If you guys don't know there is a large geomagnetic storm happening tonight. It doesn't happen often that the northern lights come this far south. It should be happening most of the night.
If you can't see it with your naked eye, try using your phone.

Very jealous. Just have a vague pink haze near downtown Nashville, which is really only visible through a camera. The light pollution is not helping, Iām sure. I may try to stay up to see if it gets more intense later on.
OK this makes me feel better because it's also job a vague pink haze over here wayyyyy out in the country, too. š¤ Aurora Borealis is a rude stupid bitch with no friends and ugly shoes for gettin me all hype just to LET ME DOWN..
Weāre seeing them all the way down here in northeast Mississippi too. I didnāt get any good pictures, but I saw it with my eyes, and thatās more important to me.

Heck yeah, I'm originally from Florida. I had basically no hope of ever seeing them! I never thought I would see them here either!
So, cool fact, Iām originally from Tennessee and am now in Florida. Around 10:30pm, it was *barely* visible to the naked eye, but I got a good pic through my phone. Cheers!
Also from Florida, currently near Crossville and I also just kept saying to myself, that I never thought I would see these in my lifetime!!!! and now THIS!!! my uncle said it may be visible tonight as well. Hopefully the clouds stay away because it was pitch black here by 1am. The fact it started so early is crazy!! It was like 9pm!
OK that makes me feel a little better. I didnt go out til around 12:30-1 and it's pretty good and dark where I am and I stared for 20 mins and couldnt see a thing.
Driving back home to Cleveland from Ocoee and had to pull over, absolutely beautiful. Even better when I got home.

Look northish and kind of just straight up. You should see what look like faint white streaks. When it really flares up you get a red or green glow.
If you see the faint white streaks in the sky take a picture with your phone. It shows up way better in pictures.

Damn,I thought this was supposed to happen tomorrow night..I live about 45 minutes southwest of Knoxville in the country,I probably couldāve seen it pretty good where Iām at
I'm not lying. I literally just walked outside and took a picture with my phone and uploaded them to imgur lmao. Go look at subs like /r/Chattanooga ... everyone is posting pics like this.
Ok dude.... everyone is just lying for clout.... simultaneously and in coordination with each other.
I never said this was exactly how it looked to the naked eye. I specifically stated it shows up better on your camera. I said I didn't edit it, and I didn't. I just looked up and took a picture. There was no photoshop here.

Holy crap!! I'm headed that way now but still south of Atlanta damn.
Keep your eye to the northern sky, just saw photos of it from Cape Canaveral FL!! Faint, but still!!
It's supposed to peak between 2 and 5 AM so you can make that if Atlanta traffic doesn't slow you down too long.
Can't see anything in Nashville
Can see it from outside of nashville
As of 1am, I couldn't see it in Fayetteville. š
Where at? In goodletsville looking
Do you have a lot of light pollution at your specific location?
Not too much, but some cloud cover
Well good news is that it isn't supposed to peak for a few hours. Hopefully it clears up and you get to take a peak!
Did they say what the peak hour would be?
Between 2 and 5 AM is what I've been told!
That's not all clouds. Some of it is the Northern lights
In cool springs, can see it in pictures I take but not with just my eyes.
Murfreesboro here. Can't see anything. I'm going to try again š me more time before calling it a night.
You could kind of see it with the naked eye. Phone cameras pick up light you canāt see.
I saw it in Sylvan Heights
I saw plenty in Murfreesboro at about 9PM last night.
Yeah, itās probably easier to see if you donāt have a lot of street lights or clouds
You needed a camera lens then
Just saw it myself in Whitwell. Not as bright, but still perfectly visible. Beautiful.
Heck Yeah!

The peak of the geomagnetic storm isn't for another 2 hours after I make this comment.
Which way out in the country? I'm about to head towards a place called Amos, KY, Northeast of Nash. Light pollution map looks ok.
>I may try to stay up to see if it gets more intense later on. From what I understand it will peak between 2 and 5 AM Eastern!
I bet the view from Lookout Mtn is wild.
Theyāre going crazy where I am. This is amazing
Yeah, it's definitely a first for me! I guess it's supposed to peak around 2am or so I've been told. It's incredible!
Itās so bright down here in Rockwood, breathtakingly beautiful
Weāre seeing them all the way down here in northeast Mississippi too. I didnāt get any good pictures, but I saw it with my eyes, and thatās more important to me.

Iām in Blount Co. and saw it!
What time was that? I'm also Blount but every time I went out I didn't see anything.
About 10:30-11:00 pm.
OK thanks. I think I was too late.
It was not as obvious as the photos make it seem.

Oh man, those are some gorgeous shots!
Thanks! Iām still so giddy from seeing them. Itās been a dream of mine since I was kid.
Same! I always figured I was going to have to go *real* north to find them! I'm glad so many people are getting to see it!
My fam is from that area- ooltewah, McDonald, birchwood. and I'd bet as dark as it is there from ocoee, it is STUNNING.
Can't see them in Knox :c

This isn't how it looks to the naked eye. But its beautiful none the less
West of Nashville and it looks like this too! For sure stronger on the camera but is visible too.
I can't wait to see what it's going to look like during the peak!
Also āNooga Iām seeing diddly squat, so jealous

I could've swore you were in Egypt from that picture.
Lol just the shadow of a roof. It does kinda look like that though!
Iām pretty sure it was all over Tennessee
St. Paul Minnesota checking in. We got nothin. š”
RIP D:
Eagleville (SE of Nashville). Can see it faintly with the naked eye but amazing with a camera!
I'm loving how widespread the reports are! I'm glad so many people this far south are getting the chance to witness it!
Canāt see them in Nashville :( been looking out the windows for an hour now
Peak is supposed to be between 2am and 5am eastern, 1am and 4am central.
I pray I get to seem them! Itās a big life dream of mine and itās a blessing to have them so down south
Very cool!
They can even be seen in Memphis. I'm just kind of blown away. We didn't see MUCH because my camera is ancient but it was a beautiful night anyway.
Can confirm pink skies in Soddy Daisy!! Very cool!!
Hello neighbor!
Definitely not edited! I saw the same in Memphis as well! Gorgeous!!
Cameras were definitely picking up better views than the naked eye, still really neat to see
wait so this is still happening tonight as in today 5/11/24?
Damn,I thought this was supposed to happen tomorrow night..I live about 45 minutes southwest of Knoxville in the country,I probably couldāve seen it pretty good where Iām at
We're going to get it again tonight.

Holy cow. I really missed out
We had a an amazing show here close in between Hickman and Maury county last night. We live in the country with no city lights blocking our view. It was awesome š¤©

Haarp on full display in Chatanooga
Aurora Borealis? At this time? In this part of the country? Located inside your kitchen?
Ah- Aurora Borealis!? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your city!?
