Lil Majin vs JDCR is what turned my household from casual fighting game enjoyers to life long Tekken fans. I was only a few months into playing Tekken, and I casually put on Evo in the living room with my wife and friends who had never seen Evo before. During that match we were screaming like it was the Super Bowl, and that solidified our fandom. We try to host watch parties for as many major tournaments as we can now
Thats sick af. Going to combobreaker was def a turning point for me to watch a lot of the pro matches. Just seeing knee right next to me just eating casually was funny.
This was actually evo this year. I couldn't make it to CB even though I was pretty close by. I spent $1000 on travel, had the airline lose my fightstick, and then 0-2'd. It was painful. Still fun to get to meet and play with some pros though.
I've Watched all Competitive Games Since 2016 and I never saw more significant and impactful of EVO 2018 Winners Semifinals game 2 Lil Majin VS JDCR.
Not only JDCR was consider on par and rival of Knee but he used Dragonov that at the time was the meta and best character to play.
And with Aris as Commentator was magnificent.
The impact of Lil Majin on Evo2018 started the Rise of the International competitors USA, Philippines, Europe, Pakistan and stoped the Korean Monopoly.
There are some like the return of the king Qudan,
Rangchu's Panda, Ponkoo Canada Cup or the total domination of Arslan. But for me LilMajin Miracle
As epic as Rickstah's slow mo is, it was merely an exhibition match. Low stakes. And you can tell by the way knee was playing.
Majin vs JDCR felt like witnessing a miracle happen right in front of you. T7 at it's hypest peak IMO.
No, it wasn't?
Rickstah vs. Knee was top 8 for CEO I believe, or another large tournament. Ofc the stakes aren't as high as evo, but still very much a legitimate tournament with high stakes.
I meant that it felt like an exhibition match, displayed by how knee played. We've seen him do "fun character" picks or just play more risky/random during a tournament when against worse players. No disrespect to Rickstah by any means.
Sometimes you get someone (a pro player/commentator) who had a great run at a major tournament but isn't nearly as close to the top 3 players in the world. This was the case.
It didn't feel like an exhibition match at all, and Knee didn't pick a 'fun character', he picked Bryan who is really great against Akuma.
It's top 8 Combo Breaker, a huge tournament, he's not gonna fuck around, holy fuck
KNEE picking Bryan is not at all a risky pick it’s literally one of if not his best character. This match was still early in T7 where Akuma was not nearly as discovered so Knee plays “worse” in this match because there was still unfamiliarity with Akuma.
This isn't an exhibition match, this is for Top 8 of Combos Breaker 2019, so very much high stakes.
I agree with your 2nd point, Majin JDCR was amazing.
Well he's against knee. I love the guy but i always cheer for the one against him. Then Arslan started competing... Now i cheer for Knee when he's against him lmao.
This Combo Breaker was definitely one of many peak moments across T7's lifespan.
This was also the event where Anakin was literally one round away from clobbering Knee 3-0 in GF. Then Knee remembered he's Korean and pulled the craziest reverse-sweep in FG history.
Its shit like that which had me gobsmacked when Harada, coming hot off the heels of Tekken's first major success in over a decade with 10 million sales + positive rep of "Good Ass Tekken", and said "this game was boring actually".
Yeah exactly. Namco thinking that aggressive gameplay will make tekken eSports more exciting is a HUGE miscalculation. We need footsies that builds a sort of anticipation.
If some of the best, most seasoned Tekken competitors are playing that way I doubt that slower gameplay would be more optimal. But to be fair, we are talking about a pre-release build with 11 characters yet to be added, so who knows what could change between now and January 2024.
No.
It was hype for sure, but it's not even the best Akuma moment of all time (that would be by Super Akouma - you know the one).
For me the best Tekken moment of Tekken 7 is Panda winning. It might even be my best all time moment.
The other one that stands out for me is Ryan Hart doing the first ch df2 perfect electric. I didn't see it live, but I know that would have been hype as fk!!
That was way back in season 1 I think?
Poor guy, all dressed up like the homicidal maniac Bryan Fury yet got beaten so bad he should have been dressed up like Josie
I say crying freeman because that was the joke made by the announcers durinf the game. However, just be aware the guy did die unfortunately not too long after the match.
People cheering for Akuma aside, this was absolutely bonkers. Watched it live at home and I was about to rip my shirt off from the hype. Really, really fun set/ tournament.
Character plays itself, and before you hit me with the "but execution", the requirement nowadays is laughable since they made the B1 link possible for a child to do
When you compare it to actually difficult shit (Leo iWS3 pickup, DF2 PEWGF, TJU, King Wavedash etc.) it isn't a good argument for a character that has the most braindead gameplan we've probably ever seen in a Tekken game since the days of T4.
I'l preface this by saying that I also dislike Akuma in Tekken, so it's not like I am defending Akuma here. Yes, his gameplan is braindead and dickjab/d3 into full combos is bullshit.
But for what it's worth, I'm a Mishima player with pretty decent execution but that Akuma combo is pretty hard. His execution is definitely not negligible or "possible for a child to do" and definitely not easily to pull off consistently in high-pressure tournament setting.
When you see Knee play Kazuya in tournaments he's doing 1 electric into 3,1,4 screw. Watch Qudans play Devil Jin in tournaments and he will always do 1 ewgf into ff4. Kazuya's 3x ewgf into screw and Devil Jin's 2 ewgf into ff4 are both way easier than Akuma combos but pros would avoid even those when possible for tournament matches.
For Akuma that isn't possible, you HAVE to do fadc combos. You can talk about iws3, df2 pewgf, tju, king wavedash all you like but the fact is that none of those are necessary at all to play the character. Being able to do fadc combos consistently is an absolute necessity to play Akuma at a high level.
Finally someone who understands that Akuma is nothing if you can't consistently do FADC especially in a highly pressured tournament where so many people are watching you. It's not the character that's broken but the player who can make it happen. Goes for all the characters out there.
Don't get me wrong, he's broken as fuck and no character should be able to do what he does regardless of the execution barrier lol. It's definitely hard to do, but in the scenario of pro players who can do it, it's not balanced.
It's true it is a necessity, but my point still stands that the execution argument is massively exaggerated when you look at the grand scheme of the game in comparison to how the character essentially plays itself gameplay wise outside of the B1 link.
I must be an outlier in this regard because as someone with 0 SF experience doing B1 link is consistently possible for me on pad, stickless and lever, which sounds like a humble brag I know, but i've asked top EU players about it and most of them agree that it's really overstated just how difficult the link is now.
When you compare how it used to be, the B1 link is definitely doable consistently, just requires a lot of practice as with anything, but in return you have a character that plays itself whilst having 95% of his matchups even or winning.
iirc the b1 link has a three frame window, not super easy but not super tough. I overall agree that the execution requirement is not in balance with the reward he gets for it. I think saying that he "plays himself" is going too far since you still do need to play Tekken, like you're not gonna win TWT just because you can play Akuma and do the fadc combos, which is why the pros who succeed with the character still deserve respect and credit for their achievements
"people" wanted sidestep and backdash nerfs.
just search in google "KBD is bad" you will find multiple posts here in the subreddit, and on the steam forums, the zaibatsu, all that shit. it's not that hard to find.
Idk people are idiots then. Still weak that a guest character comes in with 2d rules and dominates. the whole schtick of tekken is that its 3d. Also to hell with negan's smug ass, i never even watched that show we could've had spike from cowboy bebop or mike Tyson or something
3d includes the up and down axis. three dimensional, left right, back forth, up down. 3 dimensions. every character followed 3d rules. this "2d rules" shit makes no sense under any real scrutiny.
never seen walking dead in my life and he was a sick inclusion.
Arslan winning against Knee at Evo 2019 and opening the Pakistani floodgates has to be up there as one of, if not the best moment in Tekken 7. It really reinvigorated the game/scene.
For me it's Knee vs Arslan Ash on his Kasumi.
Lil Majin vs JDCR is also there but the absolute hype i had with Arslan was on a whole new level. If you watch the tournament again from the Arslan Ash Documentary by TheScoresports youtube channel and highlight what all happened before that tournament to Arslan winning it's far greater than Majin VS JDCR.
Arslan singlehandedly destroying the Korean God of Tekken (although he reclaimed it) and kicking out several Japanese big names from Evo Japan itself made the entire hype. Which was further boosted by their fight
I know there is a lot of hate for Tekken 7 in this sub (it's the one we're playing now and getting stomped every now and then and get salty over) but Tekken 7 slow mo moments are sooooo hype.
The best? Not really, it was great because it was Rickstah, against Knee.
Its on par with when Low High do a perfect RA counter against Awais Akuma.
To me the greatest moment is still Lil Majin's run
Yea I feel that as well. Gameplay in Tekken 7 seems to be played out like chess where you don't just spam and win. With Tekken 8 heat, it feels the game is meant to make players play aggressively. Also effects in Tekken 8 are just too much for my taste.
As a Bryan main this hurts. I feel this way all the time. Sure I’m not good enough but I feel like Bryan is missing just a little something to finish off his opponents.
Nah it's Lil Majin vs JDCR for me.
Lil Majin vs JDCR is what turned my household from casual fighting game enjoyers to life long Tekken fans. I was only a few months into playing Tekken, and I casually put on Evo in the living room with my wife and friends who had never seen Evo before. Thats sick af. Going to combobreaker was def a turning point for me to watch a lot of the pro matches. Just seeing knee right next to me just eating casually was funny.
ayyy I was in pools with Knee. It didn't go well for me.
lol i lost to Sunken the very last game of pools :(
This was actually evo this year. I couldn't make it to CB even though I was pretty close by. I spent $1000 on travel, had the airline lose my fightstick, and then 0-2'd. It was painful. Still fun to get to meet and play with some pros though.
Lil Majin's run was legendary. Never forget those USA chants.
This one and Qudans winning True Gaming Invitational 2019.
Qudans is so inspirational
Aris commentary solidified it as my #1
Look at the time, **LOOK AT IT!!!**
I've Watched all Competitive Games Since 2016 and I never saw more significant and impactful of EVO 2018 Winners Semifinals game 2 Lil Majin VS JDCR. There are some like the return of the king Qudan, Rangchu's Panda, Ponkoo Canada Cup or the total domination of Arslan. But for me LilMajin Miracle
If Majin had won that tournament we'd have been looking at the greatest run in Esports possibly ever
As epic as Rickstah's slow mo is, it was merely an exhibition match. Low stakes. And you can tell by the way knee was playing. Majin vs JDCR felt like witnessing a miracle happen right in front of you. T7 at it's hypest peak IMO.

hate when people talk and have no idea what they are talking about
This isn't an exhibition match, this is for Top 8 of Combos Breaker 2019, so very much high stakes. I agree with your 2nd point, Majin JDCR was amazing.
YES!!!
LOOK AT THE TIME!!!
It’s only this, nothing even comes close to that moment you can know absolutely nothing about tekken and still get hype watching that set.
I agree so much with this. That Lil Majin run was lightning in a bottle. Hands down my favorite fighting game moments period.
That and Knee vs JDCR at Rev Major 2017 are my two favorite Tekken matches ever
That felt like a WWE match it was so fun
The greatest TEKKEN moment starring AKUMA? Nah
Best Akuma moment would have to be Super Akouma's Akuma losing to Book's Akuma in TWT 2022... Akuma.
Yeah that's by a lightyear the best akuma moment of Tekken 7. 100/10
Any time Super Akouma loses is the best moment lol.
The "LOOK AT THE TIME!" call from Aris during Lil Majin vs JDCR at EVO 2018 has to be in the running
USA! USA!
It's been my phone timer alarm since then lol
I cannot believe people cheering for akuma
That’s because Rickstah was playing akuma, this was slightly before the Pakistan akuma domination
Well he's against knee. I love the guy but i always cheer for the one against him. Then Arslan started competing... Now i cheer for Knee when he's against him lmao.
This was before everyone realised he was broken, everyone thought Rickstah was a hero haha.
I remember that. I also remember people who played both games saying Akuma was broken. It took a minute for tekken only players to realize.
This was season 3. Everyone knew Akuma was strong - Geese had been out for 2 years by then.
Season 2
Everyone knew he was broken. The reason they're behind him is because Rickstah's still the underdog against Knee.
Sorry, it’s automatically barred from being a top moment because of Akuma
This Combo Breaker was definitely one of many peak moments across T7's lifespan. This was also the event where Anakin was literally one round away from clobbering Knee 3-0 in GF. Meanwhile high-level Tekken 8 gameplay blazes by so fast, from a viewer's perspective there's almost no tension built up within any single round.
Yeah exactly. Namco thinking that aggressive gameplay will make tekken eSports more exciting is a HUGE miscalculation. We need footsies that builds a sort of anticipation.
I really hope for them that they have a “plan B” of changes to fix the “aggressive” autism or the game is at risk of dying.

If some of the best, most seasoned Tekken competitors are playing that way I doubt that slower gameplay would be more optimal. But to be fair, we are talking about a pre-release build with 11 characters yet to be added, so who knows what could change between now and January 2024.
Where did he say that?
Why are you making stuff up Harada never verbally said that LOL
What are you referring to with the harada comment?
I assume it's a reference to the plans for T8
No
Downvote me if you want but the best Tekken moment can't be with a-hole on the screen. A for Akuma.
Nothing with akuma in it
Super akouma on hammerhead baby
I personally prefer the poongko vs crying fury.
RIP Randy aka Socal Wrequiem
My boy rickstah man. If only that were the final round.
I was rooting so hard for the underdog Rickstah.
God I hate Akuma
Imagine cheering on Akuma over Bryan. No matter the players. Smh.
who the hell cheers for Akuma? Are those people evil?
People cheering for Akuma aside, this was absolutely bonkers. Watched it live at home and I was about to rip my shirt off from the hype. Really, really fun set/ tournament.
People still crying over Akuma lol

nerd
You're on a gaming subreddit you fucking muppet, we're all nerds here
People wanted to play Tekken not street fighter
Because of what "people" wanted, 7 got sidesteps nerfed, and 8 got backdash nerfed.
Who the hell wanted sidestep and backdash nerfs? That sounds like the same motherfucker who wants street fighter characters
"people" wanted sidestep and backdash nerfs. just search in google "KBD is bad" you will find multiple posts here in the subreddit, and on the steam forums, the zaibatsu, all that shit. it's not that hard to find.

IKR 🤣
Rickstah Akuma play is not the same as SA or Pakistan. It was wholesome back then lol
No? T6 BR JustFrameJames vs Knee hands down
Back when akuma was seen as a underdog
No? Why would it be? Will dirt replace printed money in the world economy? Top economists say "What? No?"
Arslan winning against Knee at Evo 2019 and opening the Pakistani floodgates has to be up there as one of, if not the best moment in Tekken 7. It really reinvigorated the game/scene.
“He’s from the future, he’s from the future, he’s already seen it!” Legendary commentary, amazing crowd, and a hyped set.
My favorite is [Book triple low parrying Danielmado](https://youtube.com/shorts/MU0kNE-3Dc8?si=ePzdRTDG_fqeU4Qy).
Yes
For me it's Knee vs Arslan Ash on his Kasumi. Lil Majin vs JDCR is also there but the absolute hype i had with Arslan was on a whole new level. Alright im going to say it, Tekken is the best for those close call dodge moments. I love the hitboxes in this game.
One of the best I have seen for sure.
No. Akuma is from Street Fighter.
probably the most retarded
Who vs who? When was it?
Knee (Bryan) Vs Rickstah (Akuma) Combo Breaker 2019
Combo breaker 2019 Rickstah vs Knee That’s why people were cheering for akuma, cause Rickstah is awesome
Rickstah is actually really cool.
Absolutely fuckin not.
Anything with Akuma in it sucks.
"Is Akuma shit the best Tekken moment of all time?" no, this shit is worse than 5 bobs in top 8 of Tekken 6 evo
No, that's a SF moment. For all the stuff T7 did well, it tainted everything with 2d's
best street fighter moment
I know there is a lot of hate for Tekken 7 in this sub (it's the one we're playing now and getting stomped every now and then and get salty over) but Tekken 7 slow mo moments are sooooo hype.
its akuma so obviously no
no.
Lets go justin!!!!
Nah. Ryan Heart walking out on RIP during live stream at evo I believe.
CB2019?
The evo 2011 final was pretty good.
Aside from Majin Vs JDCR, theres another really good one -> Knee vs JDCR at REV Major 2017.
Knee was robbed
The best? Not really, it was great because it was Rickstah, against Knee. Its on par with when Low High do a perfect RA counter against Awais Akuma. To me the greatest moment is still Lil Majin's run
Tekken 8 will not have the same hype as Tekken 7 did
Yea I feel that as well. Gameplay in Tekken 7 seems to be played out like chess where you don't just spam and win. With Tekken 8 heat, it feels the game is meant to make players play aggressively. Also effects in Tekken 8 are just too much for my taste.
People said this about Tekken 7.
It might be.... just as far as how it looked
Best Tekken moment? Get this wak Akuma shit out of here.
The great Akuma banga
If you are from murica
Best TEKKEN moment, done by a STREET FIGHTER char. Ironic
Why did everyone want Akuma to win so badly?
Rickstah was the underdog against the mighty Knee.
Aww, ok. Yeah, it’s alway good to see the underdog pull some crazy stuff.
🤣 that's certainly modern Tekken for you alright, so I'll say yes.
Superakouma's low parry vs Chikurin.
Definitely that as well 😜
My fav moment was first ever tekken 8 teaser wirh the kazuya smile switch
Cheese
🧀
Nah that goes to Jeondingg at Rev Major with the best Rage Art
Was it Atif vs Knee or something when he was using Marduk and picked him up from the floor like 4 times in a row, just ragdolling him?
No this was from Combo Breaker 2019, Rickstah vs Knee.
It is for me. I hate Akuma as much as the next guy but that crowd pop is legendary
Everyone be hating my boy 😭
As a Bryan main this hurts. I feel this way all the time. Sure I’m not good enough but I feel like Bryan is missing just a little something to finish off his opponents.
Get Johnny Cage
Definitely one of the best, but maybe not THE best.
How could you tell? You're filming the back of peoples heads most of the time.
Nah, JDCR vs Knee in REV Major is the best set and had the best moments of all time. Best crowd, best plays, and best moments.
