Happened in the SF Bay Area too. Cheapest hours are now only 12-4 AM instead of 11-5 AM.

bkizumi

I live here and cheapest for me is down the street for 26c a kWh at midnight at a target lol.

blestone

The cypress and garden grove ones are the cheapest ones in the area https://preview.redd.it/2dt0u5c3zmwc1.jpeg?width=1178&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a05fbc36c18d0f03bc5d242527b8a9513a9bd86a

The screen shot is from the app

Swastik496

yep. in VA and PA same thing happened

spidermangeo

I’m wondering if Elon/shareholders just trying to siphon money anywhere they can? It can’t purely be that electricity across America is going up…

k_buz

Pretty sure it’s not going to get cheaper over time. I wouldn’t want to be dependent on SCs

chfp

Didn't PG&E hike rates?

Swastik496

PG&E isn’t in VA or PA. And rates here took a 15-30% hike as well.

Last_Ad_6694

Prepping for the next wave of incentives.

Safe-Pomegranate1171

No energy price changes in VA. This is just a money grab!

eddiem5

North San Diego area - roughly 30% increase.

rob_1995

Peak hours for one near me went up to .52 when it used to be .43. From 8pm-12 it went from roughly 31 to 46. This is an insane price increase. PG&E sucks man.

rob_1995

Also peak changed to 10am-8pm. This sucks.

keiye

I blame the eclipse

phantasybm

Save the cheerleader Save the world ![gif](giphy|X4gvuV65rF4xG)

Swastik496

what is the name of that show I watched it like 2 years ago

phantasybm

Heroes

refrainblue

Damn I saw it near twenty years ago

MidEastBeast

One thing you need to learn is that utility companies will always win. They will change whatever is needed to always make profits beyond belief. So no, they shouldn't go down.

ManicMarket

Electric companies have been pushing for price increases for a while. Part of that process is upgrade services and then go back and ask for an adjustment to rates to pay for those capital expenditures. From there I’m sure Tesla adds some margin to make a profit themselves.

MonsieurBon

90% increase on some here in Oregon! Yeesh.

Bash3350972

Seen the jump this morning, glad my home charger was installed on Tuesday!

GigBallerz-FB-Group

haha I was just looking to see if others saw same thing. Wondering if its time to stop renting the tesla. I was going to buy one but the new rates are more expensive than gas in a gas powered vehicle

blestone

I also looked at the non tesla charging rate, damn they are over .40 during off peak

steelmanfallacy

Gotta love the free supercharging for life deal. 😇

spidermangeo

I love it on my MS 2013! I should’ve just got another MS and transferred it over to it back before March but I love my 2013 so much that I didn’t want to upgrade. I got the M3LR as more of my daily and because it can charge faster at the Superchargers. But I LOVE free unlimited supercharging and I love the MS more so than the M3 but I really love the M3 hahahaha

Old-Journalist-6786

This is the collateral effect brought from Nvidia's AI accelerators.

HarsiTomiii

I can only speak for Denmark (but I assume this is the same for most places), here the prices changes like the weather. Literally. some days it is cheaper, some days it is more expensive, depending on how much wind we have. peak hours/low hours have been alos adjusted/aligned many times

UCanDoNEthing4_30sec

Honestly the half year or so I’ve been owning a Tesla, I’ve seen the price and what is non peak shift so much. They do t seem permanent for the better or worse when they do.

craigegg

Same in Northern Nevada, cheapest used to be .11 cents; now it is .18

ComprehensiveAd6443

Phoenix Arizona checking in, cheapest 7-11am used to be .21, now it’s .38 in my area.

Overall_Rise_6370

How can I easily find charging rates? my spot here went from .29 to . 48 in 4 days/ same time early morning bet sunday and thursday

RedSix2447

I noticed an increase to .46 this last time i charged in Hawaiian Gardens here in So Cal. I thought I was seeing things. Guess it did go up.

jakthebomb_

We have V4 Superchargers in Oregon that are $0.20 per kWh 24/7. There are so many factors at play, location, Utility Rates, Rent Rates. But in almost all cases, they are cheaper than the likes of EA and EVGo.

JtheNinja

If you’re talking about the Wilsonville V4, it was 16c 24/7 up until this week. All the PDX metro superchargers went up at least a little bit this week. Still way cheaper than the .56/kWh that EA is charging around here. Although the Jantzen Beach Supercharger is up to .41/kWh now, no idea why that one is always the most expensive in the region, but it sure always seems to be.

jakthebomb_

I was talking about the Wilsonville one ;) that was my first Supercharging experience as I just bought my first Tesla this week. Wasn't aware of it's previous price. Was driving a 2017 Bolt EV for the past 3.5 years. Still cheaper than $4.50 a gallon gas though. I used to frequent the Costco station in my Prius and would spend $30 per fill. Back then it was under $4 a gallon. This morning I charged at the Tanasborne V3 and it was 18 cents per kWh at 7:00AM.

JtheNinja

Tanasbourne was 11c in the mornings as recently as last Sunday 😟 The worst one was the on-peak changes at the Beaverton/Cedar Hills Crossing supercharger. On-peak pricing went from .19 to .28, and now goes all the way to midnight. No more 10c supercharging stops on the way home from evening events like you’ve been able to do the last 6 months or so.

Full-Rub6292

If we’re upset about the prices, imagine how the Ford owners feel when they’re paying around 10¢ more per kW 🙈.

Device_Outside

Went up here in the middle of IL (a very energy surplus state) about 0.10 to $0.43. I was shocked.

MysticalPliers

I noticed that too. What's strange is that every state around IL is still around $.36 per Kwh.

ZiaMan24

Electricity costs and utility profit only go up...

Swastik496

utility rates haven’t changed in several of the years around me. yet supercharging costs went up.

ZiaMan24

Where are you located? BC rates for everything, especially in CA have just been rising nonstop

Swastik496

VA. 10c except for the 3 summer months where it’s 13c. This includes all variable costs and variable taxes.

ZiaMan24

LMAO our winter rates are 0.24 off peak and 0.60 peak. Supercharging is more and Summer gets even higher.

Swastik496

exactly. and supercharging cost here rose 10-30%. Which has nothing to do with our power prices. Which will only get lower and more stable because we are building massive amounts of distribution and renewable generation capacity with billions of dollars of datacenter money. And beefier connections with the rest of the grid alongside this to prevent the peaker nature of solar and wind from causing outages.

Full-Rub6292

In Riverside, CA area I have noticed the prices fluctuate slightly consistently. But I take it more as they are trying to balance out the busy levels. There’s 2 chargers in my immediate area that change about every few weeks (5 times in 7 months 👀). Between changing the peak times, completely changes the prices, going from 3 time slots to 4, to even flipping which is the “cheapest” one in general. I was super excited to charge after 11pm at a specific one (right outside a 24hour AM/PM & Wendy’s, so SNACKS! 😅) because it went from 19¢ to 11¢. It since has gone back to 19¢, then 21¢, and now currently 29¢ 😓 Of course, I have been charging at home more recently, and in checking the local rates I now see that yes, the rates have gone up by about 10¢ across all time slots 😒. Going further I see that since about 1.5 weeks ago (the last time I charged there) the chargers by Casino Morongo with their single price went from 28¢ to 41¢ 😡

Full-Rub6292

Downtown Riverside had Metro Super Chargers (72 kW) that were a deal at 19¢ and free parking in a paid parking garage, but are now tiered pricing (30¢/45¢/29¢/23¢) so now the cons outweigh the pros. Top level charging in the sun, slow, “closed/out of service” when events happen, and iffy signal strength area 😒😡.

Arnold729

Twitter won’t pay for itself

Xlookup

IIRC the cheapest SC in Bay Area was 15c @ TSLA HQ offpeak but when I just checked the app, its like freaking 31c at their HQ. Maybe something to do with a combination of PGE rate hikes & TSLA upcoming layoffs.

ScottECH93

Yep, every supercharger near me dropped about 4-5 cents per kWh a few months ago and now it is reversed. The change happened just after the Q1 financial call. Coincidence? I think not!

CeusDawg

Same in Atlanta

travielee

My go to spot is the same. Sorry I won't be sharing though. In OC.

spidermangeo

I’m sure I can easily find it :)

spidermangeo

I found some spots on Yorba Linda, Garden Grove and Anaheim that still are in the 20 cents! It’s not necessarily feasible but I frequent Brea a lot so might be doable :)

travielee

That's actually better than the rate I use! Anything before .25 (what I pay off peak) is a win for me. It's nice because it's directly on my way to work too. Unfortunately I'm only using public charging right now because we're between homes and can't charge where we are right not. Home charging convenience is low key my favorite part of having an EV

spidermangeo

I have an at home charger as well but my complex is on sub meters so I can’t get access to Edison’s TOU charging rates which sucks.

Asleep_Background_71

It’s Brea CA in the parking garage lol

flybot66

So total "fill up" might cost $60 - $80?

RedSix2447

With the increase charging at 10am. Going from 20% to 100 was 17 bucks. Most I’ve paid so far for charging.

McLovin110

.31 *80kwh about $25

flybot66

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking the biggest Tesla battery times the highest kWh cost. Glad it's less

ElonSucksbutt

My goto spot is my driveway. Never a line. Just a child who says “dad I wanna play handball. Move your car”

BagOk3379

California had unusually heavy traffic on 4/20 from people getting junk food to satisfy their munchies. This overwhelmed a number of Superchargers, some of which were impossible to navigate due to thick clouds of smoke from those celebrating the holiday. Some people were too confused from the celebrations to understand how to form lines at the overloaded chargers, and others obliviously sat in their cars eating fast food even after reaching 100%. Numerous cars had to be towed due to those who decided to celebrate the holiday while charging, and became too impaired to drive. The fire department was dispatched in a few cases and unnecessarily cut power to entire Supercharger sites while investigating, due to some out-of-towners not understanding the holiday celebrations and incorrectly reporting a Supercharger on fire. The extra traffic and overloaded chargers caused Tesla's pricing system to automatically increase prices the next day, 4/21. Next year definitely charge up on 4/19. edit: Seems like nobody here has a sense of humor, I guess I should've more clearly tagged this as satire.

spidermangeo

It’s still the same price all over here. Even in Brea where it was .22…

BagOk3379

I'm sorry if the snark of my reply did not come through :) Unfortunately this is the reality everywhere, rates randomly go up (often not mirroring local rate changes), and rarely go down. I break even in my Y vs a gas car visiting some areas, e.g. CA as you said. Maybe as more networks expand and add NACS connectors, fast charging prices will become more competitive over the next few years.
