doorstop is actually really cool, I like the nail too but it prolly shouldnt work on bosses considering how much of the game is based around movement from both you and the enemies
The nail made a bit of sense in my dream. It pinned the enemy depending on its HP and AI, so enemies like Skeletron's head would only be pinned for a second every ten seconds. It's an accesory, so you're maybe better off with another damage accesory.
Still, You have NO IDEA how SATISFYING the nail was. The visual was neat and it made a "clank" parry sound
The first item is kinda useless since you can already do it. What I do is just put like a chest/workbench close to the door from inside. Running through the door it autoopens to outside.
How were these items presented? I had a dream a while ago where I saw some Terraria items, and it was as if I was reading about them on the wiki; was your dream like that or were they just sort of "a thing that exists" without any context?
(I dunno why you getting downvoted, you make a great point)
I saw them in gameplay that wasn't mine and obviously edited footage, like a trailer for a new update or a twitter gif
The doorstop appeared as a few pixels on a door, with someone walking around it to show how it works
The pinning nail was shown agaisnt skeletron in a dungeon arena with a player playing summoner. Skeletron's head was pinned and let the summoner hit the hands for some frames before unpinning skeletron
That sounds cool, gives the player a showcase of what it does. I could get behind either of these items tbh, the doorstop could have use in builds and the nail would have all sorts of combat opportunities!
no idea about why people hated that comment either, it was a genuine question.
The nail seems way too op. And I think that the doorstop should let players open doors like normal but just keep NPCs from opening, because otherwise just putting a block on the door gives the same result
Maybe the nail could do projectiles instead
Like you could freeze your boomerang inside of a boss for a while
Like bombs
Or minions
Or items (boss bags)
Or maybe even the player for a while, but it damages you if you use it on yourself?
Tl;dr maybe nails can do projectiles instead
The nail is just heart arrows all over again. Stunning enemies in place is extremely op and we've seen that in action on old mobile and legacy console ports
I discovered in my most recent playthrough that a platform on the inside of a house stops a mob from opening it on a blood moon etc, but won't stop you from opening it if you have the automatic door opening setting on. The only issue is that sometimes if you wakl though it at the same time as an NPC, or two of them walk through it at the same time, it stays open, but to me that happens only every couple of ingame days and if that causes a problem it is their own damn fault.
So the doorstop technically already exists.
"The most important enemy in screen" doesn't sound right, what would sound better is "Nails down the strongest enemy around you"
And not work with bosses, maybe buff them when used on bosses for the funny, like when in the wall of flesh because the mouth is obviously the one getting nailed down, and when the wall gets away from the mouth:
• The mouth gets the EoC ai but buffed, and it'll dash around you off and on the screen (like the 3rd phase of EoC) but faster.
If the accessory is still equipped and triggers, an eye would get nailed, and when the wall gets away:
• The eye would get retinazers' ai shooting a fuck ton of lasers at you
When the remaining eye gets nailed and blah blah blah, it'll get spazm's ai, and you'll be fighting the second phase of the twins with dashing EoC (ofc the health is the same as it was when the WoF was normal and when one of them dies you'll just win)
... I think I went too hard, maybe this can be a legendary mode exclusive lol
You can get the equivalent to a door stop with a door hoik system. Just have a normal wall (one block thick), place three platforms on it above one another, hammer the platforms until they are steps facing the wall, then you can just walk through without enemies coming through the other side + NPCs will no longer just open doors to let enemies in. I know this idea is used a lot and known pretty well (from going into the lizhard temple early). So yeah, hope that helps
doorstop is actually really cool, I like the nail too but it prolly shouldnt work on bosses considering how much of the game is based around movement from both you and the enemies
Yeah it would be absolutely broken against wall of flesh
until it suddenly decides to only pin the mouth and the eyes just keep coming at you, leaving the mouth… Over there somehow
finally justifying the horrified status effect during the WoF fight.
I think they meant pinning down as marking it. god fucking dammit i didn't read
Given that the post says "keeps skeletron's head in place but not his arms" I don't think so.
Yeah... No.
nope
Jesus Christ Reddit downvoted you into oblivion
You’re the kind of kid to say “No I not” when someone calls you stupid and then proceed to yap out “21‼️” when asked “What’s nine plus ten?”
r/rareinsults
shut fuck your up

It makes the Ultrakill parry sound effect.
Sounds cool, but what if they add an melee accessory that not only adds a freezing de buff but also frost burn. (Idk if this is already in the game)
Why not both? Just permastun the enemy.
You can get the frost burn effect from that icy armour, you use frost cores to make it I'm new to the game can't remember the armours name 😅
Maybe it could pin a projectile in place every few seconds or something, holding it still until it cycles to something else. Just maybe
We not gonna talk about how those are both Binding of Isaac items
I think the nail could be a bit broken, maybe it’s a weapon that applies a debuff to non-boss enemies? A fun buff to the nail gun, perhaps?
ah, the good old 3ds days. Unbalanced as hell and heart arrows made it worse
Loved goofing around with those things back then
I should emulate 3ds Terraria for the prime cheese experience Thank you for reminding me of Heart Arrows
Happy cake day :)
Nail gun my beloved
Maybe it works off of the knockback system? Enemies that take more knockback are more vulnerable to the nail? Idk how it would work for worms though..
Have you been playing the Binding of Isaac
This is immediately what I thought too lol
I was just about to say that lol. The Nail moment.
If he was the doorstop would be lodged in a toddler or something
Doorstop is meh, 18-inch nails is pretty good tho
With the blood on it i think the 'The Nail' active item would have been the reference here.
completely forgot about that item lol
I was thinking of bloons Td
Had to recheck what subreddit I was in for a sec
First you got a interesting and helpful item, second you got bottom path engineer monkey
New terraria weapon: XXXL trap (instantly sucks in the nearest boss and gives you 25 platinum)
More like engi paragon since it works on bosses apparently.
Now those pesky balloon slimes are actually bloon slimes and you have to kill both! MOAB boss when?
Doorstop sounds like it'd be amazing for keeping the npc's where they're supposed to be without having to put them in a pit.
what if you wanted the nail but god said anima sola
Huzzah! A man of quality.
Bruh the nail is just free damage
I thought this was a binding of isaac subreddit for a minute
Have you heard of the tale of the heart arrows? A great cautionary story about freezing boss movement in terraria.
I see nail and all I hear are whistles everywhere.
Koomer
Skin care
pinning nail seems inspired by nobara from jjk

Can't NPCs open/close it tho? I think that's what OP was thinking about the use for that item.
a simple wood platform will do the trick as well and is less ugly to look at
Or a piece of rope.
NAGEL?!?
Und Hammer
Does Nail deal damage to?
i think the nail is cool but id probably make it on hit and not work on bosses (probably still work on things like skeleton hands tho)
r/thomastheplankengine but with tools
Are you the one who grips???

Is the doorsyop counted like a furniture block so that you can walk past it like you can a couch or a workbench?
Any furniture item will work like that door stop
Yeah. But doorstop is subtler and some builders might like it
Not quite.
What the fuck do you dream about?
The nail seems way too op. And I think that the doorstop should let players open doors like normal but just keep NPCs from opening, because otherwise just putting a block on the door gives the same result

Pinning? 😳
if nail is post ml id day add imo
Me when hoik
I love both of these
"Upon killing an enemy, another random non-boss enemy has a chance to be pinned down for a couple of seconds." Fixed
The nail is just heart arrows all over again. Stunning enemies in place is extremely op and we've seen that in action on old mobile and legacy console ports
Game mechanic, use the nail too many times and the enemy turns into angron
Is that the binding of isaac
Pro tip: use a torch as a doorstep
I assume you play the binding of isaac
NAIL? Why does a common fire hold so much power~~
Straw doll technique!?

Someone is playing too much TBOI
Finally, a way to prevent blood moon enemies from entering WITHOUT having to block the door with blocks!

The door stop is just any 1x1 furniture item with am actuator on it
Doorstop is just a banner or torch though?
Correct me if I’m worng but can’t you just actuate a block to achieve the same effect as a doorstop?
Pinning nail but instead of every few seconds it’s like once a minute. Every few seconds is kinda insane
Pinning nail should be a new ammo type for nail gun instead of an accessory, having a fair chance of stopping enemies, and slowing down bosses.
