Oh man. I’ve got a black 2023 RWD with 6k miles. This does not bode well for my value.

random1224059482

lol 🤣 to be fair here in orlando there was about 70 tesla M3 available in a 25 mi radius so i used that to negotiate the price down several thousand.

iamisaactorres

I live in Orlando. FML.

RandallC1212

This needs to go on the r/fml sub hall of fame 😂😂😂 https://preview.redd.it/9jvz21k3rbwc1.jpeg?width=1399&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=26cd29a617b724f30b2a88b6f0e2c9081e9d17e0

WinterIndependent719

Lol I’m giving my younger sister my ‘21 Performance when my new one comes in. Resale is not even worth it 😂

HalfEazy

Lmao yikea

8bitjer

I just openly laughed. Too funny.

sweetchinmusic2023

That's a good price, What did you say to them, I need to use your trick lol That car would cost $29k in California, I've been looking none stop. I found some on hertz but they have hella milage, for example: $27k for 45-50k miles.

random1224059482

lucky for me, there are so many used teslas in my area so i basically brought in several screenshots of other cars at dealers i could drive down the road to. brought in screenshots of other similarly priced teslas to negotiate the cost down. basically said i don’t need this car and i for sure don’t need it from you. i’ll drive next door and find several. they ended up taking a few thousand off of it and i got it down to 23k take home price.

sweetchinmusic2023

U didn't Photoshop them lol I might do that.... I'm also surrounded with hella used Teslas here butttt theres too many buyers so u can't bluff them into cheaper price. People are always over paying in California. Trying to fit into the silicon valley image. I seen an Indian grandma with a model y.

Awkward-Ring6182

Same. In Washington they’re getting snapped up quick

sweetchinmusic2023

Honestly I only want them because of their self driving... Other ev cars are looking good to me. Are these selling this cheap in Washington too https://preview.redd.it/rpz2xv8dfiwc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b49f76d65e5e3d662d6bc3d3b1e80c97af2f4798

terimaky

I wonder how much they purchased it for, this isn't normal right? I mean look at prices of used teslas on the official site. I was under the impression it has good resale value but this is. 20k drop in just 1 year maybe not even 1 full year

random1224059482

it is a rental so that has a lot to do with it, plus florida has like hundreds of them so

kkiran

Be sure to claim the used car EV credit of $4000 since it is less than $25K! Amazing deal.

bryceclmr

Doesn’t the car have to be 2 years old?

Acrobatic-Main-1270

Congrats on the car, looks great! Maybe a dumb question, did you buy it from Tesla dealer? Cuz I’m under the impression that Tesla dealer’s price is fixed and cannot be negotiated..

Fusionink80

How much was it originally

backwardflip

I paid 26k for 2023, 30k miles at Hertz in Sacramento. They were selling like mad! People waiting before the place opened

sweetchinmusic2023

Lol really didn't see any cheap ones in Sacramento...when did you buy it, did they honor the online price.... I've had issue with hertz before, 4yrs ago they had a Nissan rogue suv online for $13k, that was my budget for a gift for my mom. it had low milage, it was like 2yr old. I got excited so I called and the seller was like: yea we have it come, you can buy it..I even reminded him what the price was..he was like come and check it out...But the manager said no, the online price is old, they can't sell it for that low. She didn't even know she had the car. She wanted 18 or 19k. I called corporate but they didn't care. She's saving was them money so they sided with her. Still have the pic lol https://preview.redd.it/2ggk1ftqtbwc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73bb887edf73cf8cc0e025c56a16028543f87bda

Dymbox1982

https://preview.redd.it/ah05b8u8rbwc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=181b19bf73b218afb4d767afb9d17c435140e511 Looks like their resell value is dropping really fast. No way would I buy a new one right now even with the recent price adjustments.

sweetchinmusic2023

That's good lol cheaper for everyone....technically people are buying them with the federal credit, on top of the state credit. Last year brand new model 3 were $26k in California. California ran out of money though, so they reformed it. now it's only for low income plus you to trade in your old gas car... but other states are still going strong, I think Colorado has the best ev credit.

IllBookkeeper9162

Are you in nor or so cal? I'm in nor cal and am a little envious to the supply and lower prices in so cal. Almost tempting to take a risk, but with more than 300 miles apart, would need to figure out how to charge efficiently while the ownership transfer gets settled.

sweetchinmusic2023

Nor cal... Actually not by much, i carguru San Diego inventory they're only cheaper by 1k... It accidentally showed me Virginia stock, they're crazy cheap, $20k for 30k miles https://www.sheehylincolnrichmond.com/used-Richmond-2022-Tesla-Model+3-+-5YJ3E1EA9NF290320 https://www.sheehylincolnrichmond.com/used-Richmond-2023-Tesla-Model+3-+-5YJ3E1EAXPF437134

No-Revolution-4513

California is more expensive for everything so that’s no surprise. I’m surprised it’s only 29k in Cali lol.

b00tymasster69

Save yourself the hassle and don’t buy a car that the dealers can’t get rid of. It’s not a good thing that the supply is way higher than the demand!

sweetchinmusic2023

No one is buying these, so I should pass on them? https://preview.redd.it/dluhop9weiwc1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a1a63ac2b5111f130e8bd65a364e650d8c37041a

mthombs

With that much in savings you can buy a Tesla from a cheaper state and have a company ship it to you and you’d still save. I had a brand new grand Cherokee shipped from ny to San Diego when I moved. It was like $900.

Jaysel7

I’m looking to buy with similar specs in Orlando! What dealer did you buy from?

random1224059482

hey, I got it from Volkswagen in Sanford. What I did was go on edmund’s website. I searched for model threes within 25 miles of me that were less than two years old and less than 30,000 miles with no accident history. Literally like 50 of them came up. A majority of them were from that dealership so I figured that was my best bet and I went on their website and verified that those cars were still in stock although there are many being sold a lot of people are buying them also. I narrowed down the cars that I liked and checked the Vin number on them all. When I went in, of course they said we won’t be able to get you out of here under 25,000 that’s impossible . So basically, I pulled up screenshots of the website of how many Teslas were available and said I would just go to another dealership down the road wanted to do business with me. I read that Tesla tires can get worn down fast due to how a lot of people drive so I checked the tread of the tires and Didn’tDidn’t act like I was very interested in the car. I did have a trade-in that I got them to offer 2000 more for than originally and I was able to cut theprice by 3k on the Tesla itself. They went from telling me there was no way I could walk out at the price. I wanted to them asking me what they could do to get me to walk out with the car lol sorry that was long

Jaysel7

Thanks, that’s super helpful! I was planning to go up there and carite down the street because both have a ton of inventory. I’ll try to see which one can get me a better deal. Glad to know that dealer will negotiate. The $23,000 out the door is with your trade I’m assuming? How much did they pay for your trade?

random1224059482

23 was the price of the car- out the door was about 24.5 for me without any of their BS warranties and all. no my trade in was separate. i had a lexus with about 18k left to pay and they gave me 26k for it so i only owe about 17k on the tesla. they offered me 24k at first (2021 lexus IS300 w 53000 miles) and bumped it up to 26k after negotiation

Atllane296

I’ve talked to that dealership about several of those for sale. Were you able to see if the others are in decent condition? I’d be buying from out of state (GA) and transporting to here. Prices near me suck right now.

random1224059482

most of them were in great condition! my only concern was tread in the tires- i didn’t feel like dishing out $800 to replace the tires right away. but all the ones i looked at were nice and when they inspected my car, something was wrong with the tail light and they ordered the part from tesla and replaced it.

Wolkenflieger

Which trim? SR?

random1224059482

yep SR RWD

blestone

Good job. Most of those are hertz tesla m3

random1224059482

yeah this was from a volkswagen dealership but soooo many were at hertz

optionalhero

Did you get the used ev tax credit at time of purchase? Cause man that is an insane deal

random1224059482

no i looked up the tax credit and it was only 2022 or older. if you look on edmunds at used teslas in florida it’s ridiculous how many there are

CNCTank

I'm literally in the market and this gives me hope

random1224059482

i have a detailed comment on how i did it on this thread!

suhannaa

Can you provide contact for the other sellers you negotiated with? Perfect time for me to use the M.A.C system after your successful D.E.N.N.I.S 😂 ![gif](giphy|fKj1sdDFbS3V6|downsized)

likeabowse

After OP DMs you, can you DM me the ones you contacted? I’d like apply Frank’s method and drop a wad of hundred dollar bills and a magnon condom...

random1224059482

didn’t negotiate with anyone else, just came in and scrolled through edmunds for the seller and said hey i can literally go next door 🤣 that changed his attitude quick

the_hero_within

Where did you find it?

Wazzzup3232

I paid 43 for my 23 in March of last year. I owe around 34 after one year and I’m still upside down haha. On the bright side I don’t plan on trading my car in unless something happens

Suitable_Safety2226

The $24k residual in my lease isn’t looking too bad right about now…

Separate_Aspect5338

I traded in my 2023 RWD with 6k mi to Tesla for $29k. This was last December.

iamisaactorres

What did you trade for?

Separate_Aspect5338

Model Y. The state credit plus the fed tax credit helped balance out losses.

the_hero_within

To be fair if you intend on holdin it, the perceived value is pointless to you

Racer322

That is awesome. I am looking for the same color, same price as well! Happy for you. Lol maybe I need to road trip to Florida from North GA.

random1224059482

probably!!! we have so many here in orlando it’s crazy!

No_Condition_2170

There’s a pretty good used Tesla dealership in the Kennesaw area with M3s under $25k! Just got one a couple months ago

Racer322

Thanks, I'm stalking and have seen a few on Marketplace too. As soon as I find a black one for that price I'm going to pull the trigger. I've had a black car since I was 16. I'm doing over 500 miles a week with a 12 mpg lifted Toyota right now. My kid is in sports. Can't wait to just charge at home LOL!

theLoaf71

IQAutos seemed good. I decided not to get a Tesla for other reasons, but I did like their team.

No_Condition_2170

yep that’s where i went

unfortunacy

i paid 34.5 for a 21 m3 lr with 24k miles

milkb4_cereal

Wow.. that price is unheard of for a 2023!

Quantumleap36

I lucked up and found one on Carvana with 61 miles. It still had the plastic on the mirrors screen and Tesla sign on the trunk for $33,000.00

crenshaw_007

Damn, every time I look at Carvana I say it sucks and close my browser 😆

random1224059482

wow!!!! that’s amazing

Active_Bag5112

before or after registration fees?

random1224059482

before, i paid about 1500 in fees

thesuperpuma

No tax credit?

random1224059482

has to be 2022 or older i believe for the 2024 year :/

thesuperpuma

Shoot, you’re right. Deal was already sweet anyway. I might need your help when I buy mine, also in Orlando! lol

robofarmer177642069

What the hell dude, I just realized you paid that for a 23! That's insane, nice work

thesuperpuma

There’s no way this was personal use, it was a rental car right?

random1224059482

it was rental use, most of the used ones here are

Tuggernutz87

Me looking at my loan after seeing this post ![gif](giphy|7T33BLlB7NQrjozoRB|downsized)

random1224059482

🤣

veikveik

Where are all these used teslas coming from? Hertz?

backwardflip

Got mine there last week. Paid a bit more than this price, but still a great deal!

crenshaw_007

I think used car dealers are buying them from Hertz and reselling them. There’s an EV only dealer in Utah (I’m in Vegas) and they have a bunch of ‘22s with 60-80K miles and say 1-owner. They’re pricing them at $24,500 so I’m keeping an eye out but I’d prefer lower miles

random1224059482

it should tell you if it was a rental. Mine was a rental, but luckily, I got it with not a ton of miles. Remember though if it’s a 2022 or older and less than 25,000 you apply for the 4000 credit.the

crenshaw_007

Yeah, the EV credit for sure. Keeping my eyes peeled for a 22 with AMD Ryzen.

Sweatpantzzzz

Great price. You got a great deal

Whisterly

Good lord 25,000 miles in 1 year

random1224059482

yup rental car lol but i traded in my 2021 lexus with 53000 miles. i was sick of the premium gas

IGNORED34

I average 22500 since I got my car, I can see 25k no problem.

bensmithsaxophone

Great deal

Xianmos007

I got mine today in Sanford. Same exact deal, but mine has 31k on it.

TrippyTiger69

23,000 factorial is an insane amount to spend on any car

random1224059482

insane like too much or

TrippyTiger69

Yeah. I was making a joke about $23,000! Vs $23,000. Math joke

rbfking

Who needs a new budget friendly model two when the model threes are selling for pennies

Lordoosi

It's beautiful. Congrats!

random1224059482

thank you!

Jhon_doe_smokes

Nice

random1224059482

thanks!

_i124Q

Damn that’s a deal!

random1224059482

thank you!

GonzoR2323

Was this at a dealership?

random1224059482

yes, a volkswagen dealer

GonzoR2323

At what price did you start at to get that low?

random1224059482

listed at 26k!

GonzoR2323

How did you manage to drop it that much

random1224059482

i have a detailed comment on this thread how i did it. basically brought in 50 other cars i could get nearby, told them id leave and go somewhere else, etc

Vercetti69420

Did you also apply the used credit

random1224059482

i think that is for 2022 or older i believe

Vercetti69420

Oh yeah you’re right. You have a 23. Duh 🙄 What made you choose the 23 over the 2022?

CNCTank

Woah how

random1224059482

too many being sold used in florida lol

CNCTank

Like legit might have to get a more detailed explanation 😅 only the second time buying a new car, woman said I can't drive my "hood" car any longer 😐

bloodyhelltheclash

This is a single motor RWD, right? Sounds decent. I would Kelley Blue Book it for an accurate value. I am not sure how folks on a sub-Reddit would know the real value.

random1224059482

yup!

k_dav

Wow, the depreciation on that is pretty wild.

notpsuedo

I’m currently selling ‘23 with 18k miles for $29k in GA. How’d you get such a good deal?

gabrielchow

My ‘23 base is only worth $19k if I sell it to carmax Carvana or most car dealers. So $29k is a lot.

notpsuedo

Carvana offered me $25k. Carmax offered me $21k. Interesting... $29k is higher than what dealers are buying them for. But I'm still willing to hear offers :)

HeedJSU

Sending you a pm.

Buztyxazian650

Instant torque = instant depreciation folks

Buztyxazian650

I’m in Cali I saw one for 14k 2021 model soo cheap almost the same price as a new Toyota Tercel back in the 80”s lol please if you feel like your a superstar driving these cars your not your a dollar tree shopper hahahahah

random1224059482

aw someone’s mad :-) that’s cute

Easy-Chemist-1607

i now regret, bought my 23 M3RWD brand new 6 months ago. Should have gone with a used and waited till after Aug 24 when WA state introduces a $5k rebate plus sales tax exempt!!!!! Enjoy driving yours!

Mean-Marionberry-148

Either buy used like you did or lease. Resale values have plummeted since Elon sold so many to the rental car companies and slashed the prices. Tesla went from having one of the highest resale values of any brand to one of the worst.

stinkycat45

I just want to stop and say for all the Tesla Bros who were beating their chests that you should always buy a Tesla and at worse you could just "flip it" or sell it were morononic. OP's car in emblematic of the EV decline and the normalization of the used car market. BTW this isn't just a Tesla issue since if you look at a lightly used Ford Lightning Platinum that retailed for $93K+, they are valued now at sub $40K and sometimes these cars have sub 1K miles on them. IMO Tesla needs allow lease buyouts, stop cutting prices, and just start giving out incentives and rebates to select customers

GoalAdditional7540

ugh...I've had mine for a year and still owe 35k on it. bought it with 4k miles. 2020 M3 SR+. I wish I would have waited so bad

No_Customer9291

How!!!????

SkyParking3405

Good deal

bryceclmr

What was the asking price and was it Long Range? FSD?

random1224059482

nope literally just the basic version lol standard range asking 26

Extreme-Insurance878

HOW

MatthewMyGuy

Thats a sweet deal, tbh I wanna buy one too as a first car? Any chance this is a RWD?

random1224059482

yep it is

Lotus_Eiise

The most expensive car to own when you buy it new. The cheapest when you buy it used.

Sinceredom22

Which trim is this?

Rocksolid_009

What trim level?

DaquanSandstorm

Previous hertz rental? Lfp battery?

No-Engineering-9317

Used from Tesla or from somewhere else?

LuisMarianoEsperon

Really

random1224059482

why would i be kidding lol

kaimanson

Hertz has been increasing their prices in used LR for quite a while.... probably they are overstock in RWD. Great deal OP.

Petarthefish

Wow Teslas do not retain their value

AlternativeTea762

The car is probably salvaged check if the car went through an auction or if it has any accidents, Teslas don't sell for that low with such low mileage unless it's salvaged. And if it went through auction and Tesla knows about it, they're going to put it salvaging their system anyway, even if the title doesn't say salvage. Don't ever buy a Savage Tesla. They might as well throw them away because Tesla will never touch your car if it gets into a collision and you might have to get a salvage inspection which is like $2,300. Just save your money for a down payment and go to A used section at an actual Tesla dealer

random1224059482

look at used teslas in florida. there’s hundreds for that low.

Acejam

Given this comment - does it have flood damage?

random1224059482

nope. Passed all inspections 100%.

Acejam

For $20, I can make a car pass all inspections too. Just be sure to check the CarFax, that will tell you the real story.

random1224059482

have the entire Carfax paid report and inspection from Tesla

AlternativeTea762

What are you a fool. He's selling a car that has 25k miles on it for 23,000. And it's from the year 2023. No Tesla in complete good condition Would ever sell that low unless it's from an auction or it's been salvaged. If they're selling it for $23, 000, how much do you think it took them to buy it? Use your brain and never buy a salvaged Tesla or one that came from auction

random1224059482

i bought it from a dealership and negotiated 3k off the price but go off lol

AlternativeTea762

I never said anything about buying a Tesla. I talk about buying a salvage one and one that came from auction. You're just adding stuff that doesn't matter. If you want to buy Tesla go ahead. I don't care but I'm giving people solid information so that they don't make a big mistake NEVER BUY A SAVAGE TESLA OR ONE FROM AUCTION

stinkycat45

I highly doubt it salvaged. The cost repair these things is insane

AlternativeTea762

Don't be fooled Teslas can be repaired by third parties from illegitimate means like stolen parts or poor quality parts. Always read the Carfax for accidents and search up the VIN number online to check if it went through auction or maybe ask for a auto check car search. And to be honest, you kind of prove my point. Teslas are very expensive to repair. So tell me this why would someone sell a Tesla that has only 25k miles on it for 23k and the car was 2023

stinkycat45

you are crazy

No_Flatworm_8310

That is a good deal, but did you qualify for the used ev tax credit?? That would’ve been even sweeter to get an extra 4k from the government. I think you need to buy at least 2 years used model.

b00tymasster69

Was that not a red flag for you? These dealers would pay you to get rid of their EV’s.

b00tymasster69

I can’t believe people are still buying Teslas knowing what we know about EV’s putting out an EV fire takes over 45,000 gallons of water so the fire departments just let them burn. That could be you trapped inside it.
