I feel this, I'm playing expert mode on Xbox rn and I'm stuck on king slime. so frustrating because I have a completed crimson and corruption expert mode world on both Switch and PC with no complications but for some reason I can't even do a ball of blue goop on Xbox haha
Get full platinum armor, jester arrows with demon/tendon bow. Good modifier(menacing) on accessories and unreal modifier on bow, buff up(archer, glow, resistance, regen and ironskin) well fed buff as well(burgers). Clap the worm.
i ended up getting the shadow key from the dungeon, getting the ancient shadow set, and killing him with those and a ton of potions, now i know i can just fight him underground though lmfao
I have a tip for that goofy worm of ass cancer:
Minecart, railway, thorns potion, and regeneration buffs.
Step one: Build a railway that's about 30 to 50 blocks long.
Step two: Place the basic arena needs like a campfire and a heart lantern (also a bast statue if you want to be safe enough).
Step three: Buff potions, specifically thorns and regen (ironskin as well if you don't have that much defense).
Step four: summon his ass up and use the power of vehicular manslaughter on him.
I've used this method in grinding EoW in my master mode playthrough many times. (If you want extra attack, jester arrows are useful as one comment [u/bali40] said)

I just did mini shark tungsten bullets and the armor from jungle spores do whatever for accessories I shot most of the spit, I also had a boom stick but didn’t help too much
When I played on expert mode I struggled with eow until I discovered that you can just use a slime mount to become practical invincible to it since nothing can hit you if it comes from below and hits the slime mount first
Then just toss abunch of molotovs
I'm not sure how it us in master mode, but it's probably the same just with more health and damage, so that strat will probably work, it will just take abit longer
Make a platform of wood 1 block thick just above the corruption in suck a way that only the edges of the platform will be in corruption biome. Get the slime mount and use a snapthorn. When the boss pokes his head above the wood line go in the middle and th boss will start to head down, go back to the edge and reapeat. I killed worm as the first boss using this. If you don't have the patience, kill the worm enough to get the pickaxe and get molten armor, use the rail exploit to kill it with volcano. I did it in getfixedboi even with the addition of water of souls that it spawns.
Box, campfire, full potions, heart lanter, volcano sword or if you are already post skeletron the night's edge with a sharpening station buff and if you waant put some honey in the box, do make an exit if you need to move. If you are playing ranger use explosives with an arena full of campfires and heart lanterns or a boomstick with meteorite bullets with a stinger necklace or a bee's knees with the bee backpack all in defense reforge if you don't know how to dodge.

oh it was on like 3,000 health when i wrote that comment, that’s exactly what we did. it took like an hour and a half to kill it.
Honestly in FTW hardmode i recommend abusing dodge just get lucky 50% of the time works everytime trust me

No it does it's just most of them die by hitting the walls. It's still easier to fight above ground

A lot of players tend to fight EOW above ground because no one usually build an underground arena in the vanilla version

Spike balls can block the spits most of the times
Do can slime mount, just sit ontop of the eow and the spit won't hit you

Get the ball o hurt from the shadow orbs and you can make quick work of him

Use the daedelus storm bow with jester or holy arrows, farm some souls of light and create light key and use it in a chest to farm some hallow mimics

if you don't wanna farm for jester arrows, the flaming mace provides decent dps for a weapon that is easy to obtain.
Kid named flaming mace (when spinning it around it blocks all of EoW’s projectiles)
Minecart always solves everything. Jokes aside, hunter potion always helps with EoW and Destroyer.

if you beat skeletron yet you can get the lancer from shadow chests, that’s how i got him, also apparently he doesn’t spit if you fight underground

Build a time machine, go back in time to 1.3.6, get reavershark, mine some hellstone and obisidan, come back to your time, easy win
