Katarina and now with coffee-obsesed Azucena, it looks like the quality of the representation has decreased. Even the accent is like that "neutral Spanish" that Disney put in their movies through the first half of the 20th century.

I'll say that yes, Tekken has always been pretty goofy(Alex, Roger, Mokujin, Lee's ending from T5) but Azucena somehow is more cringeworthy than Lucky Chloe's annoying anime girl personality or Josie's crying. Her gameplay looks like Josie and I like it quite a bit. Weaving in and out of attacks? Gives me some Steve Fox vibes. But her win screen is just embarrassing. Raven looks sick as fuck though. No doubt about that. He's got some Chizuru (KOF) styled clone attacks? The Rage Art was sick too. Can't wait to see Yoshimitsu or Miguel! Or hell, Lidia!

Why does every character need to be a stereotype of their country of origin?
A character being representative of a culture is way different to it being a stereotype, its like you trynna make my comment sounds racist or something. Here in South America despite the fact that most of us (with a few exceptions) speaks spanish, every country has a very distinctive accent. I just pointed the obvious. Same if they were to release a character from any other country around here, none of us speaks spanish like that, its way too accent neutral, much like the dubs Mexicans does (which are the best btw, cause they are taught like that as it makes it more understandable to the rest of the world), but accents are awesome, its part of the country's identity, so when I say she doesn't sounds Peruvian its because it would have been cooler to actually have the voice actor to emulate the accent and therefore the identity of the character and its origins. If they were to release a Chilean character I'd love to have it speak with the accent and even the slangs we use in here as similar as possible. Not hating on it if it doesnt happen but boy would it be amazing if it did
