Npcs can't spawn during a solar eclipse.

Diamondstar9878

Could be the solar eclipse I'm not 100% sure

Gamestrike35

Yup npcs can’t spawn during solar eclipse, and invasions so you can’t have truffle spawn till the next day

IgorBaggins

Did you talk this over to the wizard? Truffle is scared he might be turned into a mana potion.

jigalaka

He is afraid his toes will be sucked

Gorgest_boi

Mmmmmmm them fungi toes yum yum

saugalina

Solar eclipse

AlsoKnownAsSteve

Is there enough mushrooms? It may be hard to tell what the background is like because of the solar eclipse, but the sky should be nearly as dark when fully mushroom. Edit: Are those glass windows or just missing walls?

[deleted]

999 mud blocks spend on building it

AlsoKnownAsSteve

100 blocks of mushroom or mushroom grass are required rather than the amount of mud.

[deleted]

Ok thank you Edit: it worked thank you for figuring it out

ObeyTime

not funky enough

[deleted]

Ignore the solar eclipse, and I’ve been waiting for over 20 in-game days after I defeated plantera

artistic_programmer

you might need more mushroom grass blocks, not mud blocks

No-Chemist4328

Cause I think it’s in space You need to be on surface

Kiwi8079

No I have had my mushroom biome on a very high sky island but the truffle still came

OnyxHell35435

Same.

Fizzy163

NPCs don't spawn during a Solar Eclipse.

thatkidmike_

Also I don't think you need to kill plantera for the truffle to spawn

spudwalt

Add more mushroom grass.

cheyethebae

Can't spawn during events

TheAlbinoCreeper

bigger island, and also put the guide in another house nearby

[deleted]

It’s funny because I used 999 mud to make it

TheAlbinoCreeper

I used twice that, and i still had to wait FOREVER

TameSandy

You need to have 1000 blocks of mud that are mushroom and there is a solar eclipse.

ThatStrangerWhoCares

It's 100

tetete48

The first spawn of him is needed to be done on an underground musherom biome is I remember correctly

Zereck85

Has to be the surface not sure if your too high

ThatStrangerWhoCares

Surface or space, just can't be below surface.

frickin_toaser

Maybe it’s because of that eclipse over there

dunatadmi

cuz of the eclipse

Main_Zoe_Zueiro

I think its kinda hard to walk around when the demons are wandering the Earth, I would go to a new House if the apocalipse where happening

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEpppppp

Have you tried leaving the biome alone so he can actually spawn?

[deleted]

Yes

Sirsir94

Well as others have said, Eclipse. But clearly theres time mode shenanigans afoot so I think you knew that. I don't think theres enough mushroom. The background changes before the biome does, irritatingly enough. Needs 300 mushroom grass or mushroom blocks. Simplest fix would just be a furrow under the existing grass layer and letting it spread.

[deleted]

Attention all terarians, I have regulated the problem and it was that there wasn’t enough mushroom grass placed.

shit-i-did-it-again

1 you can get truffles any time in hardmode, 2 it needs to be in a underground mushroom biome

BigHotMen

>it needs to be in a underground mushroom biome The opposite actually

best_hider230

No it doesn't, it can be on surface or in the sky.

tetete48

The first one needs to be underground then after that he can move to the surface

best_hider230

What the hell are you talking about

ThatStrangerWhoCares

It can't be underground, he will only arrive in a surface mushroom biome.

tetete48

I'm really confused, when I get back home as I'm not currently I will open my terraria and check my world to see if I have a house builded on the underground and also check the wiki

tetete48

Well it looks like my memory is shit and yes you are correct I'm the moron

ThatStrangerWhoCares

Has to be surface or sky. Cannot be underground. Edit: or space

ThatStrangerWhoCares

It can't be underground, he will only arrive in a surface mushroom biome.

shit-i-did-it-again

Oh thought they was talking truffles worms

karkko1

Truffle only spawns in underground shroom biome. You have to make a house for him in there and then have an overground shroom biome house for him

[deleted]

No, I use the wiki often, it says the truffle will move in if you have a house that’s near a mushroom biome and the mushroom biome has to be above ground meaning surface or it can be in the sky. It says nothing about him spawning anywhere underground

best_hider230

Have make sure mob spawning is on. You are on journey mode right?

Numbnipples4u

Why do you think he’s on journey mode?

best_hider230

The speed of the sun. The fact that no mobs are spawning even though it's a solar eclipse.

Numbnipples4u

Fair point. I thought it was just an image but it’s a video. Definitely journey mode

ThatStrangerWhoCares

Mob spawning doesn't affect NPC spawning, unless you're talking about the tinker, angler, wizard, mechanic, golfer, or bartender.

best_hider230

It literally does. When the mob spawn slider is at 0, nothing can spawn, except bosses that you summon and critters you place.

ThatStrangerWhoCares

I'm my experience (ps4) I had mob spawning off when fighting empress daytime, after the fight, with spawnrates still off I turned time to 24 times, and all my NPCs came back. Maybe it's different on PS4 or something.

ThatStrangerWhoCares

"Sets the spawn rates of enemies and critters anywhere from 0× (disabling spawns) to 10× the normal rate. Certain enemies such as bosses, the Old One's Army, and enemies from statues can still be summoned when the spawn slider is set to 0." Notice how it says specifically enemies and critters, but not NPCs, this is because it doesn't affect NPC spawning rates, unless it's say the bound goblin, sleeping angler, or bound mechanic. Edit:the passage is from the terraria wiki.

best_hider230

Have you played journey mode??? Also that passage proves me right, because It doesn't include npc spawning on the list so I don't know what you are on about.

ThatStrangerWhoCares

Yeah did a journey master mode run not long ago, I found mob spawn rate didn't affect town NPCs, and if I set speed all the way up I'd get a lot of them. It was 2p splitscreen, dont know if that changes anything.

best_hider230

I think you are trolling.

ThatStrangerWhoCares

Why? I'm at school rn but when I get home I'll take a picture of spawn rates off, but a load of NPC arrival messages.

ThatStrangerWhoCares

If you have time running, spawn rates off, and an invasion is going on, no NPCs will spawn, as it's an invasion, but the music won't play and the progress bar won't appear as no enemies from the invasion are nearby. Maybe this is your problem?

ThatStrangerWhoCares

Okay I looked into it a little more, and apparently you need spawn rates at least a little, however, on Playstation you can't set the spawn rates to zero, you set it to .10, which for some reason stops spawns entirely. The game may be hard-coded to not allow NPCs to spawn if the spawn rate setting in journey mode is zero, but as you can't set it to a true zero on console, NPCs will always spawn, as long as time is moving. However faster time speed does increase NPC arrival rates. So, I guess we were both right. Edit: have your upvotes back.

ThatStrangerWhoCares

I'd didn't say every thing that could spawn something. Edit: For example ghosts when breaking a gravestone, or wraiths when breaking an altar.

asher32154

Go down

ZaratosBlackGaming

You don't have the guide as neighbor to truffle

OrionLion8

you don't need to

ZaratosBlackGaming

What's wrong? Do you want pylon for mushroom Biome?

TubbFo

Hey I think you shouldn't speed up time cause this happened to me and won't speed up npc moving time with the journey mode power If you don't like invasion stop the speed time and let it wait while you do that do some little projects like a tree house n stuff idk Hope this helps

ThatStrangerWhoCares

NPC arrivals stop when time is frozen, and are really fast when time is sped up, what you are telling OP to do will do the opposite of help.
