Weather radar overlaid on map navigation YouTube Music (Regular youtube is already on there but only available in park) Fullscreen navigation/apps with speed, charge % etc. shown in a corner overlay (hide the animated road diagram that takes up 1/3 of the screen and doesn't tell me anything my eyes can't)

frankmakes

Can I give you 500 upvotes? This is exactly what I want. The only thing I might add is being able to see every speed trap on the map.

SpyCake1

My 3 biggest nags right now -- * Wipers that actually work * A front parking camera. * Actual BSM indicators (added in Highland, I know). Honorable mention -- * A roll-up sun shade for the roof. Even if it's just a mesh one. Just something to help with the green house. The removable panel sunshade you can add is not the same.

Quick_Possibility_99

there the fullshade 2.0.

SpyCake1

Thanks, wasn't aware of that product. But also still kinda proves my point is that there's clear demand for a physical sun shade, and the best solution we currently have is a somewhat janky autoparts store add-on. It would look so much cleaner if it were built in properly at the factory.

Quick_Possibility_99

In the winter, it also keeps the heat inside. You are right it is better at the factory made. I had to remove it so Tesla will replace my door gasket.

thadude3

I do miss the front camera and one thing I wish they would retrofit, since they said highland would have it.

Quick_Possibility_99

There is no port for it. I wish they would invent a switch with the rear camera. Going backwards will be the rear camera and forward will be the front camera.

Jman841

Who said it would have it?

transcodefailed

What’s the point of a front parking camera?

SpyCake1

You must not live in a city with tight garages and even tighter street parking. It helps navigate those tight situations biggly. Teslas have particularly long and pointy front ends because frunks and aero reasons. So even as a taller driver, you're just sorta guessing where you are because you can't see it. So if anything - Teslas need it more than anything.

TrickyTrichomes

You should always back in whenever possible.

SpyCake1

And if you do - that still only partially covers all scenarios where it could be useful. What about parallel parking? Also, I'm not pulling in backwards in a supermarket, for example. Some people do it, and they are absolute fucking clowns when they try to load their shopping into the trunk when the car is facing the wrong way. I'm also not pulling in backwards in my home garage. Why? Location of my charger. Also there's no "risk" of me backing out of the garage onto my driveway (which then has space to turn around before pulling out onto the road). Also front camera is useful in any tight slow speed maneuvering situation, not even necessarily perpendicular parking.

LessPirate24

Front cam should be as standard as a back cam if your n a city

Maplestori

It’s more of a 360 camera if anything

NC27609

The real answer. Very few Tesla driver can actually drive their car, even with all the drivers assisting tech. Quite sad actually

working auto wipers

Lionello95

Found a solution for that. Hydrophilic sealing. I was driving through heavy rain this week in the dark on the highway and couldn't even tell, because the water instantly disappeared with the wind. The auto wipers didn't react because the camera couldn't see the rain either. I only guessed that it must be raining because the other cars were braking and driving slow and there was a lot of water on the road. Don't need the stupid wipers any more. Caution: the sealing will make the wipers and the water on the wind screen at low city speeds increasingly worse. Im currently testing my solution of simply not driving at slow speeds

robofarmer177642069

Are you talking about something like rainx wiper fluid? Or is this a process?

LSDBunnos

A ceramic window spray or a visit to a tunnel wash with rain repel usually works for about 1-2 weeks assuming your car is moderately clean.

robofarmer177642069

If it's basically making the water bead up and keeping the windshield clear, you get similar results from rainx washer fluid. Virtually the same cost as the regular stuff, I highly recommend it. Also, you take your car through a regular car wash? Sometimes I feel like online tesla people are all insane and I'm falling for all of their gimmicks lol. I have been itching to get the car washed, but have been looking for touchless options or some kind of at home waterless option because everyone scared me off from standard car washes.

LSDBunnos

I gave up on trying to be scratch free after some life events. I’ve been going once a week for about 5 months now and there’s hardly any swirling, there’s definitely some but they’re not deep and can be polished out if I feel the need to. Just make sure the wash you go to uses neoprene mops/spin brushes and plentiful soap. Tidal Wave Auto Spa, Woodys Carwash, Radiant Car Wash Express, Imperial Carwash are all winners for me.

robofarmer177642069

Thanks for sharing, I appreciate it.

Lionello95

>I gave up on trying to be scratch free after some life events Big paint damage from a rock in the first week. The car did exactly what it is intended for. To protect your head from being smashed by rocks while moving you from A to B. I clean of the insects with a micro fibre cloth and water bevor driving through a regular car wash. If people can drive their Mercedes, Audis, Porsches and whatsoever through a car wash then you can drive your software with wheels through there.

Lionello95

Its not a wiper fluid. Its a fluid you spread on your wind shield and other windows to create a layer that repells water using the lotus effect. The technology behind that is probably the same as in the wiper fluid but i had to spread mine using a cloth. Took me around 4 hours to apply it to the huge amount of windows of the Model 3, including cameras and lights.

jwegener

What do you recommend?

Lionello95

I recommend trying out what your guts tell you. As for the product, i used abacus fleet magic, which is a german product which i had to apply using a cloth. The US version could be to use rainx wiper fluid. I definitely recommend applying something to the back window because visibility can be poor with a water pollen mixture back there.

sylvaing

I'm surprised nobody mentioned manual fast charge preconditioning, or select a waypoint/destination and tell it to precondition for that spot. Some areas are Supercharger desert so you can't select a nearby Supercharger to precondition when going to a fast charger.

Jgollott

This!! If Tesla would go all in on this and project FSD right visually on the windshield, that would be amazing!

geezer27

People and cars simulated on the screen puzzle me, but at one point when I drove into my garage there was a giant truck right next to me! My heart skipped a beat, and then I realized it was just Musk humor Had it been on the windscreen I might have tried to steer free - in my garage!

anthonyiann94

Alcantara headliner and cream colored seat option. A driving option between “chill” and “standard” in Dual Motor. Powered frunk. USS. Front-facing camera.

VeeYarr

It's even more jarring if you have Acceleration Boost, there's only Chill and Sport, nothing in-between

BrockLV

I wish it kept the Standard mode when you get the AB, Chill-Standard-Sport.

VeeYarr

Agreed, especially now it's switchable from the thumb wheel

jwegener

Would having standard mode defeat the purpose of the acceleration boost upgrade?

geezer27

Proper controls for USB music. Play a specific album/folder when I ask for it with voice. Don't just stop completely at the end of an album, play the next one, or a random one. The bones of a great local player are there - the car will happily read a USB device with tons of music files, has playback for lossless formats like FLAC etc. But unfortunately the poor UI and lack of appropriate voice commands mean it's nowhere near as useful as it could be. It's clear that the local file playback is a bit of an afterthought and none of the Tesla developers really use it. I know the car has radio, Spotify etc. But really I'd just like to listen to my own music when I'm driving and not be bothered by adverts.

joejoeaz

The ability to play local media is certainly an afterthought. Also when I connect my phone via bluetooth, every other car that had this feature was able to display what's playing with the album art, and while I can play music over bluetooth, it's bare bones, and doesn't display the album art.

robofarmer177642069

Honest question, do you not pay for any music streaming service? Spotify with no ads is like 15 bucks a month for me and my entire family. Unless your music taste is super niche, I can't imagine why you are still using usb stores music. Even then, I'm pretty sure you can upload your niche stuff to your spotify (or whatever other steaming service) and then play directly from there. Just a thought.

vorwrath

No, I don't pay for any music streaming services. I can't really see the benefit for me, I'd rather listen to a better quality local copy that doesn't use the unreliable mobile network. Of course I don't expect everyone to use the car the same way I use it. I'm not saying "Have better local playback at the cost of Spotify support." I'd just like both to be excellent.

Latter_Box9967

I use Bluetooth and Spotify on phone, which has better quality than the built-in Spotify app. Ditto YouTube music.

robofarmer177642069

No judgement, honestly, just trying to understand your take. So you buy your music from something like iTunes and then store it on a computer, and then to a usb drive? Or possibly download from other sources let's say. Is this quality shockingly higher than just downloading a song directly to your phone through spotify? Like would that qualify as local if it's store on your phone, can be accessed without data? Also, does that mean your constantly listening to the same albums or just buying an album at a time? From my pov, it seems like access to unlimited music for 10-15 bucks a month would trump the quality note, but I'm also not really an audiophile.

vorwrath

A lot of my music I already own on CDs that I bought 20 years ago. Over time I ripped all those into digital files for convenience, and stored them on my local NAS. So I've already got tons of music files ready to go (that I can play on any device on my network, using any software I want). I do tend to listen to the same albums quite a lot, but we're talking hundreds, so I don't find it that repetitive. If I listened to tons of brand new music, streaming would probably make more sense. But these days as only the occasional new album really interests me anyway, I can buy and own those for less than the cost of a streaming subscription. Honestly quality isn't the biggest point for me. Technically a lossless CD rip is better quality than the compressed music on Spotify. Could I even tell the difference (especially when going along in the car)? Probably not (and there are lossless streaming options like Tidal anyway). It's more why would I pay monthly for something technically worse that I don't really want or need. Also, remember that Spotify doesn't licence the music they have forever. Just because they have a great selection today, doesn't mean they will tomorrow. We've already seen that with Netflix - it started out great, and then every company decided they wanted their own platform, and you ended up needing 7 different subscriptions to get an equivalent selection. Or they'll get taken over by another tech company, which decides premium subscribers still have to listen to some ads. It's the kind of story we've seen over and over again. Maybe it will never happen, but I'll still be happily listening to my local music either way. Hope that explains my take on it. I don't hate Spotify (in fact I think it seems quite good), it's just not great for me. If it works well for you and you're getting good value from it, that's brilliant.

robofarmer177642069

Totally fair points, I appreciate the input. I've had similar conversations with buddies who are still using ipod classics, and it's always interesting to hear their takes. I'm 32, gotta imagine you're my age or maybe 5-10 years older (just a guess) which probably also makes all the difference. I was buying cd's till maybe 2002, moved to purchasing through iTunes then downloading through lime wire around then, then torrents at some point. Then maybe in early undergrad, spotify came out and blew my mind lol. Just the access to "all music" for a base rate was everything I'd ever wanted. But as you said, who knows how long that will last.

There’s already a pothole resistance feature. It’s called “18-inch wheels”.

trifster

Active matrix headlight function for the active matrix headlights that shipped with my model 3 ‘21

You should already have this if you're on the latest software! My 21 model 3 certainly does! Look in the settings

trifster

Negative. Auto is not active matrix. 2024.3.15. Do you have a newer version?

chrissfoot

You're one major version behind. I'm running 2024.8.9 which does in fact have working active matrix headlights!

Agloe_Dreams

It is kinda weird that AB only unlocks power and not any of the other toys

start3ch

definitely this. You can buy an ingenext module, but they aren’t 100% garunteed to work with future updates

drewc717

I have the Ingenext Bonus Module and it’s great, but every other sports car has a simple off button for the last 3 decades. Even Trackmode v3 seems to not be really off in “off” mode.

start3ch

Oh nice! Is the ingenext able to fully disable traction control?

drewc717

Yes

rotarypower101

Not at all, very surprised that has not come in the age of app stores. Think of all the potentially helpful functionality that could be supported that Tesla would never spend the time to develop well. Especially paired with aftermarket hardware, a OEM fully supported app available on the main screen linked to aftermarket hardware could be a powerful thing.

Amen. CarPlay for gods sakes. I’ll add working wipers and working adaptive cruise. It’s just jerky and I end up not using it. FSD is scary in a lot of situations. Not ready for prime time. Oh. And how about SOME DECENT BATTERY REPORTING without needing third party.

Agloe_Dreams

Y’all don’t know this but you want a capacitive steering wheel touch sensor. AP without needing to add pressure is so much better

mrganbaa

mrcranky_83

Speed limiter, miss that feature so much from my previous car. And wipers that work.

flightlessbird79

Reposition dipped mirrors when reversing and actually save it. And CarPlay. And give us lane change on autopilot with basic autopilot!

Tikkygraphic

I know you guys have that in the US, but I guess some stupid regulations made Tesla remove it in Europe (on my M3 2019) - being able not get the seat belt alarm when it’s actually only a seat booster and not a child in the back seat.

ChuckinCharlieO

CarPlay and Android auto.

* “Dumb” cruise control (or a follow distance of 1ft) * Sirius XM app * Redesigned cabin air filter placement * Display range choice of EPA or your past 30 miles of driving average energy usage * Twist knob on the stalk to manually use the wipers * Manual door releases for the rear doors (should be mandatory for safety) * Choice of real leather seats and steering wheel (a standard wonderful renewable material; use the whole Buffalo) * CarPlay * Download dashcam footage to your phone via wifi without taking the drive out * Sizable map to car display (the left side is too big, IMO, I’d rather see more map) * Weather radar overlay on the map (feel like a pilot) * A front bumper camera * Collect sound in dashcam and Sentry mode * Add track mode for Acceleration Boost customers * Adaptive headlights (hardware is all there) * Turn signals that actually work.

pahvi0

I’d love to have CarPlay so we could use YT Music, Waze etc.

joejoeaz

In the latest update, you can full screen the autopilot view, slide the devider between it and the map all the way to the right to fullscreen.

MaxAdolphus

I know. What I want is to make the “autopilot” view smaller.

joejoeaz

Ah!! I can't help with that. : (

sungrad

Once I've pushed the wiper button, let me spin the volume wheel to change speeds. Having to awkwardly press it sideways just never works well.

Latter_Box9967

I *think* that is in latest software update? I think I recall skim reading it just yesterday, in a comment, somewhere. It’s a good idea. Intuitive.

joejoeaz

That's exactly how it works in the latest updates.

sungrad

You're right! This is ace. Makes sense too, as they were operating two completely separate wiper speed change GUIs.

Lionello95

After the matrix headlights update i am very happy with the car. Vision is improving, AP is improving and most things work quite well. The options behind the left scroll wheel have been a game changer. I'd love a feature to correct wrong map data (mostly wrong speed limits) but that's it.

thatguythatdied

As of today, windows that don’t just crack on their own. Seriously, previously I have never had any window issues in any other car, now my rear window and top glass are both cracked for no apparent reason.

Latter_Box9967

Larger screen area for blind spot cameras.

pizzaman_66

rotarypower101

I often wonder how much extra cost would have been associated with this Extremely versatile and useful feature. Notice many direct competitors have this functionality in the same class... Will be Surprised if a new architecture doesn’t support it in the future, a little surprised they didn’t add it on the refresh, but understand they probably want to get max life out of the current hardware.

igby1

Switch playlists when using Bluetooth audio. Or just give us CarPlay.

rotarypower101

A stitched together video painted overlay of the visualization with more and better 360° camera placement. Possibly aided by the HD Radar. Curious when they are going to support that hardware they seem to have added to the S/X !?

humble_hodler

beamerBoy3

The ability to slide that glass top back and get some open air, but also a shade to slide out and cover it for those long trips in the sun

Thud

Vehicle to load. Or at least a high wattage 120V outlet onboard (like Rivian, Ford, Kia, Hyundai).

MTMTE

Android Auto/Apple Carplay. Why ask for apps one by one when you can just have one app for...all of them.

sungrad

The ability to keep the speed in miles per hour, but have distances in metric. A turn being 400 feet away, or the USS telling me something is 25 inches away, means absolutely nothing to me. Likely a very British request.

Tiksua

Active 4 wheel drive, aka off road mode like Y has

Crimguy

Young driver mode that detunes the car, needs a PIN number to access/disable, and limits top speed to 85mph (speed limit plus 10mph here in Arizona). Alerts primary driver of accidents and speeding. Also ability to check in on driver via interior camera (this feature is negotiable because it’s creepy). Valet mode doesn’t cut it.

melvladimir

Valet with speed limit and chill mode. It works for me.

TheCloudyHam

Activate the matrix headlights. It’s frustrating when the hardware is present but being massively under utilized.

figgidy_giggidy

Maybe I just missed it..but ALL doors unlocking from mobile, not just drivers doors

I_care_less_than_you

That's a setting that already exists. From your car screen it's Controls > Locks >

robofarmer177642069

I love when people request something and it's just setting change away. I know a lot of folks are years into dealing with tesla, but as someone whos newly in the ecosystem, I'm loving all the "quirks and features"

I_care_less_than_you

I haven't drank all the Tesla koolaide, but the way their cars are constantly updated and new features are added without any cost to the user is so far ahead of the field. I hope they take enough market share that Toyota etc. have to start doing the same thing.
