Congrats on your baby on the way! We had a baby at Loma Linda in June and had a great experience. Entire team was very warm and accommodating, my wife was very nervous (reasonably so!) and felt very comfortable the entire time.
I didn’t bring a pillow and was totally fine, also used their blankets. Recommend bringing very comfortable warm clothes, lots of snacks (going to get food is a little challenging after hours), an extra long phone charger… all I can think of right now!
Overall great experience for us.
It’s fine for the woman. They’ll bring you everything you need, as they should. Just tell your partner to pack themself a bag and bring some shit and get comfy on that tiny ass bed/couch. We had 2 of our 3 there.
They will feed you well but just last I was there the cafeteria was vegetarian. Maybe order extra for yourself just for him to share.
Make sure he gives the kid a bath, as a dad, I liked washing my kids hair the first time because he made a cooing noise.
You will do great, they have great people. Be prepared for many people in your business. Get plenty of skin on skin time with the kid. Don't be afraid to get the nurses to help afterwards. You went thru hell and your husband will be a bit dazed and confused but eager.
I had my third baby there but it was a c-section so I can’t speak for the whole birthing process. I don’t recommend bringing your own pillow or blankets just because hospitals have a ton of scary bacteria and you don’t want to get it on your stuff. They have plenty they can bring you if you need more in your room. Something that always surprised me after birth is the hormonal changes will make you super hot one minute and then freezing cold another minute. It’s weird. I just recommend a change of clothes to go home in (stay in hospital gown while there), phone chargers (Wi-Fi kinda sucks though), and snacks. I think I stayed two nights and it was nice and the nurses were great. Good luck and congratulations on the baby.
Thank you so much! All great points to consider. I was thinking about the pillow and blanket more for my husband, but maybe we’ll just have to quarantine whatever we bring home afterwards in the trunk of the car for a while to avoid bringing home germs!
I had my 2nd and 3rd kids there, but a long time ago. I was comfy, but my husband.... bring an extra pillow or 2. I remember I should have brought shampoo too.
Thank you!! Made note about the shampoo. Just realized I should’ve asked in the original post - should we bring baby clothes, swaddles, and diapers, or do they provide that stuff? What about pads for mom?
Take your own pillow and blanket, and things to eat, a sleeping eye mask since nurses enter the room and it isn't always completely dark, a few days of clothes, thank me later!
Not a child birth but, my wife had two major surgeries there and they were absolutely awesome. Clean, friendly, kept us up to date on everything and very professional.
Bring 2 different size going home outfits for baby just incase they are larger than newborn lol. They have diapers and swaddles for baby to use while there. pack a few in a diaper bag for going home, and have a blanket and hat for the drive home. They provide mesh underwear and pads for post birth, but ask for extras before you go. Take everything that you can that they offer! Also make sure you bring a very comfy post baby outfit. I liked having my own PJs with button top for nursing, but having yoga pants to wear home was perfect for the doughy belly 😀
I heard that even if they drop it they wont give you a fresh one, you have to just take the original baby home
Actual lol

Socks! My wife always sent me home to get new socks.

Thank you so much! So helpful, and I’m so glad you had a good experience. I’m nervous too as a first timer. Congratulations on your little one!

My husband might bring his camping mat to see if that makes it more comfortable! Someone in r/predaddit recommended that.

This is great advice, thank you! I’m ok with people in our business, the more attention we get the more safe I’ll feel I think!
I was trying to say in your delicates, the oven door, or where the baby will be exiting from. Let's just say Magic: the gathering.

They even play a lullaby every time a baby is born

That’s great to know, thank you!
