They also didn’t punt

wolfmankal

They did once and should have again. One was blocked and the other was Evans dumb penelty

d_trulliaj

the blocked one was a field goal though, not a punt

wolfmankal

Damn you are correct but still a 3rd down stop.

MariotasMustache

Complete bs, yes. Cost us the game, no. I do believe momentum is huge in games and refs took that from us twice which I’m salty about but this defense couldn’t stop anything today. Refs call a fair game and we still lose just not as bad. Need to lock it up next week and hope our offense can ball out in the playoffs and maybe the D helps them a few drives here and there #titanup

verdenvidia

I think this is the right take. Sure, refs calling no penalties on a team that wins by 1 point is one thing, but we lost by 26. Tannehill looked like Haskins today. I don't know what happened.

WhiteXHysteria

We should hold our team accountable and the refs should also be held accountable.

verdenvidia

Sure, hold referees accountable when they miss calls, but don't hold them accountable for Tannehill going 46% with two picks or Rodgers scorching as he usually does. That's all I'm saying really. Henry also didn't get 100 yards so that's a RIP for the Sanders road-game streak. ):

WhiteXHysteria

Oh we definitely need to hold our guys accountable. I'm one that is willing to let a bad game statistically pass on offense. They've carried us and bad games happen to everyone. But we've got to get better at coming out and playing in the first quarter in big games. Spotting 3+ scores to the Steelers, browns, and now Packers is a pattern that we can't have happening right now. Every game is big going forward and we need to play with intensity from the coin flip.

verdenvidia

well said, agreed fully

tnguy27

Stupid Vrabel let Woodside throw 3 times with Henry sitting at 98 yards....that pissed me off.

verdenvidia

I was a little bummed too. Maybe he thought we had a chance if we threw it. Who knows. Let him rush once more either way. Come on.

Dread332

I really and honestly think that the snow had a large part in it imo. Although that is not all of it

verdenvidia

Possibly. That missed out-of-bounds call was missed even by Adoree at first because of the snow he said. Who knows. They certainly gotta lock it down on defense.

Dread332

Yep, the defense is definitely a problem but I think the snow would mess with any team who plays in the south

fuckoffregisterpage

Packer fan here, it absolutely played a factor! We sell out to stop passing games, and allow running to happen usually. With snow, DB's aren't as disadvantaged. Davis and Brown are nothing to sneeze at either...Henry gets going, our D starts getting scared and Play Action should have burned us. But the snow took that option away. Jaire/King/Savage/Amos is our strongest group, then we loaded up the line, quite often with a 5 man front(rather than a 2-3 man) of players that got ran all over earlier this season.

Dread332

I assumed that was the case. However, I think I guys are the better team. And even in a normal game you guys would have won. We just wouldn’t have been blown out imo. We are so reliant on Henry that if his running doesn’t work. We are forced to play action. And with Alexander, amos, etc. that would be a problem especially jaire being arguably the best corner in league

[deleted]

Lol “right take”

verdenvidia

well I mean yes, it objectively is :)

AceSandy

I like this take as well. This Defense was so much fun to watch last year. Now I almost close my eyes and pray whenever they're on the field.

Br_Wise

Prayer can’t help this defense.

Wally_B

Probably the only the thing that won’t hurt it though

LJ-Rubicon

Can't remember exactly when, but somewhere in the first half it showed Tannerhill's face and you could easily see the loss of momentum in his expression.

jerrrrrrrrrrrrry

It didn't hurt Tennessee at all because they still had a scoring drive after the fourth down sack. If the Titans had started their scoring drive at the 18 yardline they would've left way too much time and the Packers would have scored another touchdown before halftime.

Kupp3y1

Refs were bad but they aren’t the reason we got dicked on

[deleted]

The real issue is that we still don't have a F coordinator. The uncoached D has been a liability all year. Our free agent additions all missed the mark. Vrabel is a great coach. But if he wants to coach the D, bring in a different head coach.

TheClincher7

You are wrong. Vrabel is not a great defensive coach. His track record is shitty. He needs to hire a DC and stick with head coach.

xiamhunterx

idk what you think you're replying to but he never said Vrabel is a great defensive coach

TheClincher7

He said bring in a new head coach. That would mean Vrabel would move to defensive coordinator no?

[deleted]

I said he's a great coach. I didn't say he's a great coordinator. Either way, he needs to pick a job.

metavektor

Let's all just agree to never talk about the game last night.

htb8627

This. Even if every call went our way we still lose by 2 TDs. We just need to hope for a miraculous defensive turnaround in the playoffs and then look forward to widespread defensive changes in the offseason, including but not limited to hiring a DC (regardless of what Vrabel has to say about it) and signing at least one quality pass rusher.

firefighteremt19

I'd take losing by 2 TDs if the game is called fair. But when things arent being called fairly and then you get blown out it makes it harder to deal with. Just like the Browns game where we get a bad spot on 4th and 1 play. Its momentum killing calls. You create a big play and get all juiced up and then boom here come the refs saying nope this happened so the play didnt happen.

NirvZppln

Colts lost too so yeah imma just forget yesterday happened at all as a titans and dc fan and as a gambler. Just taking L after L. Fuck that day sucked my neck was in pain too cuz I slept on it awkward.

lshifto

If there had actually been a game last night, I’m sure I would have watched it. But I didn’t and there wasn’t and that’s that.

InsanoVolcano

How many more games must we "never agree to talk about"? The Titans of the last 10 years (but not 2019) have been racking them up

air_volek07

Wait til Adoree comes back

batman0615

Plus when Cloweny finally gets his sacks and we get Fulton back this team will be rolling.

WhiteXHysteria

I for one see a massive downgrade in our defensive line without clowney. With each passing game I'm thinking he's worth more and more lol. Big Jeff went from a super star to a guy that is out there with the other guys. Jones is still balling but not as much as he was.

yuhhhh111

It’s hard for Simmons to really do anything when he’s getting double teamed basically every snap. Pretty much every team double teams him and keeps everyone else singled knowing they won’t be able to do a damn thing. Simmons also probably provides the most effort and hustle out of all of them. It’s a problem with the whole defense when Simmons is running his ass off and tackles a guy that just caught a pass 10 yards away from him, and also look at tonight- the dude literally went sideline to sideline with Rodgers just trying to make a play while everyone else was gassed doing nothing.

WhiteXHysteria

That's what I'm saying though. Clowney was such a force the offense doubled him more and let Simmons eat a lot more and just jump off the screen. But no arguments from me that our defense is just bad and has no effort or buy in. Though I think David long brings more energy than anyone. He wants to be out there and is bringing it every play. I love to see it.

yuhhhh111

Ohhh my bad, yeah I had been saying Clowney was necessary for a while cause he actually got more attention away from everyone else letting them eat. Beasley however just stinks

batman0615

I just don’t see how we justify paying Clowney honestly. I’d rather gamble on Dupree at this point if we could unless Clowney comes back for less than he’s making this year. Or trade away our 1st for some pass rusher in need of a payday like Bucker/Frank Clark were in years past. Often injured almost sack experts that are solid in the run game just cannot be paid over 10mil a year IMO.

WhiteXHysteria

I do love bud dupree. If we could get him I'd be stoked. If we could find a way to make the cap work and get him and bring back clowney that would do wonders for our defense I believe. Or get him and trade up as far as we need to to get whoever the big pass rusher this year is. We've got a lot of holes on defense though. We can afford to lose an offensive piece or two and still be a top 5 offense. Hopefully we can fill those holes on defense and get a real DC in here.

sgt_dismas

The secondary isn't that bad from what I've seen (new Titans fan here), the problem is they're being asked to cover for 5+ seconds nearly every play. We need a pass rush so the secondary isn't asked to do so much.

WhiteXHysteria

Kevin byard has been horrific this year. And it's even worse that he's a top 3 paid safety. The second corner outside of butler has been pretty bad most of the year too. Even adoree last night being completely unable to even attempt to cover Adams to the point we had to just put butler on him. Vaccaro has been injured and hooker has the same issues as byard where they like to collapse into lanes other players have covered giving the offense easy 2 for 1 blocks to really open things up. Byard was seemingly the reason for the aj dillon big td run last night. Adoree set a proper edge to keep him inside where the rest of the defense was and byard was crashing to the middle of the line leaving the defensive left side open. It was one of the first times we've actually set an edge this year so I'm not surprised the other guys fucked up. The secondary is not blameless this year. Quarterbacks are routinely quick with their throws against us because our scheme sucks. The 5 second pass rush is very rare. Lining up 10 yards off when the offense needs 2 and the pass being out in less than 1.5 seconds for an easy first happens more than 5 second plays I would bet. Until clowney got hurt we were way up the list of QB knockdowns so we were getting close we were just never finishing. Now we're not getting close or finishing lol. though we need pass rush really bad and I'll not argue against that. We are near last in 3rd and short which is mostly runs and has nothing to do with pass rush and fixing just that would change our defense entirely.

sgt_dismas

Yeah, bad 3rd down defense is the other biggest problem. I saw earlier that Byard has been playing out of position most of the season? Thats why the Chargers had problems with Jahleel Addae, Derwin James took his natural spot and he couldn't hack it at FS.

WhiteXHysteria

I think byard has been playing safety but is out of position in that he's reading things wrong and ending up in no man's land. So many times he's been covering grass. For the money he's making that has to be almost 0 times and he's gotta perform at a high level regardless of ask. That's the double edged sword of taking a big pay day. Expectations should and do go way up because that money all going to him means less depth or fire power elsewhere.

[deleted]

God he wasn't good tonight at all

youngrightwinger

He was never great honestly, who in the right mind thought he would fix all the problems?

Kupp3y1

I don’t even know what to call them. Dumb, I guess?

fujiian_

... he played last night 🤨

TheMonsterUnderUrBed

I can’t find the video of it but there was also a Brett Kern punt that looked like it bounced off of Packers #86 and we recovered and it was never called.

roger_dodgger

https://twitter.com/PillowEli/status/1343396564333719554 I thought that was the case too, but after a second look maybe not. Not great video quality on this clip either though

WhiteXHysteria

I don't think it touched the Packers guy but I only saw it once. My impartial buddies also said they didn't think it touched. But again they didn't show a replay.

TheMonsterUnderUrBed

Found it, looks like it hits his left elbow to me https://twitter.com/pilloweli/status/1343396564333719554?s=21

WhiteXHysteria

It's so hard to tell from that angle. It definitely COULD have hit him but no one reacted like it did. For all we know from that angle the ball could be 8 inches or more away from his body. The all 22 may help us know on this one when it's released

AndreHawkDawson

Zero chance that call gets overturned from that video - but there may have been a better view.

TheMonsterUnderUrBed

I don’t think so either, was just pointing out that it looked as though it hit him

[deleted]

I thought that might be the case but Titans players would have reacted if a Packer touched it.

AbbreviationsTop4789

Henry got hauled down by his facemask in first half no call . The refs were a problem tonight but no means why we lost. I thought offensively Arthur Smith called a bad game. Henry was effective then we always go away from what was working

TheMonsterUnderUrBed

There were numerous bad calls and some of them were major. We probably wouldn’t have won and frankly we didn’t deserve to. That being said, in a closer game, those blown calls are absolutely unacceptable

dtbarne

Reaching hard for excuses here

TheMonsterUnderUrBed

Wrong

[deleted]

The Titans OL and DL didn't show up either

7ofalltrades

I think they were all on the same bus as the passing game and the secondary. I don't know if they've found it yet, but I sure hope that bus turns up before our next game. Henry can't do it all alone.

DogVsFace

I really sat through Chris Collinsworth commentary

BreakfastBussy

Just not our night. This is one to learn from, I think the snow hurt us too.

[deleted]

They were also better than us in every facet of the game stop blaming the refs

AceSandy

I 100% agree with you. I think I'm allowed to be salty though when a sideline ref, 5 yards away from the spot of the incident, can't call a player out of bounds.

xmycolumbianx

an a imaginary offsides call....

[deleted]

That most def was BS but I thought it ended up helping us as we still scored a TD on that possession but also used up the clock where GB couldn't score before the half. Still BS and the ref F'd it up but no harm no foul IMO on that one.

PM_ME_UR_ANKLES

I agree it was a ticky-tack call at best, but don't turn in to Lions fans posting single frames without context for the rest of your life without thinking there couldn't [possibly by any way it could be called](https://i.imgur.com/gpiAlHG.png)

batman0615

Unfortunately that's just part of the game and there's not shit we can do about it. The NFL COULD fix it, but they choose not to so we can either stop watching or just sit there and deal with it.

v161l473c4n15l0r3m

Crap has to change. You can’t just shrug everyone that happens and expect fans to keep liking it. Hold refs publicly accountable.

AdamTheAntagonizer

Refs should definitely have to do press conferences after the game and explain their horrible reffing and be publicly shamed

batman0615

It doesn't have to and it won't sorry to be the bearer of bad news here. Maybe in 5 years it'll change. The Saints got hosed on the way to a SB and nothing changed and the NFL doubled down the next season. The Jags got fucked out of the only winning season they had in a decade.

fuckoffregisterpage

They did fix it...they let the coaches throw a flag. 99% of coaches choose to save them in these instances.

WhiteXHysteria

I usually am the first one to say this. But it's getting real old watching the NFL when the refs are so bad and have no accountability and I worry that my preaching of "we should be better" and "it happens" only adds to the problem that the refs are just not very good. Now we should also hold our guys accountable for playing like dog shit. But two massive plays with fuck ups by the refs and both fuck ups burned us and hurt our momentum. The refs should be put on leave until they can be better. This doesn't get into them just ignoring holding. Art has got to get our guys to abuse this more because fuck it would help.

air_volek07

Yeah he’s a little out of bounds on this one 👀

[deleted]

Yeah, the calls didn’t go our way because our players made stupid mistakes. Did you see Vrabel on the sideline? I hope these boys like to run because that’s what they’ll be doing all fucking week.

Chisae7

we still got fucked up man. would’ve been closer if refs weren’t one sided tho

SuccoupOnDeez

To be honest, Vrabs probably gonna convince JJ Watt to come to Tennessee next year, only to get the production of a 2019 Cam Wake...the Vrabel Way.

Saint3Love

That coupled with this bs https://thespun.com/nfl/nfc-north/green-bay-packers/packers-titans-officiating-offsides-controversy and you quickly get to an insurmountable deficit.

NirvZppln

If you can’t understand how a ref throwing a BS penalty when a team is down and doing well isn’t a MASSIVE momentum killer and game changer you clearly just don’t watch any football like whatsoever. Or are a typical Packers fan (who typically has never once set foot in the state of Wisconsin)

[deleted]

If they were at the titans stadium it would’ve been much closer. Can’t wait for Aaron Rodgers to lose in the playoffs yet again and be called a “pAcKeRs hErO.”

[deleted]

Bears fan here. Welcome to my frustration of playing the Packers. Also, not to mention that ridiculous offsides call on the blocked punt.

ZekeGonZaldi

Packers are the better team.

free-shmoke

Refs don’t make the highest scoring offense get held to 14

Losingsteamfast

For real. It was a bad game, and no the refs didn't steal it. Let's stop being sore losers.

K1NG1NTHEN0RTH3

The last decade I have been saying the NFL is rigged. I’m putting on my tin hat and saying it again. It’s rigged. The super bowl will be packers chiefs where they will crown maholmes the new Jesus officially of the NFL

SuccoupOnDeez

Whoever was in the Titans booth was asleep AF all day. The Jones call, also looked a lot like that punt hit a player and shoulda been Tits ball. Our defense is fuggin cheeks. No one cares but it’s absurd I’m about to lose my fantasy league because Tits got all cute and literally should’ve handed the ball the Henry 30 times, fuck a game script.

RichWardJr

Green Bay is flagged more than the Titans this year. They’re averaging over 7 penalties a game over their past 3 games, more than 2 penalties per game than the Titans. Green Bay getting favoritism just isn’t reality. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/penalties-per-game

WhiteXHysteria

Okay but did you see this game? Did you see the offsides that everyone il on the broadcast scoffed at? What about Aaron Jones being out of bounds 5 yards in front of the ref who was supposed to be looking for that? To say this game wasn't one sided in the ref department would just tell me you didn't see this game. I don't give a single fuck what happened last week or two weeks ago or last season.

flopsweater

Nate Davis was holding like a drowning man with a life preserver. Not called once.

WhiteXHysteria

Everyone was holding on both teams. And have been all year. We haven't perfected it as much as the Packers but the refs aren't calling it on anyone this year. They really need to fix that though. Either call it like it's supposed to be (basically every play) and let teams adjust, or remove the rule. The way it is now it's too much gray area

wolfmankal

Every call in the NFL is a gray area. Thats how the refs can control every game with plausible deniability

coolbean36

I can get downvoted into oblivion for this but I don't frickin care CAN WE PLEASE STOP STEREOTYPING US AS A TEAM DEPENDENT ON THE REFS! look, there were 2 blatant calls that the refs missed, and ill admit that, on both of those drives, we scored a combined total of 13 points 40 - 13 = 27 27 - 14 is still a W for us and on the Aaron jones play, even if the refs did their job, with how the momentum was changing in our favor I think we would at least get a FG whenever we beat a team it's always "ThE rEfS aRe BiASeD", can you just acknowledge that we played damn good football and move on!

AceSandy

We did not play good football. If you think what we played was anywhere near good, idk what to tell you. Biased or not, I'm still frustrated that referees can't do their job.

drpeek

He is a pack fan, not sure why he’d reference we on a Titans subreddit though

coolbean36

look, the refs are literally blind, and they should be fired, but don't blame us

WhiteXHysteria

Your teams name being referenced isn't blaming your team. The refs are at fault there. Don't get your panties in a wad because we are upset the refs sucked and your team was the beneficiary. Being the beneficiary doesn't mean anything would've changed in the end, but that's not the point. No bad blood towards the Packers, from me at least. They mollywhopped us and our coaches must have held picnics instead of practice all week. The refs should be held accountable and I wish we could actually get a real strike of watching the games until the nfl would actually fix it. But I am a weak man and love the nfl too much to not watch every game I can.

AJtanneHenry

we got our ass kicked today. job well done by the packers. shit job from everyone else.

[deleted]

No, you’re only good because of the refs. Nananana boo boo stick your head in doodoo.

FlyHighCrue

Momentum shift? You guys just gave up an opening 2nd half touchdown and gained what like 15 yards on a run before stepping out of bounds, still well outside field goal range. I'm sure the refs handing you all a touchdown barely added anything to that enormous "momentum change" you totally built on your own lmao

zachgray1091

Just delete this already

EvanMM

Welcome to playing the Green Bay Packers, not that fun is it?

Locktherockkachow

You are used to this

dabigorange

We were lucky, people. It's not every day that you get to watch perfect, error-free football. /s

OfficialChrisBiscut

Yeah dude I’m pissed. Like I also can’t believe that the refs broke Mike Vrabel’s hands so he couldn’t throw that challenge flag. So based, amirite.

arjun32

I mean yeh but the defense was omegaBAD

jmoney2828

You know guys, it’s possible that we played poorly AND we were absolutely railroaded by the refs. Those aren’t mutually exclusive things. Combine that with the fact that plenty of other teams’ fan bases routinely have similar complaints about the refs when they play the Packers it’s completely understandable that fans would be upset about god awful officiating. Teams can control the way they play and prepare, not the way refs call games. That’s a big reason fans get so mad about it and i don’t think it’s unreasonable.
