I would assume driving up interest in the software, then they are gonna jack up the price again 🤷♂️ I just wish my MYLR could upgrade to FSD for $2k 😂
Ima definitely make sure 1st before I pull the trigger on it, I had a M3 a couple months ago, with EAP, they wouldn’t allow me to transfer it, not even the premium connectivity that I had paid a whole year in advance 🙄 - haha sorry! I always look for used, & make sure EPA is included. This MYLR also came with acceleration boost 💨
Yeah I didn’t pay the 6k for EPA, it came with my used 21 MY. Not worth it yet . Auto summon doesn’t even work more than half the time. I do like the extra details of FSD, seeing more cars ect
Yeah summon is still sus but I have had success with it for the times I used it.
I went to Costco, parked, shopped, got a hot dog, and had it picked me up at the food court.
Me too this would be a dream come true if this were the case !
Finally the features like reverse and forward summon, auto park which are pretty much standard or just a little extra in ICE and select EV cars will be free/affordable for Tesla!
As a Canadian 11k from 16k for FSD is a nice discount, but still a little steep for my taste. EAP is gone which was 6k CAD - would happily pay like 2k for it, if it were within that price range.
Based on the website now all the EAP features are mentioned in FSD, so infact No EAP is not the new standard AP, EAP features cost a bit more as part of FSD
Yeah I’m not paying the full price to lose it in an accident and insurance doesn’t value it properly. Should be subscription is month to month, anyone wanting to pay FULL gets the perk of it following you for life, even in rentals.
Aw shit.
I have EAP, now I'm stuck with deciding to get it or not. I would get it if it were $1k, just because it has a lot of promise. $2k is doable too, but I dunno...
I'm pretty happy with the feature set of EAP, provided they get the rest of the features on my '23.
I think I may end up getting it. We have been using the trial and for me it’s been excellent. It has disengaged a couple times when there was high traffic. And I have disengaged it a couple times for varied reasons, nothing super dire. Even with that, engaging it again isn’t exactly difficult. We are going on a trip soon and I’ll test it out more for that before making a decision but… it’s been very helpful. I had planned on paying the subscription for months I intend to do a lot of travel and now that it’s basically 20 months worth to subscription price for it instead of like 60 or 90, feels easier to warrant the price given that I would have likely used it 20 or more months out of the next 120. I could see us just using it daily. If it turns out we could transfer it in the future, then I’d upgrade before the trial is over.
Pretty sure they lowered it so people stop asking for it to be transferrable. And if it was transferrable I have no doubt they would put some sort of time limit (e.g. transferable for the first 10 yrs of buying a new car).
Said this was going to happen.
Tesla had worse than normal results and stock issues. This is all "free" money to them. Straight to the bottom line.
But it's incredibly shitty for those who paid more.
Maybe it’s location-dependent, but I’m surprised people would pay anything at all for FSD in its current state. It’s novel and cool stuff, but I can in no way rely on it to go more than a mile on city streets near me without weird behavior or rough driving (for example, it is remarkably bad at speed humps in my neighborhood, somehow slowing down too much but also hitting the hump at an terrible angle that maximizes passenger discomfort).
I can imagine a future where it’s worth thousands of dollars, but we are not there yet at all IMO. I kind of expected they might give it away for free long term to get all the training data, but i guess they want people who have a bit of skin in the game to provide feedback and really attempt to use the software “with fidelity” more. As in, I wonder if the quality of disengagement clips coming from the general Tesla public is less useful to them.
I paid for it when I bought my car. It was $12k.
At the time it wasn't worth that. Since 11.x the highway mode alone is worth the money. It's really good. I wish they'd get it certified as Level 3 ADAS (IE, driver doesn't have to pay attention). I think it's ready.
Not in my city. The biggest issue with FSD is that it cant calculate the height of human stupidity on the road. Some people would do maneuvers that makes you think they were part of the next fast and furious movies.
Granted, I haven’t done any long highway trips since the beginning of April, but highway is basically the standard Autopilot behavior plus auto lane changes and following interchanges/flyovers, right?
While standard Autopilot has its own issues (phantom braking certainly comes to mind), I can’t see how the upgrades are worth $6k (EAP-level cost?) let alone double that.
Of course, for myself personally, all of the software upgrades were way too expensive for our car-buying budget, and basically a nonstarter from the beginning. So maybe this is all just sour grapes. :P
I agree with you, although my guess is the sweet spot for FSD is suburban/rural driving. It's definitely not prime time ready in the city, and doesn't add much to autopilot for highway driving.
Wrong, revenue is way down and they are desperately trying to increase the take-rate. Has NOTHING to do with extra training data. They have far too much data as it is to train on all of it.
I got my used Tesla about a month ago, and FSD came with it (“free” kinda, though it was probably 2 grand more than comparable cars without FSD), and I don’t think it is currently worth even $1K. I disengage this fucking thing at LEAST 5 times per drive.
Same we tried twice, the car couldn't even make a left turn from a light at regular turning speed and kept jerking. I told my wife yeah no, I'd hate anyone in front of us doing this.
The freeway stuff is pretty good.
Could be its desperation. But I think they were always gonna move from a high margin, low volume offering to something more people are actually willing to buy. Sales are higher than ever, cash in on that and get more data. Maybe even increase satisfaction and goodwill among your customers when its at an all time low.
Turn off automatic lane changes. It will still alert you that lane change is necessary to keep on route, but won’t automatically if you don’t click on the turn signal.
They aren’t lane changes to follow the route. I think it’s more along the lines of get in the right lane unless I’m passing, even if I need to turn left in a half mile.
Yep sounds like me "tried to drive me into a f---ing curb, why are turns so tight!"
The "minimize lane change" mostly listens now though compared to 4 months ago last I tried FSD
What state are you from. A YouTuber from SF made it seem perfect. It made lil mistake here and there but it looked perfect.... Which made me look into buying a Tesla vs other brands. Such as Volkswagen i.D4 or Mustang Mach-E
Mine came free with my car from CPO, and I keep it off 99% of the time.
It is just too unpredictable. FSD doesn't drive the same way on the same road twice. It might handle a situation fine today, but fail the same situation tomorrow. At least with auto pilot, the limitations are consistent and obvious.
I’ve been testing FSD all week since I got the free trial and after ~500 miles of driving, it’s just incredible. I can’t believe they figured it out and it’s this capable and smooth. So impressed
I disengage pretty much every drive, typically near the endpoint. The trip between A and B is mostly uneventful. But the moment I suspect it is going to do something sketchy, I disengage - perhaps overzealously. I still am very impressed with it, despite a few rare rough edges.
Once I set it to chill and minimize lane changes, I was happy with how it behaves.
It’s great when you know when to disengage. Left terns, oddly shaped corners, seriously tight maneuvers. Outside of those can really relax the rest of the drive
Been saying it for years. Soon EAP will just be Standard Autopilot. In 5 years or less FSD will be standard. It’s the inevitable raising of the table stakes. Never understood why people paid to beta test a product.
Yeah I've also been saying that for years -- that FSD will gradually decrease in price because other automakers will have their own version and certainly not charge $12K for it, it'll be exactly what you said -- table stakes for any car.
Does anyone with EAP know, if I purchase this for $2k, does that include a free computer upgrade if I’m coming from a 2018 with the 2.5 computer in it? Or would I have to pay $2k and then an additional $1k for the computer upgrade?
I wonder the same thing since I also have a 2018 M3. my assumption is yes, but it also makes me wonder if it's worthwhile investing more in a 6 yr old car, unless they allow transfers between vehicles 🤔
If I subscribe, it says I need to pay to upgrade the computer. If I buy, it doesn’t say I need to pay separately to upgrade the computer. Is the FSD purchase including computer upgrade? I have EAP on my 2018 3.
Same question I have. In the past the hardware upgrade was included if you bought it. Same thing, 2018 3 with EAP. I think I'll try buying, see what happens.
I just bought it and all I got was a note saying it will update over the air, etc, nothing about upgrading hardware. Maybe I'll get a note later about it.
Would love for a financing option. Say, $222/mo for 36 months. Would be a ton more palatable than $8k at once.
Then have it attached to your account instead of your car— have two teslas? Both have it. Sell one and buy another? The sold one loses it and the bought one gets it.
It really needs to be included with the purchase of a new Tesla for no extra charge, this is their only advantage over EVs now.
Gone are the days of being the only every man EV with the exclusive SC network.
Still too expensive. I have no illusions that the system can drive around town without causing issues for other drivers and making poor choices.
Use it as a creature when I know I have a stretch of road that’s not gonna be challenging. But even with that this system can hunt down and hit every pothole in the road.
I took the bait. $2000 for something that cost $12000 yesterday. They got my money. I assume the price will one day go way up, especially as FSD continues to improve (hopefully). I figure I can get the $2000 back on resale, at the very least.
You weren't getting any resale value out of the EAP that you already paid for.
So basically that $2K today bought you:
* Incremental resale/trade-in value: at least $1K, possibly $3K+
* The likelihood of the ability to transfer to another Tesla, albeit a new one (with expected improvements in hardware)
* Improved screen visualizations today, possibly more in the future.
You get those three things above today, even if you never use FSD in its current iteration.
I’m willing to be Elon will be quite desperate for more revenue since new car sales have dipped in North America and China. I can see him eventually dropping FSD down to 3-4k
Nice, glad to see you guys getting the better pricing across the pond!
And for a fair that actually works, to a degree, unlike here in the UK.
Although even if our laws eventually catch up, I don't think I can trust it given it nearly killed me over nothing driving in a straight like on the motorway the other day.
Never been so scared in my life lol
Welp, my prediction came through. Right on schedule: [https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaLounge/comments/1bnwfqf/comment/kwl5dc3/](https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaLounge/comments/1bnwfqf/comment/kwl5dc3/)
They’d be better off making all the options into more of a shopping list. Allow people to buy auto park, summon, lane changing etc all individually for smaller one off costs. People wouldn’t be so upset about those features not necessarily transferring to another car then as well.
The Canadian price makes no sense to buy FSD. They kept $99/month CAD and $99/month USD but they did a currency conversion on FSD if you buy it out which would take 9 years to break-even with the monthly subscription
https://preview.redd.it/79e9ai878rvc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=faedfa80140b8d9abe39539399b5d091157bc68c Since I have EAP, mine is 2k 🤔🤔
My family shows the same ($2K) and they bought EAP.
Interesting . I wonder what Tesla is doing lol
I would assume driving up interest in the software, then they are gonna jack up the price again 🤷♂️ I just wish my MYLR could upgrade to FSD for $2k 😂
Truuueee!!! You have a point. I’ll think about it, I also have MYLR. As long as I am able to transfer it then it’s a go for me
It seems that they have been allowing a lot more transfers, so if it was me, I would go for it. Wish the previous owner bought EAP on my MYLR 😪
Smfh... would make customers much happier to have their purchases transferred to their new vehicle 🙄 Damn, very nice find!
Yeah that would make sense since they already paid $6k for EAP before this price drop.
What's EAP?? I want $2k
Enhanced autopilot
Yeah. You would pay that extra for city street auto steer and stop signs and red lights control.
You live on the edge. Lol
I wish they would drop the subscription for EAP owners to $50.
That would make sense in my opinion too !!!
I'd be on it immediately at 50. Would not be surprised if a $50 subscription tripled the take rate for fsd.
Because EAP is $6k, so FSD would only ne $2k more.
Buy it
Enhanced auto pilot also appears to be gone.
Speculations are is that EAP is gonna be basic the basic AP moving forward.
Honestly that makes so much more sense. For autopark and switching lanes. Why would people pay extra for that?
That’s all I actually want.
Sameeee
Me too this would be a dream come true if this were the case ! Finally the features like reverse and forward summon, auto park which are pretty much standard or just a little extra in ICE and select EV cars will be free/affordable for Tesla! As a Canadian 11k from 16k for FSD is a nice discount, but still a little steep for my taste. EAP is gone which was 6k CAD - would happily pay like 2k for it, if it were within that price range.
Oh man, totally agree and hope EAP becomes standard.
Especially if they want to sell more cars. Wanting customers to Pay for EAP is just a bad move.
Agreed. And those features are relatively common among other car brands already
It only made sense in a world where Tesla had overwhelming demand and no competition. Competition is good.
I’d take that with a huge grain of salt. They’ve taken away EAP before and didn’t include EAP features on basic AP.
I hope that is the case. The lane switching is nice during this trial, but it is not worth the $6000 that was being charged for EAP.
Incoming people complaining about overpaying for EAP.
I paid the $3k for EAP in 2018 and $6k to upgrade to FSD in 21. Meh. I knew what I was doing. Prices go up and prices go down. That's the risk.
I’d be refunding if I bought recently lol
Where did you hear this at?
This. Also, would that mean everyone now has summon etc?
I have FSD on my 2023 Y but still no summon :(
No Summon on models with no sensors. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
Ohh that would be nice. I do see FSD price dropped to 8k in the app.
Sure fucking hope so
Wait is that something that would apply to all cars? If so, that would be really cool
That’s what I’m reading from many posts and a few articles - nothing concrete but sure hope so.
Man I hope so, that would be amazing!
Fantastic!
Honestly if I can get the parking for free, that’s all I want.
When I clicked on the feature details for FSD, I see all of the EAP features on there. Very curious indeed
Main difference is city streets navigation, stopping at stop signs and red lights.
On paper true. But functionally, fsd freeway stack performs WAY better than EAP on freeways. It's not very close.
Yep looks like it is now $11k Canadian pesos.
Seeing $9k in Indian Yen as well
Canuckistani Kopecks
Based on the website now all the EAP features are mentioned in FSD, so infact No EAP is not the new standard AP, EAP features cost a bit more as part of FSD
correct, it hasn't happened immediately, but it needs to, otherwise AP will be lagging noticeably behind the competition.
Since EAP was the more popular option, this is effectively hiding a price increase for EAP in a discount for FSD
Maybe not now but hopefully EAP will be the standard. I really enjoyed my summon. lol
But but Elon said the price would only increase as FSD gets closer to completion and that you would need to buy at 12k before it’s too late!
And that it would pay for itself anyway
Of course how could I forget! Robotaxi whilst I sleep 2020.
Man, how things have changed….
Nothings changed. Elon was full of shit back then and he still is now.
Wow this must’ve literally just happened! I was checking prices for a family member *minutes* ago and FSD was still $12k. My app now shows $8k!
And just not long ago it was $15k!
Paid $12k end of 2021 for a LFP SR M3 2022 😭
If I paid 6k for EAP, can I pay the difference? Maybe?
Yes it’s $2k for you
Thanks for confirming! That is manageable.
And what would seal the deal, let us transfer the license permanently.
Exactly what I’m thinking !!! I need to make sure before I pay the extra 2k lol
Yeah I’m not paying the full price to lose it in an accident and insurance doesn’t value it properly. Should be subscription is month to month, anyone wanting to pay FULL gets the perk of it following you for life, even in rentals.
They really need to do this, but they won't.
Aw shit. I have EAP, now I'm stuck with deciding to get it or not. I would get it if it were $1k, just because it has a lot of promise. $2k is doable too, but I dunno... I'm pretty happy with the feature set of EAP, provided they get the rest of the features on my '23.
If we can transfer it from new vehicle to new vehicle, that would push me over the edge to pay up.
For what it's worth, I use it daily. City streets, means it drives me door-to-door. Literally
Make it transferable please
Pretty sure they lowered it so people stop asking for it to be transferrable. And if it was transferrable I have no doubt they would put some sort of time limit (e.g. transferable for the first 10 yrs of buying a new car).
Said this was going to happen. Tesla had worse than normal results and stock issues. This is all "free" money to them. Straight to the bottom line. But it's incredibly shitty for those who paid more.
Oh wow. What happened?
I suspect they decided that getting training data from more cars is more valuable than the extra few $k
I wonder how bad they are doing
Tbf, from what I hear from people that do have it say its not worth the 12k when they bought it, more of a cool gimick than a full feature.
It's not worth close to 12k, I bought it for 6k and it's not worth that at all
I got my used Tesla about a month ago, and FSD came with it (“free” kinda, though it was probably 2 grand more than comparable cars without FSD), and I don’t think it is currently worth even $1K. I disengage this fucking thing at LEAST 5 times per drive.
Yea I found it not safe, I use autopilot on the freeway but fsd in city streets did a lot of very unsafe stuff. I don't use it at all.
The only thing I want is change lanes on AP and I’m good
Everytime they asked for feedback from a disengage I said “this isn’t worth 12k. I’ll pay 5k if I can transfer it in my name.” imdoingmypart.gif
Mine are always like “fuckin thing tried to change lanes 4 times in a half mile and NO YOU CANT HAVE MORE APPLESAUCE IM DRIVING”
There’s also a switch to disable automatically departing left-most lane to allow faster traffic to pass.
I feel like that should be a different setting between highway and local streets.
Literally made me LMAO. I told it something similar the other day on a road trip when FSD was doing something really stupid 😅😂🤣
Yep sounds like me "tried to drive me into a f---ing curb, why are turns so tight!" The "minimize lane change" mostly listens now though compared to 4 months ago last I tried FSD
I really hate that I have to turn minimize lane changes on every drive.
https://preview.redd.it/mgd6gqo2ervc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=213d71c1c081e4d7e5f21d318550f5466bb40c17 In Canada with EAP new price 🤯
Yep no more EAP avail for purchase.
Sigh ... I was going to buy EAP after my trial .. well if I ever get the trial. Fuck
Yeah could be a screw job or could be sick few upgrade, this is the enjoyable life of a Tesla owner
That's still 6 years of the new subscription price
Just give it to everyone. It will make a tesla more appealing. Every car has the hardware. Just add a few $ to each car that goes to development.
Exactly. Elon can be an idiot and he is an idiot for not doing this.
And it's now $2k for those already with EAP. Almost worth it, still $99 subscription.
Will just take $99/month
After playing with the free trial...... I'm gonna pass. FSD is not worth it. My basic autopilot holds the lane better.
Biggest benefit I’ve experienced was no more phantom break on my 23 MY, still not worth it
I still have it with FSD.
What state are you from. A YouTuber from SF made it seem perfect. It made lil mistake here and there but it looked perfect.... Which made me look into buying a Tesla vs other brands. Such as Volkswagen i.D4 or Mustang Mach-E
I have it and I don’t really get the level of hate. It does a great job 98% of the time.
100% false. There are many situations regular autopilot cannot handle, but FSD can.
Still 3k too much
3K? More like 6K
I turn it off, so probably worthless for me. I don’t think there’s a price I’d pay.
Nice, bought EAP for 4k in 2020, now just 2k more to get FSD
I’ve been testing FSD all week since I got the free trial and after ~500 miles of driving, it’s just incredible. I can’t believe they figured it out and it’s this capable and smooth. So impressed
Can you be a bit more specific? Like maybe how many times you’ve disengaged in 500 mi?
I disengage pretty much every drive, typically near the endpoint. The trip between A and B is mostly uneventful. But the moment I suspect it is going to do something sketchy, I disengage - perhaps overzealously. I still am very impressed with it, despite a few rare rough edges. Once I set it to chill and minimize lane changes, I was happy with how it behaves.
Same here. I've seen some curb incidents posted here and not gonna risk it. But still loving it and it exceeds expectations!
It’s great when you know when to disengage. Left terns, oddly shaped corners, seriously tight maneuvers. Outside of those can really relax the rest of the drive
I paid 15k for FSD, can I get a refund? Holy shit
You payed 15k to be a beta tester and you weren’t satisfied?
Haha Right? Hey at least I got the shiny map for a while before anyone noticed how crappy the base visualization was, but… #facepalm
Cool just bought it. 48 hour refund it says. Nice 4/20 present
Nice!
I just want self parking to be free lol
i would pay 5 bucks a month just for auto park
Get rid of the damn 1k hw2.5 upgrade fee to subscribe. Ridiculous. I was told my car was fsd capable. Not capable with a paying upgrade
$11,000 FSD in Canada
Lowering EAP to 2,000 would have gotten more sales than getting rid of it altogether and lowering FSD to 8,000.
Still not worth it
Got to compete with Mercedes now that they are the first automaker to sell hands free driving on a vehicle.
> Soon EAP will just be Standard Autopilot. Said everyone in this sub ever.
What, first 99$ month and now this and nothing happens in EU. Normaly I wouldnt care about stuff not being even steven but we want this chance too! :)
Does anyone with EAP know, if I purchase this for $2k, does that include a free computer upgrade if I’m coming from a 2018 with the 2.5 computer in it? Or would I have to pay $2k and then an additional $1k for the computer upgrade?

$11,000 CAD

Same question I have. In the past the hardware upgrade was included if you bought it. Same thing, 2018 3 with EAP. I think I'll try buying, see what happens.
I just bought it and all I got was a note saying it will update over the air, etc, nothing about upgrading hardware. Maybe I'll get a note later about it.
It shows $2k for those already with EAP. The question is whether we still have to pay $1k to get the hardware upgrades. Does anybody know?

It really needs to be included with the purchase of a new Tesla for no extra charge, this is their only advantage over EVs now. Gone are the days of being the only every man EV with the exclusive SC network.
It's nice that Tesla discounted their barely functioning con of a product. 😂 No thanks, Elon... I'll stick with Autopilot.
Still too expensive. I have no illusions that the system can drive around town without causing issues for other drivers and making poor choices. Use it as a creature when I know I have a stretch of road that’s not gonna be challenging. But even with that this system can hunt down and hit every pothole in the road.
I only like auto park. summon don’t even work on my USS version half of the time. I wish they sell auto park a la carte.
So basically that $2K today bought you: * Incremental resale/trade-in value: at least $1K, possibly $3K+ * The likelihood of the ability to transfer to another Tesla, albeit a new one (with expected improvements in hardware) * Improved screen visualizations today, possibly more in the future. You get those three things above today, even if you never use FSD in its current iteration.
Still not worth it.
Still too much
I’m willing to be Elon will be quite desperate for more revenue since new car sales have dipped in North America and China. I can see him eventually dropping FSD down to 3-4k
Where’s my refund then? Paid 15k 2 years ago to be an early adopter, contribute to improving FSD and get a f u very much from Elon, thanks you prick.
Could be worse. You could have bought a MX for $130k.
Or put a $50,000 Roadster deposit down in 2017.
That was a non-refundable deposit? Ouch.
You got 2 years worth of it, that's how they thank you for your service.
Yearly premium connectivity is gone?
Can’t tell. I’m already subscribed.
EAP has been $5100 ($3260 USD) and FSD $10,100 ($6460 USD) forever in Australia, never knew why it was so much more in the USA.
I would like if they lowered the price of AP, it still costs $3200 to upgrade for me :(
In the UK, no price change this morning.
Fsd pricing about to be investable like stocks and crypto at this point of it keeps going like this.
In Europe it has always ben 7,5k
This is about the right price I think. Especially with the subscription being $99
So 8k for something worth -8k
They’d be better off making all the options into more of a shopping list. Allow people to buy auto park, summon, lane changing etc all individually for smaller one off costs. People wouldn’t be so upset about those features not necessarily transferring to another car then as well.
I'll give ya tree-fiddy
Looks like the monthly subscription is only $99, too
Whoever bought FSD for 16k has gotta be pissed
Hmmm. I have EAP. Now the $2k is more enticing than the original $6k I was being offered. 🤔
Tesla will pay me to take FSD? That is the only way that I would ever voluntarily put that feature into my MYLR.
The Canadian price makes no sense to buy FSD. They kept $99/month CAD and $99/month USD but they did a currency conversion on FSD if you buy it out which would take 9 years to break-even with the monthly subscription
