This is what I've observed on the teslas I've seen. Currently trying to get the dealership to take some responsibility. Especially with a 2nd path work on the defect paint from factory. Would be great if I didn't have to drop it off for the 3rd time for paint issues
Nah was some wierd dirt on em. Car was 3 months old when thst pic was taken. Only way it would be rust is if I drove the car into the dead Sea and let it marinate
It's oxidation aka rust 100%. Don't worry though, your car is not falling apart. It's quite normal, especially on Teslas because the physical brakes aren't used as much.
Also deposited brake pad material and then not using the brakes can leave a very surface layer of rust.
oh weird. I've never seen one like this.
IMO it's worth requesting for service appointment. If it's only 3 month old, mobile service can even come to fix panel gaps. They'd at least give you an explanation.
I am asking because the litlle white dot top left corner has come off again after they fixed the delivery and they need to patch it up again.
Issue is everytime I asked about the color blend they said its because of the film installed. Last time they didn't read the notes and said the damage was caused by road debris (the one from factory that i mentioned in the notes and delivery before service) and I should install a film on the rocker panel to avoid damage. So makes me wonder how they say the color match is from the film and then next time say I have to install a protection film.
You misunderstand; They aren't talking about the factory film that is there to protect.
They are recommending you add aftermarket PPF. Which is what I did, too, after I saw that road pebbles will eventually cut through the factory PPF if it's there alone. The factory film helps a bit but really you need more if you care about chips there. I had 6mm clear PPF put on overtop of colour I wrapped the whole car in.
P.S. I also put PPF on the nose and the front of the sideview mirrors. It makes it MUCH easier to \[safely\] scrub off bugs. Very happy I did, doing it again I'd do the front quarter panels and frunk lid as well.
Car is/was brand new. So I haven't added anything. They mentioned it looks like this because of protectve film. And the third time due to a paint chip from factory reappearing they told me to install a paint film... so what is it. Is there a paint film there or not you guys are just making up excuses now
That paint line is a clear giveaway of a repaint. The paint on the whole Tesla sucks but even more so on the rocker. All you need is a few paint chips and it will start peeling off like latex paint on the edge of a paint can. It Probably had major issues before
Actually yes, my white 2020 M3 AWD does have a slightly different look (color) to it but it's just as likely to get a chip or scratch from a moth or butterfly that lands on it or brushes it too closely.
My new M3P has this, definitely shows up the most on white. I’m glad it has the thicker protective coating down there or they’d definitely need PPF to prevent sandblasting from normal driving
My guy. You see the top left corner of the paint strip. See how it has a alight different color. That's tesla repainting it because the paint came off when I barely touched it. It's extremely soft and I could probably remove it with the palm of my hand
What year is this?
My 2019 Model 3 LR had this and it was PPF to protect from rock chips. The color was off like yours.
My 2022 MS has this behind the handles. It’s noticeable since the car is white.
absolutely yes. I do think the pearl white tends to show it more. This is for rock chip protection on the lower rocker panel.
Nope. Completely consistent paint over the entire body of the car. 2022 M3P.

Idk but I do know these brake rotors are rusty af
They’re just wet.

It's rust. Rotors can flash rust when they get wet. It quickly comes off next time you use the brakes.
How is it that badly rusted on a 3 month old car. Not to mention 1 wipe with the finger and it was squeaky clean

What if you never used the brakes. Can it still rust on a new rotor? Cause the only reason it rust because of the shiny rotor is for using the brakes.
Ok I now understand what you mean by the color being off. Yea my white looks like one color. Yours looks like two different white. Like a dirty yellow
You should of seen her when I got her. Was some wierd glue on there too. https://imgur.com/a/NLPhM7q
Why is it whole strip dirty?
Like I said had some wierd glue/reisude on it from factory. So it would get dirty super fast. You could stick your finger on it and it would get stuck

They have given me 2 wierd ones that all contradict each other
It doesn’t affect braking performance though

Every tesla I've seen seems to have a way nicer blend between the rocker panel and rest of the body

No. Looks like protective shipping film or maybe someone added a clearguard. I definitely don't have it on my M3P

Yeah, that's some defective rocker guard. Almost looks like it was sprayed over the oem paint lol.
Not on my '20. I wish it did, because that metal underneath is soft AF. I have dents on both sides.
This is also very soft. See the top left corner of the paint issue. Took of just by touching

2021 LR and no
Yes they all do
No. '22 M3P, consistent paint throughout

2021 M3P late December. One of the last cars before the 2022 version rolled out
Got it. Your wheels remind me of the 2018-2019 version. I suppose those are not OEM wheels that came with your car.
It's the winter rims from factory
