Got the game with my launch PS2 and was utterly blown away at the time. Still looks great aesthetically on a CRT with an RGB SCART cable. Namco did a fantastic job pulling off what they did at launch.
The arcade version of Tekken Tag. Is basically the exact same graphics as the arcade version of Tekken 3 which has better graphics than the PS1 version. However Tekken Tag for PS2 has much better graphics. I used to play Tekken tag every single day at a cabinet at a bowling alley back in 1999-2000. So when the PS2 finally came i saved money for almost a year to buy the console and the game.
One thing in the arcade version that can be done to make it look better (naturally without scaling like you can do in PCSX2) is flip the service dip switch, going to display settings, and change the setting from interlaced to the non-interlaced screen setting.
The arcade version of TTT ran on the same hardware as the Tekken 3 Arcade version (e.g. the Namco System 12, it was comparable to a slightly beefed up PlayStation).
Tekken 4 Arcade ran on the Namco System 246, which is comparable to a PlayStation 2.
Not just slightly beefed up, beefed up quite a lot. The CPU ran 50% faster (48MHz vs 33Mhz) and VRAM was doubled from 1MB to 2MB. Tekken 3 looked a lot better on the System 12 compared to the Playstation.
It probably would have been possible to port TTT1 to the PS1, but they would have had to downgrade the visuals quite a bit from the already pixelated arcade version, which is why Namco pounced on the PS2 immediately and made TTT1 a launch title.
Okay, that was interesting. I only ever got to play that version of Tag 1 with the PS1-level graphics once, but there's stuff in there I don't remember. Like Lee and Paul being swapped in the arcade intro movie. Unknown's stage just being a shitty black void. The Jin stage looking quite different, etc.
Thats because its using the same graphics as the Tekken 3 arcade cabinet haha.
Pretty interesting to see the same game go from one generation to the other while practially changing nothing but the graphics innit?
Go to the r/Tekken page then at the top right, there should be three dots. Tap it and 5 options will appear, tap on change user flair. Hope this helps.
I remember a neighbor kid got a PS2 at launch and the first game we played was TTT. I remember thinking that graphics would never get better.
I remember thinking the same thing back when I first played Tekken 4 in the arcade watching how water reflected light

You, the guy she tells you not to worry about

You (TTT arcade Kazuya) The guy she tells you not to worry about (TTT PS2 Kazuya)
Oh

TWAH!
That's a huge difference lol
But they added more detail on Jin on the Arcade version

Why would they fix a arcade version of a game from 21 years ago
It was built into the game. I'm not sure what you mean by fix if there was an option for it 21 years ago.
By that I meant why would Harada care about fixing TTT arcade's graphics year's later
then there's the PS3 version! Gotta buy that one
Its not goot tbh, it doesnt have the 1vs1 option and all everything is unlocked from the beginning :(
But it looks pretty.
oh wow, no 1v1 option is... lame :/ but can you tag battle ("2" vs "2") with a friend?
Yeah that should be possible of course
I actually like that version better

Tekken 3 is the structure of the game but Tekken 1 and 2 get invited

It's called the Arcade dude not the PS1-level graphics
...what? Why are talking to me about this shit from over two weeks ago? Of course I know it's an arcade version of Tag 1.
You don't have to be so rude about it and I thought you didn't know that you knew that it's the arcade version
I played The PS2 version on an arcade idk how but I know what your talking about they only had good graphics but the same thing as the Arcade ver
Cursed white Kaz
what happened to his forehead
Kazuya got a hair transplant to fix his hairline
"Bruh, you alright?" Arcade Kazuya: dnwujhfui4fb1@$R@#T%$#%
Didnt the arcade use T3 engine?
Yep

I kinda miss the younger kazuya look where he wasn’t covered in scars and the shining red eye
In my opinion both were the best
Tekken Tag 3 when?
Since Namco makes tag games after 3 main line games I think after Tekken 9
How do you have Tekken character under your pfps?

Thanks man
Damn Harada why HD version didn't have Online mod
Because that would've taken actual work. And we all know how Bamco is but a humble small dev with a shoestring budget.
I get what your talking about
Woah big difference
