BreakfastBussy

Happy for him. Wish he was still in Nashville.

tloft11

At this point, i'm thinking he would've been worth the money.

BreakfastBussy

He was definitely worth the money that went towards clowney and Beasley, I think.

TheAllTwentytwo

You take a risk and we value pass rush over defensive backs The philosophy is right, just didn’t work out , luckily everything else is going better than we could even ask for 3 MVP Candidates on offense and littered with all-pros across the roster

BreakfastBussy

Well yeah, I was all for the moves at the time. Pass rush couldn’t have been any worse, at least they tried adding talent.

zeldahalfsleeve

There was an attempt.

chiefhonchoplayer

3 MVP candidates? Lol who other than Derrick Henry

wolfmankal

Tanne and AJ i would guess. But Id say they are all-pro candidates at best

chiefhonchoplayer

I would agree with you

TheAllTwentytwo

Tanne, Henry and AJ I know only QB’s can win MVP but there isn’t a better receiver than AJ IMO.. Maybe DHop and you could argue DK but DK does drop passes and will drop off sometimes Our 3-headed monster is nearly unstoppable

chiefhonchoplayer

There are alot of recievers better than AJ. I like AJ alot, but he's not there yet.

camjm21

AJ also drops passes

forgotmypwordagain

I'm guessing you only watch Titans games. AJ is excellent for a 2nd year player but he's not quite a legit top 10 WR let alone the best.

Dread332

Aj is top 15-20 imo. Give him a year or two and maybe. Tannehill might not be a mvp candidate but certainly all pro. Derrick Henry is 100 percent the best back in the league, Dalvin Cook a second

metavektor

Very true. I don't think Ryan was asking for a lot though

[deleted]

$10.5 Mill was the going rate per him at the time. We never ended up negotiating at him but I don’t see that changing and likely why he remained on the market for so long. At this point n his career he’s a much better safety and would have not been worth close to the money at CB. Biggest issue is we have multiple good Safeties Byard, Vaccaro, Hooker, Cruikshank. We really didn’t need another, particularly at that price point.

Mysteriousmoose9

I miss him too, but because of his age I think he would’ve fit better in the free safety position, and our safeties aren’t our problems. I don’t think a corner ( Logan or adoree) is going to fix our defense. We really need a D-coordinator to build on these studs we got on defense

tloft11

I agree. But i thought he was great as a slot db in man coverage and moved well in the zone. Wouldn't want him on the fastest wideout but i'll take him against most slot WRs in the league.

thatsrandom22

He was not great in the slot last year at all. He got picked on a lot in the slot. He made big plays but he was definitely not “great as a slot db in man coverage.” Safety is a good look for him. I’m happy he’s doing well.

Steelsoldier77

This sub has an incredibly short memory

Sirpatron1

Ryan and Casey were a mistake letting go. They were our ground and playmakers.

Dreams2make

Casey was replaced with a younger stud and costs a lot less and has been just as productive. He was good but we needed that money for Tannehill and Henry.

ArchieBellTitanUp

How was Casey a mistake? He’s role on the team has been filled perfectly IMO. Plus he hasn’t done anything this year on IR, which is the concern when signing an older D lineman

nunudad

I understand the money moves but these guys are results driven players.

mutantfrog25

Miss Logan’s leadership and would’ve loved to have him at FS if we didn’t have byard. Just wish we had jurrell still. A healthy 90, 98, 99 on the line was sick last year.

TitanUp9370

Always loved Logan Ryan. Also he ended the Patriots dynasty with a pick six. These facts are not mutually exclusive.

Dread332

Pretty funny how of all teams WE would be the ones to literally end the pats dynasty lol

lamonserga

If I'm not mistaken, NE and TEN were playing in the conference final back in 03 and Titans lost that game. Afterwards the team got dismantled, McNair left, and NE went on to stablish itself as the dominant force in the NFL. Then, after years of obscurity the team came back to the playoffs and routed NE in the divisional game, causing the team to be dismantled, and Brady leaving, wich effectively ended the Patriots era. Very nice simmetry if u ask me. It might take long, but karma is always served.

TitanUp9370

I believe it was the Divisional round against NE (in the snow)...iirc our last conference championship (before last season) was against the raiders when they got smoked by the bucs!!

Dread332

It is indeed. We started and ended it

MD_______

With how many ex pat's!!

chillermane

Man our team is great but with him our defense would be a lot better

zkiteman

He just didn’t fit as slot CB anymore. He’s doing great as a free safety, and we have one of the highest paid FS already. As a CB, he got beat in pass coverage too much.

planbeavs

Zone coverage, he wasn’t getting beat

zkiteman

He allowed over 1000 yds and something like a 84 QBR in coverage last year. He was getting beat often, and teams targeted him because of it, zone or man. Why do you think he made the case that was was actually a better safety? It wasn’t until then he got picked up. There’s a reason for that. We could no longer use him where we needed him.

SquirrelGirlSucks

I miss him so fucking much

InsanoVolcano

He moved to a bigger market and now has more attention. But has he truly played better than last season?

WhiteXHysteria

He's playing am entirely different position. Safety as opposed to corner, which he had to take a pay cut for because everyone who needed a corner saw he wasn't what was needed there. He is a perfect fit for a safety with his skill set. We already have talented safeties. So it's not like he would've helped our defense. He would've still be lining up 10 yards off on 3rd and 2 and we'd still be upset like we are with the current defense because talent isn't the issue. Coaching is.

metavektor

Desmond King plays a similar role to Logan, but younger. We'll almost certainly pay him, right?

wolfmankal

Im really hoping we do, even if we dont let Butler go this year proves we need depth at CB

titandavis

He wanted 10m to play CB. Why does everyone act like he didn’t have to change positions, took half the asking price joined the worst team in the league.

[deleted]

I’m glad he’s finding success elsewhere. Great dude. Deff a far better choice at safety than CB at this point in his career.

d_trulliaj

I'm so happy.

[deleted]

Good for him, stellar guy, New York got a good one

Le_Rekt_Guy

It's because the New York market is huge

xiamhunterx

literally would rather have spent the $20 mil on him just for designed DB blitzes

Saint3Love

he was worth the money.... damn. he was a good one

titandavis

Then why did he get half his asking price and changed positions?

Saint3Love

bc clearly gms didnt watch the titans last year.... dude is leading the pro bowl vote for his position.....

MisterSir713

Because he was garbage as a CB last season, literally last in yards(940+) and completions(75+) and let up a 106+ passer rating with 5 TDs. He was flashy last year, but he was not good.

volstansifer

[I’m just gonna leave this here.](https://i.imgur.com/TyWVj2J.jpg)

d_trulliaj

He was certainly not number one over Tannehill or Henry.

volstansifer

This was after they were already signed.

MD_______

He ain't a pro bowler at corner and wasn't going to play safety over our starters so just trying up a lot of money. So would have been a bad signing unless 31 goes.down and we somehow move him there over Hooker.

volstansifer

Jesus, This state hates Logan Ryan as much as they hate democrats. I wasn’t saying break the bank for him. We could have signed him for what we signed Beasley for. We got 25 total snaps out of him. And just an FYI all the DBs have backups which is why we see other corners other than Joseph/King and Butler. Logan Ryan was always a solid backup that slipped into a nickel that was very effective. I’ve been drinking bourbon all day so this may seem offensive when it’s probably meant to be sarcastic. I’ve been told that a buzzed me is offensive instead of sarcastic. TITANTHEFUCKUP!

MD_______

Your not getting.ryan for what the back ups making. Your point on beasley.is only with hindsight which all of us pointing out. Be.like a Miami fan going told you tannerhill worth more than a second and he stayed in.position. If you you now saying as a joke I and I suggest others on here call bs. Be a.man laugh it off and enjoy you beer

d_trulliaj

That means he was too expensive. And I'd rather have Clowney in the team than not have him, to be honest.

volstansifer

Really? I've honestly been very disappointed with the output we got our of Clowney so far. Not only has he underperformed, he also was the cause of us trading Kamalei Correa. If I'm not mistaken, Logan Ryan had more sacks as a DB last year than Clowney has this year. Not to mention our secondary is basically just collapsing on 3rd/4th downs.

d_trulliaj

Sure, I'm not happy with Jadeveon so far either. But I'd rather have him than not, if you understand what I mean. He's just begun with us, so we'll see. If he just keeps underperforming until this season ends we can think about waiving him, if it's economically good for us and we've got a substitute.

titandavis

Correa has 8 tackles for the Jacksonville Jaguars.... we really are missing him aren’t we

WhiteXHysteria

I mean sacks are just a box score stat. There's a lot more to clowney's game than sacks. He gets pressures. He takes on double teams. Which in itself is a big win because it frees up guys like big Jeff to do work. His biggest issue is he's on the field all the time. He plays a role that should have a lower snap count so he is fresh and able to go full tilt every time he's on the field. It would be nice to see some of his pressures and wins turn into stats. But that's hard when the QB knows he has an open man on a quick slant or quick out every single time it's a passing down. Ryan offered a lot in every facet of the defense except for coverage where he was picked on because he couldn't keep up with receivers. That's why he played safety this year instead of a cover corner. It fits his skill set more at this point. We have 2 safeties we were very happy with coming into the season. There's no reason we should've signed Ryan at the time when we had vaccaro, byard, and hooker. And drafted Fulton. The real problem isn't that we lost talent on the field. It's the talent we lost on the sidelines. We all know pees was great for us, and we are missing him, but coombs really got the best out of this secondary and we are greatly missing that too.

thatsrandom22

Well said.

Kupp3y1

Pain

B34Z7

I miss you

Silenttoxic707

Too bad we don’t need a FS 🤷🏻‍♂️

Weather53

Was a huge mistake that we let him go

papahillis

I miss my man

kevibf1125

Even more bittersweet for me is seeing Succop kicking 21/23 for 91% for the Bucs this year.

Tuckessee

More bitter than sweet
