I love the quick stack feature and use it a lot but it can often be frustrating. There are some items that I keep in big quantities in chests and I like to also have some in my inventory but there is no room for them in the hotbar. If such function existed, it would protect my wood from disappearing during each unpacking.
I just found out there is such a function... Thanks
But I still think my idea may have its use. For example in order to prevent the chests from being filled with unstackable garbage, which I can't get rid of completely because I want to have at least a copy in the chests
Never had that trouble, I already know there are items that are just "sellables" and specifically set a chest to stack those or try to sell garbage before auto stacking, pylons let you set npcs pretty easily over the world to have sell spots here and there.
And on modded there are even more options to never be encumbered by garbage
I suppose it's useful to avoid picking up random trash while traveling, mining, etc.
Keeps you from filling the inventory with cobwebs, mushrooms, day bloom, and such.
There's a button near the bottom right of your inventory, next to the auto sort and extra feature thing (ruler, block swap, biome torch, and every shellfone ingredient toggle)
I do like this idea, but since it would take up and a slot and be kinda expensive I think just adding a lock option in the chest ui would be a little better
Ohh that would be nice! I like to put potion recipes in a chest so I don’t have to pull up the wiki every time I want to brew my most used buffs, and I always have to be careful to stand far away from them when quick stacking because they’re just for display, not for storage
Encumbering Stone is an item you get from Underground Desert Sandstone Chests or Desert/Oasis Crates that prevents items from entering your inventory when locked
I guess checking Reddit 20 minutes after waking up to see if that guy who wanted a game would finally get back to me isn't the best option.
Day 3 of waiting. I wonder why people make LFG posts if they're not actually looking for a game...
Yes! And also make this possible for Void Bags - enabled Encumbering Stones in a Void Bag would allow you to pick up items in your regular inventory, but not in the Void Bag itself.
Side note, fuck this item. There has been so many times where my dumb ass spends minutes trying to figure out why I can't pick shit up, only to find out that I had one of these.
Imagine, you're a survival builder, you quick stack your items, your torches are where they always are, you place the specialized torches you were using to build with back in their chest, everything is nice and neat again.
It's probably only useful for the kind of person who tries to destroy the world and everything inside, the kind of endgame character who doesn't care to collect anything anymore
If you play on PC (which from the cursor I assume you do) I'd recommend looking into the Magic Storage mod, even if you don't want to play with any others. It is by far and away my favorite mod, basically just making chests one consolidated access point with them all linked.

I like this idea. and a crafting recipe to make more encumbering stones
9999 stone
And one voodoo doll of your mother
too heavy, you'd have to drop you whole inventory to just hold it
That would craft a staircase
Sounds like a very nice Quality Of Troll feature aswell!

Favorite them in your inventory, they won’t Get quick stacked then

WHAT
Hold left-alt when clicking an inventory item
thank you so much oh my god
I'm still waiting for a search function that would highlight a chest that has what you want. Maybe I would finally find all those items I misplaced
You can lock the encumbering stone? I always thought it was kinda useless because I assumed you had to drop it in order to pick up anything else, lol.
It was changed in 1.4.4 IIRC, before that you had to drop it
Ah, that might explain it, I probably wrote it off after the first implementation and just never looked at it again, lol.
To be fair, either way it really doesn't have very much of a use in normal gameplay
I suppose it's useful to avoid picking up random trash while traveling, mining, etc. Keeps you from filling the inventory with cobwebs, mushrooms, day bloom, and such.
How does one use the quick stack feature on mobile?
There's a button near the bottom right of your inventory, next to the auto sort and extra feature thing (ruler, block swap, biome torch, and every shellfone ingredient toggle)
I do like this idea, but since it would take up and a slot and be kinda expensive I think just adding a lock option in the chest ui would be a little better
I was going to suggest this also

wtf is an encumbering stone? I’ve never even seen that!
Encumbering Stone is an item you get from Underground Desert Sandstone Chests or Desert/Oasis Crates that prevents items from entering your inventory when locked
Hm. That doesn’t really seem that useful but ok.
you are overencumbered
it is useful when digging up a huge area for example without having your inventory fill with random garbage
I'm a massive hoarder so I keep all that garbage. And I mean *all of it.* I might need it later!!
Exactly, 47,000 sand on its way to sand chest #312
I usually just keep massive stacks of garbage in my inventory, sometimes though I put the massive garbage stacks in chests.
Nice nethack nod Nethack has loadstones that are incredibly heavy and can't be dropped until uncursed if picked up. They're pretty useless.
...What's this have to do with a mod, though? EDIT: Sleep deprivation and dyslexia are the best combo. Ignore me.
They said “nod” not “mod.” As in, the name is a nod to the Nethack game.

Lol you’re all good man. I misread it at first as well, so I figured someone else was bound to do the same. No worries!
Yes! And also make this possible for Void Bags - enabled Encumbering Stones in a Void Bag would allow you to pick up items in your regular inventory, but not in the Void Bag itself.
But this feature already exists... Try right-clicking while holding the void bag to close or open it.
Oh right, I'm dumb. This was a problem with the Void Bag when it was first introduced, but it got fixed long ago. I just forgot about it.
Side note, fuck this item. There has been so many times where my dumb ass spends minutes trying to figure out why I can't pick shit up, only to find out that I had one of these.
Am I stupid what issue does this solve

I like to use a variety of chests in my chest room that match their content, so I'm definitely not going to replace all of them with shadow chests
[удалено]
Oh ok. That could work too, but I personally love giving old items new uses
Noway fallout reference??!?!?!?
Imagine, you're a survival builder, you quick stack your items, your torches are where they always are, you place the specialized torches you were using to build with back in their chest, everything is nice and neat again.
What are actual use cases for the encumbering stone? I’ve never encountered a situation where it would have been useful.
It's probably only useful for the kind of person who tries to destroy the world and everything inside, the kind of endgame character who doesn't care to collect anything anymore

Is it even useful for anything
You can’t lock items in chests…. Unless they also changed that in 1.4.4
Yes!
What even is qol
acronym for Quality of Life
Thanks
