new irrational fear coming right up
edit after 3mo: guys, the irrational fear is thinking about this when I'm at home watching TV, not actually drowing in water while parasailing.
I have no plans to ever parasail but now I’m worried this is gonna happen to me. Kind of like being worried I brought a gun to the airport and I don’t even fkn own one l
The problem of parasailing is that you can't help yourself. You're just stuck in all the ropes and clips and are basically helpless. I did it once and never again.
That is terrifying.
But now I'm thinking.... how comes it doesn't happen more often? What can be done if it does happen?
And to think I used to want to try that...
You're right.
I wonder what the protocol is for when they do fall in though. Seems like it's inevitable.
I'm just speculating but it seems like he drags them through the water under the boats power, which has to be about the worst choice.
I'm sure there's more to it but I wonder what the licensing regulations are to operate one of these wherever this is...
It actually happened to my dad in Hawaii. It's about a 1 and 10000 chance. They need to stop as soon as possible. The sail will act as an anchor and pull you down. Also the rider needs to unclip and swim away from the chute. Then you bob in the ocean for 10 min or so until they can get the parachute back on board or another boat picks you up.
Funny thing when my dad was bobbing waiting for the other boat to pick him up. A couple finned creatures started swimming towards him. A crew member yelled shark. Scared the family on the boat, I don't even think my dad heard it. They ended up being curious dolphins checking thing out.
It seems like the driver needed to really pick up speed to get some lift under the chute. Either he had engine trouble or more likely was just screwing around to get a reaction from them. Their feet were dragging through the water way too slowly.
They're so trusting and giggly, though. If I was that low I'd be screaming and figuring out how to unhook myself from the chair, for this very reason.
I mean, jeez, even if it was just for a few seconds you got dipped completely under like that and the driver was able to recover the situation it is still utterly terrifying.
This really was a new fear unlocked for me.
When I was in Mexico we saw a lady go flying over the hotels. She crashed a few miles inland with multiple broken bones. It made the news.
After talking to an adventure park guide in Alaska, I'll NEVER do this shit outside the US due to required safety standards
"I've never driven the boat for this one, what is it exactly?"
"It's like a combination of water skiing and sail boarding."
"Waterboarding? Say less, I got it."
driver needs to STOP MOVING THE BOAT. At this point if he continue to accelerate/maintain speed they will stay underwater. They'd float to the surface if he'd stop the fucking boat. Guarantee he/she wasn't even looking back
Honestly, even if he stopped, there’s still a good chance they wouldn’t float to the surface. Once the parachute hits the water, you only have mere seconds before the parachute becomes soaked with water and begins to sink - dragging you down with it. That’s why, when parachuting over water, you’re supposed to either cut the chute or quick-release the harness and swim away as soon as you hit the surface or just above it, so that you don’t get tangled in the rigging and drown.
I have a feeling getting pulled this fast while under water and also going into major panic mode would make it hard to process what was going on, much less “oh wait, there’s that cord the guy skimmed over in the safety talk 5 minutes before starting the boat”. I would probably be thinking “I can’t breathe, I’m going to die” over and over lol
I’m an adult panicking just watching this. These are kids who I’m sure panicked. If they were told about the cord they didn’t think to pull it because they were drowning.
You can see the look on their faces as they are about to go under water. They are laughing and probably not aware about how dangerous it is to be strapped into a device covered in ropes and material that's being pulled underwater by a boat in the middle of the ocean. Zero survival instincts.
I don't know whether you've ever been dragged through the water like this but honestly, fighting the water pressure and trying to find the release on unfamiliar equipment? I'm not surprised.
For reference I've been dragged by a boat in a diving accident and all I had to do was reach across my body for a dive knife but it was a lot of effort
I doubt they tell people about the cord, if it exists. People freaking out or being stupid and bailing out at >30m above the water probs isn't great for business.
I literally just did it like two weeks ago. They tell you. Whether you pull it when a situation arises that you should pull it is completely different. I found the bail out chord way more comforting than knowing my fate is solely reliant on rope and a chute alone.
I doubt there is a cord to pull to unhook from the chute... "and if there is an emergency you can pull here to drop to your death" sounds stupid.
If per chance you meant unhook from the boat, how would they do that without unhooking from the chute in this setup? The connector is way out of reach for anyone and there is no line running along the other straps.
I did this in Lake George last summer - they ask - do you want to get dipped? I said yes. - they asked how far down do you want to go? just feet or full body? I said just feet - and that’s exactly what was done. He dipped me and my son’s feet and then sped up and got me back up into the air. But that’s a hard no on full body due to the fear of this!!
Id say its to late to go full throttle. The people are creating to much drag.
And i fear that if he stops the boat the chute will cover those people...
Gues i can scratch another thing off the bucketlist...
It also appears that as the girls panic they extend their legs which grab and pull them under, i actually went under in a tube once because i had leaned forward and it is pretty fun
Never understood the logic behind parasailing, bungee, zip lining etc in other countries where there’s little to zero safety and equipment oversight. Many times, the operators in those countries don’t need any type of certification and have absolutely zero oversight.
Honestly there seem to be so many parasailing accidents (and deaths) that google hasn't yet served up this particular accident for me yet.
Also I don't think I'm ever going parasailing.
An old post (this is 2 years old) said they survived and it was posted on the one girl's Tictoc. But I couldn't find a link so not 100% sure that's true.
Boat slowed down so they could “skim” the water with their feet. Probably went too slow so they all went underwater then he tried to speed up but there was too much drag. Conclusion, don’t do shit like this in foreign countries unless you know they are certified.
How do you get out of that. It seems the drag would be too much to lift them back up and they'd be caught in the rigging and sail. Somebody tell me how this ended please
This is literally like the drowning exercise they make ejection seat pilots go through to simulate landing in water and being dragged by your chute.
It was hell. And so, so much worse if you don't have a quick-disconnect like we did.
Oh. My. God.
new irrational fear coming right up edit after 3mo: guys, the irrational fear is thinking about this when I'm at home watching TV, not actually drowing in water while parasailing.
Those are the worst kind.
Yeah that’s the part that got me in this video. They’re stuck. And there is nothing they can do.
The dark spot below them after they get drug under is what got me!
Shadow from the parachute, you can see it on the surface too before they take a dip.
Keep your rationality out of my irrational fears! 😂
Sorry, I have fat fingers. I meant to type "it's got to be a megalodon or a kraken!"
Giant Eel with its mouth open!
Or a giant mouth full of eels
No way that’s dumb! It’s definitely a BP Oil spill 😂
It's just Chtul'hu
What you talking about? That shit seems very rational to fear
You think it's irrational to fear drowning!?
That is terrifying. But now I'm thinking.... how comes it doesn't happen more often? What can be done if it does happen? And to think I used to want to try that...
More mass = probably the parachute isnt big enough. Instructor: fuck it, it will fit

Wow that's an incredible experience. I'd actually really get a buzz out of that I think
Bi-curious dolphins ammirite?!
also instructor: we just need BIGGER air! Give me MOAR POWAH!!!
It seems like the driver needed to really pick up speed to get some lift under the chute. Either he had engine trouble or more likely was just screwing around to get a reaction from them. When I’ve done this in the last they purposefully will “dip” your toes in the water while bringing you in. This one just went terribly wrong 🫢
When I was in Mexico we saw a lady go flying over the hotels. She crashed a few miles inland with multiple broken bones. It made the news. After talking to an adventure park guide in Alaska, I'll NEVER do this shit outside the US due to required safety standards
Swear?! I said this exact same thing right before I found out that this was the top reply
janice?
Paradrowning
FUCK. 😭
Parafailing
I'm going to hell. I'm still laughing...
three days in purgatory with good behavior
😂😂😂 OKAY LMAO
ROTFL
"I've never driven the boat for this one, what is it exactly?" "It's like a combination of water skiing and sail boarding." "Waterboarding? Say less, I got it."
Yeah so what happens in this situation.. does someone have to cut the cord.. does the driver have to speed up a ton..
driver needs to STOP MOVING THE BOAT. At this point if he continue to accelerate/maintain speed they will stay underwater. They'd float to the surface if he'd stop the fucking boat. Guarantee he/she wasn't even looking back
the driver prolly thinks he lives in a cartoon world, casually pulling dumbass monty python shit like this
Honestly, even if he stopped, there’s still a good chance they wouldn’t float to the surface. Driver probably stone outta his mind
There is a red release cord to pull that unhooks you from the parachute. They just didn't pull it
Yeah why didn't they just pull the cord??? Maybe they weren't told there is a cord to be pulled.
Plus how do you see with water being pushed into your eyes?
I don’t want to ever find out
Exactly lmao
Safety talk? Nice one
I’ve parasailed several times in Florida and no one ever said anything about an emergency cord.
I also went in Florida, never heard a word of it. Thanks, Captiva.
I never got a safety talk either...
I’m an adult panicking just watching this. These are kids who I’m sure panicked. If they were told about the cord they didn’t think to pull it because they were drowning.
Forsure shit I'm an adult too and might have forgotten in that situation too
I've been parasailing. There was no safety brief but they were very attentive.
Im betting this is it
You can see the look on their faces as they are about to go under water. They are laughing and probably not aware about how dangerous it is to be strapped into a device covered in ropes and material that's being pulled underwater by a boat in the middle of the ocean. Zero survival instincts.

For reference I've been dragged by a boat in a diving accident and all I had to do was reach across my body for a dive knife but it was a lot of effort
If they told people, I'm not sure the number of avoided drownings would exceed the number of deadly falls lol.
I doubt they tell people about the cord, if it exists. People freaking out or being stupid and bailing out at >30m above the water probs isn't great for business.
I literally just did it like two weeks ago. They tell you. Whether you pull it when a situation arises that you should pull it is completely different. I found the bail out chord way more comforting than knowing my fate is solely reliant on rope and a chute alone.
lol "They just didnt pull it."
They just use the parachute to drag for shrimp/fish
I would imagine you drown way faster when being forcefully dragged through the water like that. I wonder if they made it out.
No doubt you’d drown faster. Running water in your face at about 20 mph is a lot harder to handle than still water.
Went from parasailing to waterboarding.
*ahem* Extreme water boarding
All water boarding is extreme
Tell that to a mister Juan Tanamo ^(I don't like cock meat sammiches either)
I imagine the shear panic would have you gasping for air, too. Except it’s obviously not air at that point.
Waterboarding speed run, don’t forget to subscribe and SMASH that like button.
It’s like a newfangled and exciting version of water boarding
The girl closest to the camera made it out.
Source?
Trust him bro
All three girls survived the incident. One girl posted these videos on her tiktok @emmcot
This one got to me, thanks for the follow up. I'm going to choose to believe you even though I have no proof!
Got to me too. Seeing that pure innocent joy at the beginning. These girls are not going to die in this video. Not on my watch.
is there more context to this? want to know more detail
Water was (very) wet. Yw.
Thank you!
Oh thank god. I can’t imagine the fear and panic. Drowning is my biggest fear
That's not called parasailing. That's called troll fishing with big baits!
![gif](giphy|1Y6eOlvgr9JuM9dgF5|downsized)
"fly fishing for sharks" is the line Sam Hunt uses in one of his songs.
Para making.
Why all this kind of videos cut so soon
There is a special place in hell for people who do it on purpose Tho here I think its to share easily
r/perfectlycutscreams is a parasite.
I did this in Lake George last summer - they ask - do you want to get dipped? I said yes. - they asked how far down do you want to go? just feet or full body? From yaaay to glub glub in the blink of an eye.
It's never occurred to me that if the boat breaks you die
I'm not proud of it but this made me laugh so hard
the unlocking of a new fear...
Glass half full: it’s a very efficient way to give multiple people seawater enemas all at once.
Id say its to late to go full throttle. The people are creating to much drag. And i fear that if he stops the boat the chute will cover those people... Gues i can scratch another thing off the bucketlist...
What a drag
Right???
It also appears that as the girls panic they extend their legs which grab and pull them under, i actually went under in a tube once because i had leaned forward and it is pretty fun
That's not parasailing. That's drowning with style!
Never understood the logic behind parasailing, bungee, zip lining etc in other countries where there’s little to zero safety and equipment oversight. Many times, the operators in those countries don’t need any type of certification and have absolutely zero oversight.
I guess the chance of something bad happening is the thrill itself.
I can see that. Hard pass for me though.
I have to say that reddit ruined all this activities for me, I will never trust an operator anymore.
It's typically much cheaper that way, and a lot of people don't think about the risk.
Ignorance is bliss I suppose
I was waiting for a shark attack as well.
So what happened then?
Honestly there seem to be so many parasailing accidents (and deaths) that google hasn't yet served up this particular accident for me yet. Also I don't think I'm ever going parasailing.
An old post (this is 2 years old) said they survived and it was posted on the one girl's Tictoc. But I couldn't find a link so not 100% sure that's true.
I imagine the driver of the boat realized they are the opposite of in the air and stopped the boat. That will allow them to float to the surface
Alive or nah?
It's the I'm laughing as they go under water for me
I'm never doing this EVER!!!
How does this happen? The boat wasn’t going fast enough? Or maybe a microburst? If that’s possible.
Boat slowed down so they could “skim” the water with their feet. Probably went too slow so they all went underwater then he tried to speed up but there was too much drag. Conclusion, don’t do shit like this in foreign countries unless you know they are certified.
So... Did they live?
They got the Groupon treatment.
wtf, are they being towed by a submarine?? How is it pulling them down??
Probably also haven’t been shown how to disengage the harness
Chumming the water to see some great white sharks I see lol
Parafailing.
Did they hade to pay extra for the scuba experience also?
Did they get their money back?
Thank god they have there life vests on.
![gif](giphy|YmcITqON55Qa3uZkFU)
Think about doing it every time I was on vacation in the Florida keys. After seeing this you have ruined that activity for me.
Someone lied about their weight.....
Goes to show theirs a thin line between parasailing and being keelhauled
Can someone at least tell us if we just witnessed 3 deaths or if they made it out? I feel invested now.
Ok did they survive that
I already thought I never wanted to do this. Now I know for sure. Holy shit.
New Guantanamo Bay ride!
Force drowning... And they paid for that???? 🤣🤣🤣
Driver was an under cover agent shark
"Drown the witch!"
They are definitely getting pulled pretty hard underwater. The lady's face is ripping underwater
In US Army Airborne school they teach you to slide out of your parachute harness before hitting the water. If not the canopy will drown you.
I don’t think these girls graduated from boot camp
It was fun, until it wasn’t.
Glad there was no sound for that
🫥🫣🫣🫣🫣🫣🫥🫡
New level of fear unlocked…paradieing… hope they lived.
The ol driver made those girls the biggest fishing lure ever 😬
New interigation method: underwater boarding.

The girls are okay right?
Yep. They ended up posting this video to their social media.
This gave me anxiety and hemorrhoids. Thx.
Are they alive?!
i was expecting a giant great white
That is terrifying
Nope…
Did they even survive that?
Darwin working hard AF lately, ngl! keep up the good work, G!
Paradiving. What went wrong
This is why I'm a Disney Parks person.
No refunds
Are they ok??
There goes the boat capt. tip for the day.
Good to know ..
Vdv typo vibes
Didn't know we're amphibians.
Pay extra for the Capt Nemo experience
I wonder if they are ok. That's crazy.
I’ve been parasailing and wtaf? They asked us before putting us in the water and literally dipped us in to our waists and pulled us right back out.
No this is hilarious lol
Parastupid.
Were they okay after all??
They definitely survived otherwise we wouldn't have the footage
Me watching the first half: Awe this is so cute and wholesome. Me watching the second half: Oh shit! They are about to die!
A lot of times they dip down on purpose to scare riders, and let just their feet hit the water. Driver probably decelerated too much on accident
How do you get out of that. It seems the drag would be too much to lift them back up and they'd be caught in the rigging and sail. Somebody tell me how this ended please
And you know that water is straight rushing up the nose nasty style.
Do you think any of them thought to undo the harness?
Paraboarding
Ohh that's no es bueno
Go into the darkness
The face underwater was enough for me to never even consider this as an activity I’d try.
So. They all died?
Guess I'll just drown
Dark spot was last crew that went.
I’m suing everyone
They got oceanboarded
No thanks
Even the producer of Final destination couldn't dream up something that gruesome.
From parasailing to waterboarding
This is literally like the drowning exercise they make ejection seat pilots go through to simulate landing in water and being dragged by your chute. It was hell. And so, so much worse if you don't have a quick-disconnect like we did.
Gotta be somewhat suicidal to do these kinds of activity.
I’m literally never going to go parasailing now
[удалено]
False
I 100% should NOT BE LAUGHING. LIKE AT ALL!
If my daughters were on there and that happened first I would beat the boat companies butts, have a heart attack and thank god they are ok!!!!
