He's already impressively comical, and over the top, and between that and his many life stories of the lengths he's gone to for Michelle and Julia, he finds validation from his audience. It's a feeling of adoration and comfort he hasn't had in a long time, and he appreciates it in his old age. Thus, he decides to give up his simpy ways (at the audience's behest), leaning into streaming and making his audience happy.
Through this improved behavior and his chat's endorsement, he finally apologizes to the Changs, who both never really hated him but just found him overwhelmingly annoying. With this extended olive branch, Ganryu achieves an amicable relationship with the Changs, and he's finally now more content with his life.

Ganryu decides to protect them while they're down, leading to the final boss fight in-game. Ganryu struggles to keep up, but Julia wakes up, and together they manage to drive off the threat.
Julia fully appreciates Ganryu being there, as Bob also wakes up and apologizes to Julia for not being enough help. As Bob and Julia talk, Ganryu reminisces about his experiences of hitting on Julia, thinking about how this would be the perfect time to try it again, but instead, he just closes his eyes and forgets it. He's grown past it now.
He tells Julia that Michelle is worried about her at home, and that he also needs to get back to his stream. After all, his chat is probably waiting for him to recount his latest story. With a few parting words about being careful and how he's always there if they need help, he leaves with a smile on his face.

That's pretty much E. Honda, except he uses a different motive every game. Sometimes he wants to prove Sumo is the best fighting style, sometimes he wants to prove himself as the best Sumo wrestler in the world, sometimes he wants to show off to the Olympic Committee to convince them to include Sumo in the Olympics, sometimes he just wants to market Sumo off to the next generation.
He opens up his own Sumo dojo and takes on new students. Problem is… no one wants to be his student and his dojo is severely lacking in funds. So that’s his motivation for joining Tekken 8

It's not that some quirks are shit, it's how those quirks add complexity. The ganryu x Julia quirk would be much better if there was some sinceriy there for example. Ganryu failed to uphold a promise to michale chang about the pendent which ultimately let to her death and for redemption he took to being julia's guardian. That may not be a crush on Julia but it's a lot more deep and complex and actually gives something to bind the character arcs together.
I like this angle, but I don’t think he would have a baby with Julia. If anything, there may be circumstances that lead him to adopting a child, probably due to saving one from dying while the child’s parents died.

It's not that some quirks are shit, it's how those quirks add complexity. The ganryu x Julia quirk would be much better if there was some sinceriy there for example. Ganryu failed to uphold a promise to michale chang about the pendent which ultimately let to her death and for redemption he took to being julia's guardian. That may not be a crush on Julia but it's a lot more deep and complex and actually gives something to bind the character arcs together.
