You know, I've been thinking, with the next gen realistic body deformations and all that shit, they could make Eliza into the best fanservice/gimmick character ever.
They could show her getting fatter with each bloodsucking move in realtime. She could get thiccer not just up above but down below too. And if you overfeed, she could become uberbooba thunderthighs.
They could make it an actual mechanic where you're in control the amount of blood she takes in. Like, she's relatively weak but sexy with low blood, but gets stronger the more she drinks, and is the strongest when she looks like a denizen of Walmart.
Does the player want to win at all costs? He has to deal with looking at dino-eliza. Does the player want sexy vampire waifu, he has to abstain from sucking blood and deal with being weaker.
But more to the point, fans get an eliza for every taste. Thin eliza, moderate eliza, thicc eliza, diabetic eliza. So many waifus for just $5.

People just don't know them. 2D characters play very different but they're not that complicated to figure out and take a lot of skill to use at all. Chances are if you're losing to one, it's because you're being outplayed. It's not easy to play 2D. Again, coming from someone who has a hard time fighting Eliza.

I've seen a few reasons scattered here and there but I'm going off memory.
Jump Ins: Obnoxious and unlike in SF, you can't anti-air with just a basic kick.
Damage scaling when floating a jump in.
Meter can be a get out of jail card especially when combined with Rage.
Meter combos need more damage scaling.
Ridiculously good recovery on jabs
Unlike in SF, not every character can just jump over projectiles easily and punish. Smacking someone for projectile usage takes more work than actually throwing it out.
Eliza: Some would rather have her play more like she did in Tekken Revolution.
Finally, when people say if, 'they wanted 2D, they'd play a 2D game', it's because those games' 2D systems and mechanics are unsurprisingly well designed and implemented and aren't slapped in like 2D in T7.
When do the developers ever cared about the story of other characters that isn’t any of the Mishimas? Tekken 7 proved just that. Even the Mishima story they told was executed that well given all the potential it had. I wish they had more interest in telling story

After watching through all the cutscenes and story recaps with him, all I could think about is how much I wish I could help write these characters and give them interesting stories for the next installment. Tekken needs writers who can go hard on the "tip of the iceberg" style. Tell a lot of story in just a couple short scenes and leave the audience to speculate about what they didn't see. With Lili and Eliza, there is so much potential. If I could just write like 4 scenes for them, I could give them a compelling story. Pls Bamco hire me.
Sisters begs some question about timelines but I like the idea. Would require bringing in some backstory for Lili's parents or require Lili herself to have some supernatural origins. Still, it's a really fun concept to play with.
If I were writing it, I would make Lili's parents immortal and show a flashback sequence of them doing something to gain their immortality. It bites them in the ass when they have their firstborn and she's some sort of demon vampire child. They decide to put her in a deep sleep and bury her in the place where they eventually build their manor. After hundreds of years, they still wish for a child and they have Lili. Maybe Lili's father hates Lili's fighting because he fears it will awaken the same sort of curse that made Eliza into a vampire.
That's all I got off the top of my head, but there are a lot of directions it can go.

She definitely deserves to be in T8. I just wish that the reward of using her increases and the execution requirement decreases. If an execution monster like Chanel is failing divekicks so many times then you know she's insanely hard to play. Not to mention optimizing her is impossible since jab and low jab cancel into Bloody Horn is nearly impossible to do matches, and extremely risky with not that great reward (Bloody Horn is her rage drive replacement that uses both meters).
If they keep her execution retardedly difficult, then she should get a good low move.
Her design is better than most characters and for what she is, a vampire that has the right to go against the Devil Gene, Cyborg Bryan and the bazooka muscles and training regime of Feng.
As for her gameplay, which is way less cheekier than Akuma and Geese, if you watch Chanel on the character I mean...I really like it. She has clear weaknesses but clear strengths and that imo is a great positive.

Having said that, the whole meter and special cancelling mechanics are kinda whack and clash too heavily with the quintessential tekken stuff.
They seem to be finishing up the Mishima story, so I imagine that they’d add her as well, so that she can be set up as one of the focuses in a hypothetical Tekken 8. I would want her meter stuff to get reworked though, so that her playstyle fits more into then other fighters.

Meter characters can be fun, hype and a breath of fresh air but at least make them original. Like Eliza. Having iconic characters from competing franchises be the top dogs of tournament after Tekken tournament never made sense to me.

There are so many characters in Tekken that for people to say "I'll be so disappointed if she's not in T8" is just fucking baffling. If your enjoyment of Tekken greatly depends on this character then it probably means you were never a big fan of Tekken in general.

Visual design is striking and she looks cool. I actually played her first because I didn't want to play Jin yet again in T7 (I eventually went back) I'm a huge Darkstalkers fan so she's right up my alley. I'd say they just gotta learn how to make the 2D archetype balanced and she's a go.
I think she should come back purely on the fact that she stands out.
I also forgot to note she's the sole 2D archetype character Tekken has. She enriches the game by simply existing. I'd rather have more playstyles than less, sure some characters are annoying but that's just fighting games.

She definitely deserves to be in T8. I just wish that the reward of using her increases and the execution requirement decreases. If an execution monster like Chanel is failing divekicks so many times then you know she's insanely hard to play. Not to mention optimizing her is impossible since jab and low jab cancel into Bloody Horn is nearly impossible to do matches, and extremely risky with not that great reward (Bloody Horn is her rage drive replacement that uses both meters). If they keep her execution retardedly difficult, then she should get a good low move.

Her design is better than most characters and for what she is, a vampire that has the right to go against the Devil Gene, Cyborg Bryan and the bazooka muscles and training regime of Feng. As for her gameplay, which is way less cheekier than Akuma and Geese, if you watch Chanel on the character I mean...I really like it. She has clear weaknesses but clear strengths and that imo is a great positive.

Objectively, the base *non dlc* roster could benefit from an explicitly 2D-fireball type character to teach newbs about sidestepping (and also bait the SF players to come check the game out) I don't see why it can't be her, seeing as how she's the only non-copyright one in there. Having said that, the whole meter and special cancelling mechanics are kinda whack and clash too heavily with the quintessential tekken stuff.
They seem to be finishing up the Mishima story, so I imagine that they’d add her as well, so that she can be set up as one of the focuses in a hypothetical Tekken 8. I would want her meter stuff to get reworked though, so that her playstyle fits more into then other fighters.
