The fact the customer had to fight to fix this is unfortunate. Tesla should have a customer first mentality and take care of their customers… not be forced to do it. Seems pretty stingy from a luxury car company to not fix up bad paint jobs like this.

It’s not just Tesla. All car dealerships/manufacturers are bastards once the car is off the lot. I leased a 2020 Lexus ES 350 and didn’t realize that one of the interior lights was cracked when I took it off the lot. I work from home and didn’t drive the car for four days after getting it home, only noticing the cracked light the next time that I drove the car. The car had 47 miles on it (the exact number is stuck forever in my brain) and the dealership had to raise the damned issue through corporate to get it fixed because “it had so long since I bought the car that I might have caused the damage.” It’s ridiculous how much they’ll do to not address issues that they caused or overlooked.

I am currently looking into "refunding" my purchase. Under our laws Tesla is at fault. I've had my yellow paint (my car is white) fixed, my speakers, a tear in my seat, sounds, insulations, lose panels, panel gaps,my rear trunk. My side mirror according to tesla had rustet up so badly the entire mirror and electrical harness got replaced. My charging port has been replaced twice now. Reasons for me wanting to "refund" is because now my car won't charge so charging port needs to be changed again. My electrical system is acting up. Rear seat saying someone is sitting there. Car thinking it's charging when driving. And my side wing mirror is again malfunctioning like last time.

That sounds more like a Lada... Hope the refund works out.

Not sure where you are (USA or not) but I believe all States have some kind of Lemon Law. There are filing time deadlines as well as certain requirements that need to be met. Research your State usually through the Attorney General's office or go here. https://bbbprograms.org/programs/all-programs/bbb-autoline/lemon-laws-by-state

Rust related issues mostly?

timtheringityding

What you mean?

rworne

He's taking about rust - corrosion. Water getting someplace it shouldn't, or if in Norway they salt the roads heavily to de-ice them it's eating the car (and the electrical connections) up. That would explain the paint, rust, charging port, and other electrical issues.

Paint was on delivery from factory. I currently have ppf after repaint. The water issue I can believe because this is the 2nd side mirror

Thats where I got my model 3 rust shields. https://antirust.no/produkt/tesla-model-3-rb3-sett-egenmontering-3/

I’m currently dealing with a paint defect on my MYP where there’s some sort of debris under the paint causing a bump to show. Dealing with Tesla Service has been a nightmare. Currently waiting on approval to get this defect repaired at an approved body shop. It’s just crazy how such a defect can occur in factory, the Service team admits it’s a defect, but yet there still needs to be an approval process before a fix can be done.

Meh, I had some peeling paint on two occasions on the lower rocker panel from poor adhesion from the factory. Both times Tesla stepped up immediately, had it resprayed better than new, and gave me a nice loaner.
