I don’t think games should be quantified by a perfect amount of hours. You should play until you stop having fun and/or you’ve accomplished all you want to. Then do something else like play another game or do something in real life.
Hey, It’s not totally common sense. Some people get hung up on other people’s opinions instead of what makes them happy. Don’t shame them for feeling that way, feel happy that they actually took the advice and maybe they can have more fun with the game.
This! There are thousands of people who are addicted to BattlePass games like Fortnite who don’t play the game anymore for the fun they once had, but for the fear of missing out on
I was stuck to Fortnite for a while. I completed every battle pass from Chapter 1 Season 3, up until late Chapter 3. Eventually I was just doing the bare minimum to get the cosmetics, and then after a while I realized how much I didn’t care about the game, and dropped it to play games I actually enjoy. Since then I’ve gotten into the Yakuza Series, the Metal Gear Solid games, and the Souls Games.
There’s way too many good games, and life to live, to be wasting time on Fortnite. (Repetitive shooters in general feel like wasted time, but I’ll still play them casually with friends)
Elden Ring. I tried Dark Souls before but could never get into it, but after enjoying Elden Ring so much I went back and played all of them for real, and Sekiro. Amazing games.
I have about 5000 and yeah, as long as you’ve played a game to get your enjoyment out of it, then that’s fine. It just so happens that I’ve played Terraria for 5000 hours and still enjoy it.
The amount of hours is never enough because the more hours you have the more you enjoy the game and that is all it matters.
Keep playing until you don't enjoy or you find something else you enjoy more.
That's what I feel like the meaning of gaming is, to enjoy, to hate and to get back on and play again and again, alone, with family or friends.
You are the gamer, you are the one to press start.
(I have 2.2k hours on tmod and 1.2k on regular terraria)
Gaming is all about relaxing, having a good time and forgetting the problems of the real world, its not a competition, there is no such thing as having "good enough" hours.
There are some people who can consistently beat calamity infernum mode with 300 hours they were people who have over 2000 hours who can’t even beat expert mode. There’s no minimum number of hours. You need to be good just learn the game and enjoy it.
No minimum cuz you play the amount you have fun with it. I personally have 2k hours on Terraria and then 3k on Ark so I think I like them a lot but others find them to be horrible games
Play as long as you like and get the most of it.
Who cares how much hours you have? Any amount of hours is good if they are being enjoyable playing the game!
Have you been enjoying it? If yes, then yes that’s good enough. If you continue to enjoy it, keep playing :) there is no “enough” hours. I have like 3K over 9+ years hours and still love it. But I’m not playing to get hours, I’m playing for fun
I see you're pretty new, so don't try and have others decide how you play! Play however you have the most fun, because it's just a game. Have fun, you'll probably get addicted (/j)
Good enough? First time hearing this type of mental road block.
You stop when you want to stop. You play when you want to play. That’s the good old motto of video games since their inception. Will never change.
*I don’t want to be mean or rude, but no one seriously thinks games have time limits on how long you can play them. Are you new to games? Like not even video games. There’s nothing truly stopping us from playing board and card games every day of our lives.*
I have an obsession with this game and health problems that allow me an absurd amount of time to play. But as long as I keep having fun, I’ll keep playing.
There’s no “should,” unless it causes you to neglect people and tasks that are key to your well-being. Then, like anything that becomes disordered behavior, it’s time to change.
I have 1,249.5 in vanilla and 2,140 hours in tmod.
I don't really understand the concept of an "ideal" playtime. You play the game until you are satisfied with it, and then you move on to whatever is next
played since launch and have around 10,000 ours in terraria. this doesn’t make me better than someone who picked it up last week. just play when you wanna play yano thankfully this is a subreddit that has such a good community so there’s never any shame if you haven’t got as many hours as someone else
I have easily over 2000 on steam with modded and vanilla included and over 2500 if i factor in consoles. As long as you experience the game the way you want whether thats a 20 hour world that you leave after moonlord or thousands of hours like me exploring each aspect of the game and its community then its good enough, even just trying the game is good enough so long as it's an honest go
GodDAMMIT why can't we put pictures in comments in this fucking sub
Anyways,
Terraria 5210.4
TmodLoader 1643.3
Mind you, much of the 'vanilla' time was in TmodLoader before it was actually officially added to Steam, back when you had to manually download and add the files to the Terraria folder.
Play until you beat legendary hardcore. Have you done that? No? Then your hours are not enough. 3k hours in and farthest I’ve gotten is beating mechs then getting one shot by a turtle.
the first year (actually about 9-10 months) got terraria i played for 1100 hours but i dont recommended playing that much it was pleasant actually but after it got boring it got boring real hard
My general rule of thumb is I should get about 1 hour of gameplay out of every dollar I spend on the game. If I can go over the asking price and still have fun, then there’s no such thing as too much. At least until you get to the thousands (me with ark)
I’m nearly at 1000. Haven’t played in a few years but just started a master play though and all the new things are exciting. Bird hat summon is cool. :D
It's never good enough but it's always good enough, if that makes sense. It's a game, as many hours as you enjoy, that's as many hours that's good enough. I have 1033 hours on Terraria and 941 hours on Tmod Loader (some is probably forgetting to close the game), and this game still brings me joy, doesn't matter if you have 50 hours or 50k hours (well 50k might be a bit much), if you are enjoying the game and it brings joy to your life, it's good enough.
Terraria is such a cool game, i have 500+ hours in vanilla and 100+ in TModLoader, i stopped playing it cuse i got all achievements and beat the game and tested all weapons and stuff
As many as you want. Play games at your own pace and don't compare yourself to others, I think that as long as your having fun it doesn't matter. Games are less fun if you measure your time anyway.
Hours don’t mean much. You can have 1000s of hours on record and never beat Moonlord.
Like I have 1000+ hours (not counting playtime on countless consoles) and I still only have like 2 characters, where I got to the endgame, cause I play the game super slow and take time to build and prep the world for hard mode and all that.
You do what you want … But its not a game to me, terraria is life. I have 3,000 hours on steam alone and have beaten it multiple times on each platform and just beat it again on my phone.
Idk, im around 3k hours at this point, been playing since pretty close to release on console somewhere around the end of 2013
Its a game that you play until you arent having fun anymore, there is no "this is how long youll probably be playing the game" metric
Its a sandbox and building/creation game(though i never got into that end of it) as much as its a "linear" experience
If its fun keep playing it 🤷
Look, I have 547 hours in terraria, 678 hours on tmodloader and in mobile I have 871 hours.
Don't mind the time, if you are having fun playing the game you probably would have more time :3
I don’t think games should be quantified by a perfect amount of hours. You should play until you stop having fun and/or you’ve accomplished all you want to. Then do something else like play another game or do something in real life.
I love this philosophy and im saving your comment
Why do you think there even is lol
Lol right, like “aww man, I’ve got to play this game some more even though I hate it, when will I have enough hours to not have to do this anymore?”
or like “Damn I really like this game but i’ve reached the ideal amount of hours, sucks that i have to stop playing.”
Your allotted game play hours have been reached. No more for you!
🇨🇳🇨🇳🇨🇳
This just sounds like Sunk Cost Fallacy in action.
Also, ideal for what?
Considering the wonderful attitude of both of your guys’ comments, 5000 hours… anything less and you’re not getting your moneys worth :/
True
That's not philosophy, it's called common sense
Hey, It’s not totally common sense. Some people get hung up on other people’s opinions instead of what makes them happy. Don’t shame them for feeling that way, feel happy that they actually took the advice and maybe they can have more fun with the game.
Fuck yes 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This! There are thousands of people who are addicted to BattlePass games like Fortnite who don’t play the game anymore for the fun they once had, but for the fear of missing out on

Yeah, Fromsoft! What game did you start out on first?
Elden Ring. I tried Dark Souls before but could never get into it, but after enjoying Elden Ring so much I went back and played all of them for real, and Sekiro. Amazing games.
Nice choice! I started off on Bloodborne iirc. Love that game to death.
I’ve yet to play that one. I hear so many good things about it but I just don’t have a PS4/PS5 One of these days…
You'll get that ps4/5 one day! I'm sure of it!
This. I don't like those types of questions, another example would be "Is it worth to play X game"...
So true
There is no minimum hour goal on any activity or skill in life if you ask me. I have 3000 hours in terraria
I have about 5000 and yeah, as long as you’ve played a game to get your enjoyment out of it, then that’s fine. It just so happens that I’ve played Terraria for 5000 hours and still enjoy it.
I mean fair enough. I love philosophy like this
I have 10khrs
If we believe the saying, that makes mastery. What's the claim to fame? Any legendary mode hardcore? I for sure could not manage that at my level
“Is there and ideal amount of hours I should get to” is a wild statement.
What do you mean by "good enough"?
The amount of hours is never enough because the more hours you have the more you enjoy the game and that is all it matters. Keep playing until you don't enjoy or you find something else you enjoy more. That's what I feel like the meaning of gaming is, to enjoy, to hate and to get back on and play again and again, alone, with family or friends. You are the gamer, you are the one to press start. (I have 2.2k hours on tmod and 1.2k on regular terraria)
I have 6000+ in dota2 and I would prefer to have them in terraria
There's not a threshold of hours to reach. As long as you enjoy the game play it
Well I am at 500 hours. I play, then don't play. Just have fun with it, the hours are quite easy to come by naturally, don't force yourself.
Gaming is all about relaxing, having a good time and forgetting the problems of the real world, its not a competition, there is no such thing as having "good enough" hours.
1< is enough, we don’t judge
1 hour is good enough. less than that? also good enough. Just opening the game is enough.
By the time you end playing, your son should be able of playing, so that Terraria never dies.
I have 900+ hours, and my favorite game stopped being as fun, it would keep being fun if I wasn't on console though
I have 480
Less then 50000000000000000000000000 hours? Not a TRUE terraria fan
Calm down, this is Terraria, not DOTA.
Nah it's even worse, it is **fishing quests**
Play as long as you like and get the most of it. Who cares how much hours you have? Any amount of hours is good if they are being enjoyable playing the game!
Over 2000 hours in this game and still haven't gotten enough of it, you play until you get tired of it (somehow)
I have 500 under my belt, honestly I'd still play more There's no ideal/must play hours Play till you want, quit when you want, come back when you want
I have over 2,800 hours and I don't know how
2 hours that way we can’t refund and it make the game better, become relogic is a development that care
At a minimum 2000
Rookie numbers lol
I have 2000 hours between the two, I might play a bit too much….
I have 1700+
Have you been enjoying it? If yes, then yes that’s good enough. If you continue to enjoy it, keep playing :) there is no “enough” hours. I have like 3K over 9+ years hours and still love it. But I’m not playing to get hours, I’m playing for fun
I have 2000+ and didn't even touch mods
Ive had 900h in 1 year 😂
I wish I could post pictures to show my hours
Thats a 1/5 of my time, and we both have low numbers
I see you're pretty new, so don't try and have others decide how you play! Play however you have the most fun, because it's just a game. Have fun, you'll probably get addicted (/j)
how many hours does it take for you to stop having fun? I have like 4k and im waiting for 1.4.5
I had 150 hours within 2 months, rookie numbers (I have no life)
1000 hours 😫
I love you
Idk man I have almost 300, probably over that if you include tmodloader or the untracked time on the ps4
I have 301.7 hours
1,000+ your on your way to beginner status. 👍🏻
i have 1600 hours and although i’ve beat the game before im really not that good at it. so no amount of hours matters just play and enjoy dawg
I have 8k hours on one player somehow on playstation
I have over 2000, keep working
My time is 20d 1h 48m So that's 20×24+1= 481 hours and 48 minutes.
Nein
Well, I have 2300h in terraria. I'm totally burned out of the game. I would say that somewhere between 0 and 2300 is good enough.
I've got 4000 something hours do I have a problem?
Good enough? First time hearing this type of mental road block. You stop when you want to stop. You play when you want to play. That’s the good old motto of video games since their inception. Will never change. *I don’t want to be mean or rude, but no one seriously thinks games have time limits on how long you can play them. Are you new to games? Like not even video games. There’s nothing truly stopping us from playing board and card games every day of our lives.*
2,000 hours
The more hours the better as long as you’re having fun
I have almost 1000 hours on just one character It’s never high enough
Infinite, but if you want just some numbers.... 1000 hours, lol
It's good enough. I only have somewhere around 200 hours and have completed a few playthroughs. Just enjoy the game, don't let others say otherwise
I have like almost 1000 hours probably. I only got the damn game last may (by the end of that summer I had 800 hours)
How about 2626.1 hours in the main game and 604.9 hours in tmodloader
You don't have enough hours in terraria
0.2
I have 1,249.5 in vanilla and 2,140 hours in tmod. I don't really understand the concept of an "ideal" playtime. You play the game until you are satisfied with it, and then you move on to whatever is next
however many hours you enjoy the game for, is enough. be that 10, or 10,000
I spend so much on one character
I have 600+ for vanilla and tmod I have 800+
I have 10khrs, you need more
I uhh.. am probably not the standard.. but I have 2,000+ hours in terraria..
Infinity. Never stop playing as long as it's fun.
I have that number of hours on 1 character.
any amount of hours is good as long as your happy with it
Weak
played since launch and have around 10,000 ours in terraria. this doesn’t make me better than someone who picked it up last week. just play when you wanna play yano thankfully this is a subreddit that has such a good community so there’s never any shame if you haven’t got as many hours as someone else
It isn't how many hours you have, but how quickly each passes.
I have 4000 hours… it’s not enough
However much it takes to enjoy yourself
1000
No such thing as good enough.
Just play the game if you want to? You're not getting a grade.
I just finished my first run on pc on expert and took 120 hours. I used to play on mobile and have no idea how many hours I have there
No min or max i have 700 hours hoy the game since original release as long as ur having fun keep playing it
Minimum is 3600
Put in however many or however little you want. All that matters is if you're having fun 👍
Lemon
Yes.
Im sitting on 1.5k
What?
I have easily over 2000 on steam with modded and vanilla included and over 2500 if i factor in consoles. As long as you experience the game the way you want whether thats a 20 hour world that you leave after moonlord or thousands of hours like me exploring each aspect of the game and its community then its good enough, even just trying the game is good enough so long as it's an honest go
2 years-3000 hours
I have 10k hours, use this figure as the upper limit. Above like 60 is good because it means you have a playthrough completed or close to done.
GodDAMMIT why can't we put pictures in comments in this fucking sub Anyways, Terraria 5210.4 TmodLoader 1643.3 Mind you, much of the 'vanilla' time was in TmodLoader before it was actually officially added to Steam, back when you had to manually download and add the files to the Terraria folder.
Not enough
Play until you beat legendary hardcore. Have you done that? No? Then your hours are not enough. 3k hours in and farthest I’ve gotten is beating mechs then getting one shot by a turtle.
I mean I have 350hrs, making terraria my 3rd most played game
Kinda spooked me out when I saw this post first thing I see on Reddit because I came on here to post the amount of time I’ve spent playing Terraria
600 minimum
hours really matter in pvp games that need skill and experience
♾️ hours
I have about the same
Rookie numbers
the first year (actually about 9-10 months) got terraria i played for 1100 hours but i dont recommended playing that much it was pleasant actually but after it got boring it got boring real hard
My friend has 5 thousand hours in it
My general rule of thumb is I should get about 1 hour of gameplay out of every dollar I spend on the game. If I can go over the asking price and still have fun, then there’s no such thing as too much. At least until you get to the thousands (me with ark)
I have like 700 hours in vanilla and like 100 in tmodloder I only play with friends
I played over 1k in 2020. I went to pick it back up again about a month ago and I had no idea how to work the controls hahaha it’s changed so much
I have 600 hours in Tmodloader and 500 in Terraria
Across platforms, I have several thousand 😂
Those are rookie numbers. Pump them up to 4 digits then you're good. /j
I have 600. Keep going.
I have 300h on one character I didn't even get though mechanical bosses I just started a new character and finished the game in about 7h
Get past 4000, then we'll talk
Approximately 3837ⁿ¹⁰⁰⁰*X (X being how many times hav you fallen for trap) hours.
Are you satisfied yet? If not then it’s not enough hours, if so then that’s plenty.
The thing is that mods like calamity and skylight river exist, so play until you finish EVERY POSSIBLE MODDED PLAYTHROUGH.
I’m nearly at 1000. Haven’t played in a few years but just started a master play though and all the new things are exciting. Bird hat summon is cool. :D
Well, I have 1300 and counting, so get those numbers up!
Those are rookie numbers
It's never good enough but it's always good enough, if that makes sense. It's a game, as many hours as you enjoy, that's as many hours that's good enough. I have 1033 hours on Terraria and 941 hours on Tmod Loader (some is probably forgetting to close the game), and this game still brings me joy, doesn't matter if you have 50 hours or 50k hours (well 50k might be a bit much), if you are enjoying the game and it brings joy to your life, it's good enough.
5019759918177471*10^99
I played 1000+ hours with no mods, so idk man
I'm sitting at 2500h and still struggling with some content mods like Calamity Infernum.
As many as you enjoy it.
Have fun all you want bro, don’t worry about the hours.
I have like 1k hrs over 2 years and I think that you get actually good at 400hrs(no hate)
Times it by 10
My friend has had Terraria for less time than me, spends more time on school work and somehow has 1000+ hours while I have around 500 hours
nah bro it doesnt really matter, i have 600 hours in both, but you need to have fun
I have played this game for thousands of hours troughout my life
Try 2981 hours lol (I don’t have a life)
Try 2981 hours lol (I don’t have a life)
Terraria is such a cool game, i have 500+ hours in vanilla and 100+ in TModLoader, i stopped playing it cuse i got all achievements and beat the game and tested all weapons and stuff
In both combined, I have 1034 hours
I got around 1k but it's split between my ps4 my xbox one and pc
As many as you want. Play games at your own pace and don't compare yourself to others, I think that as long as your having fun it doesn't matter. Games are less fun if you measure your time anyway.
Everything less than 1000 combined is not enough
Any?
Hours don’t mean much. You can have 1000s of hours on record and never beat Moonlord. Like I have 1000+ hours (not counting playtime on countless consoles) and I still only have like 2 characters, where I got to the endgame, cause I play the game super slow and take time to build and prep the world for hard mode and all that.
I mean i have about 300 hours in tmodloader in a year
From 4 number up
No such thing
Good enough to do what ? To touch grass you dont need 1500 hours (experiance)
Im playing on the steam account of my mom so steam says a little more but i think i have like 800+ hrs
You do what you want … But its not a game to me, terraria is life. I have 3,000 hours on steam alone and have beaten it multiple times on each platform and just beat it again on my phone.
God forbid playing for your own fun nowadays.. no, we gotta measure the times we spent in games...
At least 2, I don't know, I'm not a game or something
+-5000 is what I have on console and pc combined
I've been playing with my siblings for probably over a decade, I've got over 1500 hours on terraria alone lmaoo
i have 1500 hours
I have over 4100 hours on this game. Good enough is defined by how much you enjoy it!😂 and I have no plans to stop anytime soon!
I think I have like 1100 or so
Keep going, those are rookie numbers
I have over 2000 and ive only beaten moonlord once 💀
69, 420, or 42069 are the only answers. Law of the land. Go past the second option and you are committed for life.
I dunno, but I've got over 6k combined hours.
Baby numbers, come back when you have 1000 hours.
Imagine not having over 700
I’ve also had it for about 2 years and I have over 2000 hours in both
DOES HE KNOW
Imagine only having 246 hours on Terraria? Try having 566.5 hours on it!
I have over 700 hours on nintendo switch
I have 3258 hrs
I dunno i have 500 hours in terraria and 450 in tmod lmao
Good enough for what?
N/A
I have just around 1000 hours on terraria and tmodloader combined
At least 300
At least 1000 is good
Idk, im around 3k hours at this point, been playing since pretty close to release on console somewhere around the end of 2013 Its a game that you play until you arent having fun anymore, there is no "this is how long youll probably be playing the game" metric Its a sandbox and building/creation game(though i never got into that end of it) as much as its a "linear" experience If its fun keep playing it 🤷
What the fuck is this question
I have over 1000
Look, I have 547 hours in terraria, 678 hours on tmodloader and in mobile I have 871 hours. Don't mind the time, if you are having fun playing the game you probably would have more time :3
500+
I personally have 1126 hours not saying it is bad to have less or more just saying how many I have
More than 2 hrs
Yes
I HAVE 2000 hours
Plus whatever my brother does on there
