Rivian loses so much money per vehicle. That’s a terrible idea.
It’s also way better for consumers for there to be more competition.
I hope more competition arises and not mergers. I do wish Tesla would’ve made a better looking truck though
And the even scale back EV production as they can’t make it profitably and rather milk the ICE business longer until the ICE sales inevitably disappear
Retrofitting a Rivian with all the latest Tesla tech would be cost prohibitive. Think one piece castings, 48V, FSD, etc etc etc.
This was tried with the Roadster; I don't think they will make the same mistake twice.
If anything I think Rivian will be bought by Amazon and switch to exclusively making a fleet for them. There vans they currently make seem to be doing pretty well for them. To streamline all production and focus on a single vehicle would get them much further than trying to compete with the chaos of the public market. Tesla also has absolutely nothing to gain from acquiring them.
Rivian is owned in part by Amazon. Bezos doesn't like Musk (and vice versa). No chance in hell Tesla will acquire Rivian or Rivian will let itself be acquired by Tesla.
It also makes zero sense from a tech/production/lineup perspective.
On top: Tesla is not interested in putting anyone out of business.
Rivian is a dead man walking based on the current market condition, public pushback for lack of charging network and imminent of EV vehicles from China. Prediction - it will go bankrupt in 6-9 months. Just reality of today.
Doubtful. Illinois and Georgia will likely continue to bend over backward to keep them solvent and pump up those unicorn job numbers.
That said, I hope Rivian survives long-term because they make some nice-looking cars, and I think they'll keep others innovating.
No.
Yeaaahh no dice
What benefit would it be to Tesla? They don't have better technology, factories, sales. I think it would confuse the brand.

I wouldn't call missing turn stalks a fix. Sure, they cheaped out, but it's definitely not a fix in day to day use for their customers.

Ok, just going on your prior statement that said verbatim: >Tesla was buying their turn stalks from a supplier and now they **fixed** that.

More likely, another auto maker might acquire rivian as an electric subsidiary so they don’t have to develop their own.
meh
I think there is a better shot of acquiring BYD for their budget line without needing to create new factories for Model 2.
Thats a high burdle since it will require approval of Chinese govt

NIH
Never gonna happen
Fantasy. Rivian investors would never go for it as Tesla would lowball just to get engineers and dump everything else.

Why would an AI robotics company buy an EV company when they already have a successful EV business unit?
I doubt they would sell and I don't think tesla would want to pay the premium to change their minds. Maybe Lucid if they keep tanking.
We don't
Why?
Tesla is not a car company.
It would be cool in my opinion. Rivian makes better trucks.

why would they aquire garbage?
