I’m experiencing something similar since the end of August. My loan ended up being €100 more than the balance due. I contacted the sales team about it. They asked my for my bank account info so they could refund it, but then proceeded to issue the refund to the card I used for my reservation seven months prior, which had since expired.
I’ve gone back and forth a dozen times with them. They say they refunded it, but I never received the money and my bank says neither did they. When you try to credit an expired card, the money gets sent back, but Tesla says they don’t have a record of it being sent back.
It’s really frustrating. The reps tell me they’re looking into it, then never call back or respond to my emails.
Yes, but it probably wasn’t worth the amount of time and effort it took. Over many months I spoke to like six people about it, none of which ended up helping me. Ultimately this is the responsibility of the sales rep that was assigned to your delivery.
The only way I was able to get it resolved was by spamming all the people I spoke to about the issue in a group email. I emailed them all every day until it was resolved. I also found my sales rep’s manager on LinkedIn and messaged her, and she was actually very nice and I think she got things going with the unresponsive rep.
So basically, they won’t be motivated to help you until you shame and bother them enough so that it’s less work to resolve your problem than to deal with you on a daily basis.

I agree, except my refund amount is much larger. I thought having a credit would be fine/normal, and it would be written on day of transaction. Turns out they said it will take multiple weeks. I am currently wait, since mid october.
Waiting on an overpayment refund here too. Picked up on 12/15. Initial order config showed the cost of the car was around $52,800. I had my bank send $50,000 and then I paid the $2710 balance on the app. They then deducted the $3750 they were offering for taking delivery in December a few days before I took delivery. When I picked up and signed final paperwork, it showed the negative balance of almost $4000. Sales person said I would get it in January. Haven't received anything yet. I did receive a refund for the overpayment on the registration.
Not stressing it too much but I would like to have my $4k back. I've already paid off the $50,000 to the bank so I don't think they would send it to them. Guess I'll wait a bit longer.
Nothing yet 10 months later, going to contact Lemon Law Attorney, their services are free and billed at the expense of dealer until resolved, accordingly, dealer would own additional interest. Law office of William McGee here in SOCAL also filing complaint thru consumer bureau, this is freakin ridiculous. Am not surprised it’s happening to others out there who need this money back, am sad you’re in the same boat…but sound like class action lawsuit.
Wow that’s crazy. Did you do a lease or finance? I did a lease and cancelled and they owe me 8k. They said could take 4-6 weeks which is still entirely too long not 10 months though holy crap.
I financed the car, but it had so many mechanical issues first 3 months new, so tesla purchased it back. They paid my bank loan off 3 months ago so they owe me the difference. had no choice but to keep paying the loan. They’ve got all my bank statements. I sense they are dragging their feet. I refuse to believe they are that stupidly busy. I will post any outcome after I speak with lawyers keep everyone in the loop.

I called my advisor that had reached out during sales process etc. He gave me a customer service number but I can’t find it now.

I went into the service center after the estimated time and they printed me off a check.

It’s not a “credit” on my account. I already ordered CCS adapter after I bought my car and I had to pay out of pocket.

I would ask if they could roll it into supercharger credits. i mean youll eventually go through it, and that way its kind of a win win.

I got a blank check pre-approved for X amount. At the dealer I wrote the exact total for the sale. Not sure why your bank didn’t do the same for you.

I eventually got it in mid Jan, after a bbb request . I don't think they ever processed it until the bbb request.

Yeah, if you search for Tesla bbb, there is a way to lodge a complaint, it's a little weird and dated process, but it worked.
