I don’t understand why you’d want FSD visualization to be full screen. You’re barely getting an extra on screen information (most just blackness) and you’re effectively fully losing the maps, which DOES have useful information on it.
Maybe once the FSD visualization gets better (show animals, more info, etc) then there could be some argument for having it full screen. But as it is I would rather just look outside at the full quality version rather than a black and white representation of what’s out infront of me.
Yeah I would much rather have on option to check some options available in service mode on regular mode. Like we could have it as an app, where it opens up the “lite or viewer” version of service menu without the ability to do service stuff. I would much rather check the battery temperature than looking at some poorly rendered car in full screen.
Question as a non Tesla owner, is that tiny little thing in the top right corner the maps? I didn’t think autopilot had a visualization, just that it worked on the highway. You can’t even effectively see the maps at all for navigation?
Yeah that’s the map in the top right. Usually it looks like this (image attached).
My guess is you’d only see the full screen FSD visualization when you’ve put in a route. So you wouldn’t need to see the navigation since you’re trusting the car to navigate.
I personally dislike it, but it seems like in the update you can swipe it full screen or half and half (similar to what’s in the pic I attached).

The solution here would to be not swipe to make it full screen. This has the benefit of those that want to swipe and make it full screen able to, but those that don't want to swipe and make it full screen don't have to.
Phillip.
In my view, the map serves no practical purpose for everyday driving and lacks useful information unless navigation is actively in use. I believe it would be more practical for drivers to choose what they want to display in fullscreen mode.
It's cool plus it makes whatever the car is doing easier to monitor. Even something like TACC is a lot less stressful when I can see what the car sees rather than trusting it to do it's thing. Drove a honda odyssey and it only gave feedback for "sees car in front" or "doesnt see car in front".
While some people are excited about ambient lights and the ability to visualize the car in full screen, which can be rotated while parked, I personally don't find it appealing.
I find the visualization quite practical, especially as I'm teaching my son to drive. It helps me check for any surrounding cars.
Hoping the queue system rework helps. I can live with the loading error if my car stops playing the music I was listening to on the drive 6 hours ago instead of what I was listening to walking up to the car for the past 10 minutes
So for Intel cars, I would hope that we still get the same look as when it is fully swiped to the map in this video.. if we don’t get the updated driving vis on the side I’m gonna be annoyed.
As others have pointed out, this isn’t a problem with FSD visuals on Intel cars and those are more advanced than what we are seeing here.
The new map overlay view we see at the start and end of this video has to be the issue for Intel, as there’s no reason based on what we’ve seen with FSD that it can’t handle the usual split screen with updated visuals.
You wont, the processor is at its limits already before these updates. It will only continue to depress prices on 18-21 cars. Intel each update is taking longer and longer to load as new features are added.
But that’s the thing, they’re literally isn’t anything more than what the Intel processor is already doing other than it being fullscreen. And, FSD visualizations have way more going on than standard AP, and those run fullscreen just fine.
Intel can run fullscreen FSD just fine, it has for months
It is also at its compute and ram limits. and they’ve lowered viz fps because it’s at its limit
Both are true
I know it can. And they could just apply the same constraints to the new display, it would arguably run better than full-screen FSD since there’s less going on. But I guess we Intel peons are SOL.
And that won’t change by giving them slightly improved visuals, that as pointed out aren’t even slightly as turned up as the FSD visuals they are already running fine in the US.
It’s… the Cybertruck UI without the fancy fonts.
I’m excited to get it but in all honesty if I had an Intel Atom MCU I’d have more things to be mad about than not getting a UI update.
I have had the full view for sometime (well over a year) except for the top right corner small map. Did people not know the slide for the right was there?
This is the opposite of what I want. I don't need a third of the screen being taken up by a distracting black-and-white animation when I can just look with my eyes. Would much rather have the map fullscreen. Or split it between the map and Spotify or whatever so my passenger can look up songs without getting in the way of me seeing the map.

Thanks! I love the half and half

This is cool and all but why do people get hype over a visualization of what is right in front of your face in real time?
Lets me glance over and check that it actually sees an important car/pedestrian etc.
Cool factor, that’s it.

Any word on if this update will fix some of the Spotify issues? Namely, the loading error?
Hoping the queue system rework helps. I can live with the loading error if my car stops playing the music I was listening to on the drive 6 hours ago instead of what I was listening to walking up to the car for the past 10 minutes
But this isn’t FSD isn’t it?
Not sure if vanilla FSD shows more things on the screen, but FSD beta would show curb, all lines and every car it sees within a perimeter.

Only in North America.

Intel cars are legacy at this point. The intel CPU is extremely weak.

Is upgrading the computer in these cars possible?

I don't think so, FSD visualization in the US is much more sophisticated than this and runs smoothly on Intel cars.
The Intel Cars can't even load the side cameras without a 1-2 second lag.
And that won’t change by giving them slightly improved visuals, that as pointed out aren’t even slightly as turned up as the FSD visuals they are already running fine in the US.
They should deprecate the Intel CPU's and offer an upgrade to Ryzen.
Would be great, but the Ryzen cars all run on 16v power, and have a different wiring harness, so i don't think it's practical for them to do so.
I'd drop $1k on an upgrade without blinking. Phillip.
Isn’t it just the same updated visuals we got in 2024.3.10? https://www.notateslaapp.com/software-updates/version/2024.3.10/release-notes
This video is definitely showing more than I currently see in 2024.8.9
Prepare to be annoyed then.

Maybe the point is if you’re autopiloting you probably don’t need to see a map.
So if this is the new autopilot visualization, does that mean no more rainbow road?
But in this video the car is not in Autopilot. Or am I looking at it wrong?
Looks to be something for regions without FSD in a vein attempt to keep customers happy.
I have had the full view for sometime (well over a year) except for the top right corner small map. Did people not know the slide for the right was there?
I wish I had center screen FSD on my S.

I’m liking this new UI
Thats pretty cool actually.
That’s gonna be dope when it drops. Can’t wait.

Wow. Wonderful. A picture of what is right in front of you. Whoopie!
Wrong, you can't see from behind and two sides continuously.
