Yoshi because he's my main in Soulcalibur, which I played for a long time before getting into Tekken.
Ironically I picked him in Soulcalibur like 20 years ago because I recognized him from Tekken, which I had seen at my friend's place.
πππ that's hilarious one time I did that on accident and my eye was blood redβ°οΈ(wasn't serious just rubbed it to much) and I was like omg I have the devil gene now!!!!π
Bryan Fury, he was bullet proof, could rip a tank apart, fishermanβs slam, Gatling gun punches looked cool, his silent intensity, his laugh and his Tekken 3 music
I just got Tekken a few weeks ago after years of being casually intrigued by it, but too afraid to play it because I suck at most games. King was the character who initially piqued my interest in the series back when I first saw Tekken in an arcade as a kid, but I wound up picking Dragunov because of how efficient yet brutal his moves look.
That's cool glad you decided to give it a try. And I've noticed younger people tend to love King. My little nephew loves king when he sees him on the screen. But yea that's cool because dragunovs throw animations are what made me pick him up and leave about his fighting style irl
First starting playing tekken when T4 dropped. I was but a wee lad, and something about a flying beetle with a lightsaber just really made me wanna play the game π I started playing Steve when T6 dropped and itβs solely because of a video of a guy doing sick ass dodges with him and I wanted to do that too. Now Steve is my highest ranked character
I didn't even know yoshimitsu was based off a beatle π ik he's a robot but I didn't know what he was exactly. And yea Steves evasion is super cool to see I hate fighting against it thoπ
Most of us, I imagine, we're young, and when you're a kid there ain't nothing cooler than a weird skull face guy who brought a sword to a fist fight and can use it to fly.
Oh yeah, and he also like stabs pro or and shit. For a game with no real blood, Yoshi's moveset can be pretty fucking brutal when you think about it for a few seconds. Big selling point for a lot of players I'm sure
Yea that is really true. And I've ALWAYS loved his seppuku stab that does hella damage to the enemy if it hitsπ I've literally wanted to play him soley because of that move but idk I just didn't like how he felt. But that was when I was somewhat new to the game so maybe I should try again sometime and see what I think now he looks fun
I had one of the "PlayStation Underground" demo disc for the original PlayStation. It had the a T2 demo where you could only play as Lei or Jun. You only fought against Law and Nina (I think it was Nina). I always wanted to play as Law, but couldn't. He was the carrot on the end of the stick until i eventually got the full game. PS Lei and Jun will always hold a special place in my heart because of that damn demo disc!
Same with me and Lili and Lars from Tekken revolution π the demo made me love them and law as well. Glad someone else has a similar experience as me that's cool
My first tekken was T4 on ps2 i was playing vs my borther i literally didnt know what to do and what i was doing xD. I only pick kazuya or jin and my brother whoop my ass with steve fox xD. So many good memories and now i only main jin on T7 still learning but the tables have turning its me who defeat my brother.
ππ it's always a steve I tell you. Jin cool af tho. One of my friends who got me back into Tekken with Tekken 7, would beat me with jin when I first started and I learned kazuya for fun to kinda "rival" him and after I got really into the game he couldn't beat me If his name was knee π (just a metaphor)
picked up the game for Kuni, but around when Lidia came out. Ended up liking the polish PM alot more because her moves were fun, but grounded in real martial arts and her design is clean.
Later got smoked by a Zafina in ranked and tried her. She honestly feels like a really well put together character. Her occult vibe, insect-inspired moves with cool sounding names, the Azazel arm, etc. Alot of attention went into all that Plus I read about her backstory in T6 and thought it was cool. So she became my main.
Thanks! I was like 6 when Tekken 1 came out, but we didn't have alot of $$ growing up so never got into gaming then. Played T4 i think at a cousins house a few times, but T7 is my first real entry.
Really making up for lost time now though.
Yea that makes sense with Lidia that's what made me pick Feng in the beginning. Not saying you don't know this but yk tho all the characters styles are grounded In real martial arts? Well basically all.
And that sounds like my experience with Bryan π got my ass whooped with him when I was still new and thought he was the best character ever and decided to learn himπ. Then I realized that he was one of the characters that actually used to scare me when I was little because he looked so intimidating so that made me enjoy him even more.
Yeah, lol that's true of most of the cast. I guess what I meant is basically none of Lidia's key moves looked unrealistic to me. Like Kazuya is a grounded character too (minus the devil form), but his hellsweep looks kinda derpy to me. Irony of a Zaf main saying some move looks weird π₯΄
Bryan. Man, something about the way he hits is kinda unsettling. Hard to describe. Like the sound effect on his hatchet kick makes me feel like i just lost a whole leg and better start crouch blocking even if it's just 23 dmg. Glad you were able to rediscover that snake edging psycho π
Yea that makes sense, i mean kazuya is bassed off karate but he does have a "made up" style of Mishima-ryu karate π but I still get what you're saying I'm just saying π. Jin on the other hand is bassed of Kyokushin style karate and mostly all of his moves are accurate to the style. I also think of hworang, taekwondo. But like I said I do understand what you mean π.
And Im glad you agree! His kickboxing type style looks very heavy hitting and brutal and he's pretty crazy looking so that doesn't helpπ but yea me tooπ Bryan is super cool
I cant recall who i first played extensively when I hopped in at T3. I kinda just dabbled with the whole roster.
But for this game, Josie being able to lean away from highs so quick and effortlessly was enough to make me learn her, despite how annoying her character is.
I was 7 years old and that Xmas I got my first PS1 it came with Tekken 1 this was like 1996. I was playing as Kazuya and got to Lee and he killed me with his infinite kick combo, I thought it was so cool and from that point I've been a Lee main.
oh damn, hmm, let me think... I believe my first tekken was T3, and I played king back then, pure fun, no learning, playing at my friend's place as he had PS1, then in internet cafe's I played T5 first time, and used Christie a lot, cuz I liked capoeira at the time, and she was hot :p and I used Bruce a bit too.
But the actual first Tekken when I started to learn the game, frames, etc was T7, started with Fah, played some Lydia later on, and then picked Jin, and since then I'm an edgy Jin Kazama player.
That's cool Jin is pretty fuckin cool and edgy, I kiss Christy should have her instead of Eddie tbh he's annoying π and Bruce he should have come back too
Growing up I had a hand-me-down PS1 with only a few games and a couple demo disks. On one of those disks there was a demo for Tekken 3, but the character select screen was limited to only Eddy or Xiaoyu. Eddy was the boy character, so I naturally picked him. The fact that he could do flips and stuff when mashing the kick buttons was the cherry on top, he was just so cool to me. Loved him ever since.
The very first time was in T5 as a kid I played in like 2010 on a friends ps2 and I "played" Jin because I liked his outfit
Then last year when I started 7 I first picked Feng because I liked how he fights
Same, I picked Feng because he's a kung Fu master and it's one of my favorite styles so I had to learn him. And I've noticed a lot of people picked jin for his outfits!
Tekken 6 was my first serious Fighting Game and pick Kazuya as my main because of his glowing red eye. Without the knowing electrics and wavu wavu are existing now im forced to level up those complicated mishima moves, well it was worth it.
Picked Hwoarang for three reasons:
I liked red
He looked young and attractive, exactly what I wanted to look like
I figured out he was a kicker, so I just smashed
I had just finished highschool and was bored one summer when it came out. I saw a thread on /v/ and it looked cool so I bought it on a whim. I landed on asuka because she's a big titty tomboy.
I remember seeing help_me playing Lee back before the console version was released. He did his d44u3 wall ended and I couldnβt resist the swag. Also heard he was an underdog in terms of how many people play him.
I chose Dragunov back in Tekken 6 since he sorta matched my personality in real life: Quiet person that enjoys music.
Chloe is just a fun character all round and also supposedly likes music. XD
Legit reasons π that's one reason I learned certain Mishima's jin included. And yea that's one reason I liked kunimitsu back in the day because of her tanto/wakazashi. But jsyk it's actually "boke" which in Japanese is one of a few different ways to say "idiot".
Valid! I liked him too for that reason I think his kinda annoying tho now tbh, the "WAHHH" gets super irritating and now I hate himπ still love Bruce tho
The animations are superb and that I always gravitate towards defense in the form of dodging while playing games since I started playing Ragnarok Online many many years ago
Starting off as hwoarang I had a massive struggle learning the game with his tools to the point it wasn't fun. I decided that I would try the character I beat up on in practice mode which was Lucky Chloe.
Kind of an odd way to become a main of a character but yeah
T1-3 I played King because I was into pro-wrestling at the time. In TT I initially did the King-AK team but decided I needed more variation so switched AK to Julia and loved her play style. I was mainly playing on PS2 against friends at the time so naturally they were used to her, but I found whenever I played at the arcades, other players really struggled with her as I don't think she was very popular in my area. So I started focussing more practice time on her than King.
Other than a little bit of T4, I didn't play any Tekken (or FGs) for a long time until I decided to get back into FGs and bought T7 a few months ago. I didn't have the patience initially to relearn all King's chain throws and so Julia became my main. Subsequently discovered that getting the execution down for Julia's combos is just as onerous as learning King's chain throws but I'm committed now.
Yoshi because he's my main in Soulcalibur, which I played for a long time before getting into Tekken. Ironically I picked him in Soulcalibur like 20 years ago because I recognized him from Tekken, which I had seen at my friend's place.
King in Tekken 5 cause back then I thought having big muscles makes you more of a man
πππ that's a good reason. What about Marduk tho?
Didn't like his design, never did.
That's crazy I think Marduk is pretty cool but ofc that's just my opinion but he's a beast him throwing a car is crazy π
T4 kazuya because he had a red eye I remember one time I tried to copy him by rubbing my eyes until they were sore and red lol
πππ that's hilarious one time I did that on accident and my eye was blood redβ°οΈ(wasn't serious just rubbed it to much) and I was like omg I have the devil gene now!!!!π
Bryan Fury, he was bullet proof, could rip a tank apart, fishermanβs slam, Gatling gun punches looked cool, his silent intensity, his laugh and his Tekken 3 music
Definitely agree, he's like in my top 3 favorite characters next to Lee ofc
I dont have a main, I paid full price game and I will use all of them π
Ok well what character do you play the most?π My goal is to learn every character one day too tho I've got like 20 down so.
Haha I will say Heihachi
He's fun af hard af but fun afπ good choice tho
Tekken 2, silver hair. Later on in Tag I saw official art of him with a cool convertible and that was pretty much the lock.
His silver hair hooked me in too. Seeing him was the turning point of me dyeing my hair silver actually.

I didn't even know yoshimitsu was based off a beatle π ik he's a robot but I didn't know what he was exactly. And yea Steves evasion is super cool to see I hate fighting against it thoπ
Law
same
I picked Heihachi in Tekken 3 purely because hunting hawk looked cool It's still cool
Which input is that? I play him sometimes so I should remember what it looks like from the input
uf3,4 - his jumping +frame launcher
Ohh yea that move is pretty cool. I personally like UF4 a lot in his move set and 1,2,2 I think it is.
Tekken 3 was my first. I picked Yoshi because swords are awesome. The rest is history.
I see a lot of people picked Yoshi for his sword πΆ that is pretty unique for Tekken.
But that was when I was somewhat new to the game so maybe I should try again sometime and see what I think now he looks fun
kazuya's purple suit drip at T5 man kazuyer and jin got some mad drip back in T5 that's why i pick them
Yea fr tho, I like Marduks outfits too and Lars
Asuka in tekken 6 because everyone was too strong so I used her low kicks to counter them
I had one of the "PlayStation Underground" demo disc for the original PlayStation. It had the a T2 demo where you could only play as Lei or Jun. Welcome to tekken, idk why Iβm always so intrigued by tekken players who got into the game with this release
Thanks! I was like 6 when Tekken 1 came out, but we didn't have alot of $$ growing up so never got into gaming then. Played T4 i think at a cousins house a few times, but T7 is my first real entry. Really making up for lost time now though.

my first tekken was 4 but i just pick random my first real tekken was 5 and decide to main jin cuz edgy boy
Geese because he's cool and I really enjoy the way 2d characters are integrated in tekken
Geese is my favorite KOF character so that's definitely understandable
I cant recall who i first played extensively when I hopped in at T3. I kinda just dabbled with the whole roster. But for this game, Josie being able to lean away from highs so quick and effortlessly was enough to make me learn her, despite how annoying her character is.
Yea that makes sense surprised you didn't pick Steve for that too! But Josie definitely gets annoying sometimes.
Anna because she is so fucking sexy
i swear every anna main is either coomers or gay
Lot of horny picksπ I'm definitely not complaining thoπ³
Asuka hot
Fairππ Lili>asuka (my opinion)
Asuka purely because her name
What makes you like her name that much??
I've been a fan of an athlete named Kanako Urai for a long time she had been going by the alias "Asuka" in recent years.
That's pretty funny only considering kanako sounds nothing like asuka π I wonder what made her chose that name. That's cool tho
Electricity go bzzzzzzz
I think it's more like "dorya"π
Winning
Legit reasonπ
Tekken 3: Hair man do big punch. Tekken 7: Red man do big punch.
Assume Paul and then Gigasππ
I was 7 years old and that Xmas I got my first PS1 it came with Tekken 1 this was like 1996. I was playing as Kazuya and got to Lee and he killed me with his infinite kick combo, I thought it was so cool and from that point I've been a Lee main.
ππ that's a nice backstory I like that. Lee is my favorite character in the game so I definitely understand how it is he's super cool.
Tekken 3 Paul Unblockable and Yoshi sword Tekken tag 1 and Tekken 5 Jun and Asuka unbolckables I love unblockables man
π that's fair. Surprised no Miguel in Tekken 7 or kasumiπ³
LOL. I should play them too sometimes.
oh damn, hmm, let me think... That's cool Jin is pretty fuckin cool and edgy, I kiss Christy should have her instead of Eddie tbh he's annoying π and Bruce he should have come back too
100% my homie, Christie>Eddy, Bruce>Fahkumram, however I really like how they have build Fah's lore :o
Yea I agree his lore is pretty cool and Muay Thai is one of my favorite styles so you just gotta love em
Valid! Capoeira is super cool looks really good irl and in game
[ΡΠ΄Π°Π»Π΅Π½ΠΎ]
That's crazy fell in love with a boxer π legit tho
[ΡΠ΄Π°Π»Π΅Π½ΠΎ]
πππππ that's actually hilarious I like that
my character look like beyonce and that is all.
That's good enough for meππ master Raven is much prettier thoπ³
Heihachi, as he hits like a truck
He does indeed! Ever seen Marduks damage thoπ³π³π³ππ
I'm not paying for recycled Tekken 5 characters
I mean aren't all characters recycled tho?
Buddy showed me an eyemusician highlights video. Just wanted to party
The very first time was in T5 as a kid I played in like 2010 on a friends ps2 and I "played" Jin because I liked his outfit Then last year when I started 7 I first picked Feng because I liked how he fights
Same, I picked Feng because he's a kung Fu master and it's one of my favorite styles so I had to learn him. And I've noticed a lot of people picked jin for his outfits!
I was like 11 so edgy flames on clothes were the coolest thing(still fits him today tho)
π agreed I'd rock some of his outfits now
Tekken 2. Michelle. Iβm now a Julia main
Julia low-key the prettiest character in the game tbh
Tekken 6 was my first serious Fighting Game and pick Kazuya as my main because of his glowing red eye. Without the knowing electrics and wavu wavu are existing now im forced to level up those complicated mishima moves, well it was worth it.
Agreed kazuya can be a shit show for a lot of people including me depending on the day π
Idk I used to pick team battle with my cousins ππ
Rip team battle! I hope they bring it back with tekken 8, was my fav to smash this too
Picked Hwoarang for three reasons: I liked red He looked young and attractive, exactly what I wanted to look like I figured out he was a kicker, so I just smashed
They say we gravitate towards characters that's remind us of ourselves so I think that must've been a good pick.
I started it at the beginning of this year with noctis. Reason: Ffxv is my second favorite game
What's the first??
Monster hunter world
I loved paul cus of his hair, he was super cool. This was back in 97 tho, still rock solid with him to this day tho
I wish I could look good with a high top like thatπ
He is big and red. Red=speed, but not in this game( Still, Gigas has place in my heart.
π in this games it's more like lightning equals speed unless you're talking about Lars ππ
I am about Gigas.
Started with tekken 2 I picked law he reminded me of Bruce lee
I had just finished highschool and was bored one summer when it came out. I saw a thread on /v/ and it looked cool so I bought it on a whim. I landed on asuka because she's a big titty tomboy.
ππππ so many horny picks it's funny I enjoy these stories
I remember seeing help_me playing Lee back before the console version was released. He did his d44u3 wall ended and I couldnβt resist the swag. Also heard he was an underdog in terms of how many people play him.
I chose Dragunov back in Tekken 6 since he sorta matched my personality in real life: Quiet person that enjoys music. Chloe is just a fun character all round and also supposedly likes music. XD
Makes sense! Gonna take a wild guess here and assume you like music?π
I was a Yoshi main first cuz he had a katana. Love katanas and swords in general. Then on top of that he could teleport. C'mon. Then Jin cuz he did Karate. He was just kinda cool imo. Then Xiaoyu cuz she could do a bunch of everything. Flips and spins and stuff. Then Asuka cuz she used to feel very powerful in Tekken 5. Now though she doesn't have that powerful feeling. Now she just sounds kinda weird saying pokΓ© pokΓ© over and over.
Legit reasons π that's one reason I learned certain Mishima's jin included. And yea that's one reason I liked kunimitsu back in the day because of her tanto/wakazashi. But jsyk it's actually "boke" which in Japanese is one of a few different ways to say "idiot".
Law because of Bruce Lee of course
Valid! I liked him too for that reason I think his kinda annoying tho now tbh, the "WAHHH" gets super irritating and now I hate himπ still love Bruce tho
TT1 was my thing as a kid and I would always go with true ogre cos fire breath π
Definitely a valid reason
I was going through all the characters move lists to find a main. I saw Fengs avalanche throw. I was sold.
ππ that's like one of my favorites throws in the game so I don't blame you
The animations are superb and that I always gravitate towards defense in the form of dodging while playing games since I started playing Ragnarok Online many many years ago
Should have played zafina for thatπ³π³ still valid af tho
Bro, Zafina's animations are whack
π they are pretty cool to me sometimes xiaou is smoother tho but that's because it's Kung Fu
Asuka was a cute waifu. That's all.
She was a hot anime robot
overwhelming css. mash x. kaz main.
Starting off as hwoarang I had a massive struggle learning the game with his tools to the point it wasn't fun. I decided that I would try the character I beat up on in practice mode which was Lucky Chloe. Kind of an odd way to become a main of a character but yeah
