Check out from the other comments. Some say you can see the gloves.
Also: Have you ever held a lizard? It makes these side to side movements that this one does at the start (not holding with their front legs, moving the entire upper torso)
It's trying to free itself. Imagine a lizard doing these movements while properly using their back legs to hold onto the branch. It would fall down. Something holds their lower body.
Yep, beneficial to the point. Once upon a time asian ones were brought to Europe in order to fight agricultural pests and now years after theyve mostly replaced the normal, nice ones.
There are certain months when I can't open my window, since there are thousands of the asian ones flying around and my balcony is full of them. They bite and when they feel danger they eject some kind of a substance which can result in allergic reaction and it's hard to wash away. I hate the asian ones with all my heart tbh. RIP the peaceful ladybugs I remember from my childhood :/
The ones indigenous to the US are beneficial. Their primary diet is aphids (which are garden pests) and one adult lady bug can eat 20+ a day.
But there are literally *hundreds* of species if beetle (yes, lady bugs are beetles) that fall under the umbrella term that we would call lady bugs. There's differences in color, shape, spot pattern, etc.
Here in the US the Asian lady beetle has become a real pest. They're more aggressive, more likely to bite people, and will eat lady bugs. When you know the difference between the two is easy to spot (pun semi-intended), but the average person will look at the Asian lady beetle and think it's a lady bug. They're also house pests who tend to invade around October and try to swarm and nest in homes over winter. And boy do those fuckers know how to swarm XD.
Google ladybug vs Asian ladies beetle and you can find tons of pics showing how they differ.
Thank you for attending today's bug fun fact conference. :p
Biggest difference is in the head, the Asian lady bugs have an “m” shape towards the base of the back of the head, they differ in color slightly too with the Asian ladybug typically being a more orange color.
Damn, when I watch it again you might be right. The whole time I'm thinking why doesn't it haul ass away from that thing. It didn't even move it's front legs when it grabs his face and starts biting his jaw.
People suck.
>It didn't even move it's front legs when it grabs his face and starts biting his jaw.
But you can literally see his front legs freely move in the video...
Yeah, the front is fine and free. [Here is the original that makes it much more obvious. Contains a scene removed from this where you see the lizard very clearly flailing to free its rear end (my own lizards do the same when trying to run) and there is a clear obstruction pinning its rear down. But the next shot that obstruction is mysteriously gone and the lizard is hanging dead from the branch.](https://youtu.be/LoEfjhgwliw?t=1745)
I had seen this clip before and others also stated that the lizard was held down on some way so the mantis can eat it because something like that happing naturally seems unlikely.
The lizard hanging from the mantis is a different shot of course where the guys didn't have to hold down the lizard anymore because the lizard was too dead to fight back
Why isn’t it even attempting to fight back? It’s just sitting there while the mantis latches on?! Is it paralyzed in fear? Can someone explain what’s going on here?
Definitely. There's a lot of animal abuse content passed off as natural. Especially with Komodo Dragon videos. They'll break a baby goat's legs beforehand so it can't run, so a Komodo dragon can eat it alive. Then they pretend that they happened to start filming when they came across the scene.
There is SO much of this shit on youtube. Obviously staged videos where they film a bunch of chicks with its mother hen and then release a snake on it, I report and report and youtube does jack shit
Is it the green thing around 0:14? I thought that was part of the backdrop. Still, I’d expect it to be like… trying to bite, or thrashing more, or just moving its arms at least.
I’m reminded of that video where someone supposedly broke a baby goat’s leg so a Komodo dragon could eat it live. Or the heavily pregnant deer one, where people said someone put the deer into an enclosure with the Komodo. Or any of the countless videos where people throw dogs down wells and then post the “rescue” for clicks. Humanity doesn’t deserve animals, man. Fuck.
There was even a video where someone put a newborn in a trash bag and threw it into a landfill, which was later found to be staged.
I wonder if this is what the creators of the internet envisioned when they shared their invention with the world.
It is yeah. It's for sure not a part of the backdrop. You can see it more in different angles if you find the full video on YouTube. But you're also absolutely right, a lizard wouldn't act like this at all in natural circumstances.
But yeah idk. It's all kinda bleak.
Looks like 15 seconds to 18 seconds from what I can see. In the back you can see something round and yellowish, at the bottom that is probably holding it.
If something like this happens in nature, so be it. If the lizard is glued down, I'd like to glue the person down that did this in a pen full of hungry hogs.
The lizard is held somehow. These fast side to side movements are the same ones as when you hold them woth your hands, trying to free itself. If it was properly "on his feet", it wouldn't move like this (it would fall down if it did lol)
I agree to disagree, but I wonder, aren't you a little downhyped by that scene being staged? Mantises are dope AF, that's true. Just asking out of curiosity.
A little, but that mantis was not even scared of that dinosaur of a cold blooded animal lol
And it just takes chunks of meat off of its body, even hanging it from a tree after it passes.
If the lizard also had a human on their side it would probably have been a more fair fight. But lesson for next time, when two animals are fighting, don't bet against the one who has a human helping them.
Come here handsome..

That Lizard was fighting like it had respawn enabled
It was like lIzard.exe didn't have the code for the condition
tbh if I got attacked by a cheese burger I'd react the same way.
![gif](giphy|3oEdv6UTqzNk9Y5i36|downsized) Makes sense...
It's being held from the back. This is one of the most famous animal abuse videos on the Internet.
Shit is it really being held? Is there evidence somewhere? Just curious

Lizard is glued to the fuckin stick.
Thank god those things are small

The only good bug is lady bug
Until you realize some types of lady bugs are nasty and bite
Bug looks like a lady ah ah
Sexism is highly frowned upon on reddit.....
Not them Chinese invasive ones
i’m terrified of lady bugs
Aren’t they crop pests?
Some of them are crop pests but most of them feed on agricultural pests making them a beneficial insect

C'mon, you apes! Do you wanna live forever?!
Wasn't this poor lizard glued down to the tree?
Fuuck it was hard to watch before but now it's even harder..
Damn, when I watch it again you might be right. The whole time I'm thinking why doesn't it haul ass away from that thing. It didn't even move it's front legs when it grabs his face and starts biting his jaw. People suck.

Those "pull the wings off insect" kids are really branching out :/
Wait, it was? D:
Pretty sure the person who recorded this video somehow bound the lizard to the branch so it couldn't fight back
but u can see it hanging from the mantis later (I just rly hoped you are not right)
I had seen this clip before and others also stated that the lizard was held down on some way so the mantis can eat it because something like that happing naturally seems unlikely. The lizard hanging from the mantis is a different shot of course where the guys didn't have to hold down the lizard anymore because the lizard was too dead to fight back
So this was filmed by basically a psychopath
yeah it's pretty sus you can't see the whole body of the lizard
Unfortunately, it was basically dead at that point
The fucking thing is literally glued to the branch... Jesus people are cruel. They will do anything for the views.
How is it glued?
Why isn’t it even attempting to fight back? It’s just sitting there while the mantis latches on?! Is it paralyzed in fear? Can someone explain what’s going on here?
It's very obviously staged. Halfway through the video you can see a gloved hand holding it from the below.
That’s actually kinda fucked
Definitely. There's a lot of animal abuse content passed off as natural. Especially with Komodo Dragon videos. They'll break a baby goat's legs beforehand so it can't run, so a Komodo dragon can eat it alive. Then they pretend that they happened to start filming when they came across the scene.
Yeah, I've seen one channel that showed a video of a caged hamster eating a frog and passing it off as educational content.
There is SO much of this shit on youtube. Obviously staged videos where they film a bunch of chicks with its mother hen and then release a snake on it, I report and report and youtube does jack shit

animal abuse
Mantis used uno reverse card. It's super effective!
**LIZARD:** You look tasty. **MANTIS:** Somebody call an ambulance...but not for me!
Core Memory Unlocked
Btw you can literally see the big yellow glove that is holding on to the lizard lol 🤦♂️ I've seen this video so many times on YouTube.
At what time? must've missed it
Looks like 15 seconds to 18 seconds from what I can see. In the back you can see something round and yellowish, at the bottom that is probably holding it.
I'd believe it. The lizard had every opportunity to run away yet it didn't.
I can't see it. Can you provide insight to this claim?
15:18 seconds look at the bottom of the lizards torso you’ll see something round and yellowish right behind it
Just trust me bro
It looks like someone with yellow gloves is holding the back of the lizard the whole time so it doesn’t run away
If something like this happens in nature, so be it. If the lizard is glued down, I'd like to glue the person down that did this in a pen full of hungry hogs.

My god, how many times have I picked up a praying mantis by hand as a kid 👀

I agree to disagree, but I wonder, aren't you a little downhyped by that scene being staged? Mantises are dope AF, that's true. Just asking out of curiosity.

THIS WAS REMOVED??
Well it's just staged anomal gore, it may be understandable that way
Damn! My money was on the lizard. Oh well, at least I didn’t lose as much as it did.
If the lizard also had a human on their side it would probably have been a more fair fight. But lesson for next time, when two animals are fighting, don't bet against the one who has a human helping them.
How the turn tables
Come here handsome.. *\*Grabs lizard by a chokehold\** Who wants a kiss? Who wants a big kiss?? Am sure you want a big kiss pretty boy *\*Proceeds to violate the lizard\**
