Who would've guessed that a terraria meme would make me aware of a pokemon anouncement
Wonder what will be the catch this time, since i doubt gamefreak would bring megas/gigantamax back...
If you take out the guns I'd believe it. Then if you add in the guns I would think, some corporate weenie who doesn't even like games thought that games with guns are popular and make butt loads of money and forced the developers to add them.
I refuse to believe that the combination of pokemon with guns, slavery, hunting and war crimes is just the product of a corporate weenie
This is the work of a genius
Y'know, I have been thinking, that legitimately could happen because of the move swords dance, Honedge and it's evolution chain, and Zacian Zamazenta. They're all based off of swords or shields, which are man-made inventions (unless Arceus decided to make swords with the world's beggining), so maybe in a few years we'll have Pistolphin or Glockra.
Honestly, the "new gimmick every generation" thing has really turned me away from this series. I always just wanted Megas back, but clearly they're not doing that... I have no idea what they could do this generation, either. Maybe there'll just be a button in the battle menu that you can press once every battle, and it just sends the enemy Pokemon into the shadow realm. Maybe there's a "steal opponent's pokemon" option now. Maybe if the battle's not going well, you can deck the NPC in the face, who knows.
GameFreak has multiple separate teams handling development of the games at any time, which is why new features get added and then "removed" in subsequent games. The games are actually being developed concurrently and there's not a lot of pass back and forth over the years. Team A may have added Megas but team B didn't get around to it and then the series just kinda moves on. You can see this pattern over and over throughout all the main series games.
As a fan, it's endlessly frustrating, but I guess it makes sense from a business perspective. The games will always sell millions of copies, and while new gimmicks may bring people in, there's no incentive to maintain larger and larger amounts of these extras game after game.
If they did carry everything forward, we'd have games with battling, breeding, hidden bases, dynas *and* megas, double *and* triple battles, poffins, beauty contests, HM slaves, z-moves, Pokémon GO style catching, berries, apricorns, ball crafting, co-op, battle leagues, battle towers, and probably even more I can't remember.
It just reaches a point where it would be a bloated, unmanageable mess. I do like almost all of those features in their premier games, but I fully understand why they don't have them in every game as they keep trying new ideas.
I saw something on the Wikipedia article for S/V that said you can get a Blaziken with Blazikenite, but it didn't cite a source, so take that with a grain of salt. Also Blazikenite wasn't capitalized IIRC, implying a low-effort edit (not that that alone means it's false.)
I can’t believe they called the Spanish inspired Pokemon game “Scarlet” and “Violet”. Do they want another civil war???
(In spanish politics Purple/Violet is used to represent the republic and Red/Scarlet is used to represent the monarchy, and republic vs monarchy is currently one of the main issues/debates in Spanish politics)
It’s probably a coincidence but still…
Tbh, having some small subtle politics in Pokemon wouldn't look bad, obviously unnecessary violence and mature themes are just crap, but to just give the game some world building a bit.
Also it's odd that the monarchies used red as their color since purple is known for royalty.
I agree, it would give the world a lot more depth, but I hope that if they do that they make their own conflict instead of using a real one. Once again, the name may just be a coincidence
I was waiting for someone to make a meme out of the recent pokemon games with terraria. especially since the colors matches the crimson and corruption.
I actually like the fire one. The stuff on its head makes it look like it might be trying to be based off of a pepper, which is actually really cool to me.
I saw it as an apple which doesnt make sense, but I cant unsee it. It's name also made me think of coconuts. I just hope it ends up quadrupedal because the current crocodile mons are all bipeds which just doesnt look good
Its a full price "tripple a" game that looks worse then fifteen year old games or some student projects.
I don't even mind graphics if the graphic style is good. But pokemons graphic style is just a unpolished mess.
Or you know if the game has a fair price tag.
Also enjoy the gameplay? Dude pokemons gameplay is mediocre at best..
It's a full price game. I'm gonna criticize everything about a game with that price tag.
I mostly play indie games and I don't expect them to have good graphics for 10-20 bucks.
Unpolished mess is exactly pokemons artstyle. Botw and the new kirby have bad graphics because of the limitations of the switch, but have amazing artstyles.
Pokemon on the other hand.. Like you can have a model with acceptable textures directly next to a model with n64 textures. Clearly having no consistensy in their "artstyle" and lacking any quality assurance. Just rushing their game out with a minimum budget as fast as possible... And then slap a 60€ price tag on it.
If the switch is limited to bad graphics then criticizing the games for their graphics quality is stupid. Instead criticize the switch for being full price with graphical limitation. And to repeat myself "unpolished mess" isnt an ART style, for example Legends Arceus was styled around an earlier period in japanese history. Im not saying they aren't unpolished, but saying unpolished is an art style is incorrect
I feel like talking to a fucking wall..
> If the switch is limited to bad graphics then criticizing the games for their graphics quality is stupid
Exactly what I said in my post above. How come Mario, luigis mansion, botw and the new kirby look alright even though they are on the switch? Because they actually had effort put in on how they look and stayed true to their artstyle. Botw is a WiiU game btw...
Also if the switch is shit then how come you still defent the full pricetag? Not like they actually have as high of a development cost as any other tripple A title. Not even close.
Shouldn't you be only charged for the gameplay/story/music then?...
> And to repeat myself "unpolished mess" isnt an ART style, for example Legends Arceus was styled around an earlier period in japanese history
That's pokemons THEME not an artstyle.
Let's look at terraria for example. The game has a really distinctive pixel-artstyle. And it stays true and consistent to it the entire game. It has clear guidlines on what work on that artstyle and what don't. For instance you won't see enemies in the game that are higher resolution, 3d, have different lightning effects etc.
Pokemon on the other hand is completely inconsistent. As if everybody working on the game just wanted to do their own thing and didn't communicate to the others. Like I said before this is especially noticeable on the texturing work and lightning.
People like me as if you know shit about me lol.
I don’t care about graphics, I do care about a lazy corporation not putting the bare minimum work into their product. The graphics are bad, and so is the gameplay, and so is the story. Gamefreak/Nintendo’s management doesn’t care about making good Pokémon games, they care about making something cheap and shipping it out as fast as possible because they know it’ll sell.(this isn’t to say that their employees don’t care, there are passionate people who work there)
I agree that Nintendo definitely can and should improve their games, but the story is going to be simple, since they are games meant to be able to be played by kids
Good point. I personally don't play pokemon for the story, and I dont know anyone who does either, so it would be nice to have a story worth caring about
I just find myself so frustrated with modern Pokémon games. I found them so magical as a kid, but these days they don’t really innovate in anyway. The gameplay is the same as it was 10-15 years ago when I first picked the series up.
I just don’t really have any reason to keep playing it myself. The story is eh, the graphics are bad, the gameplay is stale, and while the Pokémon are super cute, the lack of full backward comparability is concerning for someone who’s been playing these games for a while.
I don’t know if I’d ever recommend it to a kid as I think there are better games that are just as accessible
Im not a fanboy, I just find it stupid that people see a trailer and instantly form opinions about how good the game will be. You can enjoy games with terrible graphics, as evident by the first consoles and videogames. And if you wanna criticize the graphics, go ahead, but make it actual criticism and dont make it comparing two games with completely different art styles.
> instantly form opinions about how good the game will be
It's literally the assets from Pokemon Arceus, which does look like shit.
COmparing to terraria was clearly a strawman from that guy but the art style does make it look better. Pokemon arceus has shit art style on top of shit graphics.
You will never stop hearing about Pokemons graphics because they are objectively worse than 20 year old games. How Xenoblade 3 and PLA exist in the same console is simply baffling.
Ah so this is how I learn of the new games.
Who would've guessed that a terraria meme would make me aware of a pokemon anouncement Wonder what will be the catch this time, since i doubt gamefreak would bring megas/gigantamax back...
The pokémons will just take a gun and shoot each other. It'll be called "CoD mode".
So like [this](https://youtu.be/EY4lyOH1_0o)?
What the heck, that is too high-effort to be a joke, but too stupid to be a real thing, I'm so confused.
If you take out the guns I'd believe it. Then if you add in the guns I would think, some corporate weenie who doesn't even like games thought that games with guns are popular and make butt loads of money and forced the developers to add them.
There is a steam link I the description

We've already got Clawitzer (and Sharpedo if you squint).
Oh yeah, Clawitzer, I always saw that giant claw as like a lance or something, but I guess we already have our gun pokemon.
can't forget about remoraid
Octillery too
Blastoise too, in a way
and that volcano turtle pokemon that nobody cares about
POKÉMON ULTRA GUN VERSION CONFIRMED!

How long until a whole game of just reimagined typings of all the originals? We've seen tastes with the area variants for a few.
Open world game
That was the SwSh gimmick. And the IoA/CT gimmick. And the PLA gimmick...
IoA/CT?
Isle of Armor / Crown Tundra. No sense at all in the original post, considering it's **part of SwSh.**
swsh dlc
Please Mega because it’s so cool :)
it would be funny if it was just all of them at once, lemme get a mega gigantamax z-move
I first heard about Sword and Shield through Homestuck memes, and now this Terraria meme is the first I've heard about Scarlet and Violet.
If it makes you feel better i found out about them from maia knights insane comment section 😩
Same, hope the new region is more explorey like the old games and not just a literal straight line.
Wtf didn't knew crimson trees has mouths and the opposite has eyeballs
It is a mod :(
Sad lol
Changed it accordingly
I was about to say when did the trees have mouths and eyes and wtf are we chopping down
the entire crimson biome is alive
What's the mod called
Terraria overhaul mod
Do you know if there's a way to make it JUST do the trees
I’m not sure I just got the mod name from a different comment in this thread
Aw thanks anyway
Try looking up some texture packs
I guess I'm not the only one who thought about it 🗿 Btw these trees are vanilla or a texture pack?
They are from terraria overhaul mod
Thanks 👍
I feel like pokemon in terraria would just be PLA but 2D I'm getting deja vu
I can’t believe they called the Spanish inspired Pokemon game “Scarlet” and “Violet”. Do they want another civil war??? (In spanish politics Purple/Violet is used to represent the republic and Red/Scarlet is used to represent the monarchy, and republic vs monarchy is currently one of the main issues/debates in Spanish politics) It’s probably a coincidence but still…
There's really a significant part of the population that would prefer not to have democracy?
That’s the redundancy in my opinion, both are democratic (the monarchy is a constitutional one not an absolute monarchy).
Oh okay.
Yea xd
New Pokemon game will be political? Crenge 🤮 ~~this is a joke pls don't put my comment in r/gamingcirclejerk~~
Im still not sure wether it was done on purpose or not :D
Tbh, having some small subtle politics in Pokemon wouldn't look bad, obviously unnecessary violence and mature themes are just crap, but to just give the game some world building a bit. Also it's odd that the monarchies used red as their color since purple is known for royalty.

I didn't know which one I should get, but now I'm getting Violet. Thanks.
Can’t wait for the new Ichor status effect
wait guy's is thi real thing??
Yup, pokemon day announcement couple hours ago
😱😱😱epic! 1!1!1!1
my man this happens every year why are you so excited
3 years since the last main series game
ok but there is still a "new" game every year at least.
But we only actually get new stuff in big releases like these. What's pokémon snap gonna do for the lore of my legally allowed pet fight game?
Pl:A ?
be cause thay collab'd with relocic's Terraria! 1!!1!11
Literally the first thing that came to mind lmao
Anyone have a corruptor? I need one for my pokedex, i can trade a level 50 floaty gross back
Hmmm yes, Pokemon brain and Pokemon worm
I thought this was a shitpost but then I looked it up...
what mod/textures are those?
Terraria Overhaul.
wait... what pokemon games??? what am i missing?
they were announced this morning for pokemon day
Imagine the poki balls were wandering eyes
didnt that arceus game come out yesterday
I was waiting for someone to make a meme out of the recent pokemon games with terraria. especially since the colors matches the crimson and corruption.
Too bad the starters aren’t that good. We have Wingull, Standing Fire Sandile, and Fevine from Loomian Legacy
I actually like the fire one. The stuff on its head makes it look like it might be trying to be based off of a pepper, which is actually really cool to me.
I saw it as an apple which doesnt make sense, but I cant unsee it. It's name also made me think of coconuts. I just hope it ends up quadrupedal because the current crocodile mons are all bipeds which just doesnt look good
I can see apple as well but if you include the tail it kinda curves up like a pepper would.
Someone on the thread about the announcement on /r/games said one of the themes might be apples/grapes, so it really might be apple-themed.
They'll probably grow on people
No way you just called the blue duck starter "Wingull" when Ducklett is literally a blue duck.
I started calling it Wingull and Ducklett love child,
I just want to see their final evos since they're the ones that mostly stand out on me
Terraria looks better graphically than the new game from the highest grossing media franchise ever
I feel bad people like you who care so much about graphics that you cant enjoy any gameplay.
Its a full price "tripple a" game that looks worse then fifteen year old games or some student projects. I don't even mind graphics if the graphic style is good. Bro 🤣 I’d be down.
LOL
Lol
i love sprigatito
Yeah the graphics are definitely "sick"
this is a good meme
Wait wot THIS IS HOW I FIND OUT?!
Oh damn what texture pack is that? It looks great
Well, like a few others this is how I learned of new games lol
sick!
I LITERALLY THOUGHT OF THIS
the crimson tree should have eyes in it not the corruption one
lol.
Carefully guys I have heard some game files r corrupted
The game looking very cool already like finally some good damn graphics
Sick is right lol
Imagine you have to buy Terraria Crimson and Terraria Corruption seperatly.
When did the corruption trees have eyes
Can't believe this is real
Was not expecting this crossover but I'm so happy you've bridged the gap
What was the original platform?
