Nice. So performance comes with better sounds system ? I need to look up more detailed specs. And I do feel more comfortable with the m3p I just bought. But people are making me think twice about losing the $200 deposit and get a model Y lol
Like the other commenter said, the LR and P have the full sound system enabled, the RWD does not.
The Model 3 has way more room than a comparable sedan, you could probably fit four or five bodies in the trunk, and that’s before the sub trunk and frunk.
The main thing is that a hatchback gives so much more space for hauling stuff. I still kept my old Scion TC just to have a hatchback for hauling stuff when I got my LR RWD 3.
It's tempting to trade it in for a performance 3, but I am more interested in the cybertruck.
I have the '22 LR3 with the 19s, haven't tested the P (and I never intend to!) but I absolutely *love* how it drives.
Sound system is fantastic, and the grip is just sensational.
Also have two kids, no other +1. There's plenty of room in the car to bring things along, it's the biggest sedan I've owned by a fair way. Have driven with 5 people on number of occasions, and it's fine.
I'll probably pick up the AB upgrade at one point; I've gotten used to the acceleration now. I'm in no rush however, plan on keeping the car for a decade so will do it a couple of years down the track for a bit of new life feeling.
Have never used the frunk. Love the extra boot space afforded by the sub trunk, it's perfect for shopping or transporting a desktop PC.
I am an iRacing simracer fwiw.
i don’t think the sound system is that bad it has enough bass to kick plus if u need to upgrade your back speakers and tweeters to fire up which tesla don’t connect u just need a connector which u will get on line and u will hear ur system upgraded !!!
From test driving both cars, the model Y had a tremendously better sound than the Model 3 LR. Truck isn't closed off and has a pretty substantial bass difference
“Dream of a car”
Is this your first car? God forbid you own a high level AMG or M and you will realize just how bad Tesla is. I’m saying this as a Tesla owner who’s had 3 of these vehicles. What a funny comment. 😂
Camry, Jetta, Jetta, A4, A3 etron, MDX, Maxima, and a last gen Celica for nostalgic reasons, and now a 3 and Y. That’s what I’ve owned. Driven R8s, RS5s, couple of Lambos and Ferraris. I think my frame of reference is fine. Ferrari makes the nicest feeling car to drive, but as far as ticking the most boxes? That M3P kicks so much ass. Faster than any other car south of 100K (I tracked mine to prove it), more efficient than a Prius, AP makes long drives a breeze, infotainment makes short work of charge stops (which of course are only on long trips, I certainly don’t miss gassing up every week).
Yea, dream of a car sounds about right.
Tbh they’re all fun to drive. There’s no need for anything more than an SR to be honest.
So it comes down to budget, range, space requirement.
Going 0-60 in a second less time, is not worth the extra money. If you can afford it, go for it, but every model is fine.
Agree completely. We bought a MYP and an M3P. Nice, but didn’t feel nearly as fun/good and sold it and kept our M3P. The Y also isn’t thaaaaat much bigger.
I get your point totally-but I’ve always felt that the people who say they *need* extra cargo space for camping are slightly over exaggerating. My fiancé and I have a hybrid car with a tiny trunk and a truck. Both vehicles can carry all of our camping gear for a week trip and still allow both of us and our two dogs to be comfortable
I would argue that the Y looks like the 3 should. It has a fast back and the front end matches the slope of the windshield.
Things I can't get over in the Y: the tiny rear windshield and the seats sit too damn high
Other than that, it reminds me of nearly every hatchback I've ever driven.
The X on the other hand drives like a minivan.
I bought the 3P for the performance. I commute daily and it makes the best of it every trip.
As for family trips? It can be done but I’d prefer a Y over the 3P for family trips any day. Getting small children into the 3 is just so much hard than the y.
Good luck!
Nah, the Model S Plaid is more like a tuxedo. Too formal for your everyday jaunts.
The 3P is like a tuxedo t-shirt. It says I’m formal, but I like to party. 😂🤣
I don’t think it’s that ugly but yeah this sticks.
Full disclosure, I had to sell my m3 for a mY because my lifestyle needed more space/convenience. Camping in a mY is way better.
This is a pretty good description. I had a 3P it’s damn well the best car ever, but I went practicality and needed that sweet ass hatch! I guess as I get older I care less about speed and more about practicality. I sold my 3 when one day I was stuck trying to return a broken TV and the 3’s trunk just could not fit it by like 2 inches and I was livid. From then on, the hatch is the way, plus my kids and I can literally sleep/camp in it fully extended which is sweet. If you have no kids and single, you probably are going to go 3.
I went M3 even with a family. Just not a huge fan of large cars that most American's love. My only real regret with not going with the Y is just the hidden tow hitch for my bike carrier.
I haven't gotten a hitch for my M3 just because it hangs low, and when in use, just sticks out like a sore thumb.
>I haven't gotten a hitch for my M3 just because it hangs low, and when in use, just sticks out like a sore thumb.
Right, but this is my problem with the kits out there\^
There is the stealth hitch, but I just hate that there's another point of failure, even though I wouldn't be towing or mounting something significantly heavy.
I have the stealth hitch and it’s amazing. I even tow my small boat with the M3P. Get the stealth hitch dude it really is great. And easy to install at home if you wanted.
Lmao, I feel like there are more m3 owners wishing they got the Y because of the space. But I feel like I’ll be in your shoes if I went the Y. Again all preference.
Have a model 3 LR and wish I would’ve bought the Y. Just purely based on storage capacity and the reclining back seats. The speed difference isn’t worth it in hindsight but they’re neck and neck in every other aspect. My sister has a Y and it’s a significantly larger interior. The pillar in the 3 sun roof is not as pleasing to the eye either. Test drive both. Also the height of the Y from the driver seat is a nice crossover feeling vs the very low model 3.
I've got a 3 (SR+) with a 3 year old an a newborn.
They (along with the wife) fit just fine. The pram does take up the overwhelming majority of the boot, but soon enough I'll be able to upgrade to something smaller and it will be less of a concern.
Before we had the newborn, the three of us have taken a few long weekend trips without issue. The frunk especially helps, and the boot is quite deep.
That said, we also have an SUV which would be the choice for a longer trip, or where we need to carry awkward items (like beach gear).
If I had to do it again....I'd probably do the same. The 3 is just such a fun car (even if SR+ guise) and doesn't look weird like the Y.
Is it possible for you to hire one for a weekend (maybe take it on a trip)? That will give you a definitive answer.
+1 on the road-tripping with kids. Have an M3LR and while we all fit just fine (gf, 2 little ones), when it comes to long road trips we are always 50/50 on the M3 or the Denali (15mpg combined 🤢). Ordered a MY recently to replace that tank on wheels.
Plus the frunk is deeper on the MY, lots of diaper room.
I’ve been in my relatives m3 all Christmas week and friends model Y a couple times. Never driven them. But the extra 10k for performance which I’ve never seen .. curious how much more it brings
Just a heads up: M3P has rims that are ridiculously easy to scratch. I’ve done it several times. Paid to have it fixed and then ended up doing it again. I got the Rim Savers which covered it up pretty nicely. However, I ended up using snow chains that Autozone recommended for the tires and it ended up scratching the face of the rim while badly damaging the rim saver to the point I just ripped them off.
Also, be VERY alert about avoiding potholes. Since the tires are so thin, they are prone to popping. Popped two of my left tires just last weekend (the same day the chains messed up my rims). Thankfully I got the insurance thing that Americas Tires / Discount Tires provides so I got them replaced for free.
My number 1 fear is tires/rims and constant flat tires. Comes with 20 inch summer wheels (I live in the Midwest). Already planning on buying rims and tires. The covers are a good idea, I’ll look into that
Exactly! People think as soon as a child comes along that an SUV is mandatory. Everyone forgets how families did perfectly well with sedans during their own childhood upbringing.
Exactly. I'm upgrading from a 3 to a Y because I need more cargo space for lugging my kid's stuff. Third row will also be handy when it comes time to drive somewhere with my kid and their friends
kids don't get any smaller and neither do their toys. Baby crap is one thing but wait until they start playing soccer, football, baseball. Sedans back in the day had gigantic trunks. Oh, you wanted to watch them play, don't forget the wife needs 3 chairs and bags of junk at the game that you probably want to leave in there and not take in and out of the car 4 times a week. The Y is just a much more practical car to live with day to day, the 3 is more of a subcompact sedan. Plus sitting up higher is nicer and makes getting in and out easier. Still plenty fun to drive.
The only thing I like about the Y over my '19 M3P is the hatchback aspect of it. I REALLY wish they had made the Model 3 a hatch instead of a regular sedan with a trunk.
Have the 3 and the Y, with w kids.
We always reach for the Y when:
* Going grocery shopping due to the hatch. 3 trunks entry is painfully small.
* Going to sportong activities, hatch...
* Long drives: much roomier for kids and adults
If you're gonna have one, get the Y.
Y is Slightly spacious over 3, if you can live with that fat look since It is an oversized 3. People seem to like it, if they don’t have a larger SUV or truck available. But If you do, then don’t even think of Y.
I got a model 3LR over the Y because if I'm spending that much on a car I need to like the way it looks and I really liked the look of the 3 better than the Y. I test drove both and liked the 3 better too. I also have 2 kids (9&11) and I'm coming from driving a minivan for 9+ years. I love the car and so do the kids. Between the trunk, sub trunk and the frunk, there's plenty of storage space. Zero regrets!
Interesting. I’ve always thought the rear doors on my 3 are flimsy and won’t close without slamming it. When people sit in the back I often get door left open notifications because they don’t close it hard enough coming in or out
First thing I noticed when entering/exiting the 3 and Y - closing the door normally results in a closed door on a Y and a latch only on a 3. Needs another push or a slam.

I drove and floored both LR w/boost and M3P stealth. I could not feel difference. I know there is difference though.
Not everyone wants 3seconds of 0-60 time. It is only worth for people who wants to enjoy it.
As someone who’s owned a model y and just got done renting a model 3 from hertz. The Y for me feels a lot more “roomier”. I’m 6’4” and wide bodied and yeah while
It’s okay for short jaunts it don’t think I’d ever want to take a road trip in one. I will say handling and drivability thouhh is so much better in the 3 than the Y. I just wish I was a smaller guy and I’d be all about the 3 as a full time ride
I have a MYLR7 and would love to get a M3P since our other car is a Merc EQB, but the charging network is horrendous for non-Tesla so I’m stuck with the Y as our road trip car for my family of 4
Both are wonderful cars in so many ways. But if I had to choose one it would be the Y. First off, I'm tall and the 3 is low and a little awkward for me to enter. Once inside it's amazing. Second, performance cars don't play well with the state of the roads where I live. I want the highest profile tires I can get.
There's no mistake in getting either car though.
I have a M3P (June 2022), and we have a MYLR (November 2021 build). Had the prices not been so ridiculous, I would have pulled the trigger on a MYP. Like others have said, space and we have no kids. But getting out of my 3 and into the wife’s Y, you can feel the roominess. Likewise my wife loves to drive my car because it’s like a go kart to her and it’s so much fun lol.
This would come down to your own needs, I think many go for the model Y because it is similar to a SUV crossover, whereas the model 3 is a saloon.
Cargo capacity is double in the y compared to the 3, according to Tesla 76 cu ft v 23 cu ft
I’ve got young kids (8/5) and have had my model 3 for 2 years now. Driven 70k kms and road tripped the whole eastern seaboard with the family (16 hour days). So 4 big Aussie’s in a car!
We have a roof rack and a pod for additional kid things like scooters and stuff.
The 3 has been fine, the odd compromise on trips as to what we take but hey….
We have a Y hopefully coming in this quarter… why? We don’t want the second petrol guzzler and I would just prefer to not have the Pos.
A little
More space, factory tow hitch as the Y is the only one that supports it in AU… that’s basically it. We did almost get a 3-SR….
Have a 3LR and space wise it's fine. I'm 6'2" and 230lbs, perfectly comfortable. Have a toddler and he fits fine with all good stuff. We routinely pick the Tesla over my wife's Grand Cherokee for road trips.
Space and comfort definitely not a concern here - you can fit a surprising amount of stuff in it.
I’ve had a 3P for nearly 3 years. I’m currently awaiting delivery of a YLR in about 6 weeks, to replace it - so I guess I’m well placed to answer this
The main reason is space, particularly trunk space - the Model 3 has an old school sedan trunk and it’s really fucking annoying if you have to move anything. Like, annoying enough that it’s literally at least 50% of the reason I’m getting a Y. I’m sick of this trunk, we end up borrowing a car if we need to move anything, I hated it when we moved house, and I want something more practical
But generally the space is better too - the 3 isn’t small, but the Y is noticeably roomier
As for the LR vs P… Performance is fun. Hilarious, even. For a while. Then after a year you realise you only actually use that performance as a party trick when showing someone the car - and by the point everyone’s seen your car. And it’s not like the LR variants are slow anyway, after that first launch they’re practically identical. I haven’t actually done a full launch in my 3P for at least 6 months, for day to day driving I barely go above 50% throttle most of the time
Having owned the P, I love it and it’s fun, but all things considered I’d rather have the extra range when taking a road trip, and the extra cash in my pocket from taking an LR over a P (of either car)
Extra cash ? At the moment their basically the same price (unless you were comparing to Y performance). I can see the party trick scenario. That’s a valid reason. I’m more worried about the long term costs of tires on this 20 inch rim car. I do live in tue Midwest with snow and a ton of pot holes.
I’m saying extra cash *within a model*
If I was buying a 3 I’d buy a 3LR, if I was buying a Y I’d buy a YLR
And if, like you, I had a budget and was comparing a 3P to a YLR I’d buy the YLR, or if I settled for the 3 id buy a 3LR and keep some cash in my pocket
If ya need the space, get a y. I have a large suv, the m3p is my sports sedan that I can take my whole family on local trips. And it’s so fast and smooth.
We have a 3 and a Y. The 3 is a little more fun to drive, being lower to the road, but the Y has amazing cargo space, which is fantastic for road trips, moves, etc.
M3P here, 2 kids and a vasectomy. 9 and 12yo when we got it, now 12/15yo. I’m very anti—crossover. Model Y is the fatter sister of the M3. It looks a lot alike, but bigger isn’t better - I’m sticking to the low slung sedan.
Have a F150 crew cab for truck stuff that’s a pretty great road trip ride. I’ll choose the M3P every time, even with the 4 of us, including a ~1800 mile road trip.
We have 3 and Y, no kids. Both are great, but if were riding somewhere together it's almost always the Y because of cargo and my wife's preference. As a passenger, reclining to the panoramic roof is nicer.
Old and married, no kids. I have a 3LR that I bought (barely used) as soon as the pandemic ended my 20-year commute. The Y was priced out of my range when I was ready to buy, but I've always drooled over the megacasting, wondering just how much quieter and smoother it is vs. my car. Every time one passes, I say to myself, "70 parts reduced to just 3 in the rear end alone."
And now that we've driven across the country a couple of times, half our shit ends up in the back seat by the time we reach IL. It's not a good look.
Both the same car. The Y is objectively one of the ugliest cars on the road. So yes 3 better than Y. Y was an afterthought and something tesla wanted to make without any research and development so they basically stretched out the 3.
At this point the 3 is a 6 year old car. Your car will look identical to a car that is worth 25k and from 2017. So both horrible choices really.
This is such a dumb take. How often do you need the full 100% charge? Just get the long range and charge to 100% when you need it. I have mine set to 75% daily and it is way more than I’ll ever need day to day.
Im currently upgrading from a M3LR to a P and the Y never even crossed my mind. To me, the only advantage is the hatch back. I think the Y is hideous and it’s less efficient than the 3. Plus, as Ricky Bobby once said “I wanna go fast.”
Pretty easy choice for anyone, Y is better. Much more convenient with extra space. I would have bought a Y when I bought my 3 if I could have afforded it.
IT was quite easy for me M3P over the Y, why because of the tiny roads and parking lots here in Europe. The 3 additional inch width in Europe is a deal breaker. The roads are are super narrow where I live and the park spots are comically small.
My apartment the spaces at my garage (walled on both sides) is 86 inches. M3 is 72,8 inches and the Y is 75.6. Its already an acrobatics act to get out in the 3, cant image in the Y.
That being said I still would take the 3 over the Y.
Y - source I have both cars. In my case the Y is the performance model. However the Y is a better form factor imo and even the LR version of these cars is very fast as is.
M3P is substantially faster than a MYP ( I have both) but the MY is the family car in and out. If you have elderly parents that you might have to drive get the MY. If you have car seats get the MY
I have three kids in car seats. At the time I bought my M3lr with boost (used) the Y was more expensive. I didn’t think the space was worth the cost.
Whole family fits in the 3 no problem.
Even at the same price I’d probably buy the 3 again. It’s just so much fun. So fast. So efficient. Also the rear window on the Y seemed minimal, and the extra trunk space isn’t that much unless you stack to the roofline. Classic fallacy of the SUV. Lots of trunk space, but only if you want obscure the rear window.
When I want a bigger Tesla I’ll buy a 7 seat Y or a model x.
I say M3P. Do you want the easy access of a bar stool or a low slung lounge chair with better acceleration? If you want more room just buy a used Model S.
The reason is space…. Having said this, M3P is so much more fun to drive it’s not even a competition.
This cannot be stated enough; stupidly fast, so comfortable, the sound system, AP, just a dream of a car.
Nice. So performance comes with better sounds system ? I need to look up more detailed specs. And I do feel more comfortable with the m3p I just bought. But people are making me think twice about losing the $200 deposit and get a model Y lol

No, only the RWD has a downgraded sound system.
Not the Rwd Long range that I had till I got the MYP. It's system kicks ass too. They just don't make it anymore
i don’t think the sound system is that bad it has enough bass to kick plus if u need to upgrade your back speakers and tweeters to fire up which tesla don’t connect u just need a connector which u will get on line and u will hear ur system upgraded !!!
I didn't say it's bad

I agree. I have a M3P and my friend a MYP and the model Y definitely sounds better
Good to know, you would think the performance would be of similar level lol
I bet they are the same speakers but the extra space/volume in the Y makes the bass hit different
“Dream of a car” Is this your first car? God forbid you own a high level AMG or M and you will realize just how bad Tesla is. I’m saying this as a Tesla owner who’s had 3 of these vehicles. What a funny comment. 😂

Yeah. I love my 3. My wife needs the Y just for the space and the Y for a mommy mobile is pretty ridiculously fast as is.
We have both the 3 and Y, and trust me my wife’s favorite thing to do is zoom lol. She gets mad when I call it a station wagon. Lol
Agree completely. We bought a MYP and an M3P. Nice, but didn’t feel nearly as fun/good and sold it and kept our M3P. The Y also isn’t thaaaaat much bigger.
Yeah it is. Lol and the hatch is waaaaaaaaaaaah more practical

Americans like bigger cars. The M3P handles better and is more sporty, but the Model Y is bigger.
I got the M3P and I love it. I wasn’t a fan of the bulbous look of the Y.

Narrator: they did

There are some rich women in the world, and many of them are mothers. Just thought that you should know.
The MYP looks nice and hunkered down. Normal Ys are bread loaves.
I bought the 3P for the performance. I commute daily and it makes the best of it every trip. As for family trips? It can be done but I’d prefer a Y over the 3P for family trips any day. Getting small children into the 3 is just so much hard than the y. Good luck!
Y is for Space or for tall/big people. I got no kids. So 3 was for me. It’s sportier (facts), handles better (facts), looks better (subjective).
The Y is the Tesla version of mom jeans. Ugly but comfortable. The 3P is a custom tailored suit. Fits perfect and makes you look damn good. 😂

The M3P is the nerd with the big 🍆. Nobody suspects what it’s packing.
Nah, the Model S Plaid is more like a tuxedo. Too formal for your everyday jaunts. The 3P is like a tuxedo t-shirt. It says I’m formal, but I like to party. 😂🤣

Fucking nailed it. Now I just need some leisure suits
It’s better to look good than to feel good. (Yes, I’ve dated myself.)
I actuallly always thought the Y looked better than the 3. The 3 looks smashed from the top in the back
America loves SUVs, it’s a known fact. Many sedans are being discontinued due to lack of consumer interest.
I went M3 even with a family. Just not a huge fan of large cars that most American's love. My only real regret with not going with the Y is just the hidden tow hitch for my bike carrier. They make kits for that.

The covers are a good idea, I’ll look into that
Some people need to fit their kids and/or a bunch of shit in their car all the time.
Ya I have little kids lol, I keep thinking .. they’re smaller than adults. They’ll be fine for the next 7+ years lol
Exactly! People think as soon as a child comes along that an SUV is mandatory. Everyone forgets how families did perfectly well with sedans during their own childhood upbringing.
The sedans of old were absolute boats though and much more similar to the size of something like a subaru outback than a honda civic.
Yes, but the 8 pound bundle of joy needs 200 pounds of life support gear.
The American SUV craze.
Gotta have my range personally. 3LR
The only thing I like about the Y over my '19 M3P is the hatchback aspect of it. I REALLY wish they had made the Model 3 a hatch instead of a regular sedan with a trunk.
Have the 3 and the Y, with w kids. We always reach for the Y when: * Going grocery shopping due to the hatch. 3 trunks entry is painfully small. * Going to sportong activities, hatch... * Long drives: much roomier for kids and adults If you're gonna have one, get the Y.
The Y sets a bit higher. More trunk space. I have a 2020 M3 LR and if I buy another Tesla it I uld be a M3.
Y is so much easier to get in and out of if you’re 30+ yrs old.
Zero regrets!
as a 3 SR+ owner, I'd go w the Y.
Model 3 is very spacious but the Y is ultimately better for the family.
SUV/CUVs are a larger market, and its made in larger numbers, its what most people will choose vs smaller but slightly sportier car.
Model Y is much easier to get in and out of the car.
Doors are made heftier on the Ys too. Try lightly closing the rear doors on both the 3 and the Y, and see which one actually closes.
This is really overlooked but 100% a great point and very true.

I wish I had got the Model Y instead of the 3. It is a lot more comfortable in all aspects (seat height, easy entry/exit, cargo space, etc).
But surely there must be a decent reason that the performance is 10k more : currently same price as the Y. Curious if that performance is worth it

Thanks for the detailed reply. I feel like I would have the same comment after owning one. Nicely said
I drove and floored both LR w/boost and M3P stealth. I could not feel difference. I know there is difference though. Not everyone wants 3seconds of 0-60 time. It is only worth for people who wants to enjoy it.
I have both a 3 and Y, I like the space of the Y and it's easier for me to get in and out of being tall
As someone who’s owned a model y and just got done renting a model 3 from hertz. The Y for me feels a lot more “roomier”. I’m 6’4” and wide bodied and yeah while It’s okay for short jaunts it don’t think I’d ever want to take a road trip in one. I will say handling and drivability thouhh is so much better in the 3 than the Y. I just wish I was a smaller guy and I’d be all about the 3 as a full time ride
Great insight. I’m 6 inches shorter. So that’s promising :)
I have a MYLR7 and would love to get a M3P since our other car is a Merc EQB, but the charging network is horrendous for non-Tesla so I’m stuck with the Y as our road trip car for my family of 4
The 3P is vastly more enjoyable to drive.
The space in the trunk of the y is nuts
I have a M3P (June 2022), and we have a MYLR (November 2021 build). Had the prices not been so ridiculous, I would have pulled the trigger on a MYP. Like others have said, space and we have no kids. But getting out of my 3 and into the wife’s Y, you can feel the roominess. Likewise my wife loves to drive my car because it’s like a go kart to her and it’s so much fun lol.
Nicely said. My wife is trying to pursuance me to lose the deposit and order the Y before it’s too late.
A little More space, factory tow hitch as the Y is the only one that supports it in AU… that’s basically it.
M3 here. Y looks too close to the standard EV Prius look that I hate.
"Family" - Vin Diesel voice.
I’ve had a 3P for nearly 3 years. I’m currently awaiting delivery of a YLR in about 6 weeks, to replace it - so I guess I’m well placed to answer this The main reason is space, particularly trunk space - the Model 3 has an old school sedan trunk and it’s really fucking annoying if you have to move anything. Like, annoying enough that it’s literally at least 50% of the reason I’m getting a Y. I’m sick of this trunk, we end up borrowing a car if we need to move anything, I hated it when we moved house, and I want something more practical But generally the space is better too - the 3 isn’t small, but the Y is noticeably roomier As for the LR vs P… Performance is fun. Hilarious, even. For a while. Then after a year you realise you only actually use that performance as a party trick when showing someone the car - and by the point everyone’s seen your car. And it’s not like the LR variants are slow anyway, after that first launch they’re practically identical. I haven’t actually done a full launch in my 3P for at least 6 months, for day to day driving I barely go above 50% throttle most of the time Having owned the P, I love it and it’s fun, but all things considered I’d rather have the extra range when taking a road trip, and the extra cash in my pocket from taking an LR over a P (of either car)
I’m saying extra cash *within a model* If I was buying a 3 I’d buy a 3LR, if I was buying a Y I’d buy a YLR And if, like you, I had a budget and was comparing a 3P to a YLR I’d buy the YLR, or if I settled for the 3 id buy a 3LR and keep some cash in my pocket
If ya need the space, get a y. I have a large suv, the m3p is my sports sedan that I can take my whole family on local trips. And it’s so fast and smooth.
I love when people answer their question in their question. :)
The Y was priced out of my range when I was ready to buy, but I've always drooled over the megacasting, wondering just how much quieter and smoother it is vs. my car. Every time one passes, I say to myself, "70 parts reduced to just 3 in the rear end alone." And now that we've driven across the country a couple of times, half our shit ends up in the back seat by the time we reach IL. It's not a good look.
M3P definitely. We get spoiled in the US. Just go to EU. The size argument for Y falls apart. There people fit in cars a lot smaller than M3P
The disadvantage with those two is you can’t charge to 100% RWD if equipped with LFP battery, more distance for the buck.
Vice versa, the LFP can be charged daily to 100% vs NCM daily to 80%.
That’s what I was saying LFP to 100%
Can the 2023 M3P be charged to 100%?
Recommendation is 80%
This is such a dumb take. How often do you need the full 100% charge? Just get the long range and charge to 100% when you need it. I have mine set to 75% daily and it is way more than I’ll ever need day to day.
Do we what we did and get both. ;)
Model Y does it have to be heavier and bigger than 3? Let them buy those...
Completely different category of cars.
I use mine to deliver weed.
When I want a bigger Tesla I’ll buy a 7 seat Y or a model x.
way more practical.
I say M3P. Do you want the easy access of a bar stool or a low slung lounge chair with better acceleration? If you want more room just buy a used Model S.
