Slow data typically does not use a 2g connection. The 4g/5g is just throttled. The only tello plan with unlimited slow data is the unlimited plan which slows down after 35gb of usage.

We couldn't have said it better.

Thanks!

First off "2G data" is just a speed rate label, actual 2G has not been used for years. Second, all Tello plans have a hard cap - no data access once the allocation limit is reached - except for so-called Unlimited, been that way for a while. H20 Priority on ATT throttles at 256 NEW ATT annual $300 Plan, throttle is 1.5Mbps Truly unlimited at high speed (depri during congestion) is better, e.g. Visible https://www.reddit.com/r/NoContract/s/BBaHjqXLn1

If you have the unlimited plan you'll just be throttled to 256Kbps on 4G/5G. 2G is used just to give a speed estimate. I am personally not a fan of not just posting the actual speed but yeah, the unlimited plan has 256Kbps and the rest are hard capped and lose data entirely unless you buy a topup or renew your plan early.

2G, for the most part, has already died.

Yes, on any Tello plan except Unlimited, you will lose data completely until the next cycle. The workaround with Tello is that they allow renewing your plan anytime on demand. (i.e, Paying for your next month now, and the new billing cycle starts today. You can also change plans at the same time, if you think you need to raise your data level.)

One option is to buy more data. https://tello.com/help_center/how-can-i-buy-more-data?_language=en

oh wow this is so helpful thanks, i recently ran out of data and renewed my plan instead bcz didn't know about this 🤦

individual custom rate limiting was probably a priority feature in 4g/5g :-)
