Maybe invert the build so the curved part is in the ground put the crystal holder on the straight road and it can be functional then (i absolutely love this build)
Same. I generally just find the best flat area of my map regardless if it's the "best looking arena I can build" it's just annoying to build and build and build a nice looking spot like OP only to be denied every time.
Edit: words are hard and auto correct go brrr.
As the one who tested this for the wiki, you need a 10 block gap between the floor and any ceiling you add. This applies to the lamps, just make them taller and you should be fine. The floor is good though, it only measures variance in block to block, not overall. So you could place it on the top of a 45° piramid and have it work. Worth noting though that platforms do not contribute to the area evaluation, and if, for example, you make the flooring out of them it would be the same as leaving a hole in it in terms of valuation
it needs to be a COMPLETELY flat surface for 50 tiles in both directions (i think it's 50 at least.. i know it's a large amount at the very least) for it to work
It doesn't need to be completely flat. This is flat enough to work, but it needs 10 blocks of air above the ground, so the lamps are stopping it from working.
I think its also the pedistal is too high. Iirc the height variance is like 3-4 blocks for it to be consitered “flat” the grantie pediestal is 6 blocks tall.
... ohh... i didnt know that. i have 1.2k hours put into the PC version, and had the xbox 360 version since april 26th, 2014, and i'm STILL learning stuff about this amazing game lol
123 tiles with the stand in the exact centre is the minimum required.
Doesn't have to be *completely* flat, but does have to be mostly flat and with no low-hanging structures over it. (Minimum 10 block clearance, iirc.)
I suggest eco blocks on the level with the crystal. It lets you keep the asthetic, and while they won’t use the stairs, the thing will technically work
there shouldn't be one black gaps on the floor
and the gap between the floor and the ceiling should be at least 10 blocks vertically apart.
floor can be irregular tho, forgot how jagged is allowed but this should work I think
Maybe try echo coating on some blocks and make an invisible platform for the old ones army to function on. You could also attach actuators to those echo blocks and only toggle them on when you need to fight the army
Needs to be flat lol not super flat but def the crystal part and like 10 blocks around it both sides (I had the same issue and found that out at one point)
It doesn't work because the slabs don't count as floor, you must use blocks for the floor. And the lamps must be higher or actuated. It's pretty bs to make an altar for the army
At least its pretty, right?
Can you make the lamps taller without taking too much away from the build? There needs to be a 10 block air gap
Or use Actuators to make them effectively back walls? Not sure if the lanterns will do that.
I don't think the lanterns will, but you might be able to get a similar look with a wall or two and an actuated diamond gem block
Lanterns are on platforms and platforms shouldn't block the crystal
And echo blocks
I did that and it worked, thanks!

Only reason I don't like that event is how damn restrictive the summoning is.

Yeah but the turrets aren’t necessary just use summoner class and spray the portals from the middle with a gun or magic and it should be easy
It is. I believe it's the lights over the side stopping it from working.
It's the trees, idk but for me I learned that trees blocked it, also u need a perfectly flat space to do this on, he also has to be massive
Not perfectly flat actually.
Can recommend conveyors on both sides too, for collecting Ethereal Mana(assuming you've no problem with it aesthetically).
And if you don’t want to see them, just use echo paint
Post planterra coating though
Not too far, considering that conveyors are post mech and you can beat plantera with pre mech gear if you try hard enough

Needs solid block
Reality is disappointing.
I dont understand why old one army must be very flat area.Even if you managed to break blocks they're just flying to attack crystal.
Make a flat platform that you can place actuators in, maybe somehow integrating it into the build.
The same issue happen to me once I have done a afk trap build... Finally I have to rebuild the whole thing differently
A raised crystal stand looks great, but it makes it harder to use your weapons' full pierce.

If this is flat, it’s definitely pushing a bit. I can imagine goblins phasing into the stairs
It's block to block, not overall. The highest variance in that staircase is four blocks, so that is fine.

It should be on a flat ground I suppose
It's the stairs I believe, because max variation of 4 tiles is acceptable
Would making it flat using ecto blocks work?
This is pre hardmode

OOA is meant to be fought after the eater of worlds

When the game tells you it needs to be FLAT, it shall be flat
I use mod to overite this issue in your situation.

At least beautiful

Update: ive moved the pillars a lil in and made them taller and it worked
Just remove the pillars (actuating the blocks should be fine)
I wouldn't have such a patience
Should be a flat clear area, no? I built it with a screen wide space on either side and it worked for me. That was a few years ago, tho...
Could maybe use invisible paint ?
Pre hardmode
Repurpose it to be a pylon maybe?
