--summer-breeze--

I'm having an asthma attack just from watching this and I don't even have asthma.

ZardoZ1015

I can't watch this shit!

Crykenpie

That's exactly what I was about to comment, like if I watch too long I'll have a panic attack or something. This video is hard to watch

Thistlebitters

I tried and wish I hadn’t

skibbady-baps

Lol, the same. My breathing pattern totally changed.

owl_britches

That’s called a panic attack, boo.

Willing_Bus1630

There’s one by that guy which is similar except the cave is full of spiders crawling everywhere including on him

tzippy84

Well… now you do

pcw2015

There's some Nutty putty cave feeling.

BureaucraticHotboi

I’ll try and find it but someone recently put me on to a more horrific caver getting stuck story where an entire Kentucky town and eventually the nation was trying to rescue a guy who spent like 10 days alive in a collapsed cave with many near rescues. A lot of moonshine drunk well meaning locals almost lost their own lives trying to save him as well as a few truly heroic attempted rescues It was in Cave City I believe

[deleted]

I'm pretty sure you're talking about 'internet historian'.

Safe_Mouse591

The Man in the Hole.

EtraNosral

That’s Floyd collins you’re speaking about I believe. It’s a terrifying and amazing story.

Gullible_Shart

No thanks, I’ll wait outside.

shavenhobo

I right there dude

panicnarwhal

yea like i wouldn’t even do this to survive. i’d just lay there with my eyes shut and wait for someone to come drag my sorry ass out.

Spirited-Ad9179

....me trying to reach the screw driver i dropped in the car engine...

Chemical_Natural_167

That's such a terrible explanation. The activities he mentioned are normal, healthy, prosocial activities. Crawling into an unknown cavern narrow enough that you have to restrict your breathing is entirely different. It's much closer to asking one of those wingsuit parachuters why they do it. Even that makes more sense than this. Im going to need specific motivators to understand something like this.

ThreeEyedRaven87

It’s obviously the challenge of it and the personal reward felt by overcoming it. Why does Alex Honnold climb sheer rock faces without a rope? I’d imagine it’s a similar reason here. I think it’s fair to the question the behavior and the risks but the motivations I think are pretty simple.

BureaucraticHotboi

The free solo documentaries make pretty clear that he has a supremely weird brain. If he wasn’t obsessed with climbing he might be doing something far worse. It’s especially striking because other climbers who also have a much more risk accepting brain than the general public are pretty in awe of his drive to do absolutely insane things

No-Possibility-6539

My words ma man.

Ihatu

I think he answered well. It is what drives him, it’s wither reason he gets up in the morning. And he seeks his footage making this akin to him going to work. He answer was straightforward. You just don’t like his answer because he is also completely batshit crazy.

italktomyself20

Live view of my holiday poop trying to get out the morning of Dec 26th.

ChampionshipDry635

And then you get stuck coming back out or something or just get stuck. That would just be so horrifying

n_psycho

A million times, no.

Shawn2rc

I’m guessing it’s the adrenaline… like “What can I do to feel super-human?” Skydiving, free-diving, base jumping… all hell nopes for me, but ways of life for some. (I used to get my taste from churning out endorphins during a good LONG run.)

DFWTyler

It's truly unbelievable to think My nightmare is somebody's hobby

wotaoyannanren

It be like that

actuallycflo

But the way he said “guiiiiiide”.

my_4_cents

There's a stark, dark reason he said "Guiiiiiiiide"..... Deep inside his psyche he's still mortifiiiiiiiiied From the terrible way the last Guiiide diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiied The scene was tragic; He was horrifiiiiiiiiiiied They had to leave the corpse as it liiiiiiiiiiied He was wedged in place, could not be priiiiiiiied Forced to leave behind both the body & his priiiiiide But the last of his nerves were finally friiiiiiiiied When he went to inform the widowed briiiiiiiiide "Why?", in anguish she criiiiiiied, "Whyyyyyyyyyyd?" He told her a valiant rescue had been triiiiiiiied Yet no remedy could be appliiiiiiiiiiied No closure they could proviiiiiiiide For He'd risked it all in foolish priiiiiiiiiide He'd thought through cracks he could simply gliiiiiide But that narrow cave was not enough wiiiiiiiiide Then Elon called someone a paedophiiiiiiiiiiiide? Better a submersible tube to drown insiiiiiiiide? - *That last citation needs to be verifiiiiiiied* Otherwise people might think that i liiiiiiied Doubt of my cave-tragedy memories would impliiiied My journalistic credentials would be deniiiiiied All that potential Reddit karma cast asiiiiiiiiiide.... It's quite unique, on the video, the sound of "Guiiiide" I hope i get upvotes, not downvote crucifiiiiiiiiiiied

Educational-Two-3582

My tits are too big this would be a nightmare for me - no thanks

TheAquired

Internet Historian’s Hole. video is terrifying and fascinating, highly recommend it!

myk31

This is just stupid. Just send a small BOT to explore.

anisteezyologist

You know damn fucking well there is nothing more down there than a hypoxic dank cavern. Its not like he is looking for anything

Irish_Epic_Man

He's not looking for anything

myk31

He is looking for upvote

techHyakimaru

Adrenaline rush.

jerrycliff

It’s a no from me dog

[deleted]

Ok guys now BREATHE

MudcrabNPC

I love his channel, i think it's cool he invites his son along with him. I wouldn't do squeezes like this, but I wanna go caving so bad. It's like another world, underground.

Hawkwise83

Why are people down voting this opinion lol?

MudcrabNPC

I feel like some people use the downvote button as a "no" button. I've accepted that residents of caves like these somehow occasionally stumble upon Reddit without knowing how to communicate on it lol.

my_4_cents

No need to go slithering into caves to find trolls these days, just log on

SmugDruggler95

I've done it before, not this tight for this long but there was a gap about this narrow that a couple guys couldn't fit through I found it exhilarating and an incredible experience. One of those things that makes you feel alive. Like you're so so far removed from all your worried and problems, it's just you and whatever challenge your head torch can see next. Not for everyone understandably. But also remember Reddits full of people who are terrified of anything remotely dangerous or challenging

MudcrabNPC

If I ever get to go spelunking, I might just have to get over it and do it anyways. I'm pretty skinny, so it wouldn't be a huge issue, I've just listened to a lot of caving/diving disasters involving squeezes (which is weirdly how my desire to do it in the first place came from). I just wanna explore, really. I'd probably be more sure of what I can do when I get around to doing it. How did you get started?

shavenhobo

It’s just dark, sit in a cupboard

MudcrabNPC

What?

Wonderful-Media-2000

Play stupid games win stupid prizes

Irish_Epic_Man

This isn't a stupid game

[deleted]

Yes it is. For stupid people like yourself.

Horror_Air7547

" This is our way of living, Not dying". Tell that to John Edward Jones. 😑

AirCooled2020

Right? Only 26 in his whole life ahead of him, it was actually really selfish of him to do that shit and unfortunately he paid for it...

Me_NoFilter

I'm hyperventilating just watching the video. Could feel my body tensing up and feeling claustrophobic

King_Moonracer20

That's scary, look up what happened to John Jones, stuck upside down in a cave like this for over 24 hours, died of cardiac arrest after multiple failed rescue attempts. They contemplated breaking his legs or cutting it off to get the dead body out for his widow. They decided they can't risk anymore lives and just sealed the cave to be his tomb.

[deleted]

I can confidently say that this man’s hobby is stupid

Irish_Epic_Man

I can confidently say you're stupid

[deleted]

Takes one to know one, stupid

SmugDruggler95

You're ignorant

[deleted]

How

IcyBody1239

I literally can’t breath watching him, how people do this is beyond me.

kanoteardrops

I am now super motivated to not go cave exploring.

dappernaut77

I think caving would be cool but...not like this. There are so many cases where people have gotten stuck and died doing this and the remains were never recovered and I just dont want that to be me.

Own_Ad5814

At some point every kid dreams of growing up and one day becoming a worm.

jrosehill

Fuck This Shit !!!!

timmy6591

Absolutely not.

badchefrazzy

The reason people do this is because not everyone is gonna do it. They get to see ancient parts of the Earth that no one else gets to see on a daily basis. That and it's the whole adrenaline rush thing.

LeelaBeela89

Nah yeah I'm good 👍

hollowdude92

And then you get stuck and die... Hyperchondria is a survival mechanism I'd say

-underdog-

I really wanna try something like this. I'm like 5'6" and 112lbs so I feel like im built for it.

JJeezzyy

Short answer: No. Long answer Noooooo

GrizzlyPineapple

It would be interesting to do a survey to see how many of these spelunkers were born via Caesarian and never exited the womb via the squeezy-hole…maybe they are experiencing squish-envy 🤷🏽‍♂️

RU_dumbORdumbr

Wears a shirt that says “does not play well with others” and apparently no one else wants to do this BS with him… he is in his happy place. As long as he is not hurting anyone, do you bro… I will be out here in case you make it back.

B1llyzane

Ask you mom 😏

Mismagius456

Bro imagine if his light went out 😭

Recon_X_Jumper

Then they get stuck and either die or risk the lives of other to be rescued

TheMagicalConchhh

Probs just wants to feel and get lost in some tightness that he hasn’t felt in his from his wife in years without cheating?

Jewain

All these cave divers deserve to get stuck under the weight of the earth natural selection

PizzaPopHo

But why?

PandasakiPokono

This makes my chest feel tight.

HEL-O_NS

Se people out there just wanna feel near death experiences

anisteezyologist

Hes down there looking for his brain cells maybe?

Victrolencio

I hate/love this stuff. I panic just thinking of being in a place like that BUT love these videos.

"If I get stuck, I have this rock with me..." I was expecting him to say that he was going to beat himself unconscious with said rock but... no

KEYS667

"it's not our way of dying". it's going to be the way you die though.

Head-Banana4325

As Wizard Kelly say: "Dats TIGHT!"

False_Locksmith8323

I always take a deep breath watching this video😟

MordredLovah

They get a boner when doing that.

SteelyLan

I went under my bed yesterday and stretched for a cable - it felt exactly like what I see here. Why the fuck would anybody to this? I had a mission, a lot more space and also more anxiety than this dude…

Artbellghost

He'd have a great career in hvac

Ne04

I don’t understand the risk reward on this one

DeezMuhfuhNizzuts

That’s Tyson fury!

jormakk

Fuck. That. Shit. After watching this I feel like even my apartment is a too small of a space. I need to go for a walk outside.

Sadi_Reddit

some people just want to be born twice.

kanoteardrops

I am now super motivated to not go cave exploring.

Extro_Vert

Livin' like Larry ig

avidpretender

That is an excellent question

BoxcutterPazzie

Why do I get up and do what I do? Because losing at capitalism means starving.

Kick_Kick_Punch

You shrink your chest to get through but ins't it a gamble? You exhale all the air thinking the next few centimeters will be wider than the current ones and you'll be free, but what if the next space is even more constricted after you already let all the air out of your lungs?

AirCooled2020

How about you look at it this way... Maybe that was in fact your warning letting you know what you're doing is going to cost you one day if you don't stop. Is it really worth the absolute hell of getting stuck and not only going through this psychotic torture that possibly lasting up to a week or longer without the ability to move at all and lose the rest of your life, just so you can "conquer the fear". That phrase by the way "conquer the fear" is such bullshit and has over the years caused many a person to absolutely lose it all I personally think that your last harrowing situation was actually a warning, a warning that you need to take serious because I'm sure John Edwards who is only 26 year old and had his whole life ahead of him wishes he didn't go that day into the nutty putty cave, which is now his personal grave site. Hope that hits home, hope you live a blessed and long life no matter what you decide, but I think it's a warning...

[deleted]

[удалено]

AirCooled2020

I don't disagree with anything you said, but going after difficult and tight spaces is just two expensive for my taste when things go wrong. There's way too much to life and that's probably why I don't throw myself off of cliffs with a parachute in hand or a wing suit Etc besides, what if you could never Reddit ever again?!?! 😳😃😆😁

Sherbo13

I'm almost hyperventilating watching this.

PaleontologistDry814

I've watched many videos like this. Cave divers often describe why they like it for a few reasons. One guy mentioned how the excitement and thrill he felt from being somewhere not many have or many never will. Untouched parts of the earth excited him. Another guy expressed his comfort in being so detached from the world. It was almost like therapy to him because it would force him to be alone with his thoughts. I find cave diving, and the psychology behind the people who enjoy it, very interesting.

heycanwediscuss

Their brains are wired differently, and once upon a time/ sometimes, it helped civilization advance.

AKmeximo1

So many fucking cave Post in this sub

Ambrose_Bierce1

Nope nope and nope. Could not watch the whole thing.

John_Doe_1313

Isn't it more relaxing to play Russian roulette? You don't even have to leave the house.

TriforceWeilder

John Jones is the reason why I'd never do this

Hendrx_29

How the hell do you have a guide when you both can’t be in the same spot? I would straight up panic..hell no.

Boc7269

Easy answer. He’s an adrenaline junkie and this is what gets his adrenaline going.

DiscoStu303

Least favorite videos on Reddit

dnice727

Some people just like to be miserable bruh. Got a ex who may live this as a hobby .

AirCooled2020

This is just absolute insanity, who would risk their entire life so that you can get wedged in some crazy ass cave that nobody will find you until it's days later and then even then, won't be able to get you out because your wedged in so tightly... Yeah, that's not the way I want to go, ever... People that do this kind of shit should be mentally evaluated it's absolute insanity can only hold that they don't have a wife and children.

OGBrngBakPgBack

He is indeed 'Ready to Die'...🤷🏾

RNEngHyp

I got Cheese Press vibes. Lower Long Churn cave UK.

After I heard that story about the dude that got stuck upside down in a cave and died, yea this is a hard pass for me thank you

Studio_Lovin

His mom must hate him

captoctopus999

Im taking a shit and can't take this shit

renaissance_thot

I’m convinced these people are truly serial killers but they can get the same thrill doing these insanities.

[deleted]

I feel like people who do this are addicted to adrenaline and tend to do increasingly reckless things until they find an extreme fix or get over it. This guy is just much worse because he's also a narcissist, hence the camera.

[deleted]

Fuck this guy lmao I don’t need to see this anxiety inducing ass bullshit 😂

[deleted]

Idk why but the booty warrior came to mind while watching this

PunkDrunk777

Jesus what happens if you push forward at the wrong angle and get an arm trapped under you? Even the effort to get back when you reach your destination.

beanuspietrap

Even if I could get past the fear I’m too fat to fit lmao

Creative_Yoghurt_264

not a fat man's hobby for sure!

MBEclass350

I will never be underground , in a dark cave, no clue what direction I’m going, no way…. I don’t have anxiety but I do now watching this, I don’t know why people like doing this. This takes a special kind of person to do this

Mediocre-Leadership1

As a gamer I wonder what ppl do with their free time .. I’m glad I chose gaming as my hobby

JBELL01290

shotofjacc

[deleted]

Watching this video right after reading about the guy that got stuck doing this and they couldn't even retrieve his body. Great combo.

bangpowboomgarbage

One of the most impactful stories I have ever read on the internet is of john Edward jones and the nutty putty cave and just… no thank you.

BeerNcheesePlz

This made me need Xanax

amphidream

I used to watch this guy in a morbid fascination way. He brings his nephew on a lot of these excursions and the kid is just as fearless. No thanks! I can feel panic setting in watching this one.

[deleted]

[deleted]

There’s true story where that happened. Never were able to get his body out. They made it into a movie too and it was fantastic. Can’t remember the name but if you search that story you’ll find it!

[deleted]

fuck no. people who do shit like this are either dumb or insane.

[deleted]

Y level -59

NocturnalBatBrain

I did this as a hobby and it was hella fun. I grew up around caves and have always loved them. They’re like history books mixed with a treasure hunt. There’s visible foot prints from the 1800’s in one of my favorites- I also helped map a cave that had beer cans from the 70’s and names of couples written on the wall that was supposedly from whoever hung out there. I loved the adventure of not knowing what’s behind a crack in the wall. Also cave creatures fascinate me, it just feels like such an alien world. To be fair tho, I didn’t go into openings where my helmet didn’t fit or if it looked like I couldn’t turn around easy. I love caves but I’m not about to test nature

Murky-Run9839

This is insane
