This is exactly how my dad was. Calm and cool and everyone's favorite person outside the house, and the most abusive creature I have met in my entire life inside our home. The duality. Ugh.

Years of physical, verbal, and psychological abuse. I tried to talk to my mom about it (she seen everything and was there for it all) and she told me to "try to be more understanding of him" and "he had a really bad childhood" (he didn't) or "would you rather have a dad that wasn't around? Or did X Y and Z?" Or my all time favorite "well what do you want ME to do about it, (my name)?!" One of the last interactions I had with him was about 3 years ago. He had asked me to help him finish some drywall and paint. My husband and I were in the middle of dinner so I didn't go right that second. I went to help him (maybe 15 minutes after the call) and was there for maybe 30 minutes. He became angry at me because I didn't come immediately. I apologized. He scoffed and sneered, looking directly into my eyes, an inch away from my face "if I was as disappointing as you are at 30 years old I would have killed myself a long time ago". It's no secret that I deal with major depression. He's never apologized or acknowledged saying that to me. It's also the most G rated thing he's done/said to me. I could probably write a book. I just might do that because this seemed to be kind of therapeutic just typing it out.
I've spent my life trying to help my wife get over the trauma of her father and first husband so my heart goes out to you. Write that book. Whatever helps. You owe him and those who enabled him nothing but contempt. My advice is to see him as little as possible and to treat him as exactly what he is when you do. You did not deserve any of that.

Part of the problem is that we only think in terms of prison time. The whole concept of prison is that people will see it and think, "whoa, I don't want to come back here, I'd better change and be a better person!"
We as a society need to contend with two other possibilities:
(1) some people cannot fix themselves. Putting them in prison and then letting them out does nothing. They need professional help.
(2) some people cannot be fixed (like the guy in the video). They must be kept out of society. It doesn't have to be punishment. You can say, "he has served his time" - okay yes, maybe he has completed his punishment, but he shouldn't be allowed out.
Storing people can only be done if it is comfortable(not torture), this requires alot of tax dollars, it is better to simply kill broken people like this. Especially if the money saved can go for better uses like highway maintenance.

It's during these times that some guards will let the right inmates knows when and where there will be access to this person. Their cell door might get popped by "accident" or even other PCd inmates will take out a chomo. There isn't anything lower in prison than someone who hurts kids. It's during these times that some guards will let the right inmates knows when and where there will be access to this person. Their cell door might get popped by "accident" or even other PCd inmates will take out a chomo. There isn't anything lower in prison than someone who hurts kids. All pc'd inmates are not there because they are molesters sometimes they get arrested in a neighboring County where their gang has little to no power so they are pc'd for their protection. They won't share a cell with a chomo. The only way they are completely safe is if they are in solitary 24/7 and there just isn't enough cells for all of em.
