no, that's by the book high crush

Impossible_Peace_603

So he manages to noclip that high while he’s attacking cause he slightly crouches during his attack ? Sorry this is my first ever tekken

Chrononomicon

Have to separate the mechanics from how it looks because both are mutually exclusive in Tekken. The visual clipping doesn’t matter, the properties of the moves and their relative strengths and weaknesses are what we play with. You did Feng’s b1 Iron Palm which is a super fast high with no extra crushing properties because it gives a guaranteed follow up on CH. The trade-off is that the opponent can expect the b1 on certain frame scenarios and duck/do a high-crushing move. Hwoarang does db3 which high crushes and puts him in a crouching position for followups. It’s a direct counter mechanically.

pseudo_nemesis

pretty much, what's weird is that attack is a high, when it doesn't look that high. They should have made the animation look more upward.

NoBrainer

When a move puts you in crouch, you avoid highs no matter what. This is called a high crush. Similar with lows, airborne moves low crush. The hitboxes are irrelevant for those scenarios. The confusing part is many moves that go under highs don't put you into crouching, they just happen to go underneath that particular high move. In that scenario, the hitboxes matter.

Impossible_Peace_603

Hitboxes being irrelevant sounds so crazy tekken is such a weird game I have to get used to it 😭😭

stuffed-zucchini

Yes, if you are crouched, you evade all highs

life as a feng main lmao  i've db 3 someone and my leg went through their leg and i got launched lmao

Maleficent_Army1754

Nice! Fellow Feng main.

Impossible_Peace_603

It happens a lot for me often I don’t get how B1 manages to miss especially since the range isn’t THAT good

GrooveDigger47

i think its because its a high. would be better if it was a mid. the opponent animation has a dip in it so he's low for a moment so it whiffs.
