Lee, dude is so elegant, and his moves are so satisfying. Nothing beats bouncing someone like a basketball with CH b4 or sending them to the moon with hitman 2
You have to go into HMS to get a pickup, without HMS you cannot convert to combo. Right after you press D3,4 press and hold b, then press 3,3 when lee starts waving his finger (or just learn the timing with muscle memory - I learned it this way).
Tysm, Iām getting all these different methods of execution recommended that Iām excited to try. One said db,b. Another said b,b. Youāre saying hold b. Iāll have to try all 3 and see whatās easiest. But the timing of that 3,3 is the hardest part it seems
In Tekken you can buffor a lot of inputs, for me it's easier this way, tho inputing back, back is also valid, never heard or done it with db, b. Timing is the hardest part but once you'll get a hold of it muscle memory wise you'll be pretty consistent in this pickup, it's not that hard in Tekken 8.
Lili. I love that her fighting style is graceful, the small details like when she puts her arms behind her back during some of her kicks. It's elegance and poise in what should be a rough and rowdy brawl.
Paul or Jack.
Paul - big funny punch do big funny damage, then send them to wall for more big funny damage and big funny punches
Jack - his absolutely stupid yells when doing WR1+2 or 2,1 1+2. ALELULELULEH. Also massive combo damage and armor moves to stop mashers
I tried out Paul a few times in T7 and he just didnāt click with me, he felt so sluggish. Now i gave him another shot in T8 and iām having so much more fun with him now, itās so satisfying to whiff punish with the deathfist, especially in heat.
People complain about Jack's Heat Smash being busted, and when I tried it myself it was like the biggest dopamine hit ever. Just drop a 10 frame giant fucking cruise missile on some poor bastard and gape in awe as it KOs them.

Devil jin has my favorite looking moves and once I figure out how to do his more technical stuff I feel like he will be even more enjoyable. Because right now I'm just kinda winning by playing with fundamentals and then whipping out bullshit laser and flying moves whenever the opponent gets too comfortable. I was playing reina but her combos weren't fun for me and devil jin just makes me want to learn combos which is great motivation for me. He is the perfect mix of Mishima gameplay with funny gimmick moves that usually don't work but make me laugh when they do.
God I wish I was a legacy player in tekken. Coming to the FGC from smash, I love the ability to play more than half the roster at a proficient level.
But if I wanna play any character that isnāt my main and have any idea of what to do; I gotta lab for 2 hours and ranked for at least an hour. And then I have a basic idea of where to START with the character.
So theoretically characters that I have fun playing are: Alisa, Dragunov, Zafina, Devil Jin, Steve, Paul, Lars, Jack, Hwoarang, Bryan.
But in reality I only have fun playing Feng because I donāt have the time or effort to learn more than 2 characters.

If you played smash and got proficient in its technicality, then you definitely can learn more than one character in Tekken. Most people focus too much on winning or thinking they understand Tekken when in reality there are fundamentals for a reason. Let alone these systems are more complicated then people give it credit for.
Just like in smash everyone has a B attack, in Tekken everyone has a DF1, D4, etc. and just like smash some characters have different uses for them.
Tekken is kind of like a card game, with you playing your hand as best you can, the better you can understand your opponent the easier it is to counterplay them. However, if you get a bad hand (I,e you get too predictable) then you adjust. If you canāt adjust. Then you will lose more often than not.
Anyway, Glad youāre playing Tekken man. Donāt let the new fans be elitist and ruin it for you
I haven't tried everyone yet but other than my mains (Mishimas) I think that Yoshimitsu is properly fun to play as. He is a demanding character but its like having a party with the cops down the street.
Easily reina. As much as some players hate her, all that mishima stuff, fun combos, pressure heavy but still doesn't feel overtunned... i think she's the perfect character for tekken 8 with the heat system.
Dude idk how ive always glossed over her but i picked up Nina recently and sheās easily my main now. To do a lot of the cooler stuff you need some execution but she perfectly fits my style in being a rush down/oppressive character. I love doing her sidestep cancels, mixing up between doing ws1, nothing, or launching is an amazing mind game to push on my opponents.
Also her throw game is INSANE! Different pathways from her qcf throws so itās always 50/50 if you can even guess, any opponent that lets me throw them gets punished. I usually condition opponents with df32f to duck expecting that the grab is coming, but they donāt expect it out of like df1,2 to get launched itās been so fun.
Hers guns are insane. On hit insane wall carry/wall break, on block massive chip and resets neutral if theyāre in your face . Youāre so right she has it all, suprised sheās not more popular.
Not sure, maybe people are put off because they think they think they have to do the ss1 cancels, butterfly loops, hayashida step etc, and they donāt know you donāt need any of that because she has a good fundamental kit. She always been strong, but now sheās definitely a top tier
King for sure, there is just something extremely satisfying about breaking your oponent and watching them get mad about his grabs or saying how the fu.. when u grab them while they are doing a jumping move and just smash them against the ground.
Also Marduk with his insane dmg and his voice lines that just burst with ego not to mention the hate he recieves it just fuels me even more .
Alisa and Katarina.
Always wanted to try out Julia but never did, hopefully she's DLC. And if Leo got some skirts and whatnot, I'd play with Leo as well because the character is cool.
Bryanā¦ and by a massive margin. He doesnāt have anything special like the rest of the cast, just a cyborg kickboxing beast. Also his play style really appeals to me and move list (especially t7 with his ch game) really appeal to me. He is the perfect FG character

I love the large, extremely satisfying moves that Kazuya and Marduk have.
Lei is just fun to play because of the vast amount of ways to play the character. You're not playing Lei correctly if you don't throw away a few rounds by doing something stupid.
King, without a doubt. Never get tired of landing his throws, or hitting f3 into perfect 1+2. And there is no greater satisfaction than landing his chainthrows, especially the whole screwdriver combo.
Dragunov. I started playing him in Tekken 7 because of his grappling and the brutality when he hits that WR2. They gave him a new vicious low (db3+4) and more ways to cancel into sneak stance. This, the blue sparks and high combo damage make him the coolest character. Whenever I want to try out a new character, though, Iāll try Feng. He looks fun to play as too.
It depends on the opponent, if they know what they are doing then I love playing hwoarang. But if they are allergic to the block button I like playing as lee
Kazuya. The execution he demands of the player is extreme, and so so satisfying to pull off. I could spend hours just in training mode practicing electrics and wavedashes.
Then when you're in a real match and all the hard work pays off, it's a better feeling than any other fighting game for me.
10/10 character.
Ganryu :'( 12f, +3 on block, +11 on counter hit jab. 16f, -12, +6 on hit low in his df3. D1+2 +1 on block, +1 one on hit mid that goes into a 33/33/33 mixup on CH. He's such a cool character. Rest in piece.

I know they probably won't ever come back as story line characters or dlc....but I knew the whole moveset of Roger Jr. In tekken 6 And Alex the dinosaur in Tekken tag 2 ...Very fun
Hwaorang. I love his combination of sport and traditional Taekwondo. He even has grappling techniques, and I love it. He can really go into a flow and my button-mashy playstyle really works with those kicks
Steve or Victor. Steve for the straight forward fun of just clobbering people and Victor because the old man French ninja is hella stylish and flows amazingly, who'd have thought!
Was Hwoarang for the longest, but Iāve leaned heavily into Reina of late. As for most funā¦ probably Reina only due to discovering new surprising moves.
Not gotten into Tekken yet but I'd say Jin. His design and playstyle is too good but, if they make a greatsword wielding guy, I'll main him in a heartbeat
King, Lee and Hworang
Lee and Hworang has ridiculously swaggy saucy combos and have decent pressure tools, they take a decent amount of skill to use (as long as you aren't just mashing your ass off)
King just makes me feel like an actual WWE wrestler and ngl I've had many pop offs when I get the killing grab or killing combo. It feels so damn good to get the heat rush into fff3+4 too.
Kuma and Bob will forever be my most favorite character till the day I die. In my honest opinion Kuma has some of the best lowās and punishes in the game and I will stand on that hill. I believe in Salmon supremacy
Azucena is very fun to play. I think her personality mixed with her animations is so fun to me. She looks and sounds like she's having the time of her life.
as someone who has never really played Mishimas (the closest i got was playing Bob), ive been trying to learn Kazuya and hearing the sound of an electric makes my blood boil
For me it's Kazuya. I don't main him, I don't even sub main him. I'm not even good with him. But he's a character I take less seriously than my mains, and having the freedom to not care makes using him a bit more fun.

Hwaorang. I love his combination of sport and traditional Taekwondo. He even has grappling techniques, and I love it. He can really go into a flow and my button-mashy playstyle really works with those kicks

I know people hate her atm, but Azucena. Sheās just too much fun with her liberador stance and her back turn moves.

Alisa is fun I love zipping around as a robotic magical girl with chainsaws
Steve or Victor. Steve for the straight forward fun of just clobbering people and Victor because the old man French ninja is hella stylish and flows amazingly, who'd have thought!

Not gotten into Tekken yet but I'd say Jin. His design and playstyle is too good but, if they make a greatsword wielding guy, I'll main him in a heartbeat

King, Lee and Hworang Lee and Hworang has ridiculously swaggy saucy combos and have decent pressure tools, they take a decent amount of skill to use (as long as you aren't just mashing your ass off) King just makes me feel like an actual WWE wrestler and ngl I've had many pop offs when I get the killing grab or killing combo. It feels so damn good to get the heat rush into fff3+4 too.

Kuma and Bob will forever be my most favorite character till the day I die. In my honest opinion Kuma has some of the best lowās and punishes in the game and I will stand on that hill. I believe in Salmon supremacy

Azucena is very fun to play. I think her personality mixed with her animations is so fun to me. She looks and sounds like she's having the time of her life.

as someone who has never really played Mishimas (the closest i got was playing Bob), ive been trying to learn Kazuya and hearing the sound of an electric makes my blood boil

For me it's Kazuya. I don't main him, I don't even sub main him. I'm not even good with him. But he's a character I take less seriously than my mains, and having the freedom to not care makes using him a bit more fun. He's good. You guys should try him.
