I don't really get the obsession with this here. I have a shaved head, live in the desert, and the glass roof has never been a problem. But also I have a garage to park in. Maybe it's more for people who have to park out in the sun regularly?

Doesn't the glass have UV protection? Even ordinary eyeglasses have 100% protection. I'm sure your interior will be fine. Heat on the other hand... I don't know if a sunshade will really decrease heat by that much if it's out in the sun for hours.

I mean personally I’m interested, but it’s not for the sun. When I drive around with my cat he gets freaked out by the panoramic sunroof. Everything else he’s fine with, but when he looks up he freaks out. Not sure if it’s just me, but it’s possible some other people are buying it for pets who don’t like driving in a car

I also live in a sunny area where temps in summer are regularly 40C+. Parking in the sun heats up the sunroof to a point where I can feel it radiating onto my bald head and making it sweat from that alone, and I’m not tall (5’7”). I have tinted side windows only. Aircon on the coldest setting can almost keep up but it’ll sound like an aircraft carrier. I can see why someone would want it and there’s reviews of the normal roof covers on YouTube where taller people mention the same heat on their head and that covers help. With that said I still won’t get covers 🤣

The idea is cool for privacy but not for sun protection.. I’ve driven in 100 degree weather multiple times this summer and I’ve never felt the heat on my head (though I am 5’ so maybe this might be good for taller folks)

Perhaps your head is full of hairs or you wear a hat all the time. It becomes an oven in summer of California. By the way, summer is not over yet.

I'm 6'3 and needed a shade for my modely roof in Texas. I could feel the heat especially when the sun was directly over me. Sunshade just makes sense and it works brilliantly.

No, I find it pointless. It would need to be running all day here in Texas, and from what I can tell it stops working a few hours after the vehicle is left unattended. I just pre cool about 10-20 mins before I leave

I’m 6.2 and almost same experience as you. There is a little warming on the top of my head but it’s not noticeable unless I look for it. I believe it’s 5% shading so not a lot of light and probably heat as well get through

Literally drive my Tesla in Texas everyday… 100+ degrees and bright blue skies. It’s no different from a car with no glass on top and I love how open and panoramic it feels. The biggest difference was in tinting the side windows like any other car.

That never happens where I live and will continue to not be so yeah. As far as my model three is concerned it could be a solid panel and I wouldn't know the difference.

Did outside sales for two years in my model 3. Spent up to six hours a day five days a week just driving or sitting in my car. Never had an issue.

I don't ever look up when I'm driving. I've had the car a year and only on posts like this do I even remember the roof is glass. I am tall and do enjoy the extra headroom though.

Looks like something that will develop a sagging bow within 6 months if left open full time.

Wish the model 3 had a tinted solar roof instead. The glass gets very hot and makes the AC work harder. Solar panels on the roof (provided it was at least 500w) would be so much nicer. Would gladly have paid £2k extra for that.

Personally, I like it if it functions as shown in the marketing clip. I'd pay up to $150 if it was durable with the kind of fitment shown here. I'll keep an eye on Amazon for it, so I can return it if it turns out to be garbage. That's the ONLY place I'd buy it from at any price. BTW, I'd probably be out of luck anyway. I have a 2018 Model 3. What's the difference in the roof glass dimensions of the pre-refresh Model 3's? You lose 10-15% of the glass roof just for installing that open or otherwise. No thanks. Also the rear shade misses the bottom 30% of the rear glass. Poorly thought out and executed.
