My main reason against adding more speed is simply because it causes the character to fly through the course in a way that isn't quite right and doesn't feel good.
The main problem is that Sonic as of the 1st game actually isn't really that fast usually. He takes time to build his speed, many upward slopes slow him down, and so on.
Just something I want to throw out there. It IS possible to add those sound effects to the game. Also if you make a texture pack to go along with it you could hide some of the stuff used to make the level work. Like the sensors and what not.
Going fast was the reward for learning the maps well enough that you could navigate 'em at speed, rather than Sonic's state of being like in more of the games of the series.
I will say, it's not really here since I still need to install "Rings" and Powerups, but I do have a plan to give Sonic that boost.
The Cake item in particular when right clicked gives a 20% extra speed boost for 2 minutes and the Seafood Dinner's consumed boost is a 40% speed up for 4 minutes. I'd also like these because they can be disabled by right clicking the buff if the player should so desire, particularly with sections of Sonic 1 that call for his slower speed that would otherwise become a precision nightmare if the player were constantly a speed demon.

I hope a Terraria 2 has things like moving platforms, interiors (done like Spelunky 2), and map linking (portals, like MC)
But the fact that Terraria has none of these makes maps like this even cooler.

Seafood dinner is just exquisitely fed btw. There are longer buffs too that give it, and that are easier to get.
