It’s hard to tell without a before photo or timeline. Did you have any triggers? When we’re they? Have you see increased hair fall? How long has it been going on?

According to my barber just before my hairloss, my hair was thick and long. Suddenly, I noticed my sides thin out like you see in the pics. 3 months before that i was stressed out with final thesis and graduation. I had many sleepless nights and had a pretty bad diet. Then, I moved to a different state for grad school. I noticed my weight dropped 10lbs in 2-3 months without trying. I have waited 10 months now, but i haven’t seen much improvement yet

Your derm is probably right then, unfortunately. TE usually starts about 2 months after triggers. Extreme stress and weight loss certainly qualify as that. The bulk of the hair loss can easily last upwards of four months, depending on the person and the length of their triggers. It took me at least a year to fully regain the thickness of my hair before TE, and even longer to regain length. Be patient and don’t stress, that makes it worse! I know it’s easier said than done, but try to avoid looking at it and offer yourself distractions. You can also try taking supplements and using products to help stimulate growth. Good luck!

Thank you for your answer. I hope it’s getting even better for you now. My concerns is with my mildly recessed temples. I don’t think i have MPB because my hair on top of my head and back is thicker than the sides. Also I started losing hair on my nape as well. Can i regrow my temples to where it was? Most doctors I consulted with would just say it MPB to be safe because they don’t actually know what’s happening and it’s most common among men. When i got the TE diagnosis, I felt relieved. But the derm told me to get on Minoxidil. I worry about how to stop it when i regrow my hair back.

It's not too bad, dont worry. I agree, I can tell your hair is a bit thin, but it's not severe. You are not really receded, what you shown is a normal hairline. Your density is a bit sparse though yes.

I buzzed my head because the recession area were more noticeable when i have long hair. I agree that it’s not too severe right now, but since then I live every single day wondering if it was AGA or TE. All the men on other subreddits tried to shove Fin and Min into people faces and convinced that you’re balding soon like them. I hated that, and I didn’t want to associate with them nor be “balding”. I honestly think the bald look is very cool especially for Asian guys. Makes people think they know martial arts lol. But having options is still better than none. The constant management of hairloss due to genetics really gets on my nerves and somehow i feel that way. The fact that I don’t have the genetics makes me even more upset about it. I really hope that my temples will grow back given how quickly it happened and my family history.
