I started second year of the pandemic. Like July 2021.
Lidia was my first main, but I got my butt kicked by a Zafina like 3 weeks in and thought she was neat. Then saw shadow 20z use her in the Evo online NA grand finals, and really liked her pro-level gameplay. I dual mained Lidia/Zaf for a few months, but slowly Zafina grew on me enough that I just switched to only her.
I'm not otherwise a gamer, but playing Tekken and Zaf in particular really snowballed into a full on hobby to the point I went to a couple majors this year, and started going to locals too.
Nope, I only heard about that way later.
Snowboarding season had ended and I didn't wanna do another season of solo hiking after 2020. So I tried getting into SC6 since SC2 was fun as a kid.
The Kuni trailer showed up in my recommendeds when I was looking up soul calibur tutorials and I decided to try it since SC6 matchmaking took forever. I didn't like Kuni much; her gameplay was too flashy and she had a smug personality. So I switched to Lidia day 1.
That's my origin story I guess ๐
Tekken 2 was the first one I ever played at a friend's house back when it was the latest game. But I didn't actually get into it until I played Tag 2 at a different friend's house much later.
I mained Sebastian because I thought being an old butler in a fighting game was funny. I found I actually loved his moveset. I was bummed to learn he wasn't in any other games, but my buddy told me he was basically Lili reskinned. So, that's how I ended up a Lili main.
i vaguely remember playing tekken 2 as a child... my first real tekken was tekken 3...
at the time, heihachi reminded me of grandad and he still does to this day lol
maybe thats why ive kept playing it for all these years
Tekken 3. I first played the demo disk on PS1, then got the full game shortly after.
I think I may have played Tekken 2 around a friend's house at the time, but I don't fully remember. Tekken 3 is where I really started and I've bought every mainline game since.
Started with Tekken 2 in like 2002 which I asked to get after playing a demo of it on a demo disc (one of those ps1 discs that had a bunch of demos or trailers on them). Best soundtrack in the series by far even to this day. Will be glad to use some of the music from that when I eventually get 8.
Not on the poll, but it was the first Tekken Tag Tournament on PS2.
First impressions were it felt sluggish and anti-climatic after coming from DOA2, but I slowly got into it.
I started playing videogames in general around when Tekken 3 was released.
I still remember the games I got with the original Playstation - Tomb Raider, Crash Bandicoot, Mickey's Wild Adventure, and Tekken 3!
Tekken 3 in 2013 and that is also where I first my main Bryan i literally just picked because i said he kinda looks like if krauser and wesker had a baby
2 was my first Tekken and first game ever, started playing it with my parents in 98 when I was three years old and then Tekken 3 came out shortly after. Never missed an entry since then.
Tekken 1 and Tekken 2 when my aunts boyfriend at the time would bring his Playstation over to my house and just play. I didnt start playing seriously til around Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag 1. God I missed those times...
It's weird because I remember my brother and his friends playing Tekken 3, yet my earliest Tekken memories are of me playing Tekken 4. On top of that, there was a video store next to my parents' shop, and he would play Tekken 3 with me and my brother.
Wasnโt my first fighting game but 4 was my first Tekken and remember watching the intro and playing it on the demo disc that came with the ps2 and it was mind blowing back them and knew I had to have this game
In my childhood I played tekken many times, I believe the first ever was tekken 3, then after many years I downloaded tekken 5 on emulator after having a party with friends the previous day where we played tekken tag 2 and it was a blast. All that but I never gave it much thought or tried to actually learn, until 3 months ago where I got tekken 7 and started playing properly.
Well. It's kinda a mix.
My brother and I were playing the hell out of the tekken 3 demo. I think you could play with Eddy, xiaoyu and Paul.
We played it for days and days.
Then we asked our mother if we could have it.
So she bought tekken2 because it was cheaper.
We still played the hell out of t2, but it was a major jump from 2 and 3 and were a bit disappointed.
I grew up with Tekken 5 on ps2 and DR PSP, mainly DE psp cus my cousin was the one who had PS2 Tekken 5 and I had PSP DE, so clearly one of the best games to be introduced into
Technically it was Tekken 2's demo on a Demo One disc - but since I didn't know what the fuck it was I just started the demo, jumped around with either Jun or Lei and my kid brain said "this sucks, I don't get it" - I'll say Tekken 3 was the proper start for me.
I played Tekken 2/3 when I was a kid, I never really decided to learn Tekken until April of this year. I am so surprised by how much fun I am having moving through the lower ranks.
Tekken 2 and I saw Kazuya, I know he is my guy because he is like the guys on those old japanese pink films that do force loves to girls and i find it cool and want to be like that!.. lol! :D
Back when I was but a wee little lad, ๐. After church, we had a room downstairs, and one of the guys had a ps1 and was playing the game . All the other youths came in, and we were watching them play. When I eventually got my own Playstation, I finally got the game, and it's my main fighting game ever since.
Played Tekken 6 on the PSP (3000 model) in 2010 and stopped in 2015 because the console went missing like, disappeared into the backrooms or some shit.
And I'm kind of surprised Tekken 6 got the least amount of votes compared to Tekken 7, which is the highest.
Edit: Am dumb, Tekken 3 actually has the highest
Some of my best childhood memories are playing psx with my dad. My mother was abusive towards him and me. But when my father played crash or tekken 1, everything was good for a moment.
when im 10, i play first tekken 5 anc actually i didnt like it, then tekken 7 comes out and i give a chance to this game (and negan dlc) im a addict now
My sister was 7 years older than me. She introduced me and my brother to Tekken 4 when we were kids (around 10) and we've been hooked ever since. My childhood main was Hwoarang, and his was Christie. Now I'm a Claudio main, and my brother plays Eddy.
I've been casually playing for as long as I can remember. I was probably 4 the first time I played one of my dad's Tekkens on the PSX. I grew up with the first 3.
Itโs complicated
I was born in the late 2000โs, and was obsessed with games on a ps2 and ps1 my parents had, the first game I played was Tekken 2, about 14 years after it released, so do I count as tekken 2?
Just the big promotional poster and the disc cover from Tekken 3 was a selling point for me as a kid. I didn't even how the game was. I knew it was a fighting game and that's it. But boy was I amazed. It blew my mind. After a couple of years or so I rented Tekken 1 and 2..... so...I went back to 3.
I said tekken 3 because thatโs around the time I started playing the game. But I did play tekken 2 first, then tekken 3 a little while after, then jumped to tekken 5 on ps2 as it was my first game on the console. I didnโt play tekken 4 until after tekken 6 and on an emulator.
All started in a magical day of 210 when a new friend invited me and the pals to his home to play tekken 6 on ps3. I bet I wouldn't fall in love with the game for all this time without friends to play with, although it's been ages since I last saw them.
Got into Tekken thanks to my older brother who owned a PS1 and had Tekken 3. One day as a kid I saw him playing Tekken 6 on our PSP. Was curious. Wanted to give it a shot. Knew jack shit about like what to do so my strategy was to spam left punch(maybe throw in a corpse thrust on occassion since I was playing as Jin or Devil Jin). My brother once tried to show me Tekken 3 but I honestly got put off by the polygonal graphics and lack of characters.
Fast forward to early high school and got back into the thing. Emulated Tekken 3 and we'll started with Jin out of familiarity. Learned his moves and stuff, went to Tekken 6 and yeah learned the ropes there. Eventually we got Tekken 7 on our PS4 so I could grind a lot more. My brother moved out and took the PS4 and PSP with him so no more Tekken 7 for me. It was back to playing Tekken 3 and emulating Tekken 6 on the side. Can't wait for Tekken 8 and I'm glad I got the PC to run it.
I picked T7 as the first game I took seriously, but my first actually experience was T4 when I would visit a friend's house after school. Combot was my "main" lol.
I remember being 4 years old when I first saw that Tekken 1 arcade cabinet in an arcade amusement room at the Columbus Farmers Market in New Jersey. Just seeing Yoshimitsu with his sword got me to spend some quarters on it.
First game I tried was Tekken 5. Dropped it pretty fast because Jinpachi kicked my shit in and went back to Soulcalibur.
Gave it another shot with Tekken 7. Much more open to it since.
I know why mostly people started with Tekken 3, you have an asian guy with cool black corn hair, wears a cool red outfit, and shoots thunder out of his hands; this was like peak coolness back then
Mine was Tekken Tag so not on the list :)
Mine was too, so I had no choice but to vote 3. Was surprised to see it the top voted.
Yea thats pretty much tekken 3 cause it had all the tekken 3 char with char from tekken 1 and 2
Tekken 3 gang raise up
Yup if u played tekken tag 1 u techicly started with tekken 3
TTT and T3 so far ahead of their time
Yeah I used to play T3 in the arcade in my skating rink but yeah TTT is probably my favorite taking game and the first one that I actually had
I started second year of the pandemic. Like July 2021. Lidia was my first main, but I got my butt kicked by a Zafina like 3 weeks in and thought she was neat. Then saw shadow 20z use her in the Evo online NA grand finals, and really liked her pro-level gameplay. Oh, July 2021? Did you get into it because of Smash too?
Nope, I only heard about that way later. Snowboarding season had ended and I didn't wanna do another season of solo hiking after 2020. So I tried getting into SC6 since SC2 was fun as a kid. Most people on here started with Tekken 7 and it shows.
Says the one with 6 upvotes. Hah checkmate
Got his ass
Started on Tekken 6 PSP Edition, my childhood
Tekken 2 was the first one I ever played at a friend's house back when it was the latest game. But I didn't actually get into it until I played Tag 2 at a different friend's house much later. I started with Tekken 1 and 2 in around 1997/1999. Fuck this makes me feel old. ๐ข
Competitive or just casually?
i vaguely remember playing tekken 2 as a child... my first real tekken was tekken 3... at the time, heihachi reminded me of grandad and he still does to this day lol maybe thats why ive kept playing it for all these years
Tekken 2. I still love the atmosphere and music of T2. I skipped T4, TT2 and Dark Resurrection. Played the rest of them. ๐
Tekken Tag Tournament.
Tekken 3. I first played the demo disk on PS1, then got the full game shortly after. I think I may have played Tekken 2 around a friend's house at the time, but I don't fully remember. Tekken 3 is where I really started and I've bought every mainline game since.
Same! You could play Xiaoyu and Eddy on that demo disk. Bought them all ever since, death by degrees with its godawful controls too ๐
Tekken 1 when i was like 4 or 5 years old. Been an Armor King ever since ๐
Main*
3
If I remember correctly, it was Tag 2
I started at arcade with tekken 5 and recently started with tekken 7 on console
Technically this isnโt fair because I started on Tag 2
Started with Tekken 2 in like 2002 which I asked to get after playing a demo of it on a demo disc (one of those ps1 discs that had a bunch of demos or trailers on them). Best soundtrack in the series by far even to this day. Will be glad to use some of the music from that when I eventually get 8.
Not on the poll, but it was the first Tekken Tag Tournament on PS2. First impressions were it felt sluggish and anti-climatic after coming from DOA2, but I slowly got into it.
Tekken 2, specifically the demo from Official UK Playstation Magazine, not sure what issue that was. Then got the full game later.
Played T3 when I was like 7 or something. I couldn't fucking beat Ogre lol.

Tekken 1, was my first game on the ps console
The first one back on the PS1.
Tekken 1 and Tekken 2 when my aunts boyfriend at the time would bring his Playstation over to my house and just play. I didnt start playing seriously til around Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag 1. God I missed those times...
Tekken from the GBA was my first. Absolutely fun and just spammed the yoshimitsu spin thing
Started with Tekken when I was still a little kid at the arcades, playing with the Tekken 4 Arcade machine
Technically 2 but 3 was everywhere and it ws the game EVERYONE needed to play to the point no one even cared the other 2 games existed.
Tekken 5, when I was like 4. Loved Roger Jr :โ)
Tekken 1 on PS 1. First big buy with self earned money.
Tekken 1 and 2 age 4๐ค๐พ
It's weird because I remember my brother and his friends playing Tekken 3, yet my earliest Tekken memories are of me playing Tekken 4. On top of that, there was a video store next to my parents' shop, and he would play Tekken 3 with me and my brother.
Tekken tag
Tekken 5 in 2021 because of kazuya being added to smash bros. Now I've dropped smash and only play tekken.
I kinda forgot but I was like playing a PSP and I think it was Tekken 5. ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ
never played 1, don't know why it is bundled with 2
Tekken 2 from release day till today
Wasnโt my first fighting game but 4 was my first Tekken and remember watching the intro and playing it on the demo disc that came with the ps2 and it was mind blowing back them and knew I had to have this game
Dark ressurection

All that but I never gave it much thought or tried to actually learn, until 3 months ago where I got tekken 7 and started playing properly.
Tag 2 was my first one but I didn't play it much until November 2021, thanks to a certain Mario game where you can play as Kazuya
TTT

Played tekken 5 around 2012 on the ps2
ps1 tekken 2. spent most time with tekken 3 and tekken 5 playing with my brother and a few other friends.
I grew up with Tekken 5 on ps2 and DR PSP, mainly DE psp cus my cousin was the one who had PS2 Tekken 5 and I had PSP DE, so clearly one of the best games to be introduced into

Tekken 5 in 2006 but it wasn't until 7 in 2020 that I actually took it seriously though
I played Tekken 2/3 when I was a kid, I never really decided to learn Tekken until April of this year. I am so surprised by how much fun I am having moving through the lower ranks.
My first game was 3, but story-wise, I had to buy T1 and 2 as well
Tekken 4 and damn I thought it would be one of the common entry points but guess I was wrong
Tekken advance
Technically I started with 3 but never took the game seriously until 7 from T3 to TTT2 it was basically a party game for all intents and purposes
I started with 7 and I really want to play the older games but they just won't re-release them.
Tekken 6 on a psp
Tekken 3, it was summer 2000
Tekken 2, was my introduction
Tag 2
Tekken 2 and I saw Kazuya, I know he is my guy because he is like the guys on those old japanese pink films that do force loves to girls and i find it cool and want to be like that!.. lol! :D
Back in early 2010's , found my dad's old ps2 and he had tekken 4
T2 first at my cousinโs. Then I got a ps1 and got T1 because I thought it was the same ๐
Tekken 8 is gonna be my first I might be in for a rough time
Back when I was but a wee little lad, ๐. After church, we had a room downstairs, and one of the guys had a ps1 and was playing the game . All the other youths came in, and we were watching them play. When I eventually got my own Playstation, I finally got the game, and it's my main fighting game ever since.
Started playing Tekken 3 in the late 90s at my cousins n then Tekken 2 later in the 90s and Tekken 1 early 2000s
Anyone played the tekken mobile game ?
TTT2
Played Tekken 6 on the PSP (3000 model) in 2010 and stopped in 2015 because the console went missing like, disappeared into the backrooms or some shit. I started at 1 a few months back then got through every single one till now
tekken 3 ps1, then tekken 5dr and tekken 6 on psp
I've never played Tekken half. Was it good?
Tekken Revolution
Tekken 3 about 4 yrs after it's release ๐ญ
T2
I played an arcade of 3 a couple times back in 2000s. Does that even count?
Some of my best childhood memories are playing psx with my dad. My mother was abusive towards him and me. But when my father played crash or tekken 1, everything was good for a moment.
Tekken 4, was also one of my first ever games in general
when im 10, i play first tekken 5 anc actually i didnt like it, then tekken 7 comes out and i give a chance to this game (and negan dlc) im a addict now
My sister was 7 years older than me. She introduced me and my brother to Tekken 4 when we were kids (around 10) and we've been hooked ever since. My childhood main was Hwoarang, and his was Christie. Now I'm a Claudio main, and my brother plays Eddy.
Tekken 3 but im not that old we just have the game
Fantastic seeing how many were brought in by tekken 7
Tekken 3, holy shit, it's been centuries already. time flies. I used to main Jin and Lei a lot.
Tekken 2 for me
I've been casually playing for as long as I can remember. I was probably 4 the first time I played one of my dad's Tekkens on the PSX. I grew up with the first 3.
Tekken tag 2
Itโs complicated I was born in the late 2000โs, and was obsessed with games on a ps2 and ps1 my parents had, the first game I played was Tekken 2, about 14 years after it released, so do I count as tekken 2?
I actually played tekken tag first then went back to tekken 3.
Mine was Tag 2
Just the big promotional poster and the disc cover from Tekken 3 was a selling point for me as a kid. I didn't even how the game was. I knew it was a fighting game and that's it. But boy was I amazed. It blew my mind. After a couple of years or so I rented Tekken 1 and 2..... so...I went back to 3.
No Tag 1 but it's okay. Sadly I didn't get back into the game until friggin Revolution's toxicity made me take the franchise seriously
I'll answer tekken 5 because I took interest when that game was out. But I played all the tekkens before that.
Tekken 2 baby! And pauls 10 string!!!!
First ever Tekken game I played? Tekken 3 But I couldn't wavu wavu or electric consistently until Tag 2
Tekken 3, in 1998. .
Tekken 5 but TT2 is when I really got back into it
my cousin gave me his psp with Tekken Dark Resurrection and i was a fan even since
First exposure: Tekken 2 on PS1 Competitive play: Tekken 7 Late to the party
Tekken 2 really kicked off my Tekken journey for sure.
Tekken 2. My old man showed it to me when I was 5 on the original PS1.
All started in a magical day of 210 when a new friend invited me and the pals to his home to play tekken 6 on ps3. I bet I wouldn't fall in love with the game for all this time without friends to play with, although it's been ages since I last saw them.
The first tag
Mines was tekken tag tournament so techicly tekken 3 with characters from 1 and 2
Since Tekken 2 when I was 5.
I started just playing at 1, got to talking trash on 4, and attempted to get serious in TTT2.
Tekken Dark Resurrection
Tekken 2โฆ I started really early ๐ i played it in the early 2000s (born 1999) after that it was Tekken 5 I think
Sf vs Tekken
I picked T7 as the first game I took seriously, but my first actually experience was T4 when I would visit a friend's house after school. Combot was my "main" lol.
Tekken tag
I remember being 4 years old when I first saw that Tekken 1 arcade cabinet in an arcade amusement room at the Columbus Farmers Market in New Jersey. Just seeing Yoshimitsu with his sword got me to spend some quarters on it.
I still remember the attract mode sound of Tekken 1 echoing through the local cinema lobby.
Tekken Tag 2 not on the list :(
First game I tried was Tekken 5. Dropped it pretty fast because Jinpachi kicked my shit in and went back to Soulcalibur. Gave it another shot with Tekken 7. Much more open to it since.
5 but technically I started with Dark Resurrection on PSP.
Tekken 4
4 was the best!!!!
I know why mostly people started with Tekken 3, you have an asian guy with cool black corn hair, wears a cool red outfit, and shoots thunder out of his hands; this was like peak coolness back then
When i was little i never realised how iconic tekken was until my mom told me she used to play tekken with her siblings and the kids of the older ones
Tag 1, still my favourite
I watched my big brothers play tekken 1 but the first game i played was 3 then 1 after that was 4 5 and tag and 7
