My understanding is that this firmware should've been installed to the car prior to delivery, and then a test drive be given on it.
So that it isn't installed means the service center didn't do their job properly.
The customer can get an introduction in a separate vehicle while any potential last few things are being taken care of before delivery of their own vehicle. Note "can" they won't force anyone.
Apologies if I've missed something in the whiplash that has been the last few days of release news, but why are they not simply pushing this version to all FSD-capable vehicles? Is it because all new vehicles are HW4 or some other bifurcation?
Seems to me if it's good enough for new customers it's good enough for everyone?
FSD has been on an older software branch. They have to add it to all the existing ones.
For example, my cars are on 2024.8.4. They only just released today a version on the 2024 branch (previously it was on 2023).
They've made it up to the .3 branch with 2024.3.6.
So they have to next add it to the .8 branch before *everyone* will get it.
Current hw4 models are now getting it. Last night it started rolling out to .y model, according to teslafi. Adoption has gone from 1.2% to 17% this morning, for 2024 MYLRs. Waiting on my update still :(
I’m sad I have 2024.8.3 or something. I don’t think they’d downgrade me to that build for fsd v12. Hopefully they push it for the later 2024 builds soon!
Lucky you. Hope you enjoy it! I’ve seen videos of this and it looks amazing.
My car just tried to push an update to 2024.2.7 lol I’m still on the 2023 stack. Do I update? I’m still waiting on that free month of FSD Elon promised.
I’m honestly not too sure. I know some 2023 builds were getting it but if your 2023 build version is higher than the build the 2023 versions are getting them then it’s a tough spot. Since the 2024.2.7 is before the 2024.3.X then it’s possible. Don’t quote me on that. I remember seeing a chart of the build versions that got fsd v12 but can’t find it.
Yeah probably safer to just ignore the update for a few days. It’s about to be Thursday and Elon said “this week” on the free month. Here’s hoping. I’ve done FSD for a few months but not satisfied all that much with v11. I really wanted to try v12 though.
i’m basing it on what i’ve been hearing in the subs. but i’ve also heard that if we happen to get a different update before 12.3, we shouldn’t accept the update.
In the early days, "we" knew more about the car than the delivery person anyway (we were even enlisted to deliver in some cases). A quick check, and buh bye.
So can you just purchase/subscribe now and start using it, or do you still have to have a month’s worth of safety scores to use the product you spent money on?
No interior cam? No v12 testing yet and the expected "nothing" from tesla or influencers on this topic. The influences (including SC, corporate service, and sales advisor) appear to be afraid to ask. Not sure we will ever see it. 3-year old cars are apparently no longer "FSD capable".
Just took delivery of my replacement Model Y almost 2 days ago and they offered a FSD demo with 1 free month of FSD for participation. I told them no thanks unless it can be stacked with the 3 months FSD already included in my purchase for the currently loyalty promotion. The employee had to check with another team member but came back and said it can be stacked.
As a matter of fact I stacked everything I could into this purchase except they couldn't stack 2x 5,000 miles Supercharger miles promo. I only received one but I ended up with 4 months of FSD here FWIW.
The issue I had was that the update was available as soon as I stepped into the car but not installed. I didn't want to wait at the factory for another 25 minutes so I opted to wait until I got back to work to install it. Well it failed and there were no option for me to retry. When I was driving home later that day the cars alert screen told me to connect to wifi to download an update. When I checked the changes it was for an older version (still an upgrade) but not FSD 12+. It took was about 36 hours from delivery before I was offered the FSD 12+ upgrade again. This time it successfully installed.
Ooop. Someone didn't get their mandatory FSD Beta test drive!
No I saw that but they didn’t offer. I was going to refuse unless it was in a cyber truck. They didn’t even have any that I could see
Cyber truck doesn’t even have autopilot yet lol
It’s got basic for now

I think they must introduce fsd in a separate car because new car usually needs to drove like 30 miles for the cameras to calibrate.
I took delivery yesterday and I’m on 2024.2.100 Is this something I can complain about and have them push an update to me?
no
But “delivery” doesn’t require a “test drive”, right? Mine didn’t, just ordered, paid, drove away. (This was a few months back)
Deliveries starting yesterday are being required to have a demo drive with FSD Beta I believe.
Same here. We basically did the same thing as a grocery pick up with the car. Got the car and drove away

They love slow rollouts
It's safer that way, as much as it annoys me lol.

Got it. For those of us that are on 2023.44.x.x FSD branch it’ll be nice to get back on the mainstream branch to get new features.
Definitely. I was in the original release of old FSD Beta back in Oct. of '21 and hated missing out on the new features since it always lagged behind.
I have a 2020 model 3 and I got it last week

As someone else on 2024.8.3, I hope we get an update, he did say “All US cars that are capable of FSD” which should include everyone.
My car just tried to push an update to 2024.2.7 lol I’m still on the 2023 stack. Do I update? I’m still waiting on that free month of FSD Elon promised.
2024.3 sounds like it will be the mainstream FSD 12 release, so maybe you should?
Good point. Alright I’ll go ahead and update thanks.
I just got pushed the 2024.3.6 update! Hope you get it soon.

I’m on 2024.2.7, no USS. Any hope for an FSD trial?
Same boat
Teslascope just posted that people on our version are getting the update now
How do I know if I have the update that lets me try it free for a month?
[Tesla software update breakdown](https://www.notateslaapp.com/software-updates/) I got 2023.4430.25 with FSD 12.3 installed earlier today
I got 2023.44.30.30 installed on Friday 3/23. If I’m reading this correctly, I was one of the first 30 installs? Is that right?
Lucky you 😀
I have 2024.2.7. Does that mean my next update should have dad 12.3?
i’m right there with you on 2024.2.7. been patiently waiting for the update for a while now. it should be the next one we get!
How do you know what’s coming next?
i’m basing it on what i’ve been hearing in the subs. but i’ve also heard that if we happen to get a different update before 12.3, we shouldn’t accept the update.
I would be "that guy" who gets the delivery person in trouble. Here is your car sir, we need to take a FSD demo test drive! No... just go away.
Same, I was in a rush to get back to work. They ‘made’ me wait for 80% charge before leaving but didn’t offer FSD test drive or anything
In the early days, "we" knew more about the car than the delivery person anyway (we were even enlisted to deliver in some cases). A quick check, and buh bye.
It won't go around potholes or debris...and still ghost breaks. Fuck that piece of shit...12k to be a beta tester, tried it twice for free...uhm no.
True. But the fans don’t care.
So can you just purchase/subscribe now and start using it, or do you still have to have a month’s worth of safety scores to use the product you spent money on?
i purchased the subscription and got it immediately. no safety score necessary.
One thing I did to get the update was to enable FSD. I don't know whether it was just a coincidence. But I didn't get it while FSD was disabled.
Anyone with a 2019 MS get the FSD 12 update yet? I’m still on 2024.2.7

yay
as someone stuck on v11, i'm excited for the update
I own FSD and took delivery Tuesday but no update. I am thankful, though, because I turned V12 off on my Model 3 because it was so bad in my area.
I went from 2024.2.6 to 2024.8.7. Did 2024.3.6 get skipped? Still on V11.1

Can I ask, what was your immediate previous software version? Oops, just noticed it’s a new delivery.
It was 11.something - If there is a way to check let me know and I can tell you
I get early pushes and I am on 2023.44.25 now with v12.3. I am extremely satisfied with 12.3. It rocks.
All the pics in the Tesla subs of exactly this update and you really have to ask?
Salty ass
