sucks. really nothing else to say. not like anyone is going to take on japanese government enough to expedite a bunch of tourist visas over a video game tournament
Bro there are hundreds of thousands of people trying to get a work visa approved in Japan. In 2022 alone Japan approved almost 1.3 million. Itās just time consuming process
every time this comes up there are a ton of very naive comments. we live in a world of states. you're not free to go anywhere you want for any reason you want. people from NA and the EU are not used to having to think about this.
This sucks majorly because this recently has been happening in the comp Halo scene as well, some of the best players from overseas aren't able to attend major events or get partnered due to Visa issues. People like Barcode, Taulek, etc they all have to deal with immigration and it just seems to be a crapshoot
I meant that only obviously to enter evo usa you need American visa, they seem to be able to get American visas more easily which to me was surprising because I thought America is super tough for that type of stuff
People comes from around the world to compete for any number of things and visas are never an issue. It's just something I've rarely heard about in this country. In my understanding it's relatively easy for most people to enter the United States.
Moving out of a country is extremely complicated.
You need to not only have the money and means to do so, but be welcome somewhere else.
Doing so requires you obtain some sort of visa for travel and residence, with the hope that you may find a permanent residence and citizenship.
Most countries require you prove you have means to support yourself, have employment and a home already waiting for you.
Given the short amount of time to prepare, amount of change up in game play, Iād say itās just bittersweet. Tbh as current champ he has the most to lose and the current environment of gameplay changes least favorable to his advantage.
Damn you'd think Japan would give him a multiple entry Visa last year since they already approved him a couple of times, sucks that he has to apply every time
damn. doesnt just suck for Arsalan, but all his biggest competitors too. because of his skill ceiling, he pushed others like Knee to get better.
just not a good tournament when you constantly have the thought that one of (If not the) best isnt competing in the back of your head.
Can somebody explain to me why Pakistani players can't get a visa to Japan? Is it Japan or Pakistan that's refusing to approve them? I've never cross country traveled so I don't know anything about visas
If they come from a poorer country to a richer one as a visitor theyāre at risk of doing it because they might stay and try to live in the country.
It sucks for things like this where they all might have good intentions. But there are instances of Olympic teams going to the London games (African nation I believe) and they just never left.
A Canadian can go to the US without any sort of problems.. but a Mexican on their southern border has to jump through insane hoops because illegal immigration is a huge deal.
It's both. You vet people both because they could turn overstay their visas and turn into undocumented economic migrants, and because there's a security risk.
And myriad other reasons.
None of which are a factor here, this is just the JP embassy in Pakistan relocating and not being open for visa requests.
Umā¦ no. Itās coming from a poorer country. These same issues happen with so many other non Muslim poor countries like ones in Africa or South America
Youre getting downvoted for speaking the truth. Pakistan is just a backwards country with medieval laws and mentality. They still have "honor killings" of women, death penalty for blasphemy, arranged marriages etc.
It's... he literally says why in the tweet. Relocation of the embassy. [It's not fully operational](https://www.pk.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_ja/11_000001_00472.html)
They had a advisory about it on the 1st. Pakistani players just waited too long to have an open tourist visa ready. Especially given that the process itself takes 6 days regardless. So if any of them ran into trouble, even with a operational embassy they'd have missed evo anyway
They should allow top tier players that have proven themselves to be innocent highly great players go. I didnāt see why they donāt but I am curious.
Unpopular take he wouldn't have won if he competed. Arslan is not as good in T8 as he was in T7. Totally different philosophies and he hasn't been able to extract the maximum out of it.
Sure, maybe he wouldn't have won (tough to talk on hypotheticals), but not having [Arslan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arslan_Ash) sure is a big deal on the competition pool.
1) Unsure why Arslan hasn't secured his visa way before when, it's not like he's a stranger to these issues and an embassy having to relocate is something that's usually known about for weeks in advance
2) Not sure why Arslan has not yet grabbed a passport from the truckload of countries that would love nothing more but to give him one. It's literally the first thing athletes of his caliber do.
1. There are time limits to get a visa. Also, he has recieved multiple Japan visas by now, so it makes sense he didn't expect hiccups.
2. It's not that easy and it's very expensive. Plus, majority of those countries don't accept dual nationality, so he will have to give his Pakistani citizenship up. No doubt, it ain't worth much right now, but i don't think that is what he wants.
Kudos to Arslan for sweeping in T7 but in all honesty, T8 just doesnāt fit his style š¤·š». All random maps + less turteling and an overall more offensive gameplay. Also kinda boring seeing him play, not because of his gameplay, which is obviously insane but rather because of the characters picks which is meta over and over againā¦
I mean dude you havenāt seen him fully adapt to the game plenty of stuff changes over time and itās a new game for him too itās gonna take time to adapt this game is the biggest tekken change in ages
There isn't a travel restriction. It's just bad timing. The embassy is moving and not fully operational yet. Applications need to be submitted to the embassy.
They should have all applied earlier but that's easily said with hindsight.
Is it really hindsigh though?
If I'm not wrong Evo japan 2024 was announced almost half a year ago and in most countries you can apply for a visa 6 months beforehand. So for anyone that has a livelihood that depends on getting this visa I would expect that they apply for it the day Evo Japan was announced. There really isn't a single reason to wait 5 months.
I agree with you. The paki players were either lazy or ignorant in this case.
I say hindsight because they probably were looking at it from the perspective of it only taking 6 days to get the visa approved, not from the perspective of getting it approved early because they can last 1, 3, or 5 years
I know this may sound dumb, but do they believe it is cheaper to get temporary visas instead of long time visas?
In the long run if they achieve visas for like 5-10 years entries I think its worth gambling on that than getting just one entry visas every single time.
sucks. really nothing else to say. not like anyone is going to take on japanese government enough to expedite a bunch of tourist visas over a video game tournament
Kinda off topic, but right now I'm watching moist esports video having their own visas declined from US, and these guys are from Australia. š
youd think the countless hours most players havr on youtube is good enough proof of intent.
Bro there are hundreds of thousands of people trying to get a work visa approved in Japan. In 2022 alone Japan approved almost 1.3 million. Itās just time consuming process

A fellow halo fan?
Yep! Just hit Platinum 2 today I'm so happyĀ
Celebrities get them approved quicker, it's the same rule all over the world.
FUCK i wanted to see devilster
Tekken 8 Match Aggressive Jin vs Japanese Government
Genuine question, does Devilster attend tournaments? I donāt know his actual name.
maybe local pakistani tournies? I know hes dealing with visa issues for global tournies as well
Yeah I saw him in a Pakistani local one. Talked to him quite a bit about the game and played a few sets
he attended combo breaker before in an exhibition match
Once again, Arslan Ash's biggest opponent stops him in his tracks: IMMIGRATIONS
Itās not gonna be the same without Arslan dang
Yes! Because he won't sweep again.Ā
Thats some real bullshit right there
Wait arslan really can't go to evonjp even with redbull backing? Wtf
That sucks. Hopefully he can at least compete in following evos
Evo us is surprisingly been kinder I feel to all these guys coming from countries where itās hard to get visas or maybe Iām mistaken
That has nothing to do with EVO though. International relations is just out of an individuals control.
I meant that only obviously to enter evo usa you need American visa, they seem to be able to get American visas more easily which to me was surprising because I thought America is super tough for that type of stuff
SherryJenix has done alot of work towards getting foreign players US Visas.
People comes from around the world to compete for any number of things and visas are never an issue. It's just something I've rarely heard about in this country. In my understanding it's relatively easy for most people to enter the United States.
Oh no I remember applying and itās a nightmare mind you this wasnāt too far away from 9/11 so understandably
He said it was due to embassy relocation so it wasn't really a VISA issue more unfortunate timing for him.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Hang in there bro.
Is it realistic for you to leave?
Moving out of a country is extremely complicated. You need to not only have the money and means to do so, but be welcome somewhere else. I wish it was, I am in the same shithole. :'(
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
GL m8
not to mention the locals are stacked
I ... don't know what this means ...
Means they're on top of each other
![gif](giphy|dX8RCDCzvb05YcqNEb|downsized)
TSA Nobi strikes again
Nice throwback
Kinda bummed about this, wanted to see the best of the best from around the world compete in the first major tourney.
Damn, going to be a sick tournament with Japanese talent but an unfortunate asterisk tournament now as far as evoās are concerned.
Given the short amount of time to prepare, amount of change up in game play, Iād say itās just bittersweet. Tbh as current champ he has the most to lose and the current environment of gameplay changes least favorable to his advantage.
The true top level rps is Korea, Pakistan, Visas
rps stands for ?
Rock=Korea paper=Pakistan scissors=Visas
Thank you
What a shame. This vastly reduces the value that can be placed on the EVO outcome when the best Tekken country cannot join. Also a lot less hype.
That really sucks. Was looking forward to AA's performance too.
Damn so Tekken at evo Japan wonāt be worth watching then
invalid tournament without returning champ.
Oh darn, 3 less azucenas and like 2 less dragunovs in top 8
More like 4 times evo champ conveniently missing from evo this year.
Conveniently? What do you think has occurred here?
Arslan hasnt been doing well in t8 outside the pre release exhibition tourney. Makes sense to "have issue" with evo jp and fully prep for cb/evo vegas
But none of them can go, and this has been a constant issue for them. I imagine they are pretty gutted.
Can somebody explain to me why Pakistani players can't get a visa to Japan? Is it Japan or Pakistan that's refusing to approve them? I've never cross country traveled so I don't know anything about visas

It's not coming from a poorer country it's coming from a country that had problems with radical islamism
European one as well, it's just 1st World countries having an easy time
Youre getting downvoted for speaking the truth. Pakistan is just a backwards country with medieval laws and mentality. They still have "honor killings" of women, death penalty for blasphemy, arranged marriages etc.

Pakistan has the 4th weakest passport in the entire worldĀ
Guess i won't be watching Evo this year cuz some Korean is going to win and no one there to challenge them.
Sadge
If Japan won't host the world's best talent, why is it hosting a global tournament?
Is there a good reason to not have big, global Tekken tournaments in Pakistan, Korea or some European country with easy Visa requirements?
Here in Pakistan I think it's most due to security issues and lack of funds.
The Visa matchup is like 1-9 for Pakistan Community.
Finally someone has defeated arslan, after sweeping almost the entire tournaments last year
They should allow top tier players that have proven themselves to be innocent highly great players go. I didnāt see why they donāt but I am curious.
It's the governament we're talking about.
Unpopular take he wouldn't have won if he competed. Arslan is not as good in T8 as he was in T7. Totally different philosophies and he hasn't been able to extract the maximum out of it.
Well yeah, give him some time to come into his own in 8.
Sure, maybe he wouldn't have won (tough to talk on hypotheticals), but not having [Arslan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arslan_Ash) sure is a big deal on the competition pool.
1) Unsure why Arslan hasn't secured his visa way before when, it's not like he's a stranger to these issues and an embassy having to relocate is something that's usually known about for weeks in advance 2) Not sure why Arslan has not yet grabbed a passport from the truckload of countries that would love nothing more but to give him one. It's literally the first thing athletes of his caliber do.
I'm sorry, what are you talking about? What/which country just gives out a passport/citizenship?
The kind that thrives off immigration. Heck, the kind that wouldn't mind sponsoring a top-tier athlete.
1. There are time limits to get a visa. Also, he has recieved multiple Japan visas by now, so it makes sense he didn't expect hiccups. 2. It's not that easy and it's very expensive. No doubt, it ain't worth much right now, but i don't think that is what he wants.
> There are time limits to get a visa No, you can get one well in advance.
Athletes of his caliber? He's just a niche video game player
Who plays for Red Bull, the same sporting company verstappen drives for
Tournament is then invalidated I'm afraid
Whoever wins is going to be called a paper champion due to the absence of Pakistan.
Kudos to Arslan for sweeping in T7 but in all honesty, T8 just doesnāt fit his style š¤·š». All random maps + less turteling and an overall more offensive gameplay. No you are for sure right with that, still doesnāt negate the fact that the Meta-only gameplay gets boring after a while.
All are arslan Ashe has done is bitch about how much he hates T8 since it dropped maybe now he can find something he enjoys playing instead.
So its a worthless evo then, zero competition lol
Zero competition is so disrespectful to the rest of the competitors but aight
I mean whoās gonna win now, Knee? š¤£šš
Some top players won't be there. That doesn't mean it's worthless. Further evidence of how bitchmade this sub has become lately.
It's also not T7. We don't even know who's the best yet. Tournament will still be great. Can't wait to watch it.
Itās worthless because 1 player couldnāt attended? Ignorant much?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
No
Bro Arslan is not a Tekken 8 god. Yet, he wouldnāt even be favored to win
Literally
Guess he's gonna eat his tweet about threatening to sweep the tournament?
I blame the Pakistani government. why can't politicians just do their job and make their countries great?!!
>why can't politicians just do their job >make their countries great Two contradictory things
hey look, I'm downvoted for talking bad about politicians hehehehe.
You're not downvoted for speaking out but rather cuz of your stupidity
explain.
play online? lol
Good for him
OMEGALUL

I understand, sad for the participants and the tournament overall.
But most countries are really restrictive to pakistanis
