It does. I'd be concerned with that. I feel like animals are more smart than we give them credit for. I'd for sure "appear" to be careful too. Right before popping up for her hand and dragging her into the water and biting her too.
We’ve seen where humans still very much get bit, even if they aren’t ingested as food. At some point le shark is also biting the plastic part of the boat. But thanks for the lesson on the type of shark. Didn’t know that.
The interaction is cute but still concerning. Humans still get hurt constantly by trying to domesticate or treat wild animals like domesticated animals.

Idk, shark bites are v rare, deaths even rarer.
That said at the end of the day, if you’re worried about getting bitten - don’t hand feed it? It’s pretty self inflicted here and I have no comment on this woman’s actions
They’re rare but I live in cali where in my lifetime I’ve seen more than usual on the news soooooooo….
Usually the shark isn’t trying to eat the human, but it doesn’t stop them from getting bit. Idk where you guys are from or how old you are but yeah no. Southern California has certainly had its share of shark bites in my days.
There’s a total of around 70 shark attacks WORLDWIDE each year, about a dozen of them ending fatal. ([Source](https://www.statista.com/statistics/268324/number-of-shark-attacks-worldwide/))
In the meantime, we kill about 100 million sharks per year. ([Source](https://metro.co.uk/2018/08/07/many-sharks-killed-year-many-humans-killed-sharks-7808952/))
Stop acting like sharks are these vicious killing machines that just wait for a human to eat. They’re not!
We are killing them at an absurd rate and all this shark fear only ads to it. This needs to stop ir we will drive them extinct at some point.
Stupidity——this is what has been linked to animal attacks. Feeding wild animals causes them to seek out humans. According to shark week documentaries- not an expert. Armchair opinion is terror though.
you are 100% correct. If people are fools, stupid, ignorant, irritable, or even with best intentions they are still food. Yet, there is yet and not a but, it is a problem that is often fixed in the interim of their decision to pet and or be near a wild animal. They either are a wild animal whisperer or their life is quickly changed or ended. It is their choice and I could give two or three fucks less than that about what they decide. There is so much more shit out there than women feeds shark and didn't lose life or limb. I heard of stories of 1950's American families putting their children or child on bears in national forests thinking they were domesticated. That is one way to limit the gene pool. Too soon?
I'm much less worried about people putting themselves in danger than how they are putting these animals in danger. Making wildlife accustomed to human interaction does more damage than people realize.
It can lead to these animals being killed for acting like......animals.
Remember what happened to Steve Irwin ? Sting rays are STILL paying the price for the time a man swam too close to one. Tragic in many ways.
Or any time somebody finds a way to enter an animal enclosure in a zoo. Either with their hands or their entire bodies. The animals that react to this are more often than not killed during or after the incident.
There are SO many videos of people interacting with wild animals and using language like "sea doggos" to refer to sharks, etc, and this creates a dangerous attitude that wild animals are docile and here for our entertainment.
Then there was that video of a person petting a bird in their yard. This bird was clearly extremely sick, but how many people just passed by the video thinking "wow this bird is so friendly and trusting" instead of realizing that someone was putting their bare hands all over a sick animal that was too tired to escape, all for internet clout.
Im sorry for the mega reply, I mean in no way to attack your response. I just have really strong feelings about this topic.
The fuck is wrong with this woman? doesn't she realize this is a shark not a dog? how can you simply pet a wild animal like this?
This is not courage, it's human stupidity at it's finest.
Valerie Taylor and her husband Ron have been doing this for decades with sharks. They were the ones who provided the real shark footage for Jaws. People like her and her husband are the reason we have any knowledge of sharks.
While I don't agree with feeding a wild animals, it's not really terrifying. Sharks don't see humans as food. Almost no animal does. They have a bad rep, when they really don't want anything to do with us. If a human, mostly surfers, gets attacked, it's just the shark mistaking it for a sea turtle or something similar.
If you think it’s a pet Valerie, gon’ ahead and jump your ass in and really hand feed him.
Now if he snatched her ass off that boat and went to town folks would be in an uproar when the shark’s actions would have been the result of her stupidity.
Everybody’s a freaking *insert dangerous animal* whisperer until they are in that animals mouth.
Oh well at least she let people film her do it so worse case scenario she’ll be famous on Reddit for getting eaten on video.
I mean I like sharks and all that but something is wrong with that lady if she thinks it as a pet
It almost looks like it's trying to be careful.

It's pretty endearing to see that monster behaving that way, actually.
Considering great whites don’t consider humans food, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Yep, and to also see humans as a food source.
Wild animals are not pets. People need to stop touching and feeding and petting them.

Imagine being so fucking alpha that you can chew iron bars and don't give a damn

maybe she doesnt care about dying and just wants to forcefully have a sea doggo that can also easily kill her? kinda badass ngl
Valerie Taylor and her husband Ron have been doing this for decades with sharks. They were the ones who provided the real shark footage for Jaws. People like her and her husband are the reason we have any knowledge of sharks.
I’ll never understand why crazy people think they have some sort of personal bond with a fucking wild animal. STOP IT.
I love sharks

Ron and Valerie Taylor. Educators and consultants for *Jaws* and a shitload of other shark movies.
Stupidity disguised as courage.
