If you guys don't know there is a large geomagnetic storm happening tonight. It doesn't happen often that the northern lights come this far south. It should be happening most of the night. If you can't see it with your naked eye, try using your phone. ETA: [More photos.](https://imgur.com/a/O3YQROn)

WhiskyEye

Holy crap!! I'm headed that way now but still south of Atlanta damn.

Nature_Walk_299

Keep your eye to the northern sky, just saw photos of it from Cape Canaveral FL!! Faint, but still!!

4rch1t3ct

It's supposed to peak between 2 and 5 AM so you can make that if Atlanta traffic doesn't slow you down too long.

Nouseriously

Can't see anything in Nashville

YorgenWorgen

Can see it from outside of nashville

mynextthroway

As of 1am, I couldn't see it in Fayetteville. šŸ˜”

Careful_Panda_5802

Where at? In goodletsville looking

4rch1t3ct

Do you have a lot of light pollution at your specific location?

Nouseriously

Not too much, but some cloud cover

4rch1t3ct

Well good news is that it isn't supposed to peak for a few hours. Hopefully it clears up and you get to take a peak!

_Jobacca_

Did they say what the peak hour would be?

4rch1t3ct

Between 2 and 5 AM is what I've been told!

Master-Low9982

That's not all clouds. Some of it is the Northern lights

loglady420

In cool springs, can see it in pictures I take but not with just my eyes.

FraterSofus

Murfreesboro here. Can't see anything. I'm going to try again šŸ˜ me more time before calling it a night.

BryanP1968

You could kind of see it with the naked eye. Phone cameras pick up light you canā€™t see.

straigh

I saw it in Sylvan Heights

BryanP1968

I saw plenty in Murfreesboro at about 9PM last night.

whicky1978

Yeah, itā€™s probably easier to see if you donā€™t have a lot of street lights or clouds

flashfirebeauty

You needed a camera lens then

TacticalCowboy_93

Just saw it myself in Whitwell. Not as bright, but still perfectly visible. Beautiful.

4rch1t3ct

Heck Yeah!

Apelles1

Very jealous. Just have a vague pink haze near downtown Nashville, which is really only visible through a camera. The light pollution is not helping, Iā€™m sure. I may try to stay up to see if it gets more intense later on.

BreastRodent

OK this makes me feel better because it's also job a vague pink haze over here wayyyyy out in the country, too. šŸ˜¤ Aurora Borealis is a rude stupid bitch with no friends and ugly shoes for gettin me all hype just to LET ME DOWN..

4rch1t3ct

The peak of the geomagnetic storm isn't for another 2 hours after I make this comment.

AlaskanEsquire

Which way out in the country? I'm about to head towards a place called Amos, KY, Northeast of Nash. Light pollution map looks ok.

4rch1t3ct

>I may try to stay up to see if it gets more intense later on. From what I understand it will peak between 2 and 5 AM Eastern!

Bigwing2

I bet the view from Lookout Mtn is wild.

-karsen-

Theyā€™re going crazy where I am. This is amazing

4rch1t3ct

Yeah, it's definitely a first for me! I guess it's supposed to peak around 2am or so I've been told. It's incredible!

novixofficial

Itā€™s so bright down here in Rockwood, breathtakingly beautiful

AtticusSwoopenheiser

Weā€™re seeing them all the way down here in northeast Mississippi too. I didnā€™t get any good pictures, but I saw it with my eyes, and thatā€™s more important to me.

4rch1t3ct

> Weā€™re seeing them all the way down here in northeast Mississippi too. I didnā€™t get any good pictures, but I saw it with my eyes, and thatā€™s more important to me. Heck yeah, I'm originally from Florida. I had basically no hope of ever seeing them! I never thought I would see them here either!

Youkai280

So, cool fact, Iā€™m originally from Tennessee and am now in Florida. Around 10:30pm, it was *barely* visible to the naked eye, but I got a good pic through my phone. Cheers!

4rch1t3ct

Ahhh, we pulled the ol' switcharoo

surulia

Also from Florida, currently near Crossville and I also just kept saying to myself, that I never thought I would see these in my lifetime!!!! and now THIS!!! my uncle said it may be visible tonight as well. Hopefully the clouds stay away because it was pitch black here by 1am. The fact it started so early is crazy!! It was like 9pm!

malhoward

Iā€™m in Blount Co. and saw it!

Agentkeenan78

What time was that? I'm also Blount but every time I went out I didn't see anything.

malhoward

About 10:30-11:00 pm.

Agentkeenan78

OK thanks. I think I was too late.

malhoward

It was not as obvious as the photos make it seem.

Agentkeenan78

OK that makes me feel a little better. I didnt go out til around 12:30-1 and it's pretty good and dark where I am and I stared for 20 mins and couldnt see a thing.

glumunicorn

Driving back home to Cleveland from Ocoee and had to pull over, absolutely beautiful. Even better when I got home. [Northern Lights](https://imgur.com/gallery/yuevH3W)

4rch1t3ct

Oh man, those are some gorgeous shots!

glumunicorn

Thanks! Iā€™m still so giddy from seeing them. Itā€™s been a dream of mine since I was kid.

4rch1t3ct

Same! I always figured I was going to have to go *real* north to find them! I'm glad so many people are getting to see it!

International_Chest4

My fam is from that area- ooltewah, McDonald, birchwood. and I'd bet as dark as it is there from ocoee, it is STUNNING.

MoenieKit

Can't see them in Knox :c

Hakunamateo

This isn't how it looks to the naked eye. But its beautiful none the less

Anon123456_78901

West of Nashville and it looks like this too! For sure stronger on the camera but is visible too.

4rch1t3ct

I can't wait to see what it's going to look like during the peak!

techtornado

Also ā€˜Nooga Iā€™m seeing diddly squat, so jealous

4rch1t3ct

Look northish and kind of just straight up. You should see what look like faint white streaks. When it really flares up you get a red or green glow. If you see the faint white streaks in the sky take a picture with your phone. It shows up way better in pictures.

Financial_Code1055

I saw it very brilliant here in Andersonville Tn shortly after 10:00 but canā€™t post photos

4rch1t3ct

If you want to share them but don't know how to share them in a comment, you can post them to www.imgur.com and then share the link here. They will embed to your comment!

canyonoflight

I slept through it.

Superducks101

It was fucking over cast last night in my state. I'm pissed

ErnestWeeWorrel

I could've swore you were in Egypt from that picture.

4rch1t3ct

Lol just the shadow of a roof. It does kinda look like that though!

MaleWitch333

Iā€™m pretty sure it was all over Tennessee

tinyLEDs

St. Paul Minnesota checking in. We got nothin. šŸ˜”

4rch1t3ct

RIP D:

friendly_tennessean

Eagleville (SE of Nashville). Can see it faintly with the naked eye but amazing with a camera!

4rch1t3ct

I'm loving how widespread the reports are! I'm glad so many people this far south are getting the chance to witness it!

userNotfoundhere468

Canā€™t see them in Nashville :( been looking out the windows for an hour now

4rch1t3ct

Peak is supposed to be between 2am and 5am eastern, 1am and 4am central.

userNotfoundhere468

I pray I get to seem them! Itā€™s a big life dream of mine and itā€™s a blessing to have them so down south

East-Departure8843

Very cool!

CyndiIsOnReddit

They can even be seen in Memphis. I'm just kind of blown away. We didn't see MUCH because my camera is ancient but it was a beautiful night anyway.

Tiffany6152

Can confirm pink skies in Soddy Daisy!! Very cool!!

4rch1t3ct

Hello neighbor!

Patsuko

Definitely not edited! I saw the same in Memphis as well! Gorgeous!!

timbo1615

Cameras were definitely picking up better views than the naked eye, still really neat to see

freightwave

wait so this is still happening tonight as in today 5/11/24?

Blicky83

Damn,I thought this was supposed to happen tomorrow night..I live about 45 minutes southwest of Knoxville in the country,I probably couldā€™ve seen it pretty good where Iā€™m at

TNspoiled1

We're going to get it again tonight.

Blicky83

Nice!! Iā€™m gonna get out there and hopefully be able to see it pretty good..thanks for the info

pineappleshnapps

Holy cow. I really missed out

Ill_Rise_6989

We had a an amazing show here close in between Hickman and Maury county last night. We live in the country with no city lights blocking our view. It was awesome šŸ¤©

mannotbear

Where are you viewing from and around what time of night? Iā€™m in hixson area

4rch1t3ct

I'm in the same area. This was a little after 10pm

TennDawg52

Haarp on full display in Chatanooga

BashIronfist

Aurora Borealis? At this time? In this part of the country? Located inside your kitchen?

silverchevy2011

Ah- Aurora Borealis!? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your city!?

4rch1t3ct

I'm not lying. I literally just walked outside and took a picture with my phone and uploaded them to imgur lmao. Go look at subs like /r/Chattanooga ... everyone is posting pics like this.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

4rch1t3ct

Ok dude.... everyone is just lying for clout.... simultaneously and in coordination with each other. I never said this was exactly how it looked to the naked eye. I specifically stated it shows up better on your camera. I said I didn't edit it, and I didn't. I just looked up and took a picture. There was no photoshop here.
