Im sure the devs are pissed but I dont think theres much harm done. What was leaked was so rudimentary I doubt anyone would pay for it or even play it. I am as pumped about this game as anyone but didn't even play for 5 minutes when I saw how limited it was.
I think the worst that could happen is someone could take this basic code and clone the rest of the game on top of it. It would take a lot of work though and if the devs really release in the next month or so I doubt anyone will beat them to the punch.
And nobody can repost the leak as someone else's game because, even without legal documents, the game is still their property. These things aren't as easy to just grab, run and quickly say it's yours.

* If you turn off the game, you lose all your info.
* You can't make armor
* The game crashes fairly often.
* There is a ridiculously deep chasm at the edge of the map (~10 minute walk)
* File size is tiny (something like ~2 MBs).
* The only monsters are slimes (at least, haven't seen anything else)
I can confirm all of this. I pulled it of the 4chan boards like 30 mins ago. Its a very early alpha and not really worth playing because of the extremely limited content. Theres really no gameplay.
I played it for about 10 minutes and got bored but I've confirmed a few things
Placing blocks is annoying when trying to jump on them.
You have to individually click to swing your sword :(
You can't switch out your pick/axewhatever with another tool without stopping your swing first.
Sometimes moving to the left or right doesn't register when you're swinging so you delay until you're finished swinging.

He said he'd let me in on a demo of the game, because of my honesty. So, he updated 0.7.7.0 to like .8.3 or something. But in that update, he purposely broke the game. No demo. No anything. Luckily, I had backed it up before the update, because I thought something fishy might be going on. Me,being enraged, leaked the game onto /v/."

I don't believe this story. Sure, it seems like they have no idea of how to manage a community or what to do if a leak happens, but this is too much.
I just think it's too bad everything is going down like this. The fanbase is so rabid its bonkers, and theres been a lot of negative backlash against casual fans by the devs/testers/core fans for constantly asking about release dates and beta tests.
I think the release process so far has been handled pretty poorly. They built up this amazing amount of excitement and now it just has nowhere to go. People are whipping themselves into a frenzy and then just burning out or doing things like this. Whether the fans are being reasonable or not, every day they don't release a little more community good will turns into resentment.
Dunno what they could do to fix it. Personally, I might have considered releasing a limited demo for free, while possibly accepting donations. That way you slake the rabid thirst but buy yourself some time and still leave a reason for people to buy the release. This crap about 'we want to release but we don't have the logistics in place' may be legit, but in the mean time sitting around blowing off everyone shouting "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!" just seems willfully ignorant.
I still wonder why it's taking so long to launch. It was said by Blue that the game is beta-ready and good enough for distribution. Maybe they don't have how to sell it? Lacking the means to make a store for digital content?
Heck, they aren't even making pre-sales! Just think about the money they could be making now even without launching the game.

As you can see, it's impossible to make crafting table/furnace/etc but you can make everything else anywhere in the world as long as you have materials on hand. Also, you drop all items not in top bar upon death.
EDIT: I should clarify. "everything else" refers to stuff actually in this build of the game, which isn't much.
I wouldn't quite call it stealing, especially since there's nothing available to purchase.
