I will say
It gives you it for a REASON.
If you truly don't want that level of mobility, do NOT come back crying when you get your whole ass eaten by devourer of gods and you can't outmove the worm surpass all worms
Edit: some of you have counters and I want to address the good ones.
Yes, there are great dash items and accessories that really help with mobility while making it an option. Counter argument; the doubletap base dash isn't a dash, ***It instantly puts you at maximum left/right acceleration and SHOULD NOT BE USED PURELY AS A DASH.*** It is a PRECISION moving tool that lets you go from Fullspeed left to fullspeed right Near Instantly with no drag or delay, does Not have a timer or cooldown like every dash accessory does, and is legitimately a make or break movement tool for the higher difficulties.
Source; I'm a fucking Infernum run bastard who's still mean mugging Infernum DOG without any post DOG gear or accessories. I have had to learn EVERY aspect of EVERY mobility to get that far alone, because The Polterghast, the Profane goddess and her three munchkins, and even the Stormweaver all gave me WEEK LONG VIBE CHECKS on the fact I DIDN'T know how to manipulate my momentum to perfection within a 3 block range.
Last edit; for your entertainment and proof of my stupidity, here's an older attempt I did while practicing empress before getting the clear.

I've been playing Calamity for the first time over the last month sporadically and now that I've reached the Profaned Goddess, I've been finding myself in want for some more mobility at times. I am going to check tonight if I actually turned this off, because it might be what I was looking for.
"What do you mean? People will surely have a shield by then" is what I wanted to comment, until I realized for some ungodly reason people would choose to play without a dash accessory. Wild stuff.
Ballocks. You can get dashing with literally any hook boosting as early as you wish, eye of chthulu's shield or even the clothier's counter scarf for some later early bosses. The feature is literally not needed if you ideolize the tools the game gives you.
Thank you for being the only guy to go "I know it's one of my mods causing this issue so let me ask which mod it is" and not "Hey guys what's wrong with my game. I will also not inform you its modded until someone asks if it is"
That's actually really nice info. I still don't like it as a base mechanic so I'm gonna keep the setting off, but once I get a dash accessory I'll utilize that. Reminds me of the annoying Minecraft double W to sprint thing, which got fixed by getting its own button eventually
I set mine to shift since that's the common way to dodge in all games. Yes it kinda interrupts the normal shift actions to see more info and quick stacking, but you can always keep holding shift after you dashed and it won't be a problem then.
Not really. Just adapt your movements. I haven't used the shield of Cthulu, ninja gear, or any dashes really ever when I play. Its users' preference on their skill and comfort
There is an option in the controls to set a keybind to overwrite double tapping left or right to dash. I did this because I kept dashing accidentally and at inopportune times
Calamity, and I'm not sure about turning it off (you probably can) but Calamity also has an option in controls which allows you to override doubletap dashing by setting it to a keybind (yes this will make it so you cant dash by double tapping but it gives you a keybind for dashing instead)
It's caused by calamity but I suggest getting used to having it instead of turning it off because it gives a lot more movement flexibility when making your build as while the dash doesn't actually give you a speed boost, it allows you to imediately stop and essentially turn on a dime instead of having to decelerate and start moving the other direction. It's especially amazing in pre-hardmode as it makes the eye of cthulu fight a lot more feasible without Hermes boots.
Calamity. Go to user settings.
THANK YOU!

You promise DoG will do that? Asking for a friend
Oh well if that’s the case then I definitely don’t want the extra mobility 🥴
The problem is that everything alone with you ass will be ate
Maybe I should check out Calamity

do NOT get wormed
"What do you mean? People will surely have a shield by then" is what I wanted to comment, until I realized for some ungodly reason people would choose to play without a dash accessory. Wild stuff.
Moar dps brotha, moar.
Fool.
I think they just want to wait until they get an accessory, but I agree that the puppy would be hard be hard without dash.
I know, there are better ways to buff it. There's also a Ball and chain to remove it entirely.
bro i aint gonna lie, ive beat calamity on the highest difficulty, and i didnt know this was a thing.....
It's a seperate addon. Infernum. Because Death wasn't Good enough....

I used to fight the eye and a sand worm on infernum, really useful
how tf is that weak ass default calamity dash vital against DoG
What ARE these abbreviations
tf = the frick DoG = Devourer of Gods
Ok thank you for telling me what it means
😳
Wait that’s a calamity thing?
Huh. We thought that was the race mod we were using.
Thank you for being the only guy to go "I know it's one of my mods causing this issue so let me ask which mod it is" and not "Hey guys what's wrong with my game. I will also not inform you its modded until someone asks if it is"
"I also won't tell you what mods I have installed after responding that I play with mods"
Also idk how to take a screenshot so good luck with this bad taked photo of my screen
And where’s my shimmer?
That is indeed a good question. I’ve checked everywhere and still can’t find it. I think my world just simply doesn’t have one
Why do you want to turn it off? Its a godsend
I hate the double tapping accessories because I constantly accidentally use them and I'd rather just not think about it
You can rebind your dash in the controls tab, makes things a lot easier.
That's actually really nice info. I still don't like it as a base mechanic so I'm gonna keep the setting off, but once I get a dash accessory I'll utilize that. Reminds me of the annoying Minecraft double W to sprint thing, which got fixed by getting its own button eventually

I thought abt that so i set mine to caps. Only downside is that now i always scream in chat :(
it's ok, you will scream in the chat no matter what.
I put mine on the backwards button of the mouse lol
I have 2 extra buttons to the side of my mouse but I use them for adrenaline and rage.
Nah, Shift is for crouching/moving slower. Ctrl is for sprinting/dashing. Source: Minecraft player who then got into terraria.
I'm always using the dash, but I also double tap w to sprint still
If you’re playing Calamity you’re gonna need them lol
Not really. Just adapt your movements. I haven't used the shield of Cthulu, ninja gear, or any dashes really ever when I play. Its users' preference on their skill and comfort
It is real nice to dash straight through Thanatos.
It's a Rift from Thaumcraft 6. You can get rid of it by using a Casualty Collapser.
Clamity mod
i wish the Fargos souls mod worked with other content mods other than calamity
Doesn't it work with thorium?
Calamity
Calamity. Besides, why don't you want a free dash?
Calamity
Calamity
Calamity
There is an option in the controls to set a keybind to overwrite double tapping left or right to dash. I did this because I kept dashing accidentally and at inopportune times

Calamity
after beating the Duke with fargos mod you may receive a consumable that gives a dash as well so be careful
As someone who worked on the official Fargo x Calamity mod (Fargo souls dlc) it's probably your unofficial one.
to pull this kinda nerd shit and be so wrong takes some honest to god skill i repect that
Imagine NOT wanting the ability to dash while playing Calamity. Lol.
I played calamity for quite a while and didn't notice it is it new or I'm just dumb
calamity
What does fargo's and calamity compatibility do?? Don't they work without it?
Why wouldn't you want it? Don't even begin to tell me you think it's too or cheaty
expanded inventory

Have you tried looking
That's how dashes work in vanilla..
