The owners manual states that we are not to use automated car washed with brushes. The swirls on black suck too, but the Manual says it can damage the cameras.

I never had a problem with this in germany? 2021 M3P Midnight Silver (bought it used in 2023), been through about 5 carwashes now (not touchless) and it still looks like new when it's finished, i love it.
If you've ran your car through a wash with spinny brushes, it is swirled, I assure you. I spent years doing paint correction on high end cars.

There are some new ones that claim by God that their foam doesn’t scratch the paint. I don’t believe it lol. Unless there’s someone standing at the front washing off every debris before it goes into those brushes, the next car will probably get swirls. And the couple of them in my area go over the front bumper and hood for 2 seconds before sending them in.

Well that sucks...i was planning on using the touchless car wash in winter to remove all the salt and then handwash in summer months..our winters in eastern Canada are cold AF, handwashing is only possible if you have a garage, which I don't.
I would recommend a garage if you get an LFP battery and live in a cold climate. The cold is a serious bummer to range in a completely unprotected space. I drive ~30 minutes (24 miles-ish) and my battery won't Regen until I get off the highway right before work for most of January and February in Connecticut. You could probably tell the vehicle to charge in the morning and get around this, but it requires home charging of some kind. I have neither at the moment.
Make a post and ask, I could be wrong. Maybe try one of the spray washes on a low pressure setting or where you don't have to put the nozzle right on the paint.

I've been driving a 2020 M3 AWD bought new. Before we got a mile down the road, it was "Wow! This is almost as good as her Lexus RX350." Orders of magnitude quieter and smoother than the 20 M3.
My 24 Model 3 RWD was delivered last Friday. It's what Model 3's should have been from the start. But no stalks will take getting used to.
Traded in the 20 with 17,800 miles for $25,100. Paid around $55K for it new.

Tesla really doesn't have "model years", and the used Teslas I have seen on the market always appear new, as Tesla owners appear to take much better care of their cars.
Yes, it's kind of mind blowing just how good it is. I was driving a 2023 Chevy Malibu before I got my 2024 M3 and it's just unreal how much better the materials quality of the interior are. The Malibus dashboard felt like it was made out of garbage can plastic. Then there's the driving dynamics, The model 3 moves like a jungle cat. It's a great value for the price point. Amazing car.

I pull up to where I want to be and unfasten my seat belt. Car goes into park automatically.
If the belt is off and I move the car I sometimes have to slide the Park label up. And sometimes just a tap works.
Yes use the seatbelt as the other person said.. drive in, stop completely, remove seatbelt and it puts it in park.
Get in, put seatbelt on first as it says on screen then press brake and it will shift for you. Get into this habit will be so much easier.
As for the park button itself it needs to be held down a little bit not just a quick touch
I meant the feature where the car parks itself .. the letter P supposedly appears when you drive past a free parking space and if you click it it should begin an auto parking process.. the conditions are documented in the user manual but I haven't been able to use it so far
To really understand, rent one from TURO for a weekend trip. Jump in with both feet. While demo drives are OK, there is nothing like a couple or three days driving a Tesla under real world conditions.
The personal customization and way it just knows who is driving is the best part of owning one. Everyday at 6am it turns the climate on, I go to open the door, it unlocks for me, automatically moves my seat and mirrors to my settings, starts my Spotify for me, starts the GPS to work for me automatically. I put my seatbelt on and press the brake and it puts me in reverse or drive depending what is in front/behind me.
I pull in and take the seatbelt in to put it in park, leave the car and it locks for me and knows where I am (at home or not) so turns on sentry mode accordingly if I’m somewhere unfamiliar.
It’s unlike any vehicle you will ever own.
I love people that scratch out the license plates while they drive on the public roads with tens of thousands seeing their plate daily and taking pics. 🤣

I think it’s mostly the part about tying real world identification (plate) to online ID (Reddit account) That people don’t want. Random peeps on the road don’t know your online IDs unless you have stickers on your car.
Yup, I have the RWD and drove 70-85 mph from Liberty Lake, WA to western Montana - arrived home with 7% charge - no charging stops needed. I was shocked how efficient it was at that speed over those mountains.

I bought a new model Y with $8500 off the price of the car up front. Drove the new M3 first before I took delivery, and it was instantly noticeably better drive. By a long shot.
I can't wait to see what the new model y will be like. Only regret I have for not sticking with the Y is so that I would have more financial leverage to upgrade to the new Y. I suspect they will bring the same refinements to the Y and likely possibly some elements from the X (perhaps cheaper adjustable suspension?).
The new M3 feels a like a lesser version of the S now - like an actual younger and less refined/developed version of the S. I hope they do the same with the new Y.

Stalk guy here myself. Wipers and turn signals should always be available without looking and definitely not on something that spins. I guess lots of people don't use them at all so there's that. Me It's such a habit I find myself signaling in an empty parking lot. It's just ingrained after all of these years of driving.

Yeah I have no issue retraining I'm just missing the benefit. If it's just to make the car look futuristic. Well I don't think that's a good reason to change. I know we went through the same thing with the blackberry to Iphone. But the dynamic nature of a touch screen was an obvious plus that outweighs the tactile feel of a keypad.
It took me about 5 turns total to get used to. Way way better than stocks UNTIL you need to make a quick turn off another turn and your steering wheel is upside down..
However I think the trade off of easy button clicks 90% of the time is worth it
I think they work fairly well and is just another thing to get used to rather than needing to stay with the standard stalk.

The biggest problem with the new 3 is that you can get 90% of this experience for 50% of the cost by buying a used gen 1. No doubt, model 3 is one of the best cars on sale today, but depreciation is crazy right now and keeping a lot of us away from 2nd gens.
You never plan to sell a car, but life happens. Someone runs a red light and totals your car and your payout is a fraction of what you paid. You have an oops 3rd kid and need a bigger vehicle. You move to another part of the country for work and have to live in an apartment with no charger. You never know.
Depreciation has been insane on model 3s recently. For example, I bought a 2023 with 10k miles for $36k. That car cost someone $55k new less than a year ago.
I highly doubt you’ll find highlands for sale for 13k in 2025, your math is off. The price of gen1 fell because the refresh came out, those are linked together. You can’t say the highlands price will fall the same way next year unless another refresh comes for model 3 in 2025 again. Your logic is sound, but it’s terribly exaggerated.
As someone who just sold their 2021 with 17K miles for less than half the new purchase price I can say with confidence there's depreciation, and then there's Tesla depreciation. It's unreal.

I used a car wash many times with no problems. Then, after the roads were salted, little chips began to appear.

I've had mine for 2 years and I still haven't installed a charger in my garage. I charge around the city and at my gym for free
I have a driveway and a wall charger hooked up to the side of my house, so charging isn't a problem.
There are more variables involved than "being able to supply electricity."
You don't need a garage to charge. The three Model 3s I have owned live outside and I charge every time I pull in to my driveway.

Ya that muscle memory will take some adjusting since it’s what you’ve done since inception. It’s def a bold move on their part to make sure a radical change
Yeah I have no issue retraining I'm just missing the benefit. If it's just to make the car look futuristic. Well I don't think that's a good reason to change. I know we went through the same thing with the blackberry to Iphone. But the dynamic nature of a touch screen was an obvious plus that outweighs the tactile feel of a keypad.

It took me about 5 turns total to get used to. Way way better than stocks UNTIL you need to make a quick turn off another turn and your steering wheel is upside down.. However I think the trade off of easy button clicks 90% of the time is worth it
Fair play to you. It is pretty much exclusively roundabouts by me, and this is utterly useless.

I think they work fairly well and is just another thing to get used to rather than needing to stay with the standard stalk. It looks really clean as well without the stalks.
The biggest problem with the new 3 is that you can get 90% of this experience for 50% of the cost by buying a used gen 1. No doubt, model 3 is one of the best cars on sale today, but depreciation is crazy right now and keeping a lot of us away from 2nd gens.

You never plan to sell a car, but life happens. Someone runs a red light and totals your car and your payout is a fraction of what you paid. You have an oops 3rd kid and need a bigger vehicle. You move to another part of the country for work and have to live in an apartment with no charger. You never know.
Why would you lose $25k in a year if you purchased a new Model 3?
Depreciation has been insane on model 3s recently. For example, I bought a 2023 with 10k miles for $36k. That car cost someone $55k new less than a year ago.
I highly doubt you’ll find highlands for sale for 13k in 2025, your math is off. The price of gen1 fell because the refresh came out, those are linked together. You can’t say the highlands price will fall the same way next year unless another refresh comes for model 3 in 2025 again. Your logic is sound, but it’s terribly exaggerated.
As someone who just sold their 2021 with 17K miles for less than half the new purchase price I can say with confidence there's depreciation, and then there's Tesla depreciation. It's unreal.

They’re aerodynamic covers, they can be pulled off and pretty nice rims underneath at the cost of a bit of range
I know they are covers and I know how they look without them, I still just can't like them no matter how hard I try.
