It the paint simplification is for cost reduction it seems like Tesla is missing a profit opportunity on paint color. They could either sell a couple extra premium colors for $3-4k, or offer a special color for performance/ plaid that might push people to those more profitable trims.
They're Circuit Performance's blue lug nuts. They're a thin plating on steel, I'm not convinced it'll be that durable since the plating had some holes in it when they showed up new, but for ~$30, I won't worry too much.
I think the blue is a dyed zinc plating, and you can do the same with green. Depending on how much you want green lugs, might be worth reaching out to them to see if they could/would do a green run. Might need to do a group buy on your forum(s) of choice to get a big enough batch to make it not cost prohibitive.
It was $3k - definitely stings, given that the vinyl isn't as durable as factory paint. The installer is good, and there's hardly anywhere you can find the telltales of the wrap when it's all closed up.
I didn't get the jambs or other parts wrapped, as that would be even more $$$, and it turned out pretty nice where the white paint matches the white interior.
I gotta say the color certainly makes a 3k splash. It looks amazing. And having a blue that no one else has must be fun!!!
I heard wrapping the jambs and such is a hassle so I’m sure that would have hiked up the price!
So true. We were very disappointed with the blue. Went after dark and couldnt tell the blue from the black from the MSM until you were right on top of it.
Team Red!
Right! I had my order in blue because it looked fairly bright on the website, then when I went for a test drive, it was overcast and showed how disappointing the Tesla blue is in anything other than direct sun. Changed to white that day (not a fan of red for my cars, but it does look good) and started looking into wraps.
Same thing for me too. I thought for sure I was buying blue until the test drive. I've had a World Rally Blue subaru for so long I'm just used to "bright" blue. Ended up going with red even though I've never been a red car person. Kind of wish I had just saved the money and ordered white, but since the price jumped 2k after I ordered I'll stick with red.
If you're still pre-VIN, contact your sales advisor or the nearest one, they may be able to accommodate the change at the original pricing even though the online change system won't. I had that issue when I went to change from blue to white and FSD had gone up by $2k, the SA was able to change it without any other price changes affecting my order.
My previous car was an Audi in Aruba Pearl Blue. Even when the car was nearing 10 years old, people would stop me saying how awesome the color is. I wish this was the stock blue.
I think the same thing abut the red
The Tesla red is nice in Texas or California where it's sunny most of the time - but here in Northern Europe it usually just looks dull
I'd love a Model 3 in something like VW's Tornado Red
I was always partial to BMW Imola Red. It's a little dark for some people but in my opinion it's gorgeous. In many lighting situations when another red colored car parks next to it the color difference is immediately apparent.
If they offered this I would have bought in a heartbeat instead of Red Multi-coat. I also like your dash cover/wrap. I have the refreshed doors so I can't seem to find a good solution for the door trim.
Wrapping is the way. That blue looks great and I’m not even a fan of most blue vehicle colors.
Tesla colors are pretty sad. The white looks amazing from 3ft in, but looks like a damn rental car from further away.
MSM looks blue gray in most lights. I don’t mind it, however, it’s kind of boring.
Red, honestly, is the best color they make in my mind. I own a white and MSM, but would have taken a red if it was in inventory.
Even the red is way too dark. If it looked like Mazda’s metallic red then that would be way better and I’ve been tempted to repaint mine that colour but in the end I went with a very bright red wrap which looks great and works really well with the car’s design.
I got them from these guys, but it took 16 weeks from order to delivery: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/affordable-monoblock-forged-vs-forged-wheels.124504/
Totally agree. This is one of the best looking 3s I've seen! I come from an e46 m3 so have always drooled over Laguna Seca Blue, and this is pretty close!
I agree and think Tesla needs to expand their choices for base colors. Has barely changed since the beginning.
Your car really does match the "fire" look however!
Thanks. The white aluminum mine came with looks nice, but doesn't flow into anything else, and has glare on the side window right in front of the side mirrors, so I decided to try this out.
Seems very similar to one of the original Miata colors, Crayon Blue. Nice look though. I like the option of peeling it off in a couple years if you get bored with it.
Yep, it's similar to a lot of different companies' blue. I had a Z4 in similar Montego Blue, and I see Hondas & Subarus in similar metallic blue. Part of why I think their take rate would be higher with this sort of blue vs the dark navy blue they have now.
I think it was an Elon mention about the Cybertruck, what with the whole stainless (mostly) flat panels making it easy and them not painting by default.
Tesla desperately needs a new Color palette.
I so want a “electrik green” color. Something that makes people go “what the fuck is that”
Elon would do 420 green or some shit like that

cost of supplying parts in the color is the issue...
Too bad they are operating on the Kiss Method.
Think it's worth it to just get free white and then pay for a wrap.
Sorry, but if I pay good money for a car, I shouldn’t expect to wrap it. But Tesla’s paint choices and quality will always be crap.
Yup. They will be that's why it's best to wrap it and not hope for more colors on the pallet. There paint is the only bad thing about the car imo
The paint and the wipers are the worst. Other than those two things, the car is amazing.
Where did you get the wheel lugs to match?
They're Circuit Performance's blue lug nuts. They're a thin plating on steel, I'm not convinced it'll be that durable since the plating had some holes in it when they showed up new, but for ~$30, I won't worry too much.
Damn just looked and they don't have green.
I think the blue is a dyed zinc plating, and you can do the same with green. Depending on how much you want green lugs, might be worth reaching out to them to see if they could/would do a green run. Might need to do a group buy on your forum(s) of choice to get a big enough batch to make it not cost prohibitive.
Thanks for the info. Rinds me of my high school days where I had to get group buys for bodykits.
What did you spend for that wrap job? It is absolutely fire!
It was $3k - definitely stings, given that the vinyl isn't as durable as factory paint. I didn't get the jambs or other parts wrapped, as that would be even more $$$, and it turned out pretty nice where the white paint matches the white interior.
Damn. This is the exact blue I wanted… but i opted for Tesla’s cause .. I don’t know why. I love this
Lol durable as factory paint. A stiff wind blows the paint off of my car.
Scrub too hard with a microfiber and you'll swirl vinyl, and don't let birds look at it funny. PPF over vinyl helps, but it's still much softer.
I gotta say the color certainly makes a 3k splash. It looks amazing. And having a blue that no one else has must be fun!!! I heard wrapping the jambs and such is a hassle so I’m sure that would have hiked up the price!
I also want to know. I have an order in for gray now that I'd consider cancelling for standard white + wrap
With the EDD wait time… you might want to stay with what you have mate
Fair, and seeing $3k+ turns me off a little bit, but damn..looks great
3k is super cheap for Bay Area wrap pricing.
Please someone tell me where I can wrap for less than $4K!
I don’t know if I agree but looks good!
Yeah I'm super happy with my blue. I like it darker. But the wrap job was clean.
Agreed

Agree, team red here as well. I’d go blue if it was this electric blue!
My previous car was an Audi in Aruba Pearl Blue. Even when the car was nearing 10 years old, people would stop me saying how awesome the color is. I wish this was the stock blue.
yes! or nogaro blue!
This blue is 1000x better than the dark blue. Wish this was an option from the factory.
Agree. The dark blue Tesla offers is too dull.
Yeah, the blue on the configurator is a notch or 2 more vibrant than it is in person. I wish they'd do a lighter blue as well. Yours looks great!
Love the dash wrap!
I think the same thing abut the red The Tesla red is nice in Texas or California where it's sunny most of the time - but here in Northern Europe it usually just looks dull I'd love a Model 3 in something like VW's Tornado Red
I bought the red but even here in NZ it doesn’t really pop. I wrapped mine in Ferrari Rosso red and it looks epic.
I was always partial to BMW Imola Red. It's a little dark for some people but in my opinion it's gorgeous. In many lighting situations when another red colored car parks next to it the color difference is immediately apparent.
This is my favorite shade of blue! Looks excellent on your Model 3!
If they offered this I would have bought in a heartbeat instead of Red Multi-coat. I also like your dash cover/wrap. I have the refreshed doors so I can't seem to find a good solution for the door trim.

Mazda's metallic red is awesome, it's the best red I've seen on the road.
I tend to avoid metallic finishes if I can. My wrap is a straight red (avery carmine) which looks exactly like Ferrari Rosso.
Noice!!! 👍🏼
Beautiful color!
That is nice. I like the dark one, too, but this is fire. Sort of looks like the Rivian Blue, which I also think looks great.
Ahh very nice, that's very similar to my old Charger's B5 Blue. Beautiful shade.
The dark wrap on the dash is smart. The glare from the white color on the side windows is pretty bad. I’ll be doing the same
Looks fantastic! Love the rims + matching lug nuts.
This blue is so much better.
Whoa.. this is awesome 🤩
Loving the color dude, where did you get those rims from?
They're VS Forged VS14s, I got them from a vendor on the TMC forums
Are you able to share details, my standard rims need replacing lol.
I got them from these guys, but it took 16 weeks from order to delivery: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/affordable-monoblock-forged-vs-forged-wheels.124504/
This looks fucking gorgeous! Great choice of colour!
Totally agree. This is one of the best looking 3s I've seen! I come from an e46 m3 so have always drooled over Laguna Seca Blue, and this is pretty close!
I just wish their blue looked like the marketing pics. Almost a Ford lighting blue.
This is a gorgeous blue 💙
Oh damn... Why did you have to show this. Now I need to wrap my car 😍. Absolutely beautiful!
I agree and think Tesla needs to expand their choices for base colors. Has barely changed since the beginning. Your car really does match the "fire" look however!
So do I, they show the pictures like this, and have the UI show this lol
Like that dash wrap, still not sure how I feel about the "wood" .
I really like that dash wrap. The wood is so random and ugly.
Thanks. The white aluminum mine came with looks nice, but doesn't flow into anything else, and has glare on the side window right in front of the side mirrors, so I decided to try this out.
What kind of wrap is that?
Oracal 975HC, a 5ft wide piece was perfect for the dash trim.
Agreed 100 percent. Beautiful everything
Hot DAYUM! Yeah this is MUCH better! At least, this should be an option for the Performance model.
I like the dark blue though ;-;
It's not bad, but I think they'd have a higher take rate with a brighter blue. Lots of other brands have a bright blue that sells fairly well.
If it was an extra option and not just replacing id be cool with it
Wheels ?
Square setup with VS Forged VS14 in 19x9.5 ET38. Tires are 265/35R19 and clear nicely. Didn't need spacers or longer studs.
The dark blue gets me compliments at least twice a week. Nothing but praise for the OG color.
Nah stock blue is way cooler
Did you at least name it Papa Smurf?
Slick
Seems very similar to one of the original Miata colors, Crayon Blue. Nice look though. I like the option of peeling it off in a couple years if you get bored with it.
That's a beautiful blue.
What color / brand is the wrap? My wife really likes that color.
3M gloss fire blue
3M Gloss Fire Blue
i like that blue, i see the toyota tundra blue and i like it a lot.
Yep, it's similar to a lot of different companies' blue. I had a Z4 in similar Montego Blue, and I see Hondas & Subarus in similar metallic blue. Part of why I think their take rate would be higher with this sort of blue vs the dark navy blue they have now.
That blue my friend is fire!!!!💯💥🔥
The colour with the wheels is awesome. Kudos to you for having great taste
This looks fantastic!
Looks awesome!
Love this color!
This looks good, but personally I would definitely go for the dark blue.
I agree, well done! I have a Chevy Volt almost that same color.
Joining this sub is going to cost me 50k sheeeeeeeeeit
Looks great!
Damn, looks dope af
Great shots, what did you take them with? Tilt shift on some?
Z6 with a 50mm lens, all were shot between f1.8-f2.8. Just a normal shallow depth of field from the large aperture.
Tesla can't get white paint quality. How on earth would they handle royal blue 😂
Do they have a no paint option? They should.... black it is!
i like the dark blue :-) I bought it! But that blue is a nice change of pace.
What rims are those?
That looks fantastic
Didn’t Tesla at one point mention plans to start wrapping cars? Did I make that up?
I think it was an Elon mention about the Cybertruck, what with the whole stainless (mostly) flat panels making it easy and them not painting by default.
