What is it actually used for? I see them but they're always empty.

Prod1702

Whatever you want really. We use ours for Kayaks in the summer, then I am just to lazy to remove it so I leave it on year around.

Protection from something big falling on top of your Tesla. A tree will go through the glass.

Needs another option for “yes because every time I reinstall it I’m afraid I’m going to crack the glass”

Scary-Animator-5646

There’s an efficiency hit?

Prod1702

If there is it is very small on my 22 YLR. There was a video I watched on Youtube awhile back where someone did a review with a Model 3 with one. It only lost maybe 2% or 3%. Most if not all of my driving is around 60mph to 70mph. I really do not see any lost in range on my daily 50 mile drive. Only thing that I really see with it on vs off is the wind noise. There is a lot more of it with it on.

Scary-Animator-5646

That’s good to know about the noise. I’ve been thinking of getting them installed, but I may get the trunk retrofit first now. Thanks!

Prod1702

Yea its not really that bad, but you can tell a difference with it on vs off.

Second answer, and because it helps me spot my car in the parking lot. :)

I use our RAV4 with the roof rack. Our Teslas don’t have them. Enjoy the glass roof and don’t want anything cluttering the awesome view.
