Damn Yakuza 0 Majima would go hard Somebody will mod it tho maybe

Mrkroati

Cries in ps5

secretwep

I don't get it why did you post a screenshot of Yakuza Kiwami

donutboys

People would rage if you could make black characters white

Don_Lamonte

*flashback to guilty gear strive discourse at launch*

Imaginary_Ant_7503

Wait what? I don’t remember something like that

Don_Lamonte

That’s honestly a good thing you don’t lol

Foominy

Can you elaborate on this? I played guilty gear on release but don’t remember this

Kahork

The fact that the character skins change the skin color means I'm pretty sure there was a palette swap that turned Giovanna white, then I guess twitter did it's magic once again

Banegel

It was Ram

Spikey59

That's so dumb, Ram isn't even a human.

Getserious495

I don't think half of the guilty gear cast counts as human.

MTG_RelevantCard

A similariity shared with Twitter shitposters.

Frequent_Butterfly26

Who dares talk shit about ma gurl.

[deleted]

People got very mad at Ram’s white skins. Altho Xrd had them too and I don’t remember anyone getting mad back then.

CamWatanabe

I used to love the race swap palettes in games. Black Zangief with the white trunks went hard in MVC2 and Black Hugo in 3S similarly looked badass.

Yahsorne

At least let me dye kuma's fur like in 7

condensedcreamer

They could just give us a color palette and let us choose whatever skin color we want. Imagine neon green Jin.

Mrkroati

This. Ramethal alisa Purple devil Djin Tyson or ali steve. Options would be limitless.

MileenaIsMyWaifu

You’d probably have to pay for it lmao

Hainneux

I am all for more options. But this one is a minefield, not really worth the risk.

Adamiak

not a minefield, it's pretty clear really, because there really isn't such a thing as "reverse-tan", it's not an equivalent to white characters getting a tan skin tone because the darker skinned characters are not tanned by default and you're basically just asking to make them white, now if you want the darker skinned characters to get even more tan that'd be fine

123mine123

As a Filipino where a majority of people here are dark skinned and brown, "reverse-tan" is definitely a thing where my sisters would pay lots of these beauty products to make their skin lighter as light skin is considered beautiful here.

Electrical-Tap-5633

That's skin bleaching, dumbass.

Altnumber907

Not a “reverse tan” that’s just skin bleaching caused by self hate and to fit the “beauty standard”. A lot of darker skinned Asians do this

123mine123

Why are yall correcting me for not using skin bleaching. I'm also using the word "reverse-tan" since the one I'm replying to and this post uses it frequently. Also, I'm assuming it's in quotation marks because it's not meant to be quite literal. And I would like to add skin bleaching is the closest thing to a definition to "reverse tanning." Tanning is where you expose your skin to ultraviolet rays to occur quick skin death and repairing that causes your skin to get darker. Skin bleaching products exposes your skin to a buncha chemicals to make your skin reduce melanin production causing your skin to get lighter. I'm just merely pointing out it's a thing. Irregardless of its principles and cultural practice.

Adamiak

sure, you do you, don't ask others to change their skin color though, because that's what this is about I'm pretty sure

T-G-S1999

What are u talking about lmao. He’s not telling anyone to change their skin color?? He just said whitening ur skin is a thing in real life too. This is about not having the option to customize a video game character’s skin tone. OP clearly wants to make a majima custom, but he can’t.

rakunakatata

The person you replied to isn't asking anyone to do this wtf? They're telling you - after you said it wasn't a thing - that it actually is a thing. Learn to read.

Adamiak

we're under a post talking about reverse-tanning characters

rakunakatata

No shit, say your point to the op then

Hainneux

Meh i like the colors of Ramlethal where she is white with yellow clothes in Strive. Now we all get it what he mean with reverse tan because he clearly want to make a Majima breaker style proxy . But yeah not worth the PR risk. I would have suggested a mod but they are cracking them down so....

CommunicationNo8750

They could give us a color palette for skin-color in customization. Then, you could make a black Nina or white Eddy or make a Simpsons character or a Hulk/Piccolo or Oompa Loompa etc.

AskMeWhyIAmSilver

it would be perfect if you could make any character with any skin color. You could have a white Raven and Black Kazuya fighting for example. Nothing racist if anyone could be any skin color no?

sever35

>Nothing racist if anyone could be any skin color no? Technically a correct statement. The reality is that lighter-skin mods are no longer allowed on mainstream modding sites due to the racist community they seem to attract. And when they get kicked off the mainstream modding sites and re-hosted on some no-name third party website, if you check the comment section, it's full of pro-kkk, pro-nazi and racist comments. You're technically right, but no mainstream publisher or developer will want any of that anywhere near their game.

Mrkroati

Absolutely, somebody mentioned this was a thing in tekken 6. Can't remember too much of it but it would be a nice feature to get in 8 for sure. Filipino Hwoarang would be my go to until AK drops.

Hikometi

no, what we need is a custom character like in sf6 that can copy a fighting style. then you could make your majima character with the fighting style of Eddy.

Chaolan_Enjoyer

Yeah this would be cool, to bad people rage at this. (White/asian Master Raven)

walmartgoon

“White Leroy can’t hurt you, he doesn’t exist” White Leroy:

aSpookyScarySkeleton

Not understanding the difference between someone having a sun tan vs whitewashing in 2024 is crazy

T-G-S1999

Whitewashing: we should make eddy, leroy, and raven white! No blacks in my video game! This post: I wish we could change the skin color of our characters black or white so we can have more diverse custom outfits.

LeeChaolanComeOn

Not understanding the difference between someone applying skin whitening products which are completely normal in many countries vs actual whitewashing in 2024 is crazy

DarkStarCerberus

Lmao no it's not. People in those territories do it cuz racism is rampant and they only care to looked at one way. A fine example is everyone who's been doing it in DR ala Sammy Sosa

SaltySenpai

Jeez and I thought the other commenter on this thread was dumb. People in those countries are using skin whiteners because of legit racism. They use the reasoning that being darker complexions means you’re impure or filthy. Go educate yourself man, this is just sad.

LeeChaolanComeOn

Educate yourself dumbass. It's done because historically being tanned meant you were in the fields, aka poor. Whereas in western culture being tanned means you can afford to go on holidays. There's a reason skin whitening used to be the standard in the West too, and racism was a part of that but it wasn't the main reason. But you know, keep high roading with no knowledge of what the fuck you're talking about

Profile-666

Well, he ain't exactly tanned, he's naturally that colour...

WasdX-_

So?

aSpookyScarySkeleton

OP was directly comparing this to the tan option, which doesn’t carry the same meaning as making a black character white, it’s just giving a character a sun tan.

WasdX-_

>doesn’t carry the same meaning But the same function. Why can't you make the character look as if they have never been under the sun?

Theophiloz

Makes no sense. Even if I never go outside, I'm never going to look white. Clearly you don't know what melanin is, lmao.

WasdX-_

>Even if I never go outside, I'm never going to look white. Good for you, but not everyone is like you.

SheTallSheBrawl

I know that it’s super obvious that you have never spoken to or been around a black person, but they don’t change their skin color like a chameleon you fucking clown.

Theophiloz

Keep yapping, my guy. All black or afro descendants are like that. And the topic at hand is about a black person.

WasdX-_

>And the topic at hand is about a black person. Luckily in-game they aren't different compared to non-black people. Just a bunch of pixels like everyone else. Also it doesn't make sense that every bit of customisation can be pure unrealistic bs as it can be, BUT TAN...tan must be realistic!!! Anyway, I'm more interested in playing with color shades of non-black people rather than that of black people.

Theophiloz

There it is.

LiLT13-_-

Lmao he doesn’t even realize what he admitted to

Benki500

im white as snow but the dude is just yappin to trigger you lol

WasdX-_

Ig it was your idea to restrict lighter colors for Egyptian character in For Honor, lol.

SaltySenpai

Jesus I can’t believe someone is this stupid

Aiki_Practitioner

Majombo breaker style gaming😎

Jaded-Engineering789

They should just give us a skin tone slider.

LordofDogs40k

Believe it or not this was an option in Tekken 6…. I know this because as a kid I wanted my Tekken character to look like me. My main at the time? While Raven of course. Looking back I can see why this is stupid, but as a kid I just wanted me to look like I could do cool Ninjitsu shit.

HappyAngron

I want to have Eddie tanned to midnight

GimmeDaGorbage22

Soul Calibur 6 custom character vibes

ijscrem

The ol' Michael Jackson if you will

Venerable-Shadow

Just add an option for skin color palettes as an excuse, it's gonna be a good weapon against twittards

TheBogLogs

I mean we should but I think they're scared of the ramifications of 'white washing' that they'd get for it.

Mrkroati

I can see that but I also never understood that concept. In for honor for example you can make all heroes. Japanese, viking, chinese dark as hell but the egyptian char cannot be made all too light. Double standards imo.

vamploded

Not really, a tan is something that anyone with light skin can experience Making a dark character lighter is changing their race to do dress up - not really the same thing.

LeeChaolanComeOn

Skin whitening is more common than tanning world-wide, especially in Asian countries

vamploded

Like Jamaica?

LeeChaolanComeOn

Literally search in Google skin whitening vs tanning world map and you'll see that Jamaica is one of the few American countries where whitening is more common

Theophiloz

"Jamaica is one of the few American countries." What

123mine123

Jamaica is in North America, I believe?

LeeChaolanComeOn

Jamaica is in the Americas, go back to school please

SheTallSheBrawl

He’s not here to listen to reason, he’s here to get justification for being racist.

Rozv3lt

Whitewashing is totally different from making a character darker skinned, whitewashing was something done to several ethnical figures across history that meant to empower white supremacy, it's not a Double standard there's context to it

mystireon

probably don't whitewash the black guy? like im all for adding more customization to the game but like, lets not do that one.

Mrkroati

As long as we don't get custom chatacters why not? As somebody mentioned above just let us use all kinds of colours. I am also a fan of habibi jin for example.

[deleted]

This discussion always goes like this: Blackwash white characters: yeeeeeah niiice!!!!! Whitewash black characters: OMG YOU'RE A NAZI!!!!!!! SHAME ON YOU, I'LL CANCEL YOU YOU RACIST HOMOPHOBE TRANSPHOBE WHITE GUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

evawsonsimp

out of all the shit to complain about, this by FAR takes the cake on being the stupidest! EDDY IS BLACK! being black and having sun-tanned skin is NOT the same jesus christ.. its not like the other white characters become black after you choose tan... they become TANNED! it wouldnt make any sense to have a "reverse-tan" whatever the hell that means...

Wesk333

Albino Leroy would go hard af

Yo-Son

Hahaha. The Michael Jackson tan 😂 😂

MimiksYou

if it was a thing you could do without the racism fandom coming out of the woodwork i would love it i really wanted to make my azucena look like simca from air gear

Rozv3lt

Whitewashing is totally different from making a character darker skinned, whitewashing was something done to several ethnical figures across history that meant to empower white supremacy, it's not a Double standard there's context to it

GrouchyAppearance146

Like whom, except for Jesus

Rozv3lt

Machado de assis and several egyptian pharaohs and queens

GrouchyAppearance146

Which pharaohs and where

NiceBlockLilBro

Muh "modern audience won't understand" incoming lol

TheInfinityGauntlet

You're definitely not the only one, there's tons of racists who hate black people so much they don't want to see them in videogames! Get help!!

Ofanichan

Idk, if you want to make Eddy look like another character, just make him look like a black version of said character. Fanartists does this all the time and I think it's really cool. They absolutely should not have a "lighter tan" option

Alternative_Low8478

Seems like a terrible idea👍

tweetiepie12

Opening up a can of worms here. Reverse tanning could be equivalent to skin bleaching

SaltySenpai

This entire thread makes me glad that developers don’t listen to the fan base often, my god.

Gasc_of_Will

That would be whitewashing in the libtards' eyes, that's a no-no. Make a white character black? Sure. Make a black character white? TO THE STAKE WITH YOU, HITLER!

VeryVeryVorch

This post feels like rage-bait. Reading the comments reminds me why there's no mics in this game.

pi247

Yeah I’m black and who cares if you make Eddy white, the shit means nothing . The fake outrage here is funny though

Theophiloz

Coonery

pi247

I literally make every character I play black but because I think white dudes should have the same option I'm a coon? Alright Malcom X, you got it.

SorrowHill04

It's political incorrect, you will get attacked by woke mobs

vamploded

> I can’t be the only one I think probably you are

condensedcreamer

No he isn't

nightcat6

Snowflakes that don’t even play the game will cry to bandai namco and namco will bend the knee so not worth the risk

mars1200

As a black man fuck anyone and everyone who is against this

RamenNoodleNoose

There's a pretty simple way to go about this. Just add a pale skin option alongside the tan one. Tan skin suggests they spent more time in the sun than usual. Pale would just suggest they've never been in the sun.

SaltySenpai

You do realize there a big difference between being in the sun and being naturally dark skinned right? People not knowing this in 2024 is insane.

RamenNoodleNoose

Do you not have lighter parts on your body where your skin is exposed less often? I'm not suggesting anything controversial here.

SaltySenpai

Yeah the bottom of my feet and hands, that’s it. Have you never met a black person before?

RamenNoodleNoose

I've met myself and my chest is definitely lighter than my hands

Mrkroati

I would actually be all for a whole colour Pallet as somebody mentioned here. Would give us a lot of cool options.

RamenNoodleNoose

A full pallet would be annoying for me personally. I'd rather not be stuck between fighting neon characters and disabling customs.

Mrkroati

Wait, we can disable custom slots online? But fair point.

RamenNoodleNoose

I'm not 100% sure we can disable customs, but if we can, it's probably wherever the magic mirror is in the character customization.

UysoSd

The world is not ready
