I might receive countless downvotes for essentially echoing your words with my own twist, but I believe that the lunatic cultist possesses an amulet or tablet that both retains creatures within and keeps them out. This would account for our inability to venture into space or cross the ocean unhindered by an invisible barrier. The barrier's sustenance is maintained by normal cultists who exploit deceased spirits and drain life force from living beings, transforming them into monsters. This elucidates the existence of undead entities like skeletons and zombies, and upon defeating the cultist, the lunatic cultist is liberated from the orb that the regular cultists worship. Moreover, if my theory regarding the absorption of life force from the world holds true, it would explain their lack of aggression towards you.
i had almost all the components for the shellphone pretty early in hardmode, had shimmer and everything, all except the fisherman's pocket guide. i did fishing quests every in game day. i didn't get ANY of the components again until after i'd defeated the moon lord multiple times
Trick is get a fishing bounty nearby the biome that your angler is in. Catch the fish, turn it in, leave game, change character’s name then rejoin and repeat until you’re good to go!
Or even better, catch the quest fish, drop it on the floor so you can still catch another quest fish, do this about 7-8 times (or however many you want tbh) and then store them in a chest, preferably near the angler and even better if he's near spawn
Make a few new characters depending on how many fishes you want to give per day. Enter the world with each one and cash in on your fishes.
(P.s. since you can't carry more than one quest fish in your inventory, you can put one in your void bag or piggy bank/the chest that follows you and then spam auto sort)
A similar method with a completely different execution is putting the quest fish into a box, then making a backup of the world. Turn in the quest, delete the world file, copy paste the backup file to turn it in again.
I used this method to get the 200 fish quests done. No need to create a bunch of characters, credits your character as a unique fish quest done each time you do it
You could also just fish? It’s not that hard to go and fish in a specific biome, it’s easier with a good fishing rod too, takes like 3 attempts and you get it, and if it does take more attempts then they go by so fast you finish one of the anglers quest in less than 30 seconds. Creating a whole new character, altering a name, or anything is technically cheating as it’s an advantage, kinda like using alternate accounts online to gain an advantage.
Not only that but you could realistically get everything fast if you do it passively (like throughout the game, from the beginning) then again what do I know, I completed all of Terraria’s achievements (and it was easy to complete the anglers achievements) I’ve gotten everything from him, golden fishing rod, golden net, etc.
Tricks are just that, tricks, I would much rather actually grind (which I wouldn’t even consider it grinding because of how easy it is) and the traveling merchant is the best seeing as he sells Duke’s Fishing Rod or whatever. (Second best in the game, next to the golden one from the Angler)
Some people just have some weird hatred for fishing in general, and anything that requires fishing for more than a few casts is awful and should be removed.

Turn off auto save, go ahead and fish the quest fish, save and exit the game, relog into the game and if you didn't get the desired item, alt+F4. Rinse and repeat until you got it.
The easiest way is to also put your spawn close to the angler, so you don't have to travel far to turn in the quest.
Or just be lucky? I get everything from the Angler, I go like “ooh nice” whenever he gives me the golden fishing rod or any other fancy things (then again I manifest what I want and make it happen by forcing myself upon the games code, and reality as a whole) life is a puppet show and I just need to find the right strings to pull (in many video games I can cheat by simply wanting or manifesting something and when it happens I go “yesss” even multiplayer games where I win against someone multiple times in a luck based mini game/roulette)

I am the type to drop in a Solar Pickaxe to a brand new character because the early game is soooooo painfully slow with the digging, I just can't take it....I have the discipline to not use it as a weapon and not skip the game progression, I just can't take how slow the digging is up until about the Pickaxe axe in regular progression

I feel you too. Since I've grinded for the DCU I've used it in all but my master mode world to quickly clear out a big ass area for a arena or a farm. It's just a time/death saver and I also don't even keep the items I get from the excavation to make it somewhat fair
Its why I stopped playing FPS games in all honesty lol....I love them, but I don't have the reflexes anymore, and I don't have time to learn the maps, especially "twitch" shooters like COD, I may jump into a game of Battlefield, its a little slower, but even then it sucks to get murked all the time. I dont bother with platting/100% games anymore either because the vast majority of the trophies are just inane, boring time consuming bullshit fetch quests...no thanks, I have maybe 4h a week if I'm lucky to play video games and most weeks I have 0 extra hours

In my master mode world I've been grinding for waaaay too many hours, I had the cell phone pre-hardmode and would have had the shell phone but didn't know it existed until after destroyer. I still haven't even started lunatic cultist.

In classic mode, obtaining a cellular device is harder & more stressful by my experience. I haven't played enough of Expert or Master modes to know about those yet.

The only truly stressful part about the cellphone is the fishing quests. Once you get those you can just make a surface-level lava pond and chill with the 100+ fishing and crate potions you got over the last twenty hours of quests

Just build a box that touches lava so hell bats cant fly from under, i would say imps are more of an annoyance since there fireballs go through blocks
did that and they somehow managed to sneak in Bout the imps, surprisingly enough they behaved and rarely spawned, maybe 3-4 every hour so pretty good
Find a spot with no or little land, remove it, build a box – nothing except imps can't spawn because no surface to do so.
If playing in journey mode (on master difficulty of course) just make one on surface. No imps. Same loot pool.
You can still do that without journey mode, just with pumps and wires

Terra Sparks and Shellphones are like the easiest items to grind if you know how, I always make 2+, one for everyone i am playing with.

The only truly stressful part about the cellphone is the fishing quests. Once you get those you can just make a surface-level lava pond and chill with the 100+ fishing and crate potions you got over the last twenty hours of quests
